We had less than an hour till our Haunted Ghost Tour at Colonial Williamsburg and did not have time for a sit-down dinner. We decided we would pick up a few pizzas, make our way towards the Governor's Palace and find a nice grassy spot to eat our pizzas. We placed the order online and pick up was very easy. I'm pretty sure if we wanted to eat at Mellow Mushroom, we would have to wait for quite some time. These pizzas were pricey but that is expected as we are in a touristy spot. The portions were HUGE though, and one medium pizza is easily enough for 2 people. I've never had Mellow Mushroom before, but I'm glad it's a chain. We also ordered the lavender groove lemonade spiked which is amazing for people who don't like alcohol. The peach tea was also very fresh and delicious. The only draw back was the service. The waiter was super polite but overall, the servers seemed to be unknowledgeable about the menu, particularly the vegan items. We ordered pretzels which came out after the meal, and we only received half an order of pretzels and then the second half had no oil or salt. ~ gluten-free review ~ I was exploring Williamsburg with my brother and needed to stop somewhere for dinner. After looking at gluten-free options, we decided to give Mellow Mushroom a try. Even though it was only 4:15 PM, the wait was 45 min. We decided to sit at the bar and the service was wonderful. The gluten free crust was crispy and the flavor was amazing. The overall vibe of the restaurant was cool and a great spot for families or a relaxed dinner. It's been nine months since we last gave Mellow Mushroom a chance. If anything, the whole experience has gotten worse. We had family in town to celebrate my oldest daughter's birthday; we ordered three pizzas for delivery, and my wife found a coupon for a free order of pretzel bites. The cheese pizza was so overcooked that it was completely desiccated and there was no trace of any sauce. The pepperoni was slightly better, but the crust was so tough and chewy that nobody could eat it. The last pizza was bacon and pineapple: it also suffered from the terrible crust, and there was no more than two pieces of pineapple per slice. Also, it was sliced completely cockeyed, so some slices were huge while others were just slivers. All of the crusts were very tough and seemed to be of the same consistency as the pretzel bites; I don't know if someone used the wrong flour mix for both of them, but the pretzel bites were barely touched. They looked more like whole wheat than pretzels. We live three miles from the store, and all of the food was cold when it got to our house. Important to note that the delivery is performed via an outside company. After spending almost $80, we had a pretty lousy meal that even the kids wouldn't eat, which is saying a lot when I saw my son eat a cough drop that he found stuck to his foot a few days ago. yummmmmm...we came here as the last stop of a murder pub crawl tour and this place had the absolute best late-night snacks. I was only slightly buzzed so I am pretty sure my review is accurate. We ordered parmesan wings and pretzels for the table but I am 99% sure I ate most of it. The wings were crispy and perfectly breaded and the pretzels were so moist and yet had a crunch to them as well. The service was great and everyone was super friendly. The music was not too loud that I couldn't hear myself talk and we chose to sit in the outside area which was a great choice since the weather was nice (even at 10pm). Came to Williamsburg for work and was told the mellow mushroom was the spot for pizza. I'm glad I listened because they weren't messing around! I ordered hot wings and a small holly shiitake plus added pepperoni to it. The pizza was way better than I could have imagined.The pizza crust was soft and chewy with just the right amount of crunch. The sauce, mushrooms, and the pepperoni tasted awesome. It's hard for me to believe that this is a chain restaurant. The service was fast and often and our drinks never had the chance to get empty. The waitress was friendly and attentive to our every need. The store has photos and decoration's that seemed straight out of the Beatles yellow submarine movie or a Grateful Dead show. I loved it! The wait staff wore super cool tidied shirts ( sold them in house also) and all looked like they loved their jobs. If I had more time in town I would go back. I also ordered it with the vegan cheese option, which I appreciated that I could do with no extra cost. The pizza was delicious! I liked the Veg Out half more than the Merry Prankster one, but I would definitely order both again. I also tried a bite of the Holy Shiitake Pie pizza, which my friend ordered, and thought it was very tasty. There's a fair amount of indoor seating and we had no trouble getting a table on a Friday night. The pizzas came out pretty quickly and the server we had was great. Pizza and water parks. What could be a better combo? Venturing out for food we could afford for a decent price, we found ourselves here. We came later at night, but it looks like parking could be an issue at high peak times. Easily sat our party of 6. The loaded potato pizza was different. The way the menu described it, my mouth started watering. When I took a couple bites, I just wasn't impressed. I felt it was mostly crust, but it got rave reviews from my husband and brother. The funky q chicken was bomb. Incredibly flavorful, perfect amount of barbecue, and ingredients spread out evenly. I was really skeptical because while I don't mind barbecue, I didn't want my pizza drowned in it. I originally vetoed this pizza, but glad we tried it. It was easily my favorite of the two. On Mondays they have a man who comes around and makes balloon animals for the kids. I believe he's there from 6-8. He made my kiddo a mermaid, a bear holding a heart, and a cool dinosaur hat. Kept them well behaved for the rest of dinner. The owner even came around as we were finishing up, introduced himself, and asked if we needed anything. We stayed at Great Wolf Lodge and ventured out for dinner. We enjoyed our dinner so much the first night, we came back for dinner again the next night! What a great way to wind down a wonderful graduation day for my niece that started in Richmond with her ceremony and followed with a casual and relaxing dinner in Williamsburg! 9/28/21 On 9/19/21 we spent our second to last day in Colonial Williamsburg.  We saw this restaurant on the first day and this time around, decided to eat here. The air conditioning system was cranking out cold air and I would have been cold if not for the long sleeve Baltimore Ravens mock turtleneck shirt I was wearing.   The store has a lot of things to take pictures of and I took them.  We saw some people still wearing face masks, but not everyone  was following the parks guidelines.    The restaurant was very busy, but we decided to wait the 15 to 30 minute wait.  When we were finally lead to our table, the look of the seats would be hard on my ass and the people I was with. We decided to see if we could get the open booth we passed.  I asked a waiter near us and she lead us to the booth after it was cleaned and sanitized.  The table was open ended on both sides and we could see the Raiders vs Pittsburgh Steelers.   The food we ordered was delicious,  but The Steelers were not having such  good time.   By checking in through Yelp, we were given the opportunity to try a free order of the pretizal balls aka cheese balls... ...get your mind out of the gutter.  Yes, these cheese balls were tasty. We all ended up having a pizza to keep our order simple.  It did not take us long to get filled up on the pizza, but carrying around the pizza while walking around Colonial Williamsburg was not ideal.  We ended up eating the whole pizza. Our waiter had a great personality and great vibe.  We made sure he received a great tip from us. I recommend coming here at least once while visiting Colonial Williamsburg. read more

Our friend took us here to see the historic area of Williamsburg. It was very interesting and a beautiful place. He also stated that he knew of a great pizza place that he wanted us to try and Mellow Mushroom we went! There's parking everywhere around the establishment so that wasn't an issue at all. Once we arrived inside we were quickly greeted and seated. You could smell the deliciousness in the air. Our waiter was very friendly and gave us recommendations and told us to definitely get the pretzel bites with beer cheese. How could we not. I've been wanting to try this kitschy, flower power, vibe restaurant (glass beaded curtains anyone?) for awhile and yesterday we were in town to visit my son who's at W&M, so we popped in.
