My husband and I recently stumbled upon Gio's Pizza & Restaurant during an extended stay in Islip. We moved from New York to the West Coast and have been dying for some quality, delicious New York pizza. Gio's Pizza & Restaurant was everything we loved and missed. It truly tasted like a slice of home for us. Delicious and fresh slices with friendly and quick service, we could not have asked for a better experience. We found ourselves coming back several times during our trip. Gio's Pizza & Restaurant is located in a small strip of shops with free parking shared among the businesses. The establishment has several chairs and tables for customers to sit and enjoy their slices. Many people at the time of our visits took their food to go, but it's nice that they have the option to eat in if people would prefer that. They offered many different types of pies on display and also had some awesome daily specials. I'm fairly simple with my order with a plain slice and some garlic knots, but my husband tried an array of things and enjoyed everything. Gio's Pizza & Restaurant is going to be a staple place for us to visit the next time we're in Islip. Excellent food, good service, and fair pricing. read more

I've been here many times and it's also the preferred pizza place of a past job of mine! The service is great, the ambiance is amazing and they have great pizza! They also have a reoccurring deal, they make cinnamon knots either on Thursday or Fridays, I don't remember. But they're awesome and I haven't seen another place do that! read more

A Mets theme pizza restaurant. I'm a Yankees fan but I can forgive them. A friend brought me here and ordered his favorite, grandma's pizza with extra sauce, garlic, and meatballs. Not what I would order but he was treating. Fortunately it was very good. In fact, probably the best pizza I've had in a while. In my quest to find the best pizza on Long Island I went back to my hometown of East Islip where I have found many pizzerias lacking in effort. Well thank god for Gio's Pizza. Asked for a well done slice for me and a heated slice for my grandson. It was near perfect for both of us. I felt on the barstool scale it was an 8.9 and my grandson even reviewed it at a 9.3 and he's pretty fussy (also his name is Gio so that may have boosted the score). By way of recommendation, my wife and I stopped at Gio's after a nice hike at Hecksher Park. We stopped in and we felt extremely welcomed by the friendly owner and staff. They were helpful and explained what their signature slices/pies were. Being from the Commack area, we are used to over the top pizzerias... Gio's competes and beats all of them. Delicious slices and creative too! We had about 5 different types of slices, which were all fantastic. We can't wait to come back and try the deep dish meatball parm pizza pie. Me and a friend decided to eat in at this place. She order the pesto grilled chicken platter that comes with a salad and I ordered penne ala vodka with fried chicken cutlet. 20 minutes passed and still nothing, I got up to ask the guy about my order and he went back into the kitchen and said a few minutes. 10 minutes later we got our order with one salad. We didn't say anything, we enjoyed the food, yes it was delicious, but the service was not too attentive. Now time comes around and the guy claims that the person who took our order didn't tell him, so I told him what we took, he decided I needed to pay more than what they priced there food on the menu. My order was 22.95 and my partners order was 21.95, but he decided to charge me 58.00 total. We also had 2 20oz drinks, I don't believe that could have been more than 5.00. The total should've been approx 49.99 + tax, but we were charged 58. It sad that they treated me this way because I really enjoyed their food. The family has never tried Hawaiian pizza before but really wanted to give it a try. We said if we are going to spend money on a new flavor of pizza as something so controversial as pineapple on pizza, it absolutely has to be from the best pizza place we know!! OMG was this food good. We just moved here and decided to give this place a try on Father's Day and we were not disappointed. The grandma pie was made perfectly. Best I've had. Just enough cheese , Sauce and crisp. The sauce is so flavorful and reminds me of my grandmothers sauce. Highly recommend. We also had the calzone , bbq wings and buffalo chicken roll. Calzone was crispy and packed with ricotta and ham. The bbq wings had a lot of sauce. The buffalo roll was not too spicy and the outside was so so good. We definitely will be back to try entrees. During this pandemic I am taking a simple approach to my reviews, which is to only write reviews to that has amazing food/ service. And I must say Gio's pizza is great. This review is solely based on delivery. It was a Saturday and my husband's family came over . We decided to order to order pizza for a late lunch. We ordered a grandma pie and a large plain pie. The total was about $38 not including a tip. They made the delivery was made within 40 minutes or so. Not too bad , I would that's the typical delivery time. We devoured the plain. Our family including us loved the plain pizza. The sauce was perfect and the cheese was very tasty. We finished the plain quickly . Everyone was asking for more. Not because it was a small in size but because it was delicious. The reason for the four stars ? ... well I have to admit we didn't love the grandma pizza as much. When compared to the taste of the plain pizza the grandma was bit of a let down. The sauce was bit too tangy for everyones palette. And the sauce empowered the cheese and crust. It was not my favorite. I definitely had better. We will definitely plan on ordering from Gio's in the future but I think we will skip the grandma for now. read more

That's wouldn't ordinarily be too big of a deal, but the food was coming to a multiple floor home for old folks. I went down for it, but come on management:what about people who lack mobility? Chunky sweet sauce, crushed basil, garlic and herbs, generous amounts of gooey mozzarella, and a layer of shredded romano/parmesan cheese sit atop a medium-thin oven-baked crust, and it is absolutely effing GLORIOUS. Hands down, the best Grandma pizza I've had, to date. The garlic knots are interestingly different, too -- but in a good way, if you're not specifically craving the harder, crustier knots that is more common to Long Island pizzerias. Baked as soft, garlicky rolls rather than individual hand-tied knots, they're soft on the inside, and greasily flavorful on the outside. So squishy and delicious. Just moved to the area and this is the second pizza place we tried. The grandmas pie was fantastic I would highly suggest it to everyone. The pizza only took about 15 minutes to be delivered to my house which I though was very fast. The pie was still hot and fresh. We also had a calzone with ham, bbq wings, and a buffalo chicken roll. Every part of the meal was amazing. Will definitely be trying their dinners some time soon. read more

When I went to pick up my order that I had called to p/u and I was told my bill was almost $20.00 ! When I questioned how much was the ceasar salad with chicken and he told me 19.50. My husband is here for his 30th year high school reunion. We traveled from Houston Texas where he now calls home. He wanted me to see what real pizza tastes like so we got a couple slices to go. It's been two years since I've been back in my old hometown, East Islip, N.Y., but when I went for my East Islip High School reunion, staying with my girlfriend, Barbara, we headed straight to Gio's. We ordered a slice of plain cheese pizza and sampled it and then headed to two other places close by to compare which pizza tasted best. Gio won HANDS DOWN!!! The crust is thin and soft (foldible) but crispy on the outside, the mozzarella and sauce flavor delicious! Gio's Pizza is the quintessential Neapolitan pizza and it's delicious. It would make Gennaro Lombardi, who first dished up his pies in 1905, at his Lombardi's Pizza -- proud! Now from the outside, it is non descript. It's in a strip mall that's been there forever, since I was a kid. I lived there in the 1960's when Eleanor & Pike was there, and Bob's Candy Store was right on the corner, complete with deli and a laundramat...Oscar's across the street.
