We were pleasantly greeted & seated immediately, then just like that, our server (Ramon Jr) was at our table, took our drink order & answered a few questions. I'm glad I had perused the menu yesterday & pretty much knew what I wanted, my daughter ordered Ramon's Skillet & I had the Chicken Fried Steak and eggs ( gravy on the side). Portions were huge. I was glad cuz I had been fasting due to a medical procedure. They know what they are doing in the kitchen, eggs were perfectly over medium w/ crispy edges just the way I like them. The chicken fried steak was really Milanese style, perfectly crispy like I'm used to in Mexico, I tasted the gravy & it was really good but once I realized it wasn't American style CFS, I asked our waiter for salsa & pico to put on top!!! Perfection!! I had a lot to tangle with on my own plate but my daughter & I swapped bites of each others dishes, hers came with soft tortillas, the bite I had melted in my mouth! The rating is dropping to 4 stars on this review due to costly increases in their prices. A small glass of soda or iced tea will now set you back $5 each. I had a late start so I ended up ordering a cheese burger, well done. For once I got what I wanted. The burger was perfect, cooked and crispy grilled ends. The flavors was great! I ordered sweet potato fries, I wasn't too found of them and I have had much better fries. I will try them one more time and maybe they will be better. For the two extra dollars I expected better. Had the Meat Lover's Sramble, Los Altos Benedict, Full Stack Pancake Combo. The Meat Lover'a Scramble was packed with bacon, ham and sausage. Also had Jack and Cheddar cheese. Hefty size. They didn't skimp on the ingredients with more meat than eggs. The Los Altos Benedict had thick filet of salmon sitting on top of toasted English muffins, spinach and tomatoes. This is better than the Scramble. Salmon was not fishy. Hollandaise sauce was somewhat buttery and went really well with the salmon. The hashbrown was also pretty good; toasty on the surface but not overly fried. The pancakes had good texture. Fluffy. Didn't fall apart when you cut into it, at the same time we're not gummy chewy. We arrived on a busy morning and were quoted a 25-minute wait. The timing was pretty accurate, and we were eventually seated in the front dining room. Unfortunately, the restaurant lacked any real ambiance, and the bathrooms could definitely use a good cleaning. The menus also need to be reprinted--they're so worn that they're difficult to read. We started with screwdrivers. They only come in one size. My first drink barely tasted like it had any vodka, although after my husband ordered a second one, I could definitely taste it in his. I ordered the ground beef taco salad, and it was enormous! It was fresh and filling, but I honestly wish they offered a half-size option because I couldn't come close to finishing it. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito with two meats and enjoyed it. Our total came to $63 when paying cash. Be aware that if you pay with a credit card, they add nearly a 4% surcharge. Overall, I can see why this place has a loyal following, but it just wasn't a favorite of mine. Came here on a Sunday for brunch with a friend and they were able to accommodate us perfectly with our toddlers. It is pretty busy so I recommend calling ahead to get your name down. They had a lot of tasty options on the menu, AND a lot of pictures which is super helpful. The service was great. It was packed but we got seated right away. Just this past weekend I had a chance to visit Los Altos and it did not disappoint. The ambiance felt vaguely familiar, similar to another breakfast spot closer in town, but regardless I was hungry. The wait was about 15 minutes for a party of two. We waited inside what appeared to be a busy Saturday morning with families coming in to get their fix. I'm feeling sweet and savory today. A Tres Leches French toast combo with bacon, scrambled eggs and country style potatoes. Fritzie W. loves her eggs benedict. Almost any flavor, any style, covered in a salsa de verde for her Los Altos bene. Man, the flavors. The French toast was delicious, the tres leches sauce, wasn't too sweet, but just enough to let you know it means business. So good. You can't go wrong with eggs, bacon and potatoes. Fritzie's let me try her Benedict it was really good, prepared right--flavorful, savory. Nothing prepared was overdone, the servings were satisfying and our waitress was kind and accommodating along with the manager that shift having visited our table briefly to see how we were enjoying our meal. My girlfriends and I met here for Sunday brunch. The server was very attentive and quick to fulfill our requests even with how wildly busy the restaurant was. The food was delicious and it was hard to choose which meal to order. I ordered the pancake combo and they let me swap out my eggs for more bacon; I'm one of those people who love breakfast, but hate eggs. The bacon was crispy, thick, and sweet. Cons: Hash browns forgotten and they tried to replace with potatoes. When I got the hash browns they weren't done.. l. My favorite items here are the Fajita or the All Meat skillets. There is so much food that I always leave with leftovers and breakfast the next day. The Fajita skillet is served with three eggs any style and a choice of toast. It comes with country potatoes, onions, peppers, tomatoes, cheese, and the option of steak, chicken, or shrimp. I love to get my potatoes extra crispy and gluten-free toast. The All Meat Skillet is served with three eggs and a choice of toast. It has country potatoes, onions, tomatoes, peppers, ham, applewood smoked bacon, sausage, jack, and cheddar cheese. My husband and son tell me that the biscuits and gravy are incredible. They often ask for the gravy on the side. That way, if they can't eat it all, they can get the biscuits and gravy to go. During the holidays, they have their windows painted and decorated. We went on a Sunday morning, and oh my gosh - it was so busy! We waited about 20 minutes to be seated and another 30 minutes for our food to come out. The food was good overall. We ordered the Ramon Skillet and the carne asada. I really liked the Ramon Skillet - it was packed with flavor and had a nice touch. The pancakes that came with it were absolutely delicious: warm, fresh, and so good. My boyfriend's parents enjoyed the carne asada. Personally, I thought it was a little dry and tough, but they liked everything else that came on the plate. All of ours breakfast came out a bit pricey. It is a good breakfast spot with lots of tables. If you're stopping by during a rush hour, just know you will wait quite a bit for food. My mother ordered the Chilaquiles the meat was burnt. There was a bunch of fat, and almost seemed like it was boiled first that Chilaquiles were soaked in red sauce were soggy. not to mention they want to charge for chips and salsa. Never have I ever been to a Mexican restaurant the charges for chips and salsa. My aunt got the most basic waffle with eggs and hashbrowns extremely plain. How could you go wrong right well they managed. It had no flavor and was not great at all. Needless to say I really wished that this place was gonna get a great review from me. Unfortunately, it wasn't ambience. There's not even an ambience in there.. forget trying to ask questions about the menu. This place is without a doubt the full 100%. The service is always exceptional. The staff are friendly, very fast, and knowledgeable of the menu and can help when needing a few ideas from the menu. It's always busy, but not chaotic and they do their best to accommodate and offer chairs for people to sit while the wait for a table. It is very clean and well organized, and there's lots of space for big parties. I love the coffee so much. I'm not sure which brand they use, but it's good enough that I honestly don't need milk. You cannot go wrong with the food selection. Came here twice while visiting my parents-once for lunch and once for breakfast. Both were good meals, but breakfast steals the show. For lunch I had the blackened chicken sandwich, which was good and they definitely know how to make great fries. Breakfast was the Machaca scramble, which I loved! Love from Southern California! Found this gem after a ball game. It's only from 7-2:30 and I can see why they don't need to stay open all day. We were seated quickly. Our server came to ask for our drink order promptly. And we didn't even wait a long time for our food to come out even though there were big parties here. I ordered the chile relleno omelette, which is new on their menu. It did not disappoint! The omelette itself is covered in a red sauce that is not spicy. The relleno inside had a little spice and the queso fresco was plentiful. The country potatoes were a great compliment to the dish! We visited Los Altos Diner on the recommendation of a friend. Located in Sparks, we were driving up from So Reno, would the drive to Los Altos be worth it ? In a word, "oh yeah!" A simple diner, Los Altos is not fancy. The restaurant is big, clean and airy. The wait staff was friendly and attentive but more on that later. Basically because it looked amazing on the menu, we started with the Nacho Fries. Essentially Steak Nachos but instead of chips, it is served over a bed of fries. The fries were coated and fried to a wonderful crispy texture. The Nachos had both shredded cheese and queso. Served with all the normal fare, this dish was AMAZING. The only down side it was super filling, so be careful. Being from Los Angeles, I'm basically Hispanic (I am Asian), so my go to order was for the Chorizo Scramble. Chorizo can be a tricky dish as many Chorizos can be quite greasy. Not this dish. The Chorizo Scramble was full of flavor and richness and not greasy. The hashbrowns were crispy yet light and fluffy on the inside. The corn tortillas were warm and steamed to perfection. Perfect execution. My wife ordered French Toast. A solid order, with simple but perfectly prepared French Toast and eggs. My wife ordered hers with a slice of bacon and a sausage link. Both were quite good. One of our guests wanted "Huevos Mexicanos", his favorite breakfast meal. The waitress said initially, we don't have that one the menu but "give me a minute". After a brief pause, she said, "okay, I think we can do that". She entered a bunch of stuff into her tablet and in a bit Huevos Mexicanos was indeed delivered to the table. It is so nice when the staff are problem solvers rather than just saying "we can't do that" without even trying. You get an extra star Ma'am, just for you outstanding customer service. Well done. We also ordered a Chicken Salad. The salad was HUGE and looked amazing but after the Steak Nacho Fries, most of the salad came home with us. What a great find. So we went Saturday, January 3. The food is always wonderful. It's one of our go to places when we can . The portions there are always so big there's extra food left over. I got the chorizo eggs scrambled with hashbrowns. My husband got the chorizo omelette with hashbrowns and sourdough toast. They weren't too busy, but they were busy. I have tried this place a few times and have never been really impressed. Although the location is conveniently located to my house, I haven't have much luck with their food and service. It has been a year or two since I have been here. The last time there was a long black hair mixed in the scrambled eggs of my friends plate. We kept being ignored, 1st when we were trying to order and then next when we were trying to tell them about the hair in the eggs. At any rate we did not enjoy our food at all as the hair was a big turn off.
