Be very cautious of repackaged used merchandise at this store. I bought a kitchen light and paid for a contractor to come to my house on Sunday to install it only to find that the equipment in the box was used and broken and I asked the store if there was anything they could do to compensate for my damages since I'm paying for someone to install it on a Sunday and there wasn't anything that they could do. It's unfortunate that they don't stand by their merchandise. I guess I should have purchased it through Amazon instead of going into the big box store. Lesson learned thanks Menards for nothing. I love the store even after they rebuilt the new location. Everybody there is wonderful. However, I recently bought a kitchen faucet made by Moen Adler brand and the faucet is great but beware of the spray hose. After 2 months the sprayer locked in a non-position and will not release. You have to purchase a $28 replacement that includes the hose and the spray head and after going on Moen com. Everybody on that site says the replacement works about a year and then they have to replace it again for $28. You cannot just buy the replacement head and replace it like the old days. My Menards is great. The people are great. This Moen faucet is great, but the spray head has a major design malfunction. Do not purchase it. You will not be happy. read more

I am updating my bathrooms and local Menards showroom doesn't have a lot so I decided to head here to take a look and I am glad I did. They have so much to look at versus many of the smaller suburban stores in IL so it made the trip worth it. The employee we worked with kinda rushed me & I had to keep calling the store to be able to find someone to come back and help me which it was the same guy who'd end up back helping me again. It could just be that they're understaffed currently which is understandable, but it got to be a bit much after a while. It added another 45+ minutes to my trip. The one time he said he'd be right back and was gone over 15 minutes. He got the vanity and medicine cabinet ordered and I wheeled the countertop out the same day. Someone helped put it in my car for me and I was on my way. Thankful for the 11% rebate so I can come back and buy the fixtures for the bathroom with it. read more

This location has so much more to offer than some of the others. I like that everything isn't all jam packed in the one level and things are appropriately listed and stocked. The people are always very friendly. Customer service staff very helpful. They always have a smile. Prices are very competitive. And the store is clean. She rings up my purchases without taking them out of the cart, she then leaves the area goes behind the service deck gets something out of a locker. My purchases at still in the cart at the check out area, I'm standing at the end waiting for my items, thinking she will be back in moment. Guess I was wrong she then goes about doing something else, looks over at me. And. Says "you can get your own things" and goes about doing who knows what. Well the new location is Huge, Clean and Customer Service is top notch. There is a second floor as well, it is a bit awkward trying to find your way up there though. It's probably just because the layout is new and I'm not used to it yet. Shopping carts can go to the second floor either by elevator or moving walkway. The carts have a brake system that engages when the wheels are on the walkways so don't worry about them rolling up or down the incline. Everything about this new store is bigger, aisles are super wide, shelves are taller, carts wider, garden center is GIANT and the lumber section has enough wood to build a couple houses. Along with everything being bigger come the 'overwhelmed' feeling (at least for me) because there's just SO MUCH STUFF. Fortunately, the employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. read more

Overall. I like the new store. It's huge. It reminds me of the mall. Expect to get lost and expect to have trouble finding things (unless you ask for help). Be wary of the employee that is quick to respond, we don't have that. They probably have it, but the store is so large that they can't know everything. I appreciate the ones that say they don't know but will find out. Go with a plan and a list or plan to spend a lot of time here. I was not impressed with the lawn tool selection. Seems limited, and a lot of cheap stuff that is going to break down. Always watch for coupons and sales, that is where you will find your deals. The woman working the department assured me that it wasn't used so I (mistakingly) took her word for it and bought it. I immediately took it back to the store and three employees (the 16 yr old girl working returns who was a complete snot, the women who sold it to me, and the store manager) accused me of buying it, using it, and trying to return it, all in a matter of 4 hours. Expect to walk a lot! Expect to spend time in here... Get a map at the front counter. It's fun to walk around but there's so much in here it's almost silly. The my have computer desks and bookshelves AND mattresses. Then they have things that confuse me.... Books, cards, clothes, milk, pizza, bacon, pop, snacks, toothpaste and shampoo. They list goes on. I just left this Menards and I am truly upset by the attitudes of the staff. I was looking for an item in the store for about 10 minutes because every time I went to ask an associate for help they'd walk away from me. Finally after finding someone to help me (who acted like he didn't want to) I went down to the Christmas section to more disappointment. A young man who was vacuuming rolled his eyes at me as I was about to walk down the aisle and another refused to excuse himself as he reached over me to place something on the shelf. One guy bumped into me in a tight aisle and refused to acknowledge me. The only pleasant person working there was the young lady who was at the register (who also happened to be the only Black person working in the WHOLE store.) This new Menards opened about one month ago and replaces the Menards that was 1/8th of a mile north of here. This one is much larger. I was pricing countertops for a workbench I built in my garage. They had three employees in the department to help me and the price was the best, 40% cheaper than Lowes. They have two floors of merchandise, a first for a home improvement store that I've seen. The escalators they have gradually slope up so you can take your cart up also. They even have several catwalks crossing the second floor so if you see something on the other side, you don't have to cart all the way around. If you have a thing against escalators, there's a see-through elevator big enough to get 2 or 3 carts in. The store is spic and span clean but it is brand new. There is an over abundance of employees to help you and there seems to be no waiting at all at the service desk or cashier lines in the three times I've been there. However, after they figure out all the kinks and make adjustments, things may change, but now it's utopia-like for home improvement enthusiasts. I'm usually a loyal Home Depot guy, but this Menards has won me over. If you reside near Northwest Indiana, it's worth the trip to explore this Menards for an hour or few. read more

The customer service, or should I say customer dis-service, at this location is pathetic. After spending thousands of dollars at this Menards, I will never give them a single dime of my hard earned money again. Why? Well, let's start with the fact that after paying for product yesterday, their cashier made what I believe was an honest mistake and forgot to give us the cart that contained 2 gallons of windshield washer fluid. That was inconvenient, but mistakes happen. However, the biggest mistake that Menards has at this location is their so called customer service manager (Theresa) and also today's store manager, Josh. Let me explain. I was in the area when my wife called me to inform me that they forgot to give us the windshield washer fluid from yesterday's shopping trip. I stopped in and explained to the customer service manager that the cashier forgot to provide us with the windshield washer fluid. She also stated that I would need to go to the house, get the receipt, bring it back in and then they would need to take the time to review the video surveillance to make sure that we actually paid for the product and did not already take the product home with us. WHAT??? Are you kidding me? I indicated to little miss customer dis-service that we are talking about $4 worth of windshield washer fluid. Did she really think that I would lie about not getting this product? Apparently, she did, as she would not relent and reiterated that she would need to look at the video after we bring the receipt back to the store. No thanks, my time is worth more than $4. They apparently would rather insult a viable customer than actually provide true customer service and come up with a reasonable solution to their mistake. When I asked to speak to a "manager", the customer service "manager" said that she in fact was a "manager". Wow, standards for retail managers must have fallen dramatically. OK, let me speak to a store manager. In comes Josh the Store Manager. I explained that we were good customers of this Menards, that we would never claim something that wasn't true and that this entire inconvenient situation developed because of a unintentional mistake by their cashier yesterday (11/29). Too bad, for me. I was informed by the store manager that his customer service manager was well within her rights to not only ask for the receipt, but to also indicate she would have to review video surveillance to substantiate my $4 claim. Now, I don't know about most of the folks reading this post, but watching video surveillance to confirm this claim for $4 worth of windshield washer solution seems to be pretty petty and might give us all insight into what Menard's thinks about their customers and where their priorities lie. With a Lowes and Home Depot within throwing distance of this Menard's, and with the pathetic customer service policies these 2 managers displayed today, I can only say GOOD BYE MENARDS and HELLO HOME DEPOT! To the store and customer service manager: Keep up the good work. Your store just earned $4 in profit today, since you kept my paid product, didn't provide me with the product I purchased and paid for, and will resell the same product to some other unsuspecting soul. Nice policy to increase your profit margin on the short term, but I guarantee you, your customer service policies will come back to haunt you as more and more people (just read the other comments on this page) will turn away from Menards and never come back. Menards is the Mecca of big box hardware stores. Not only hardware but food items as well. The stores are always clean and presentable. Their staff is knowledgable and friendly. Selection is vast as well as great value. Plenty of sales each week so check their web site or flyers. Hopefully they will come down south and bring that quality and selection down with them. read more

This Menards is terrible. I used to shop here three days a week. The store is always out of stock of the items you need. Plumbing, Electrical, Building Materials - all these departments have no stock of basic products that even a corner hardware store should have - pipe hangars, gas pipe fittings, PVC fittings, switches, receptacles, drywall mud. Try walking through the plumbing dept - there are tons of bins that are empty of product or contain the wrong product and nobody cares or even notices. When you ask them to check the inventory it becomes obvious that there are not any products on order because the inventory counts are so far off that the automatic ordering never even happens. They often try to blame it on the "small" size of the store? It's just an excuse for poor store management - the Gary (yes, Gary - it's not Griffith) store even has better inventory control. Also, they routinely don't carry many of the items featured in the sales ads because they claim the store is too small. read more

It is amazing how stores treat customers. I tried to return a small bottle of propane, about $2.50. I had receipt. I t was too old. I said store credit would be fine since I shop there often. It was refused. Needless to say, I've taken my business elsewhere. When I saw tool cabinets and chests on sale at Menards, I decided it was too risky to purchase there so I bought from Harbor Freight Tools 2 blocks away.
