When I got to Memorial Bakery my fat girl eyes lit up. I wanted EVERYTHING!! The place was very clean and organized and the lady at the counter was very friendly. I'm sure u guys are going to get to know me. Because I'm going to start writing reviews on everything. You will see that I am huge on working out and not wasting calories on food that is not delicious. My best friend got the red velvet.. I tasted it.. Why did it taste like a sponge cake? I've had better red velvet cupcakes at Walmart!! I didn't try the Italian, but my best friend gave it to his grandmother. When my best friend gives away food its clearly not good, because my best friend is a fat ass (i can say that but you cant). And last the cheese cake balls.. I thought that some kind of cream cheese would be inside.. Girl Please.. That whole thing was a mess.. I feel like I just went and gave them 10 dollars.. I could have given that to kids to go get ice cream or something... I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.. Stopped by with my sister when we were in the area earlier this week. It was only around 7 and they were busy closing up shop early, despite being advertised as open until 8.. Looked through their pastry offerings which included cake pops, cupcakes, cookies, petit fours and some other things which slip my mind. Their macarons were TINY and were way overpriced. Decided on petit fours since it had been awhile since I've had them. BIG MISTAKE. Worst petit fours i've ever had. The icing literally tasted like diabetes. Too much powdered sugar. Today I gave the tapioca drink another shot. I'm not saying that it was the best tap in the world, but one of the better places in Memorial. They have definitely improved on the flavor of the drink. Although the tapioca is still flavorless, it is soft. And my green milk tea actually tasted like green milk tea this time; not that gross powder that other tap places in memorial have started using. So, if you're in the area, and craving tap, this place may be your best bet. I will definitely drop by this place more often. Tip: They definitely OD'd on the amount of ice they added to my drink, which made it difficult to sip up the tapioca, so be sure to ask for light ice! read more

When I walked in, I found that the decor and shelves of pastries looked rather neat, with the items being seemingly perfect. But upon getting a Tiramisu, German Chocolate Cupcake, and Lemon Pound Cake, I was profoundly disappointed. Tiramisu should be a light dusting of chocolate on top of sweetened mascarpone cheese, with a base of ladyfingers dunked in coffee, with a faint hint of rum. What I got was a poorly flavored sponge cake. The German Chocolate Cupcake was practically just a dark chocolate cupcake with German chocolate frosting. And the Lemon Pound Cake tasted like it had lemon juice on the baking pan, instead of the food itself. I will not be coming back, and the only reason there is two stars is because at least the pastries looked nice. But to paraphrase Paul Hollywood, you should never put style before substance. read more

I've been here a few times and absolutely love their pecan squares! I get them every time. They taste just like pecan pie....Yum-o! I always pick out something new as well and their sugared & frosted cookies are really good, as well as their cupcakes. *If you're looking for custom cookies, do not waste your money at Memorial Bakery. We have used Memorial Bakery for several special occasions in our family and unfortunately they have disappointed us to where we don't want to order from them again. My sister placed a custom order for my 40th birthday party, sending pictures of cookies that Memorial Bakery said they could do with no problem. A couple weeks later and the day before my party, we receive a box of botched cookies, not presentable for a milestone party. The icing was messy, not dried before packaging and what's more disappointing is that when my family wanted an explanation on why the product was so terrible, the store employees said it wasn't their specialty anymore and they've had complaints before, but somehow thought it was okay to continue promising customers they could do it. This is the last time I will order from Memorial Bakery. I placed a Custom Order two weeks ago & told them I would either pick it up Friday afternoon or it could be possibly Sat morning. In other words, if I do not show up Friday, do not be alarmed, I will be there Saturday morning. I called today (Thursday morning) to let them know, I would be there Friday before closing. I was told the person that took the order was given a choice of Friday or Sat, he chose Sat. too bad, so sad. Seriously... ?? and the most frustrating part was he kept talking over me and would not let me give my side. He was more interested in giving me. refund than solving my problem. Any holiday you can show up and they will have fresh cakes ready to buy. I ordered 5 custom cakes here. My favorite flavors are the Chocolate cake with Strawberry or Raspberry filling and the White Cake with Custard filling. People always rave and take cake home. They are reasonably priced until you start stacking round tiers, then they have to charge you wedding cake prices. I have ordered a cake and cupcakes here before and loved them... but was very disappointed in cookie order for an Open House. The colors did not match request, the icing was sloppy and we were charged $3 per cookie when it didn't even look like an adult made them... We were refunded, but unfortunately could not have cookies at the event due to how bad they looked. Memorial Bakery lost a repeat customer and would advise others to not get custom cookies from here. read more

Cupcakes - 4 stars. I chose three different favors of cupcakes from their display case. They were moist and flavorful and the icing was delicious. Dinner rolls - 1 star. There was a modest selection of various breads displayed and I only chose a small package of six dinner rolls. The cupcakes and rolls were purchased as a donation to a dinner In which I had been invited. Much to my embarrassment, when the rolls were removed from the package, they all had several spots of mold. Shame on a bakery to have something like that on their shelves. It takes several days to develop a mold on fresh bread, so I have to wonder with such carelessness, just how old is everything displayed at this bakery? Yuck - I won't be returning! read more

Great cookies and cakes. They make special occasion cakes and holiday cookies with the fancy icing decorations. Love the long john donuts here! They are super busy during the holidays when they make tons of pecan pies, pound cakes, and everything for a dessert party tray. I usually phone orders in, but this time I was pressed for time - so I just dropped by to see what they had in the cake case. Picked up a carrot cake and the family loved it. The cake was extremely moist and had visible pieces of carrot. The cream cheese frosting was a bit sweet for me, but everyone else raved about it. I'm just not a big sweet frosting person. It must have been darn good, because everyone took home leftovers and hubby and I were left with the box. :) I also tried their chocolate cupcakes for the first time. Not really a big fan - they are really on the overly sweet side. If you ask me, I'm sticking to their cakes. :) I've been in love with all of the cakes that we have ordered. I have not, however, been thrilled about the cupcakes. I recently tried their chocolate cupcakes. It was definitely too sweet for me. One bite was enough. Unfortunately, it wasn't love at first bite. Family friendly, closed on Sundays (that's a plus in my book), tasty and lovely treats as well as cakes, reasonable prices and great service. They have a big coffee/caffeinated drink selection now but I haven't tried it. My husband and I happened on this place years ago when we were looking to buy a mattress next door and then ended up getting our wedding cake and subsequent anniversary cakes here. We like to stop by every time we're in the area with our kids. : ) They have wifi but they don't have tvs and screens to distract from having conversation. They also have couches, tables and LOTS of board games though it looks like the couches and board games are off limits currently due to covid precautions. One last plus is that they're very supportive of their community. If you need bread or a sweet, I'd visit them. read more

I went in to Memorial Bakery for a consultation to specifically order a cake completely covered in fondant for a wedding shower to look like a Tiffany gift box. They said they could do it after I showed them the cake I wanted and even had me email the specific cake design to them. They showed me a cake similar to the one I wanted in the store, again stating that it was all fondant. (This was important due to the distance the cake was going to travel.) Though I only needed a cake for 15 people, the salesperson convinced me that a larger cake would be better to hold up the fondant frame so I acquiesced. Two days before I was to pick up the cake, I called to verify my order. I was again told my cake would be all fondant with butter cream frosting underneath. The day I picked up the cake, I checked it quickly, but did not notice that the sides of the cake were not fondant but instead a smoothed out butter-cream. Once I arrived to the venue, however, 20 min. later, it was very apparent the entire box was butter cream as the sides did not remain stationary and were sinking and falling apart in places even though the cake was transported in a car with A/C full on blast. Though it was not what I ordered (and I was additionally convinced into buying a larger cake just so the fondant would work), the bakery manager couldn't care less about the situation. read more

Hands down, the best petite fours in Houston and I love their daily cupcake selections (beats Crave any day), however I would not waste my money on their cake balls again. They were mushy and had no flavor- the 6 year olds didn't even eat them if that tells you anything. After reading previous reviews, I didn't think I could go wrong but that wasn't the case. Also, if you need a cake, I would schedule to pick it up early as they misspelled my daughter's name and no one was available to fix it so I had to take it as is. In 2 weeks I had 2 less than desirable experiences at this bakery. I've been using them for years and just recently had these bad experiences. YUM! This place has some GREAT cookies, perfect for taking to parties or events. They also have many other cute and delicious pastries as well with a very nice seating area to enjoy them in. The prices are quite reasonable and the location is very convenient and easy to access for me. My only complaint is that the inside is not quite as cute, or aesthetically pleasing as a lot of the other dessert/fro-yo types of places in the area, and I think they could improve upon that; however, their cookies are so spot on it really doesn't matter to me. :) read more

I like this place, and frequent this strip center. They are locally owned and operated, and have a nice assortments of cupcakes and cookies. They also have really great breads, and homemade things like strawberry and banana nut bread. Coffees, lattees, and cakes galore. Their kolaches are also SUPERB!
