In town for business and arrived later evening so looked for something close by hotel. Melt got my attention based on menu selections and close proximity to hotel. Food was good. I had the calamari(appetizer) and tuna. Calamari description on the menu did not match what I expected but it was okay. It was deep fried calamari with a doctored up tartar sauce. Nice portion size. Tuna entree (4 small steak cuts) was good but I best enjoyed the couscous side with/Mexican salsa relish topping. During my visit I happened to grab dinner at the bar. The level of service during my dining experience was less than stellar based on the place not being busy and serving competence of my bar tender. When my food arrives ... I should not have to ask for eating utensils. Additionally, always appropriate to ask when dinner arrives -if anything else is needed. Not to mention when I asked for a straw for my water, I observed the bartender reach with bare hands to get straw and proceed to drop it in my water--nope not in my drink! This all happened and resulted to me giving this visit a low score. Melt fell short my service expectations. read more

I'm giving this place a 5 star, even though I had to send my entree back tonight(it's a minor issue, even not their fault , so I don't even want to mention). However it was first time we had any complaints about the food, all other times everything was perfect. The waitress and the manager both were very professional and understanding. Another fabulous anniversary dinner at Melt! We were seated in a booth up a few stairs overlooking the fireplace. I love the elegance of the restaurant and the romantic atmosphere for a date night! Our service was excellent--we were not rushed and service was attentive but not smothering. Hubby and I had the Arugula salad, the Halibut special, and the Cioppino. We were offered a celebratory espresso cheesecake for dessert, but we were too full to eat it so it was boxed up to go. Everything was fantastic. Our only disappointment is that the steamed clams appetizer is off the menu right now. We get it. Different season--different menu options. Full disclosure, in the past we've driven close to an hour to come to Saucon Valley for that appetizer when it's on the menu. Melt's steamed clams with chorizo? in the broth is the best steamed clams I've ever eaten and I'm a big-time foodie with experiences in a lot of restaurants in PA and NJ. The clam offering now is more of a clams casino which was just okay. Maybe the steamed clams app will return fall or winter? Here's hoping! read more

A true gem in the Saucon Valley Promenade Shops, with a diverse Italian themed dinner menu all in a beautifully designed multi-level space (with a shockingly similar feel as the very posh Zuma in Midtown Manhattan). The dinner menu ranges from charcuterie, to pizza, to swordfish, to a braised veal shank (the latter you should seriously consider ordering). The quality of the menu is exceptional and the presentation is world class. The wine list is extensive and their martini list (they have a dozen or so signature combinations) will blow your mind. The service is very hospitable and has a tendency to treat you like a rockstar. Prices are very reasonable for the experience (most larger entrees are in the $25-30, with most cocktails in the $10-12 range). Overall an impressive venue. We were a party of 10 celebrating the elevation to geezer status of one of the brethren. We were given a fine table in the middle of things. Service was excellent from start to finish. Some had cocktails and sangria, but most of us started with a fine bottle of Dr. Loosen Riesling, well priced at $44.The warm bread was excellent. Apps were a hit or miss. The clear winner was a platter of charcuterie and cheeses. Prosciutto, breasola and a hot sopressata were the meats. I did not catch what cheeses a friend selected. This was rounded out with caperberries and roasted peppers. Presentation was attractive. Mr. Z. enjoyed his pasta fagioli soup. The server had brought the pea soup in error, and a manager arrived with the piping hot replacement bowl so quickly there was no issue. The seafood apps were not as good - the calamari portion could have been larger and hotter, although there was a good ratio of tentacles to rings. I thought the octopus portion was also on the small side, but it was augmented with potatoes. The cioppino was better than it had any right to be, inland and in the suburbs. Plentiful, plump mussels, tender clams, shrimp, two kinds of fish (swordfish and salmon I think) in a spicy broth. Great grilled toasts on top. Mr. Z enjoyed his grouper special. My companion's Pette di Pollo Pizzaiola was more or less chicken parmigiana. I chided her for ordering something so pedestrian, but one taste established that this was a well executed dish, juicy and well seasoned. Others in the group had pastas and salads - no complaints were audible. With the second course we had a Montelpuciano d'Abruzzo, which was light enough to work with the fish entrees and pasta. The birthday boy likes his wine red. We shared desserts - the birthday boy received a complimentary cheesecake, and the rest enjoyed a chocolate topped pistachio mousse, and apple cake. Overall I'd rate this just north of four stars, say 4.1-4.2, losing points for the seafood apps. It brought to mind restaurants in Vegas, but if you plunked me down in it blindfolded, and told me it was in Manhattan or Chicago, I would not have thought twice. read more

Our party of seven was seated at a ridiculously long table -- we couldn't even hear each other so we all scooted down to one side of the table and left the other half empty. I ordered off the prix fixe menu which I felt had a good variety. For the appetizer I had a Caesar salad (the anchovies on it were super overpowering). For dinner I had the penne e spinach. Delicious! The spinach cream was so velvety and rich! My desert was blah and disappointing. I ordered the pasticcino di cioccolato. Not good! Super dry and stale tasting. We've intended to try Melt for some time and made a reservation Saturday as a last minute decision. We wish we'd come sooner! We were pleasantly surprised that the prices were very reasonable and not more than you'd pay for some dishes at many franchises. But the atmosphere and value are SO much better here. Atmosphere is very urban and fun. The staff was very friendly and professional, and definitely make you feel you are dining in a upscale restaurant. We each had a pasta dish. She carbonara with gluten free pasta (available but not on menu - they can make a number of pasta dishes GF) and I had linguine with clams and mushrooms. Both very tasty and portions larger than they needed to be honestly. Almond panna cotta for desert. We'd have same choices again, but when we inevitably return I look forward to trying other things on the menu! read more

Today my family decided to spend our Thanksgiving at Melt and had a wonderful time. The menu was very diverse, reasonable in price, and very flavorful. We particularly enjoyed the classic Spaghetti with Meatballs, Mushroom Gravy (like a Marsala), Brown Sugar Ham, and Turkey. The cranberry balsamic was fabulous and had a rich, unique flavor. In addition, the dessert selection was excellent. The only reason I could not fully give five stars was because we were seated at an unset table and then had to awkwardly sit at the table while the staff set it. We also noticed some of our food came out cold (especially the soup), maybe because the kitchen is downstairs, but we weren't sure. Overall, I would recommend it to another, but would hope they fix these flaws in the future. read more

My family decided to try this out tonite--locals and hadn't been there in the 2 years we had lived here. (Big mistake!) 2 of us ordered filet. Medium. No one came and asked "How was your steak cooked" or ANY question. meanwhile, both steaks were RAW--yes, literally and because of our personalities, no one wanted to have to go out of our way to flag someone down that wasn't anywhere around. And due to the cost, the 2 that ordered it, ate it out of respect for the host. (no one showed their face for 15 minutes after our service). But, upon paying..I did speak up. It's BS to have a $267 bill and have food that is cooked WAAAAY below the asked-for Temp. So, we paid...........in FULL.....for sub-standard food and frankly, service. On a Tuesday nite, no less. Hi, My husband and I went to Melt for dinner August 31,2023 . Started with appetizer which was on the app. Special recommended by our waiter Jason, which was delicious! Then I ordered the filet and my husband ordered the scallions they were delicious too, but when I took one bite out of filet Jason the waiter saw my face and came right over to ask me how my steak was I told him it was good but he knew I was just saying that not to complain. He told the manager to come over to find out. In the meantime my husband wanted to try it for himself and was like wow we both agreed it was VERY salty. The manager KRISTY SMITH Was very accommodating said she would PERSONALLY make me a new steak . The new steak was DELICIOUS!! Even at the end of the meal she offered us a free dessert! My boyfriend and I went to melt for our 1 year anniversary. We got a stuffed clam appetizer and a Caesar salad to start. The stuffed clams were just okay for me but the Caesar was good. For our entrees we got a filet mignon and a small order of the carbonara pasta. The steak was amazing.... one of the best I've had in a while. The pasta was pretty good too! Melt has a reputation as being upscale. Today we waited very long for everything we ordered but honestly all restaurants are under staffed. Wanted to order crab cakes but they had no tartar sauce. We didn't want the spicy sauce they offered so we went with pizza and a salad. Pizza was very good, thin crust and tasty. Salad, not so much. Our Caesar came with three croutons on it! The lettuce was a little old. I would've expected a little nicer salad here. Our waitress was friendly and pleasant but stretched thin. It took 2 hours to have a small lunch. One time I got a filet and it was the best steak I have ever had, and then next time I ordered the same it was not as good. We had my daughter's wedding dinner there and it was a large party of us. The service was just ok, but the food was excellent that day. I realize during covid times the lack of good help is there everywhere, but I wish they would set some higher standards for everything or else lower the prices to meet the shift in quality. Ambience is great, hostess's were friendly and they even brought out a free birthday dessert and glass of champagne. 2 different managers came by to make sure everything was to our liking. I really like that Melt exists for the Lehigh Valley. When I lived here, there was nothing like this anywhere. When we wanted to go someplace "nice," it usually had to be the Olive Garden, lol. So it's a very positive thing that the Lehigh Valley is getting more of a variety. With that said, this place really needs to improve its pricing, service and menu. It's almost there, but not quite. I'm afraid they realize that this is probably "as good as it gets" for people in the Lehigh Valley, so the residents are forced to "suck it up" with regard to the restaurant's quirks. For instance, the waiter asked us if we wanted water (of course we do) and instead of giving us tap water, the waiter snuck a $6 bottle of Voss on the bill. We meant tap water, and he knew it, but they must be trained in this type of sales. All things considered, they do have options for vegetarians, including a wonderful minestrone and an eggplant panini. read more

Came here for my youngest daughter's high school graduation. We arrived late in the evening and enjoyed impeccable service and outstanding food. Seated on the first floor by the fireplace was lovely. Our server deftly handled our table of 9 with ease. Food was delicious-many of us used the price-fix menu which was nice and others ordered off the menu. Another half-way meeting point for my up state friends and me, this is so much better than anything in the Center Valley area in my opinion. Being here 4 times in the last 2 years, I was hoping for the consistency throughout that I have come to expect, and consistency it was, from the above average to excellent food, all the way down to the "just average" service. For starters, two of us split the endive salad with beets, watercress, walnuts and gorgonzola. It was extremely delightful, a wonderful full sized plate, too much for one, a perfect pre-dinner share, full of goodies and flavor. The fish special of the evening was a branzino, a light, soft, flaky, Mediterranean fish. And three out of four of us ordered it and loved it. One of us had the head and tail removed before served, two of us wanted the full body experience, always a good thing. ;-) On the down side the fish had quite a few bones left in it. It didn't bother me or my easy-to-please girlfriend, but a little more care in the de-boning process would have kept my fingers from reaching to my mouth to remove the bones out the bite. We supplemented our dinners with an order of a side dish, white beans with fresh tomato. This was amazing. One dish could feed 2 or 3 comfortably. The beans were perfect texture, the medium richness and fresh tomato kept the dish from being at all heavy. Excellent. For desert we split a almond panna cotta. Very good, with some raspberries, enough strong almond flavor that 4 of us picking on one desert was perfect. Our waitress, although very bright and pleasant, offered very little explanations, seemed like she was rushed, was hard to find at times, took forever to bring back things like water, our drinks, our refills of drinks, the check, etc. And I wouldn't say the restaurant was very crowded either. It is one of those places where the servers like to hang out at the server station or kitchen, rather than pay attention to the customers of the restaurant. Hopefully this is not too critical, but constructive. Again, my favorite place in that area, whether sitting for something light at the bar like I have in the past, a romantic time, or dinner with friends. read more

I first had lunch at this Italian style restaurant a few weeks ago for a business meeting(I had the seared tuna salad). The lunch was delicious and I love the wall of wine bottles that peeks through to the upstairs bar area. I later visited for dinner with a girlfriend and again loved the food(I had pasta this time) and there was a definate feel of the place to be in the LV on Friday night. This weekend I visited again with my bestfriend from Philly. Again, the food was fantastic(I had stuffed chicken rolls) but this time we decided to see what was on the rooftop deck. Previous times I had been there I had heard about the martini deck but the restaurant was dead at 11 when we finished dinner so we skipped it. Having nothing better to do, Nicole and I tool the glass elevator upstairs. When the doors opened it was as if we had traveled to another world. Who would have known that just upstairs was a great martini deck packed with people. I loved the cabanas and the fire pit kept everyone warm on an unseasonably cool summer night. The music was a fun mix of old classics and new dance songs. It was interesting to see the very diverse age groups, no joke I would estimate age 21-65. But, somehow it all worked and was a great time. I'll be interested to see how it is in the colder months here in PA, but for now it is the perfect summer nightspot. Oh...and worth a mention, their wine selection is great as well as their signiture martinis! read more

Not your average Italian restaurant, Melt is urban chic and comfortable. Something you're more likely to find in New York, than the Lehigh Valley. More reasonably priced, and less fussy than Blue, Melt's food is awesome and the portions reasonable. You can easily spend 12-15 a person for lunch or 50 a person for dinner depending on what you order. Service is good too. Right now they are having a one hour wait for lunch and more for dinner so reservations are a must. Check it out! UPDATE: Although I have not experienced this myself, I have been told food quality is inconsistent. This seems to be occurring at "off" times, during the week for dinner and lunch. Weekends seem to be right on target. Still a good bet to impress a date. read more

Located in a 'lifetsyles mall" ( funny, there didn't seem to be an overabundance of same sex couples or Kathy Griffin performing...hmmm), this trendy, trendy Aye-talian restaurant is large, sleek and has a kick ass restroom. Actually, the restroom is tastefully decorated, clean and has thick handwipes. Spare no expense indeed. Nicelong wine list, mixed drinks match the trendy-ness of the place, and the wait staff is incredibly attentive. Our waitress was knowledge, friendly, and gave us just the right amount of service without demanding too much attention. We each had a salad and a main course. My beet salad I will mention was EXTREMELY light on the beets and heavy on the grass. Of course, I don't get the cheese, which is probably the main component of the salad. And since I've brought up that damn dairy allergy again, let me say this was one of the most accomodating restaurants I've eaten at in a long time. The waitress even checked with the chef to make sure my shrimp and pasta dish was dairy free. I didn't have to ask her to do that. She did it on her own- well done, my friend, well done. The quasi brother-in-law had what looked like a delicious beef and pasta dish and the SG had a vegetarian veggie plate. The portions were large and in charge and none of us were able to finish. The men opted for coffee drinks and a dessert. I opted to watch-sigh. Overall, a nice, relaxing place for a casualish dinner with friends in a mall. I'd go again without question. I can't review the food because I wouldn't even be served. From a community stand point, there is nothing but problems there. This is the place you go to impress guests with appearance and expense accounts - but don't drag your foodie friends here. You'll all leave disappointed. Melt is gorgeous. The service is slow and diner-like, and doesn't match the atmosphere and prices. The food is lackluster. There is nothing on the menu that makes me long to return. In fact I don't even remember what I ate here on numerous occasions. When I go to Melt now it's to meet someone for a drink because it's in a convenient location for my drink companions. I've had much better "italian food" at Bravo, Sette Luna, and others. Here's what I think. If Melt wants to survive they'll re-vamp the menu to have some more unique, really memorable offerings. The bad: The patrons, which Melt strategically caters to. In general, it's not a diverse demographic that they're aiming to please. For example, if you ever want to enjoy the rooftop deck & aren't really into the overly fashion conscious, go as soon as they open it (around 5 or 6) & run for the exits by 7 (especially if you see a DJ setting up). Or... if you go for a nice relaxing meal on Christmas Eve, ask to be re-seated when you're saddled next to a table of 12 that includes 2 or 3 screaming kids that constantly run around the table like a coupla merry pranksters (which wouldn't be so bad if you didn't seem more concerned than their parents about said children crashing into something & hurting themselves). read more

You almost forget that when you look out the window you see a New Balance sneaker store. The rest of this review is not about Melt per se (I've never eaten there), but to note that the one time I did go, the customers were the most rude, snobby yuppies I have encountered out in public. I felt like it was the 7th grade and they were sitting at the "cool table" mocking the rest of the kids. They sent out a very "you aren't one of us, you don't belong here vibe", and were literally turning around in their seats and laughing at me and my girlfriend. I didn't know grown adults did this sort of thing, but I imagine this holier-than-thou thing is all part of the delusion that the Lehigh Valley is the next New York City, instead of a small town rich with local history of working class people. Ever been to a place, having a good time and then leave because a DJ shows up? That was us. Four of us were on the third floor having a nice time, enjoying delicious drinks and ordinary food, when the music started. As for the food, we tried three pizzas and all were uninspired. The toppings seemed stale and the crust was bland, like unleavened bread or unsalted crackers. It was good enough to eat but not good enough to order again. We also had appetizers. Fried ravioli was fine and the homemade chips with bacon a cheese also were good but again, not something we'd order again. On the plus side, service was fantastic. I thought I was sitting at the bar for Top Cut Steak House (I am not from the area) but it was "Melt". (Same owners). Apparently the steak house was on the 3rd floor and I was on the first floor. I wasn't the only one who didn't know this as I heard the bar tender and waiter tell a few other parties as well. In any case I was traveling for business and had a seat at the bar. The restaurant has an impressively beautiful decor. I started with a perfectly prepared vodka martini. For dinner I had the salad with chicken. I forget what it was called but It is actually a cob salad. It was delicious. It had a generous amount of perfectly grilled and very tender chicken. I enjoyed. I ended with the gelato. I was able to pick 3 scoops of 4 diff gelato flavors. The pistachio was the best. Service was good. My bill for just me (without tip) was $40. No happy hour which was disappointing. Any time I've gone to one of the restaurants here I've had nothing but good experiences and Melt sets the highest bar in my opinion. High-end ambience, high-end staff, high-end food...every time. It's totally worth the price you pay. I loved their Muscato. Loved their misto salad. The tenderloin skewers were bursting with flavor. But that pretty much goes for everything they serve.
