If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! I recently threw a party for 120 people at my home and worked with Dom from Pizzaiolo in Commack--and let me tell you, he was an absolute lifesaver. From start to finish, Dom made the entire process stress-free. He helped me figure out the perfect menu, the right quantities, and even recommended appetizers that ended up being a huge hit. On the day of the party, Dom went above and beyond by arranging two separate deliveries--one for appetizers and another for the main dishes a few hours later--so we didn't have to worry about keeping the food warm. That level of service alone deserves five stars! And the food? OUTSTANDING. From the garlic knot meatball parm sliders (which disappeared in minutes!) to the creamy penne alla vodka, everything exceeded my expectations. My guests, who came from all over the country to celebrate my parents' 50th anniversary, could not stop raving about the food. Dom was easy to talk to, flexible, and truly cared about making our event perfect. I can't recommend Pizzaiolo and Dom enough. If you want want an unprofessional environment, this is the place. I have walked in several times while, who I believe is the the boss/owner, was yelling on the phone to his wife I think. Quite an awful experience. As well as seeing some of the older men behind the counter work with their bare hands. I stop in for a slice at Pizzaiolo, Commack, whenever I'm in the neighborhood and it is always delicious, especially the crust. It's so good we decided to cater a small party. I don't usually Yelp, but I'm saying it was excellent! We ordered trays of grilled balsamic chicken, veal parmigiana, and pene allá vodka, fried ravioli and a salad. First, I'll commend them for the preparation. The salad and the chicken and vegetables were quite nicely done. Everyone at the party loved the food! It was cooked just right and it was delicious. They delivered on time as expected and the gentleman who delivered our food (who I recognized from the pizzeria) was very polite. Lastly, the cost was more than fair, especially if you consider I would have ordered from one of the other excellent restaurants closer to me which would have cost much more. I am disappointed. Shopped at the Meat Farms in the same plaza as this place a few days ago and it smelled amazing. I just had to try it. Finally got the chance to today and I am less than pleased. The pizza is extremely overpriced and what you end up getting is mediocre at best. The bread is light and fluffy but also crunchy at the same time which is great for pizza but the sauce was missing something -- seasoning. It tasted like someone had whipped up tomato sauce straight from a can with the crappiest cheese they could find in the clearance aisle of a Walmart straight onto great pizza bread. A waste of it, if you'd ask me. No amount of grated cheese, oregano or red pepper could save this pizza. The garlic knots were alright despite being once again, unseasoned. Doesn't even come with anything to dip with. Finally, my last gripe is the service. When my pizza was finally ready (after probably 30 minutes or so of waiting with a mostly empty restaurant), the waitress brought it to me with no plates and without my garlic knots. When I asked her about the garlic knots, she said they were almost done but I could see her put them in the oven as she walked back to the counter. When she came back, I asked for some grated cheese since there was none at the table (or anywhere in sight for that matter) and she completely ignored me, walking away to go back to the counter. Completely unprofessional. I really wanted to like this place, somewhat expecting it to be my next regular pizza joint but as I said at the beginning of this review. I am disappointed. 2/5, I'd rather make my own pizza. read more

Went there last night 5/28/22 for Pizza Take Out. Our youngest son has a terrible time digesting dairy We ordered him a personal pizza with eggplant ( no cheese ). We also ordered a plain pie, then a side with some meatball & sausage. We also got a personal Margarita with eggplant Everything was excellent !!! * Saturday night on Memorial Day Weekend & the lady at the counter as well as the gentleman that appeared to be the owner were extremely nice to everyone there. What a disappointment ! This place used to be good but now it just isnt good at all. Our normal place to order pizza had too long of a wait so I call to place an order from here. Three pizzas, salad and a dinner. Counter staff rings it up, I pay with a credit card. Lady at counter asks if I want the receipt. I say say OK and on the receipt there is a 4% service charge for paying by credit card. The lady points to a small piece of paper, about an 1 inch by 3 inches on the register, partially obscured by the counter that mentions it. Owner was not present so it did nothing to try to explain that the way they do this violates NY State law. Businesses are permitted to offer a cash discount taken off listed prices but they are not permitted to add a service fee, surcharge etc to the listed prices at the time of payment. I'm sure the owner knows this and just doesnt care. They dont tell you over the phone when you place the order and they dont tell you when you when you hand the credit card to pay. It seems they purposely dont provide the receipt without asking hoping you dont see the service fee. Pick up a $70 takeout order and get hit with a fee for paying by credit card that they apparently try to hide. Not a place that I will ever go back to especially because the pizza wasnt good. Two regular pizzas, one overcooked, the other under cooked. A pizza place that cant get pizza done correctly. Thats funny. A chicken dinner with pasta that is so overcooked its barely edible. A salad with brown lettuce for $10. I wont be going back because of the food and especially the extra service fee. read more

Not making the pie well done combined with the unrelenting amount of cheese, bbq sauce, chicken, cheese, more cheese, and ... did I mention cheese. When I picked up the first slice, everything slid off into the middle of the pizza box... on top of the other mounds of ingredients. Came here on Valentines' day for the heart-shaped pizza with garlic knots. Could not have been more disappointed in everything....After waiting quite awhile for the pie that I had pre-ordered by phone with a pre-determined pick up time, they gave my pizza to someone who arrived after me, so I had to wait yet again while a new pie was made. After a collection of bad experiences I feel compelled to review. The past 3 times I have gone here the experience has been really bad. The first experience was about 3 weeks ago when I went for a lunch slice. Thought it took a little long but I didn't say anything and much to my chagrin the slice came out burnt. I told them no big deal and they gave me another slice which I was fine with. Then about a week later I ordered a chicken roll over the phone and was told to pickup in 15 minutes, I was actually about 5 minutes late and when I got there the chicken roll was not even put in the oven which was a surprise. I canceled the order and left. I decided to give the place a break but went back just to order a slice for lunch today, I literally was the only customer in the store so I figured it would be pretty simple but no I am sitting there for about 15 minutes and purposely did not say anything to see how long it would take for them to recognize that I was still there. At last the kid takes the slice out and comments to me that the slice is extra crispy ((burned) and I hope that's okay, I commented no it was not it was not ok and left. I rarely get slices so I rarely request a receipt but for some reasons I did today and found out that they are surcharging all cards even debit cards which is illegal. I contacted the attorney general of the state of New York and filed a form and also will be disputing the charge with my bank. WARNING, THIS BUSINESS IS SURCHARGING DEBIT CARDS WHICH IS ILLEGAL IN THE STATE OF NY. read more

A decent place to eat with better slices than the other PizzaiolA establishments on the island. The patrons at lunch are loud on their cell phones but I guess there are bigmouths everywhere these days. The big guy behind the counter was very professional and helpful. The only recommendation I would make to management is to install a vestibule either outside or inside during the winter so as to not freeze out your customers every time the door opens. The business may focus on take out but since there are no seats in the back where it's warm, please make it comfortable for the patrons who decide to dine in (and when I went, there were enough to occupy most of the dozen or so tables they have there). Final decision.. I recommend this Pizza restaurant and would go back to try other options on the menu. read more

I have to say, this was my go to Italian restaurant, until, I want about dinner one night and upon picking it up I asked if there's any discount for first responder, as many restaurants do honor the discount. With a huff and a puff, mr grumpy sighed and said, yea I'll give you 10% off. Now I'm not new to the place. They've seen me there plenty. I said great thanks. Then I said o I forgot my free garlic knots to another worker who said no problem and put them in the oven to warm. Mr. Grumpy who acted like I got a million dollars off my meal yells over while I was waiting for my order " do u have your coupon?" I said yes hold on. I went into my wallet and realized I left it at home. He actually said I couldn't have them!!!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing or how I was treated. I was going to go home get it and shove it in his face but he wasn't worth my time and effort. What a disgraceful way to treat frontline workers. And yes I do tip when picking up an order. Not then I didn't. AND btw, the calarmari was half filled in the tin the other half had lemons. Almost like half an order. I will take my business elsewhere. The only reason we'd go there is they're one of the few that make real bacon pizza and grilled chicken brocollirabe hero's. Been here since 1986 totally disgusted with this place in how I was treated. Maybe we should treat his family the same way when he comes to the hospital?? Go elsewhere. Ginos is good so is Primavera. PS. The owner John called me today June 3, to apologize for the way I was treated. I get that this is a time of anxiety for everybody and we all have our issues. Maybe it was a bad day. All I know is I came in happy that I didn't have to cook. As a follow-up I appreciate the owner taking his time to look into this and calling me with an apology. That is the right thing to do for any good customer service and establishment. I have deleted some of my review as I will give this establishment another chance to treat me as a customer right. These guys have pizza pedigree. You can tell by their sauce & crust, the variety of pizzas & the overall quality of their food. When my favorite pizza place, D'lusso's, closed, I went on a quest to find my new place. Believe me, I've tried every place in a 5 mile radius & none measured up. So, I went to the Meat Farms shopping center & found Pizzaiolo. I ordered a Buffalo Chicken pie as a first test because I've found not many places make it well. Well, Pizzaiolo's version was awesome. The right amount of sauciness. Spicy, but not overwhelming & the crust was a perfect balance: crusty on the outside, but still chewy. As a side note, the wife & I got 4 dinners out of this pie. One slice is a meal. Tonight, I tried the calzone, a balsamic/mozzarella slice, & a white/spinach slice. All excellent. I was surprised at how good the calzone was because I'm picky when it comes to calzones. I'm used to the deep-fried version, but this was baked & it was very good which is a testament to their dough. Both of the slices were also delicious. Anyway, give this place a shot. You want be disappointed. read more

By far the best pizza in the Commack area. Their speciality slices are off the hook, and their regular food is delicious as well. You can pop in here at anytime during the day or night and everything looks so fresh. The staff is super nice, always accommodating. So I ordered 4 pies with different toppings to go for a Superbowl party and the pizza was a big hit. The pizza here is the best in town in my opinion. The dough is both crispy on the outside and soft on the inside but not overly doughy which i really liked. The sauce and cheese tasted great and the meat toppings had a very high quality taste, I ordered a pepperoni pizza from here and the pepperoni was very flavorfull unlike some other pepperoni slices I've had in town where it's just a rush of saltiness. The service was great as I ordered the pies to be ready at 6 and they were all on time and the service was great, very nice people. Will be back. read more
