I went here to order interior doors. I stood around for a while before anyone back there paid any attention to me. The person who did was training. He had no idea how to do anything in the system. I basically had to click through and find everything for myself. He kept making mistakes, and it took forever. About an hour later, I finally had my print outs of the doors to go pay for them at the cashier. I looked over them while in line to realize that he did not order all the doors I needed. He had 3 of the same door. I went back and got help from another associate who had an attitude and told me what I wanted to order wasn't possible. I told her that the Clybourn store was able to order the right size door and maybe she should call them to get more info. 10 minutes later, she was frustrated and asked me what I wanted her to do. I restated that I wanted her to call the Clybourn store. She finally did and got the correct info. Another hour later, I finally had my correct print outs. The store never called me to say that my doors were in until well after I needed them for installation. They also don't install the doors. You have to find someone yourself. If I did this over again, I would have ordered from HD because they know what they're doing, and they offer installation at reasonable prices. This store is a joke. read more

They have school supplies, canned goods, and lots of other items too. MENARDS IN MORTON GROVE RE-PACKAGES DEFECTIVE ITEMS AND SENDS THEM BACK ONTO THE SHELVES TO BE SOLD AGAIN!!! First of all I would have given this store zero stars if I could but can't. I needed to replace my kitchen sink in an emergency and needed it replaced as soon as possible. So I went to Menard's. There were a lot of employee's on duty but "no one was around" if you get my gist. Tracked down one employee who couldn't help as he hadn't checked back in from lunch and the second told me he didn't work in that department. Yada yada! But in the scheme of things those were just minor complaints compared to the main issue. I purchased my sink with a faucet and side water hose included. When I got home unloaded the box that was sealed just as if it was brand spanking new. There even was cardboard around the edges of the sink for me to remove. Then the first thing that appeared peculiar is there were parts included inside a Jewel paper bag. Now if a kitchen sink is made in Viet Nam i don't think they wrap parts in a Jewel shopping bag. Then I noticed other parts appeared to have been used. Whatever, I am without a kitchen sink and need to get one installed as soon as possible. My neighbor helped me install the sink but couldn't help until the next day. So on the next day we get all the pieces out, apply the plumbers putty to the sink, make the needed adjustments to my counter top so that the sink will fit. Mind you this isn't just a 15 minute project but taking a couple of hours as replacing a kitchen sink isn't as easy as Bob Villa might make it seem. So now we've got all the parts put together, the sink is loaded, the parts are assembled and all the hoses connected and now we are ready to turn the water on and ....NOTHING. No water was coming out but the water was turned on then we both realized that it was the freaking faucet! The faucet was defective and that is why someone had returned the item. Regardless of what I should have done as soon as I noticed there might be something wrong with the sink the fact is someone at the Menard's return desk took the DEFECTIVE kitchen sink, re-packaged it and sent it back onto the store shelf for consumers to buy. That is so unprofessional and sleezy which tells me if this type of "repackaging defective items" happened to me how many other people had it happen to them, which might explain why there were at least 15 people returning items when I went there to buy the sink. I never want someone to lose their job or throw people under the bus but in cases like this I will make an exception and Menard's needs to find the guilty person or person's responsible and fire them IMMEDIATELY! If anything is grounds for dismissal then re-packaging and selling defective items is on the list. read more

Laziness and rude I was in Morton Grove's location on March 29/2018 at 8h30 am. I was disappointed with costumer services (CS). They (lady and gentleman) were so rude and lazy. I noticed that they charged an extra-price on my receipt. I talked to C S, they sent me to find that information for them (?). Is that normal? I noticed the business model that Home Depot adopts that consists of walking with the customer to find the product(s) they're looking for is in no way embraced by Menards, or at least this Menards in particular. Great prices compared to other construction stores. Lines are almost never long and pretty quick checkouts. Selection is nice and wish there was most employees to help out but like coming here for any construction products. They can even cut wood for you if you just need a few pieces. Menards February 5, 2018 Visited the Morton Grove, IL store today to purchase a sliding barndoor style door kit and door. I spoke to Franko about purchasing both and informed him they would be picked up next day. Franko stated that if you buy it today you have to take it today, that we cannot save it for you. I stated that I was going to pay for it today, he said that did not matter, we cannot allow that to happen unless you purchase it online. I went to the service counter and expressed my concern. I was told that I could purchase it today and pick it up tomorrow as long as a pickup ticket was written, they directed me to go back to that department and it would be okay. I approached Franko again and stated that I was sent back to purchase the products, he stated again that it could not be done, that ''the people at the service counter are misinformed". I went back to the service counter and spoke to the same person who was now with the store manager Amber. Amber received a call on her radio, it was Franko, he told her the same thing he told me and she stated that it could not be done. "The only way you can do it is order online and we can pull it for pickup". I asked what difference dose it make if I pay for it here or online? She stated that they do not want to have an order sit when someone else may want to purchase it! I said but it would be purchased by me. She stated a lot of people purchase items and never pick them up when we could sell the item. I said but it was purchased and if you sold it again you would be double dipping. She once again stated that I could go to the computer and she will show me how to do the process online, I stated that I do know how to do it online but thought this would be easier. It makes no sense to me what the difference would be if it was paid online or in person. I also thought it was in bad taste to discredit a co-worker to a customer as Franko did about the people at the service counter. I have started and have more items (on-line only) which will be in the thousands before I am through with Menards for a store not have a better attitude to accommodate customers. I hate this Menards - This has to be one of the WORST Menards in the entire Midwest! I few days before X-Mass I came here with my mom because she wanted some more lights. So we found some, added a 50-pound bag of salt for the sidewalks and a few holiday related things to the cart. She paid for her stuff and everything was fine until were by the exit. Some employee guy comes up to me and says: Employee: "hey can I talk to you over here for a minute?" Me: "sure what's up?" Him: "one of the employees said that you were by the DVD's and that you picked one up, but when he went over there, it wasn't on the shelf." Me: "what are you saying exactly?" Him: "well I notice you didn't buy a DVD so..." Me: "are you accusing me of something?" Him: "would you mind emptying your pockets?" Now keep in mind 5 things. 1) I was never even by the DVD section 2) I was wearing a fairly distinctive outfit I doubt I could be mistake for anyone else(a large Russian Naval hat and sport pants and green jacket) 3) Again I wasn't by the DVD's, but even if I was when people shop don't they pick items up and sometimes decide later the don't want them and could possibly put them down somewhere else in a store. 4) Over the past 4 years doing home remodeling I've spent maybe $5000 there. (At that specific store) 5) I was a retail store manager for several years, so I agreed to soothe his concerns. I emptied out all my pockets, every single one --- ear muffs, gloves, cell phone, wallet, glasses, note pad, (everything) and here's what went down: Me: "satisfied?" Him: "we must have been mistaken" (although his tone suggested "I'm sorry I couldn't bust you") Me: "yes you were, I wasn't even by the DVD's" Him "oh, ok" He walks away and I look at my mom, and note the fact he didn't even apologize. Then loud enough for him to hear it I tell her to return everything we just purchased. I then proceed toward him. Me: "you know, I think you owe me an apology" Him again "we must have been mistaken" Me: " Actually I'd like an apology from the employ the falsely accused me of stealing" Him: "that's not going to happen" Me: "What's the store Managers name?" Him: "I'm the store manager" (as he stupidly points to his name tag) Me: "ok, what's your boss's name, the district manager?" Him: "I don't have that information." Me: "so you don't know who the person is that comes and checked on your store?" Me: "what about your regional manager?" Him: "That's corporate information" Me: "what's your customer service 800 number?" Him: "We don't have one" Me: "what's your last name?" Him: "I can't give that out" Me " so you're telling me that one of your employees is either incredibly stupid or flat out lying about witnessing me steal something. Recently went here for the first and last time. We bought a fixer-upper and have some major upcoming remodels to do in many rooms of our home. This place has an amazing selection of display bathroom vanities and also a nice selection for kitchen remodel. I soon figured out that they likely have so much on display so you have something to look at while you wait for their amazingly slow and useless staff to bother to acknowledge your presence let alone decide they have time to help you. The two people we finally got to give us "assistance" (using that term loosely)... and this was after talking to literally 6 other people that either didn't work in that department despite being there or they were busy helping other customers whom we never saw... anyhow, back to the 2 that did decide to "help", I have never received such rude, curt customer service. Absolutely horrible. Not to mention this is the only large home improvement store that offers absolutely no military discount. Despite planning of spending upwards of $60,000 on home improvements in the upcoming year, Menards will not be on our list for any consideration. I would rather order online and wait for something to be shipped to me (and even pay more) than to set foot back in this horrible excuse for a business. I will end this post by stating that I have frequented many other Menards stores in Minnesota and even worked for Menards during college, so I very much wanted to love this store and provide them business. I may still shop at other Menards stores, but never this one. Here is a letter I sent to their corporate office: I went to Menards for the first time ever a couple weeks ago. I was there looking for a lawnmower and a weed whacker. While at the store in Morton Grove, I asked a gentleman to help me with the pricing of one of the weed whackers since it wasn't listed. The gentleman looked like he had down syndrome and was walking past me with a Menards shirt on. I politely asked him if he could help me and before I could finish my sentence was abruptly met with: "I work outside only" and then he very fast scurried away. So, instead of finding out the price, I laid the weedwacker back down in the space I found it and decided not to get it. I made my way over to the bedding section and was greeted by a very friendly woman and we talked about the mattresses. She told me to come back the following day if I was interested because there would be a sale. So, by this time, I forgot about the lack of customer service I had experience with the weed whacker and checked out with my lawnmower and various other items I found while perusing the store. The next day August 17, 2014 around noon, I decided to go back to that store and in fact check out the mattresses since I needed one. The lady was so nice from the day before. Again, I went to the back of the store and met with that friendly lady who helped me pick out a nice mattress and wrote me up a ticket. That's when everything went downhill.... I was sent off to the delivery desk where I must've stood there for over 45 minutes while people walked back and forth just staring at me while they were working. Finally, I was able to ask one gentleman for help, but it wasn't his department. He ended up coming back 15 minutes later surprised to see me there. He then finally paged someone. So, I wait another 20 minutes. No one shows up to this desk for me to buy the mattress and set up delivery. I decided to leave and take just a pillow I really wanted out of my cart to check out. I get to the check out and I hand the paper to the check out lady and explain to her how I waited for over an hour at that desk. She didn't seem to care. She had no solutions. So, the customer service lady walks by and by this time, I am FUMING, I asked her to SHRED the invoice the lady gave me to take to the delivery counter that I waited at for over an hour. She didn't seem to care either. No one offered to help me purchase the mattress, seemed like they didn't even care!!! So I get out in the parking lot and I put my pillow in my trunk, telling the people in the parking spot next to me all about my experience. They tell me to go back in and talk to the manager. So, I go back in and encounter Nick W. I tell him about what I just went through and he gets extremely cocky with me and says, "Well we are busy I suppose I can check you out then..." He then turns his back to me to make a snarky remark to another customer who has an issue. After he got back to me, I just told him, I didn't like how he treated that other customer and I had changed my mind about purchasing the mattress and walked out. I just couldn't imagine going through the purchasing and scheduling process with him because he had such a horrible attitude. I didn't want to give him my money or business. The level of rudeness was something I had never experienced before anywhere, ever! It took everything in me not to come back with the lawnmower and pillow and get all my money back for everything I bought there. It was by far the worst ever customer service experience of my life and I am even leaving out some other details. What's even sadder, I came back with the intent to buy a nice mattress and couldn't even do that! In working for the Chamber of Commerce in that area (Lincolnwood/Skokie), I haven't even heard of a customer service disaster story that bad. Nick was by far the rudest person I have ever encountered. Menards should be not only ashamed, but if you are serious about generating revenue, hire a manager who empowers their staff to be happy in their work, help customers and drive revenue. Home Depot and Lowe's are just around the corner. Also, you may want to read your "Yelp" reviews. I wish I had before I came back for the bed I was so excited to buy. read more

This is a gigantic store, it has everything in it. It is a block away from my house. I visit the store all the time even though their customer service deserve zero star. The guys out in the parking lots just talk to each other, asked me to wait for my turn. By the time he came, I had all my tiles but one box of tiles in my car already. Don't walk...run from Menards... they have secretly changed their store policy although that is not the policy they provide to customers... can anyone say bait and switch??? My husband and I purchased products on 11/10/2014 and paid for them with my husbands debit card. I attempted to return the products in original packaging with the receipt 11/11/2014 and was told I could get a store credit or come back with my husband debit card for a "cash" return. It was store policy, it is on your receipt. The receipt actually states: Returns with a receipt within 90 days of purchase made with cash or debit card- a cash refund will be issued. I was told to come back or take their store credit, no exceptions it is store policy. Shawn Grimm, Assistant Store Manager advised me the policy on your receipt is out dated. We have a directive to not give cash refunds. Great trick, especially during the holidays....deviate from your policy and not advise the customer to keep cash in your store. STAY AWAY.... I just called the phone number I was provided when I asked for a District Manager. It is "Guest Service" 715-875-6320. Shawn told me it is the only number he could give me. I said fine you dial the number and I'll talk to him/her. Again told it was the only number her could dial. It is a recorded message that tells the customer to submit all complaints in writing. Are you kidding me!! The Assistant Manager Shawn Grimm gives customers a phone number (long distance number too) so customers can be told to submit their complaints in writing. Gotta say, this store needs some quality control when it comes to how they train their employees. I worked retail through high school and college and no matter how irritating or rude a customer was, I never ever treated them the way they treat average customers. Don't expect any sort of respect from the people who work here, even if you're asking simple questions like "where can I find ______" and "can you please point me in the direction of ______." You can expect to be barked at by the guy in the garden center. You can expect to be mumbled at by the kid straightening shelves. You can also expect to be completely ignored by the girls at the cash register while they ring you out. They may not even bother to give you a total or tell you when it's OK to swipe your credit card. Most importantly, don't expect to find a helpful or apologetic supervisor. Not gonna happen. Came here yesterday to pick up some items for spring renovations. I was looking forward to coming here all week because I was so excited about starting my projects, but needed some guidance and assistance picking out the right equipment. I walked in expecting to be there for 45 minutes....I was there for over 2 hours. Why? Because I could not find ANYONE willing to assist me. I walked around in circles for 2 hours and for the last hour with a cart packed to the max. The employees seem to go out of their way to hide in corners avoiding customer contact. Many walked right passed me, very quickly and avoided any eye contact. I had to approach 2 employees and ask them questions and they acted like i was a nuisance. To the the manager: When a customer asks an employee a question whether it be about the location of an item or something more, they should point them in the right direction and perhaps check on them after a few minutes to see if there are any questions and to be sure they found what they were looking for. Assistance = Happy customer = Revenue. As Managers you should also be on the floor, monitoring your employees. Those same employees who lack any customer service skills. Lead by example. If I had someone to ask a few questions to, some as simple as where to find an item (the store layout is ridiculously idiotic) I would have spent so much more money. I spent a couple hundred but left so frustrated that I went to Home Depot to finish buying the rest of the items off my list. While I was there, (A total of 40 minutes) I had FOUR staff members approach me to see how they can help. They were knowledgeable and eager to assist. They were also very sympathetic about my Menards experience. I ended up repurchasing everything i bought at Menards and then some. Why? Because every dime and every item that I purchased is getting returned this weekend. This location, these employees and this business do not deserve anyones hard earned money. Also what moron decided it was ok to put an entrance and exit so far away from each other. I'm just kidding guys, I really enjoyed navigating a 1/2 mile through the parking lot in the snow with an overloaded cart filled with unbagged items. The dimwit cashier with the sharpie eyebrows didn't bother to bag most of my items so they were soaking wet by the time i got to my car. F.U.N. Even when I asked for help, they just told me where to go instead of coming with me. I'm usually okay with that, except for the fact that I couldn't find what I was looking for. I was always thinking that Menard's is better than Home Depot, but not anymore... Just recently I have purchased light fixture combo for one of my customers, but I noticed that the base of it is slightly too large, so I went back to the store to return it and purchase smaller one. I did pay cash for the original purchase, but I did not save the receipt for it. In the store I was told that instead of the regular price I would receive the lowest price the item was sold for. This is pretty much new item and I never seen it on sale, but I was told that this item was sold for fraction of the cost I did pay for it and that is how much I will get back for the item. I my opinion all of the items they have in stock, have been on sale somewhere in US (one item or few) Imagine how much money they get within US from you for nothing. In my opinion this is plain cheating! On single item they screw hundreds of customers out of their money. I bet you that pretty much every item in the store is set up just like that. just bought Brute Menards snow blower that broke the first week of use. I have been calling Menards for a phone number for service. it is almost impossible to speak to someone or find someone that can give me a service number. The service manual list no phone numbers for help or service. I don't even want it fixed under the warranty --I would pay for it if I can find a place that fixes their brand. I have called numerous repair shops and no one seems like they want to deal with this crap. if you are thinking of buy a lawnmower or snow blower buy a Toro or another brand name --at least you can get service . Do Not Try to refill propane tanks at this Menards. They require you to go to customer service, wait in line, and ask for someone to come out side, then you wait for forever. Today, I asked for service at the Propane station; went back to my car, got out my tank, placed it by the station, parked my car in the No Parking area - just so it would be obvious that I was waiting; AND THEN waited another 15 mins. This is the worst Menards location I have ever been to. I placed an order on 5/9/15 online for fencing materials for $850.00 and chose the "Pick up in store option." From 5/11-5/15, I received 3 emails from Menards stating that my order is ready and if I dont pick up my order by 5/20/15, my order will be cancelled and I will still be charged 10% of my total order for the processing fee for the employees to get the order ready in their back "pick up" area. I arrived at this Menards on 5/16/15 at 8:00 am to pick up my order and spent at least 20 minutes in the pick up area waiting for someone to even offer to help me. There were at least 5 employees who walked by, saw me obviously needing help, and didnt say a word. I finally spoke up to one employee who was walking by and gave him my order number since customers weren't allowed in the area where all the orders were stored. The employee spent 45 minutes walking up and down the aisles looking for my order. I again told and showed him the emails I received stating it was ready for pick up. At this point, the employee gave up and had to go in to the store and pick out the 80+ items I ordered by hand himself with the forklift (which took another hour waiting there). I then asked him why my order wasn't ready and that it's a little ridiculous that I've been here for 2 hours. His response was "sorry." He then proceeded to load the materials in my car while the other 6 employees in the back room chatted about hockey and ignored the other customers waiting for help. I finally saw the manager, who knew what was going on the entire time and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I asked him for my receipt and he said "we dont have one, you can go to the front kiosk and print it off if you want. sorry." Seriously? I just wasted 2+ hours of my day at your store when it should have taken 10 minutes and you cant even print out a receipt or apologize for the incredibly awful service? This was the worst experience I have ever had and will definitely never return to ANY Menards ever again. The lesson I learned was to ALWAYS go to Home Depot (even though you'll pay a little more) but it's definitely worth it. read more
