We loved it here! We had Vegan pizzas that we built from scratch: Mine included tempeh, artichoke, avocado, portobello mushrooms and Vegan cheese and was delicious. The base was that perfect balance of crispy on the outside but doughy on the inside. They had a great selection of craft beer and quality wines too. I come here occasionally to three times a month. I enjoy treating myself to a good lunch usually have the spinach salad which is awesome. but today I had a new pizza the marly. It's absolutely awesome. It is jerk chicken, Italian sausage and sweet onions on a astilbes crust which I got on a thin crust. Awesome. *sigh* I don't know what happened to this place. Used to be damn good. Now it's just so-so. My half and half pizza had one side almost burnt. The other side of it was all smushed together on one side like it slid in the oven somehow. And this side's toppings were all thrown about, one piece had way less than the others and another piece was about 1/3 crust. The pic really doesn't do it justice because it looked much worse in person. Needless to say after spending $60 I was slightly disappointed. At least the pretzel bites were delicious. read more

Once again fellow Yelpers another review of a local spot. Had a chance to order from this pizza place. Normally I'd pass on a place with 3 stars from 78 reviews. However, several other people in the group spoke highly of the pizza. Gave it a chance and it did not disappoint. We placed our order, picked it up and was pleasantly surprised. Pizza's looked great! Thick crusts; veggies and meat toppings looked good. We also had the pretzel bites and the meatball trio appetizer. Both were great. The bites cam with pizza sauce and this great beer cheese. We couldn't wait for this to reopen. The kids macaroni was good but it came with sliced apples. Wish it would have been a salad. We ordered the pretzel sticks which we liked a lot but the pizza was awful. There was a funny taste to the sauce and I think it was fennel. Terrible. NEW Mellow Mushroom out on 441 in Mt. Dora! 3 stars only-ONE women's restroom has only 2 toilets. This place is HUGE- with both indoor and outdoor seating I am guessing that they can seat over 200 patrons. That said, when I went to the women's restroom, I was shocked to find ONLY TWO STALLS! One regular and one handicapped-seriously? This place has late night "club" cocktail lounge evening each week where I'm sure they sell lots of beer and I cannot begin to imagine how mad and mean the ladies get when they find their facilities are but a "two-seater" and very cramped. Poor planning GUYS, and I say GUYS because men surely planned this place! The food was good and the decor is really hip and cool. The service was okay. We had the Red Skin Potato And Thai Dye pizza and the mushroom soup. We added jalapeño to the Red Skin which comes with bacon and sour cream and that was my favorite item this visit! The soup could have used a lot more mushrooms and the Thai Dye needed more sweet red chili sauce. It's really a great venue and has lots of potential-please EXPAND your women's restroom to at least 4 stalls or add another ladies room in the bar so that women in heels don't have to walk all the way from the bar or the deck to the other side of the restaurant to wait in line to use the toilet. read more

My first time. I had a hard time deciding which I appreciated more the friendly staff or the delicious pizza. Ultimately, I conclude the friendly, caring staff because that is more rare than good pizza. I arrived at an odd time 2:30pm on a weekday - 30 minutes late for the lunch specials and 30 minutes early for the happy hour specials. Thanks to the hostess (to whom I had casually mentioned that it was a busy week and difficult day in response to her perfunctory how are you?), my waitress, and the manager, I got the a glass of sangria at the happy hour price of $3. My lunch did overlap the 3:00pm qualifying hour eventually. When the manager notified me that she approved my exception, the manager mentioned that her employees had told her things were difficult for me this week. I impressed they listened, cared, and let her know. She sat down and visited a moment. I enjoyed her bubbly personality, an obvious people person. I ordered the "great white pizza", topped with four cheeses (feta, ricotta, provolone, and mozzarella), roasted red tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, onion and basil on a olive oil and garlic crust. The cheese was plentiful and ooey, gooey. The olive oil, garlic, and a light sprinkling on grated cheese covered the crust, making me happy to actually eat pizza crust. The house sangria was simple, not too fruity, chilled, and delicious. The manager clued me in that occasionally they will offer different sangrias as unexpected treats for diners. Overall, this newbie was treated like a valued, regular and very much enjoyed my lunch. We get pizza here every other week. Always very good. Yesterday, I picked up a hoagie and a sandwich for lunch. Also very good, and I was pleased to see that Mellow is practicing social distancing and that the staff is wearing masks and gloves. Some places in Mount Dora have stopped making any pretense of taking precautions, and we don't get takeout from those places, let alone eat there. The pandemic is not over! Every time I visit a new Mellow Mushroom, I always end up wondering why I go to any other than the Winter Park location. Coming from Renningers in Mount Dora, this one was only two miles away and seemed promising, but like many other reviewers recently, we had a not so great experience. We were seated right away; despite the parking lot being full, this location actually has a rather large dining area, so there were many open tables. We were given menus and it was a bit before our server came to greet us. We ordered food and the server worked with us and the kitchen to ensure that the vegan options that we asked for were honored, which was great, but many things came out lacking or incorrect. We ordered the pretzels as an appetizer, with no butter but with both marinara and mustard, which we had to ask for again when the pretzels arrived as it was missing from the plate. I ordered the tofu sub vegan, and we also asked for the Holy Shitake pie to be made vegan if possible, as well. My tofu sub came out with mayonnaise and cheese, and we were told that the pizza could not be made vegan because they fried the mushrooms in butter. I couldn't understand why they couldn't just fry them in oil, but we didn't argue and just agreed that was ok. Our server asked if we wanted drink refills and then forgot to bring them, stopping by to repeatedly ask the same questions several times. When I ordered my sub initially, she walked away before I could tell her if I wanted half or whole, or what type of chips I wanted. This whole experience really just seemed more of a hassle than it was worth, and from other reviews it seems like this is the norm with the Mount Dora location. I definitely think I'll be sticking to eating at the Winter Park Mellow Mushroom from now on. read more

My group of 30 had reservations for two months from a luncheon here. It seems like ample time for the restaurant to get servers and kitchen help lined up. We were told that we would order off the menu. When we arrived at 12:30, our scheduled time, they weren't ready for us, probably a bad sign. Part of our group was seated at a long table of 16, the others were in smaller tables. We eventually gave our orders. 45 minutes later a few peoples' salads came out. An hour later we complained and some complementary cheese bread was sent to our table. Then a few people got their soups. An hour and 45 minutes after we arrived, we were finally served the rest of our meals. Meanwhile, they accepted a group of 25 without reservations. When we complained to the manager, he apologized, and after one of our group suggested that our meals be comped, he gave us 50% off. Too little, too late. I would give this place one star for service but the food, when it finally came, was good. Not good enough to ever go back, though. If I had been with my husband, we would have walked out. read more

Promote the bus girl! We popped in yesterday for lunch with my father-in-law and there was a short wait, about 15 minutes. The hostess was warm and friendly and even though her foot was in a 'boot' she was all over helping out. We were called to​ our table in under 15 minutes and escorted to a big booth and given menus. This is probably our third visit here and most disappointing. We sat for quite some time with no one coming to the table, I was just about ready to go talk to the hostess when the bus girl noticed no one had been to the table and came over to check on us. She mentioned that the server was busy getting an​​​​ order and offered to get drinks. She must have seen that we had all the menus closed and stacked and offered to take our order as well. My husband ordered the Meatball Hoagie ($9.99) and she pleasantly ran through the list of chip options as well as which kind of roll. My father in law ordered a House Salad ($4.29 - Lil one) and she promptly explained the difference in the two sizes for him as well as they dressings they offered. I ordered the full order of Wings -10- ($9.99) and she expertly followed up on my preference of blue cheese or ranch dressing. She brought drinks and told us our food we be up shortly - we STILL had not seen or heard from our server. A group of food runners came out a few minutes later with all of our food, there were no chips with the sandwich, she (we later realized she was our server) had no idea what kind. The salad was very good as were my wings, my husband commented that his meatballs tasted like store bought frozen ones. When we got our check the bus girl had actually rung in regular chips, which were actually pretty lame bagged chips that were all crumbs. She came back later to clear plates and did refill my husband's soda. I then had to flag her down again for our check and instead of asking if we were all together she printed three separate checks and then came over to ask. So, yes, she needed to reprint it all on one check. As a server she was really disappointing and was tipped appropriately. We found the bus girl and tipped her appropriately as well. Probably the worse Mellow Mushroom we have been to. The service, the pizza and the salad I'd rate one out of ten. The best were in Salt Lake City, UT - Daphne, AL and Cape Coral. We will never go back to this one The lettuce on my salad was very wilted and the pizzas were lacking a lot. I could have just ordered bread sticks and it would have been about the same. Service, what service? It took a very long time to have our order taken and to be served and then no one came back to follow up with us. We I told her how disappointed I was with the pizza and why, she just shrugged he shoulders and handed me the bill. Won't go back or recommend this one to anyone. read more

I was very disappointed today. It was my first visit to a Mellow mushroom, all they they were serving today was pizza, calzones, pretzel bites and chicken wings. No salad sandwiches nothing. They said they were short staffed, but I saw four waitresses and people in the kitchen. Additionally, There was no hand sanitizer outside of the one bathroom it was open and working. That was the men's room. What sign on the door says I'm going into the bathroom to lock the door because that was the bathroom for both sexes. I walked in on a man at the urinal. This was my second time at a Mellow Mushroom, but my first time at this location. They make some of the best pizza that you can get around the Orlando area. What's great about their pizza is that it is so customizable. Vegan and gluten free options and any other topping you could imagine on pizza. They also have fully customizable salads as well! It can be a little overwhelming with all of the options, so they also have signature pizzas that you can order. Over all great food, great service, and a great price. read more

God forbid I go half and half on a thin crust, I usually give up by the second pizza because I don't feel like waiting on a third pizza. Should have stayed closed. Ordered online right about when open for business on a Sunday, given times for delivery. Order tracking showed order ready for delivery pickup within 30min of ordering. Received delivery 1 hour 15 min after ordering. The Doordasher arrived to pickup the delivery prior to the ready time. Doordasher waited 30 additional min. before order actually ready. Mellow staffer wanted the Doordasher to confirm pickup even though order not ready and he informed Mellow staff he could not when they did not have order ready, so refused to lie for them. Upon speaking to Ainsley at Mellow she stated they had a printer problem, but no one informed anyone of a delay. Printed order on bag shows exact time ordered and the delivery pick up time. She made it sound like it was Doordasher delay. Which upon speaking to Doordasher was not true. His times match mine. Pizza was lukewarm to cool. Soft thin crust and chewy. Too much seasoning. The "regular" wings are just typical buffalo sauce. Wings no moisture dried out. Only went 1 time before this restaurant was closed and remodeled. Said it would be 1st and last. Stopped here on a recent vacation where the "only unfamiliar local restaurants allowed" rule was in place. The Holy Shitake Pizza did not disappoint. Upon arrival, the hostess told my boyfriend and I that the wait would be 20 minutes inside or we could be seated immediately outside. We opted for the patio since it was nice out. Our waitress came over right away and took our drink order and also told us about some drink specials. Between the time of her getting our drinks and coming back, the two of us started getting bit up by mosquitos. I asked the waitress if they had citronella candles or anything similar. She offered to light the tiki torches for us immediately and also took our food order. She quickly returned and told us that they were out of oil and offered to seat us inside. Once inside, we got our food quickly and it was delicious! We split a small pizza with cheese, pesto, garlic, and tomatoes on it. When Mellow Mushroom first opened it was a great place to eat. My last 3 experiences weren't good with it taking way too long for the food and with the Calzone cooked too dark & had to be re- done. Yesterday it took 30 minutes to get a small Greek salad that was not good and then my half sandwich came out cold much later. They cooked it again after i told the waitress but I'm done going there! Fantastic dough, fun atmosphere, think hippie. Menu choices are for everyone. If you don't want pizza there is hummus, bruschetta, salads, good stuff. The individual pizza size is substantial and paired with my salad, it was just too much. The server this evening was off (not sure if they were properly staffed or if she was just off), but I guess that happens in the better restaurants too. The decor is very eclectic and they have booths (my favorite) and stand alone table seating. We did not wait more than 5 minutes for a party of 7 on a Friday night, so I would say that is success.
