I am new to town and was trying out restaurants in the area with my friend. So I went to Melt on 10/02 later in the day, maybe 5 pm. My friend and I sat at the bar. Right away, we noticed everyone was dressed in suits, and we were underdressed, but we were already committed to trying this place. Sat at the bar. There were 2 bartenders. One came to us, and I asked him if they had a certain liquer, and he looked at me and just said no. So I gave him a second to see if he would suggest something else and improvise, but he didn't. I also asked him if there was a happy hour, and again, he looked at me like I was crazy and said no again. I feel like this bartender was looking down on us because we were in regular street clothes , 2 females in a place where everyone is wearing suits . He made us feel very uncomfortable, as if we were working girls or something. After that, he wasn't coming to us to see if we wanted more drinks or anything. His other coworker came who was more on a feminine side who was much nicer to help us. I would never go back there again. read more

I like Melt a lot! I know it's a favorite of my parents - it's a really nice dining option in the Lehigh Valley and very popular. FOOD The food is never bad when I come here. The daily specials are unique and inventive and much needed to separate this restaurant from other places in the area. I'll start with the bread; it's always delicious and freshly made throughout the day. My favorite is the olive bread; served with olive oil for dipping, it's a great way to start the meal. Today we decided to order mainly from the specials. My mom and I had The Wild Tasmanian Sea Trout (similar to an Arctic Char) and it was delicious. It was served over a heirloom tomato salad, which was seasoned with a white balsamic dressing; it was very delicious. My sister had the penne pasta with shrimp, kale, tomatoes, and parmesan special, which was also delicious. My other sister went with a menu staple, the fusilli with basil pesto, parmesan, asapargus, chicken and potatoes. It was good, but the potatoes made the dish a little too starchy. My dad, also choosing a menu staple, got the chicken parmesan and it was a delicious, very healthy serving that was very authentic. EXPERIENCE I think the big reason this place is so popular is because 1) it's a nice restaurant that's great for special occasions 2) they have great outdoor seating during the summer and 3) LEVEL 3. Level 3 is the rooftop bar that's open when it's warm and it's a great space. They have an indoor bar that can be utilized throughout the year and then during the summer the doors open up into the outdoor space, which has cabana-type seating and a DJ on some weekends. Beyond Level 3, the waitstaff and bartenders are always friendly, courteous, and attentive and the management is very mindful of walking the dining floor to check on the patrons. Been here for several meals over the years but feel compelled to leave a review after last night's fantastic birthday celebration for my husband. This was some of the best service I've had at any restaurant (not just in the Lehigh Valley). Cocktails were terrific. The antipasto was so, so good. I ate at Melt last night with a group of nine people and it was wonderful. I was worried that they might not be attentive because it was such a large party but they were. I had spaghetti and meatballs and it was delicious. My friend next to me had the scallops and she said they were good. My other friend had the fettuccine Bolognese which I tasted and that was delicious. I had the gelato for dessert. I chose vanilla and pistachio. I found the pistachio to be more flavorful. they let you choose what flavors you get with the three scoops. read more

I consistently love everything I get here and love my waiter/waitress just as much. The dining experience is always fantastic. I don't eat a lot of meat and they are so great about making accommodations/suggestions for me which is SO appreciated. What I don't love? The miserable hostesses...who are consistently miserable every time. Luckily, there is one guy that seems to be in charge who is very polite and professional. I have never left a bad review of a restaurant in my life, in fact I started a Yelp account tonight after my experience here. The food was actually great and the service was very good as well. This restaurant has a hat policy, which I am perfectly fine with and have eaten and gladly return to other establishments with similar policies. After my meal I noticed another patron behind me was wearing a hat through their meal. I witnessed multiple employees not request them to remove it. Apparently they pick and chose when to enforce this policy. I am not sure if their decision is based on age, what you look like, maybe your last name...honesty, it doesn't matter. We visited Melt to help celebrate a birthday. I had eaten there before, and the meal was very good. The night was chilly, so In addition to my coat, I wore a hat. As I walked into the lobby, and as I was giving my name for the reservation, the hostess actually interrupted me to inform me that there is a "no hat" policy in the dining room. Being a gentleman, I do not wear a hat when I am indoors, much less while dining, but I obviously did not remove my hat quickly enough for her. After this incident, she sat my party at a table directly next to a window and under an air vent. After a few minutes, we were all uncomfortably cold, and I asked to be moved to another table. And your manager only very reluctantly agreed not to charge for small kids desserts when guilted into it and had to be explained in detail why just saying sorry isn't enough sometimes. She also laughed at us when we told her that politely in person. Doing better means more than saying we wish we were better. Basic customer service principles clearly have eroded -- and don't take my word for it -- just look at your other reviews in this area. Corporate owned restaurants just don't understand sometimes -- the way a proprietor and individual owner does. Good luck and we won't be returning nor our friends. We have dined here many times. Today one in our party order an omelet with potato hash and the hash was all onions. When brought to the waitresses attention she only said Im sorry. This review is more of the experience rather than the food. Parents with their kids who want to eat at this restaurant don't bother coming here. I came here for lunch with my friend and her daughter. We had kids with us who were under 2. The hostess wasn't very warm and welcoming. We should've just taken that as a sign to not eat there. But we have decided against since my friend liked the food here. The waiter we had was fine. He seemed like he didn't care to really serve us and give us a positive or welcoming experience. So we ordered food and drinks. Those came out fairly quickly . Our waiter came to check on us 1 time for the 45 mins we were there. Like I said we had kids with us there. So my son who is fairly spirited toddler and does not sit in the high chair anymore was running on the booth which we didn't think it was a big deal. Again he is 2. So we had dirty looks from the older clientele which is fine but what really bothered us. Someone had the audacity to harass my friend and I about it. This is the 2nd place at the promenade that I've had problems with people not wanting to serve us due to our babies. We had decided to leave after this incident. Just went there for lunch, my order was fine, they messed up my spouse order, she ordered salad with steak ( filet mignon), they brought a burger, it was sent back of course, they brought a salad after a while, steak full of fat, no char outside, inside was completely raw, she decided to sent it back, lost her appetite, ask for the check, the waitress said, the manager took it out of the bill, didn't come himself. Came to celebrate my anniversary on 6/22/24 with my husband. My husband noted it when he made the reservation and there was no mention of it. The two children put in charge of hosting did not even greet us with a smile or utterance of a hello. Just stared at us and waited for us to speak. Like Wtf? Place is pretty with a nice vibe but that's all it can say for itself. Ordered the "homemade" ravioli and for $30 it sucked. I've had homemade ravioli and this wasn't it. Hard edges and very al dente. It didn't taste any different than the frozen raviolis I boil at home. Service was not good. Waiter came back with our wines and mixed them up and also did not bring a fresh glass for my second glass that he poured my husband's wine into from the carafe. Then our waiter didn't come back for more than 25 minutes after we finished our meal. He passed by us many times and ignored our craning necks looking for him. Place wasn't that busy either. He was offering dessert, but I just wanted to check at that point. Overpriced sub par meals. Went to the roof thinking the rooftop bar was still there. We were instead met with a rude response from bartender that it's not the same restaurant. Whatever. She could have been nicer. Melt is right there on the promenade but once you step inside, the darker ambiance transports you into an upscale and chic atmosphere that makes you believe you could be in New York or Philadelphia. Your date better be worth it, because the food is worth it and you'll of course pay. Service is attentive and gracious, but they aren't here to crack Godfather lines for free. We came in after a matinee screening and it made for a very pleasant evening out. Restrooms are at the top of the steps, and there are elevators. The only reason I deducted a star is because Level 3 isn't here anymore. They created this rooftop lounge experience which would've been fun to attend to after dinner, but lo and behold, the cappuccino here surely didn't disappoint! read more

What a terrible way to handle confusion with the order by "manager" Megan! We were 2 and decided to order 3 appetizer the small portion of three pasta to experience all items that caught our attention. When the food came up, our surprise was obvious of how big the portion was and obviously there was confusion and miscommunication. We made it clear to the server that she can take them back and bring us the small appetizer portion we ordered, however the server Brittany who was attentive more than the manager insisted that you can have them and that she will work it out with the manager. This restaurant is located in the Shops of Center Valley (Lehigh Valley). The restaurant's interior has a trendy decor with lighting that is easy on the eyes. It is very inviting. The service was fast and courteous. The wine list was extensive. Our server was attentive and caring. I had the Seafood Soup of the day and it was love at first bite. It was delicious. I was able to taste the spices and the different selection of fish bites within the soup. Loved the combination. A great appetizer. For the main course, I had the Roasted Rack of Lamb which was presented really well in an appetizing manner. It took me no time to devour the dish with my cabernet. The meat was soft and delicious to the taste. I literally ate it to the bone. For Dessert I had the Tiramisu. It was delicious. Soft in the mouth however filled with great tastes. I visited Melt with a group of girls for my cousin's bachelorette party. I loved the ambiance and got a peek at the third floor night club (very trendy!!!!) The drinks were delicious and I enjoyed the fresh baked bread and oil in the table. The reason I'm giving it three stars is because of their pizza. A nice restaurant like Melt doesn't have a large menu. It's an Italian restaurant. Many nice Italian restaurants serve pizza or flatbreads. I ordered a margherita pizza with tomato and fresh mozzarella cheese. What I got was a kids microwaved pizza with old basil thrown on it. No fresh mozzarella. No fresh tomato. This was not true margherita pizza. I'm disappointed that such a nice restaurant couldn't figure that out. I ended up eating most of it because I was starving. The dessert (Oreo cheesecake) was top notch and large enough to share. If I were to ever go back to Melt, I'd stay far away from their pizzas...you should do the same! read more

Melt never disappoints. They have an excellent assortment of drinks at the bar, and their food is always prepared well!

The Italiam meatballs were mediocre at best. They were on the dry side. We sent one out of two mestballs back. The Manza pizza was out of this world! Finger licking good! Chef's special Sun-dried tomato risotto was absolutely delicious!! Order it while they have it! The carbonara pasta was good, but I'd order the penne spinaci next time. I've been here several times for dinner. I would rate the food at 4/5 stars (always good, but sometimes a little on the bland side), but Melt really shines with its amazing ambiance and incredible customer service. My latest experience at Melt was phenomenal. We had our rehearsal dinner here for our wedding. 27 people attended, and all our guests raved about the food, service and atmosphere. The events manager, Craig Farley, was incredibly accommodating. He let me set up early in the day, printed out custom menus, allowed for menu changes, and was the consummate host the entire night. Our servers were patient, prompt, and incredibly friendly. I know it's not easy waiting on large parties, but the Melt staff was awesome. The bread, salad, dinner and dessert all came out in a timely manner and was all the perfect temperature and was delicious. One of my groomsmen is still raving about his chicken dish and claims it was "the best chicken" he's ever had. The cost of our event was surprisingly affordable, and actually the same as a local brew pub with lesser quality food. I would definitely recommend dinner here, and would especially recommend having an event here. read more

Melt was fantastic! I'm so glad my girl friend decided to take me here, for my birthday! Our experience was first rate from the second we walked in the door. We were greeted by the hostess, who took our coats, acknowledged my birthday (with an enthusiastic smile), and sat us by the fire place. Our server, Gina, was truly a delightful young woman...very attentive, and too made mention of my birthday. This made me feel very special! We started with a bottle of the Paul Dolan, 2013, Pinot Noir. An exceptionally smooth red, with a nice oak finish. This may be the first red my girl friend truly enjoyed. Next, we requested bruschetta. Gina, informed us this item was no longer on the menu, but would find out if the chef would make an exception for us. In the mean time, we ordered the Pollo (grilled chicken, basil pesto, ricotta, asiago, mozzarella). The crust was perfect, the cheese smooth, not too much garlic, and a good portion of chicken. Then, surprisingly, Gina brought us two pieces of bruschetta!! She served it, smiled, and said, "happy birthday, from the chef." At this point, we were REALLY enjoying our visit. Next, we order our entrees. The lady ordered Fettuccine Bolognese (fresh fettuccine, ground veal, beef, pork, cream, tomato sauce). I ordered Gamberetti e Fagioli (sautéed shrimp, cannellini bean ragu, fresh herb salad). Both entrees were fantastic! delicious flavors, the right temperatures, and all served with a smile and a pour from our bottle of Pinot Noir. Finally, we ordered desert. I ordered a double espresso and Tiramisu (mascarpone cream, ladyfingers, espresso crumble, chocolate torta). The lady ordered Torte di Mela (roman apple cake, caramel sauce, vanilla gelato). A few moments after we ordered, Gina returned with a complimentary birthday prosecco, and a piece of the pastry chef's amazing cheesecake (the name, of which, I can't remember). Now, we were REALLY, REALLY enjoying our visit!! Each dessert was decadent, and the flavors, simple. Even the slice of apple garnish, on the Torte di Mela, was exceptional. Melt has a certain aesthetic that I find appealing, crossing chic, modern decor with the open spaces of tasteful Italian marble. Importantly, it's impressive AND comfortable to be in. Menu is quite expansive, and portions are just right for the average eater. Quality is very good, and the staff is very accommodating. They do steaks very well, which tends not to be the case in a lot of restaurants catering to specific ethnic food. Seafood there has always been very fresh. Drinks are appropriately boozy. So, the Lehigh/Saucon Valley holds a special place in my heart. My mom grew up here and many important people in my life still reside in Bethlehem, which, to me, embodies healthy American suburbia. I went here on two occasions. Once for a friend's birthday and another for my one year anniversary with my husband. I was very pleased, especially when I went for our anniversary. The mood and atmosphere are just right. Very dim lighting makes you forget it's broad daylight outside. Also, the staff is very well trained. This is the kind of place that gives you an excuse to put on your fancy heels ladies. After eating here, my expectations for Italian cuisine have skyrocketed. The food is really amazing. The first time I went I ate spaghetti and meatballs. They sure know how to make a ball full of meat...they were HUGE! When I went for our anniversary they had a really good deal that included an appetizer, two entrees, and two separate desserts. I wish I could remember the price. On top of that, my husband had made reservations and mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary so they gave us complimentary cheesecake and champagne! That cheesecake was phenomenal! My all-time favorite is the calamari and the sauce that goes along with it. I'm drooling just writing about it. Order the calamari. I repeat. Order the calamari! Been here before. Food was always up to par. This time it was beyond awful. Rack of rare lamb was brought to the table raw and unrecognizable. The chicken breast was so overdone it was inedible. The other chicken parmigiana was adequate but lacked flavor. The pasta side was unremarkable. The calamari and the baked clams not worth discussing. A complete disappointment. Some customers walking about without masks. Makes you wonder what else?. A beautiful place but we have no desire to return. Perhaps when Covid-19 is finally gone things will substantially improve. I had the calamari(appetizer) and tuna. Calamari description on the menu did not match what I expected but it was okay. It was deep fried calamari with a doctored up tartar sauce. Nice portion size. Tuna entree (4 small steak cuts) was good but I best enjoyed the couscous side with/Mexican salsa relish topping. During my visit I happened to grab dinner at the bar. The level of service during my dining experience was less than stellar based on the place not being busy and serving competence of my bar tender. When my food arrives ... I should not have to ask for eating utensils. Additionally, always appropriate to ask when dinner arrives -if anything else is needed. Not to mention when I asked for a straw for my water, I observed the bartender reach with bare hands to get straw and proceed to drop it in my water--nope not in my drink! Came here for my birthday dinner this past year. The place looks beautiful and trendy, and they had a great drinks selection. I had a bourbon beer which was on tap. Had great service the one time I went. Very accommodating. Here's the thing.... the food was pretty inconsistent throughout our evening here. My dad ordered fish which was spoiled and had to send it back. He then ordered something non-fish related and really enjoyed it. My mom had the filet mignon and LOVED it. I ordered seafood skewers, and the seafood was so tough and not very flavorful. My boyfriend ordered the chicken parm with a side of carbonara pasta. He liked the chicken parm (but how can you go wrong with that?), but said the carbonara was way too salty to even eat. I love salty things, so I tasted it, and it was even too salty for my taste. Dessert was yummy. We got chocolate mousse. Not sure if the expensive prices are worth the gamble on the food here. read more

Another fabulous anniversary dinner at Melt! We were seated in a booth up a few stairs overlooking the fireplace. I love the elegance of the restaurant and the romantic atmosphere for a date night! Our service was excellent--we were not rushed and service was attentive but not smothering. Hubby and I had the Arugula salad, the Halibut special, and the Cioppino. We were offered a celebratory espresso cheesecake for dessert, but we were too full to eat it so it was boxed up to go. Everything was fantastic. Our only disappointment is that the steamed clams appetizer is off the menu right now. We get it. Different season--different menu options. Full disclosure, in the past we've driven close to an hour to come to Saucon Valley for that appetizer when it's on the menu. Melt's steamed clams with chorizo? in the broth is the best steamed clams I've ever eaten and I'm a big-time foodie with experiences in a lot of restaurants in PA and NJ. The clam offering now is more of a clams casino which was just okay. Maybe the steamed clams app will return fall or winter? Here's hoping! read more
