I am in town for work and I found this gem via Groupon. If I lived here, this would be my home away from home. I have never done a barre type class but that didn't matter. I felt very welcomed from the moment I showed up. The instructor, Jess, was friendly and very knowledgable and she offered a challenging class. I am absolutely in love of Meraki Barre. I've tried many other Gym, yoga and exercise places. But I never felt my body as grateful and happy as when I do my beloved barre !! The ambiance is excellent, the routines are amazingly good. I had cero physical condition and I started with Yoga, then moved to the barre and I can't wait to try the other classes they have. I LOVE this studio! I found it through Classpass and signed up for their POUND class on Mondays. I absolutely love this class because it's a great workout but it's so hard to find in Orange County. It's definitely unique because you use the Rip Sticks while doing lunges/squats/ect to high energy music. I've taken the class with Jamie and Jess and they're both great instructors. Everyone is super welcoming at this studio (even if you're not a barre expert) which is great. The owner Robin is super friendly and has two dogs who are always ready to greet you when you walk in the door. I brought my best friend here and she loved it too. I would recommend this studio to anyone because it's not a pretentious studio at all which is a big difference from all other barre studios in Orange County. read more

My new fave place! I used to be all about bikram and hot yoga, but this place has made my new "thing" barre (they also offer yoga classes too though). Loves - Classes are never packed - They have lockers you can put your stuff in - Plenty of parking - They provide all your equipment, even water! So you basically just have to bring yourself - Teachers are super cool and funny - Studio is very open and clean - you get a workout without getting drenched in sweat (like hot yoga) - .. your booty is gonna look like BAM Meh's - You have to book all your classes in advance on the site. Try to book as many classes as you can in advance since they fill up pretty quickly! - It's initially hard to find, but it'll be on your left hand side after you make a right onto 16th st. and its right across from a Auto Body shop. I'd say its like the 2nd or 3rd turn to your left. Once you find it though, it's easy to get to. - Not open on Sundays and limited classes on Saturday However, the Loves of these lists trump the Meh's. Go try it! read more

Best workout ever!!!! Everyone is SO nice and always smiling when you walk in... Extremely clean studio where THEY ACTUALLY WASH THEIR MATS!! Not to mention, the studio radiates upbeat, happy vibes. You can tell that everyone that works there enjoys it! I started with a great Groupon deal and was HOOKED! Barre is amazing and is great for toning, Pound is simply a blast! Drumsticks and music? Yes please! One of the best classes I've ever taken! Robin (the owner) is a wonderful person and it rubs off onto everyone that attends any classes. GOOD LORD, I have never been so sweaty in my LIFE. Like, seriously. And it doesn't help one's self-consciousness about being uber-sweaty when the girls running the place are OC hotties and "glisten" while they work out (rather than sweat their balls off, like I do). I seriously cannot even begin to express to you how sweaty I was. But that's supposed to be a good thing, right? The good: -great workout (I HATE HATE HATE working out...so for me to say that is saying a lot) -nice/clean facility -staff was knowledgeable and friendly (despite their enviable non-sweatyness) The bad: -the massive amounts of sweat I dripped all over the yoga mat they provide you to use (you clean them afterwards, thank God!) -the massive amounts of sweat that was all over my face, chest, torso, and in my hair -the feeling that I was totally being judged for being so GD sweaty (could have just been me, but if I saw me, I would be like "DAMN, that is one sweaty biotch. whats her problem?"). AMAZING!!!! Robin the owner is amazing she made me feel right at home and was very helpful from the moment I walked in the door. She made me feel like I was part of the family right away. Jess and Jessie are amazing instructors and always make sure you have the correct form and really push me to push myself. I have never had a problem signing up for classes. Due to my work schedule I haven't had the privilege of taking classes from the other instructors but I know they are just as fabulous :) I was lucky enough to see the groupon to get me in the door and will continue to come to this studio everyone is so welcoming and down to earth from Robin, Jess, Jessie to the girls working out. So far I have only taken the Barren and Surf TRX class with Janine. After 4 classes I feel great and I get better every time. You work out every muscle in your body! It's safe to say that Meraki began my love for all things barre! Who know a work out that has very concentrated, tiny movements could be so effective and create such an after burn!? While Meraki Barre is a little difficult to find the first time you go (it's in the middle of a industrial looking park without any clear markings) I really loved the people who worked there. they were so nice and helpful and the facility is definitely amazing. I tried the barre classes and the TRX classes as well, and both were challenging. The Barre class is different than others that I've taken, as it felt more pilates-ish than others but it was nice to have a change. I absolutely love Meraki Bar. I got the groupon for the 20 classes. The online scheduling was new to me, but easy to navigate. I loved the environment of the classes and the empowerment I felt from the teachers and Robin, the owner. Extremely nice facility and welcoming. Unfortunately, I do not work not live anywhere near this location. I would have continued to go even after the groupon was done, but could not afford the monthly cost of membership and gas. But I have no doubt in my mind that if/when my living or financial situation changes, I will be back. In the short time I was there, I have never felt more comfortable and welcomed by a group of women. Thank you Meraki, for changing the way I view working out. Ps There POUND class is phenomenal. OMG! Arden's Meraki Barre class is AMAZING! I have tried and liked most barre classes (Pure Barre, Barre Method, Cardio Barre, Hot Barre, Bar Fly). Arden's class is by far the best. She only does the most efficient and effective movements. The time flew bye. I had so much fun, great music, never bored. She totally motivated me, and made me laugh. And did all this while offering options for people w/ injuries, correcting form and giving great instructions. She's a freaking Barre genius! The only thing I am bummed about is that she has totally ruined me for any other instructors. I have taken a few classes since then at other studios and I am always seriously disappointed. Meraki Barre is awesome! The studio is great, the people are great, and they have all my favorite classes in one place (Barre, TRX, Zumba and I can't wait for Pound). There aren't enough words in the English language to describe how fantastic this studio is. Don't be fooled by the "barre" in the name because Meraki offers so much more! Such a wide variety of classes and the instructors are friendly, personable, fun and amazing at what they do. Forget the typical "gym" vibe, when you walk into Meraki Barre it feels like you're walking into a home! And I LOVE the fact that it's dog friendly! What other fitness studio is that cool? And the owner Robin is amazing! She gives off such a warm and welcoming energy. Here you'll find ZERO competition, ZERO ego. A great place to remind ourselves that fitness can and should be FUN!! This is a good studio to do a few classes and by purchasing the classes from groupon. I wouldn't bother paying full price or even consider a membership at all. Here are a few reasons why: 1. Location: it's in a small industrial area that is not convenient to get to and doesn't have any sort of clear sign of the studio. Not much parking either. 2. Class sign up: for every class, you have to sign up beforehand which I can understand l, but if you have to cancel before 12 hours, there is a $7 fee. The only issue I have with this is that the studio does not uphold this standard to themselves. I tried to sign up for a class and it directed me to call. I called, no answer. I leave a voicemail and I get a text instead saying that class is cancelled because a minimum of 3 people need to sign up or else it's considered a private lesson for $25. I do not care if other people can't prioritize themselves to come to class, I shouldn't have to pay for it and you should have notified everyone 12 hours before. It turns out more people showed up later, upset because the class was cancelled. Overall, the sign in system is a bunch of crock because it is inaccurate and there is already a limited selection of classes so it is ridiculous to cancel what little this studio has. 3. Professionalism: I am not sure how many owners this studio has, but the representation of this studio is pitiful to say the least. You can never get an answer when calling. The receptionist had her friends and mom there while talking bad about someone reviewing the studio and has told a person "don't act crazy". The receptionist is no way presentable, especially for a fitness studio. 4. Class routines: although the instructors are extremely nice and have good technique, their routines lack variety. I've gone a few days in a row and it's the same routine with the same exact music. If I wanted to do a repetitive routine, I would do a workout video at home and saved me the drive. This place would have so much potential if it had better business practices. Thank god for Groupon or else this place probably would have shit down a while ago! I absolutely love this place! I found Meraki through Groupon initially, and clearly understood the parameters of the Groupon deal and had no trouble with redeeming it and all my questions were answered in a timely fashion by the owner herself via e-mail! Robin, the owner, really makes you feel at home here and has such a positive energy. This place truly feels like a small family owned business and I love that Robin knows everyone's names. As far as the workouts - I loveeee taking Barre with Jess. She is so good. High energy and adorable, she makes every workout fun and hard. You will walk away sore! I have been coming to Meraki Barre regularly for nearly a year and I absolutely love it!! I was devastated when the barre studio I had been going to closed its Costa Mesa location and I didn't know if I'd find another place I liked as much. I first tried Meraki with a Groupon, and I really liked it, but of course, I was plagued by curiosity and felt I had to try some other options in the area before committing. I tried a few, and they were fine, but I didn't love them, so smartly I came back to Meraki and am so happy I did!! I just love the whole vibe of the studio, it's very warm and welcoming, and Robin the owner is wonderful--she is so sweet and always has a smile on her face. Meraki has a great class schedule that works perfectly for me, including early morning and evening classes. I love that they provide the mats for you (they are really nice too! You can't even feel the wood floor beneath). I've never had a problem getting into class and I go about 4 times a week during the popular times. Parking is never an issue. The teachers are all amazing, each with their own style, and they change the class every week so you can really mix it up and never be bored but always get a great workout. I have an old knee injury and they always offer modifications which is awesome. I really can't say enough good things about Meraki!! read more

I was starting to feel bored with my regular gym routine, when I was lucky enough to come across an amazing deal from Meraki Barre on Groupon. The price was right and I wanted to get out of my comfort zone, so I purchased the groupon and signed up for my first barre class... Ever. I had no idea what to expect, but being the worrying, over-prepared A-type lady that I am, I googled what it's like to attend such a class for the first time... Well, I was a little intimidated. HOWEVER, as soon as I arrived at Meraki Barre for my first class, my worries subsided. I entered the studio and received a warm welcome from the instructors at the front desk. The instructor was very helpful, and gave me pointers throughout the class since she knew it was my first time. I definitely felt at ease and left the class excited to sign up for more. Once my groupon expired, I signed up as a regular member. If I had to choose, I'd say my favorite classes are POUND and barre - but it's hard to play favorites, because I love them all. The equipment provided is top notch and the studio is very clean. One of the things I love best is the sense of empowerment and community at the studio. All of my fellow classmates are friendly and the instructors are super encouraging. Robin, the owner, is absolutely wonderful as are her dogs who I also love to visit! I honestly won't go anywhere else for barre. All of the instructors are really sweet and the classes are so much fun. The workout is a blast and goes by quick, but as soon as you're done you definitely feel it where it counts! Side note, as a thicker lady I always feel welcomed and accepted and celebrated. Meraki Barre is friggin awesome. I have never worked out regularly, EVER. I started the groupon there over 3 months ago, and now have a monthly membership. I love that the instructors take special care to make sure everyone understands the instructions, and they always give several adjustments to make the workout easier or much harder, so that everyone can push themselves, regardless of their level. I go 5-6 times per week and have seen some amazing changes happening in my body! LOVE this place, definitely a great intimate studio where you get to chat with your instructors and fellow class takers. Evening classes get packed but I don't mind being in close quarters with Meraki girls. All of they are so sweet and are at barre for the same reason I am. The instructors are some of the most personable people you'll ever come across. Don't get me started on Robin, the owner of Meraki Barre. She will go above and beyond for her clients and she has this contagious laugh! All the negative reviews mention dogs - yes there are occasionally dogs in the lobby. It's not about whether or not you're a dog person, but rather if you can to embrace the family environment. I finally finished my 10 class Groupon deal last night. The reason why it took so long? I was essentially stalling; I didn't want my classes to end. I'm now officially a fan of Meraki Barre! Most people go to barre for the total workout experience and that's not necessarily the case for me, although that is a nice incentive. I mainly go because I need it--it's a great after-work stress reliever. I'm sore as hell the next day, my thighs, butt, abs and arms are killing me, I can't walk up the stairs properly, but in the end it's really worth it. Throughout my 10 classes I've had Jessica as my instructor--she's da bomb! I told her and Robin that they've changed my outlook on barre and that I intend to come back for more barre and even try some TRX (the bf knows that I want a series of classes from here and from RA Yoga for Christmas). I should tell you about the Pound class while I'm at it. Pound is also taught by Jessica...it's super intense and fast paced and there's a lot of squatting involved. I have lower back issues so it's not the best class for me but I don't regret it--major cardio involved. Will I be back? Yes! I'm so happy I stuck with barre. Don't waist your time or money . I would give them no stars if that was possible . I bought a groupon excited my friend and I where going to get in shape . Our 1st problem was they never get back to you to redeem your groupon it came down to me leaving a message to them do I need to contact Groupons for a refund . For them to get back and register us for the classes . Looking back I wish I went with that instinct The instructor for barre looks at her phone through the whole class I've never seen that in my life and you can't hear or make out what she's saying . So Frustrating. Not to mention they don't turn on the fan or air so your burning up . They do have a class called pound where you bang drumsticks and I would have to say that instructor is the only thing they have going for them My last complaint is if you do take this class they don't offer anything in the evenings from Friday - Saturday and that sucked . I've always wanted to try taking a barre class here but I've done a few samples of the Thighs, Butts, Legs workout a few times before here and let me tell you- that thing kicks your a$$ hard!! If you're looking for doing multiple classes here, do the Groupon deal- great deal, as many have said here before. Beware of the schedules as they are a very small studio and have limited classes. The building is on a slightly industrial looking street so just follow your gps. They have lockers for you in case you wanted to bring your purse and you want it securely locked up, etc. I think Ambia was my instructor for those two classes I took and she is awesome. If you can, try to reserve a spot online but unless you're here for prime after work hours or when there's a lot of people to be expected, you should be able to do a walk-in. read more

This review is long overdue. I used the one month unlimited Groupon. It was easy to redeem. What I love about this studio is they don't just offer barre classes. They have TRX, Candlit Yoga and Pound as well! Another positive was their schedule. Meraki Barre has plenty of night classes to choose from. Especially for someone with my schedule and commute who does not have the time to workout in the morning and who gets off of work around 5:30 p.m. I mainly took classes with Jess (she is great) but from what I could tell so were the other instructors. Be assured all the instructors will give you a great workout. So check it out! You'll immediately feel welcomed and you'll walk out feeling happy. Love me some Meraki! Originally started coming here bc of a friend and got the groupon. I re-upped and just bought a membership. The classes are super fun, lots of variety- ballet barre, trx, pound, and yoga. all the instructors are very well trained and versed in what they are teaching and super sweet and motivating. You will leave class : 1)sore 2) sweating 3)extremely satisfied with your workout 4) did I mention sore in places u didn't know could be sore or u had muscles in? Yea..... That GOOD! It's not pretentious like the other studios, everyone is super friendly, they work with newbs, lazy bums like me, experienced and fit, and everyone seems to be on the same playing field in class. I love Meraki and everyone that's a part of it. I found this little joint through a Groupon over 2 years ago and ended up finding my niche in the fit world with it. As a dancer, this was exactly what I wanted: strengthening, core work and more. Over the 2 years that I've been here, I've seen many different styles of barre and a few changes in instructors. However, through all the changes, the one constant has been the owner, Robin, who has always been super attentive, friendly, understanding and all around a good person to share this experience with. She has seen not only my fitness journey, but my overall mental and spiritual health journey as well. I'm so happy to call this place home and some day, maybe I'll be sharing barre with others. As for general reviews of the facility: clean, lockers, water machine, tea, 2 bathrooms, AC, mats, weights and other items provided, and a small shop in the lobby filled with local goodies. I personally bring my own mat, which I bought at the studio, due to allergies and I always wear my barre socks. Some people may complain about a waitlist, but if you've ever walked into a class that was overpacked, it's not a fun situation. As for the 5 minute late rule, walking in once a class has started is rude and very distracting. At my MMA gym, they will pelt you with MMA gloves if you're late. If you're already close-by and stuck in traffic, try calling Robin and she'll do what she can. I love Meraki Barre! I found out about it on Groupon on Feb. 2015 and I've been hooked since! I even tried other barre studios like Cardio Barre, but they didn't even compare to Meraki! I love that they have a variety of classes so you can mix it up if you want to. My favorite teachers are Morgan and Jess, but they all do a great job! They change up their routine weekly and keep a positive environment throughout the workout. There is no yelling just encouraging words which is huge to me! This studio is great! I have been coming here since June 25th. I remember the date because that's also the same birthday as my best friend. I love all the classes here because the instructors keeps the whole class engaged and motivated. I usually take the last class after work, and it has work wonders on my weight. This means alot to me, I have tried kick boxing, cardio dances and even a personal trainer and nothing. But the key is consistency. Also Robyn is awesome, super understanding and nice to talk to! This was my go-to barre studio before I moved to LA this year. I've tried all the other studios in OC and now some in LA, and there's just definitely something special about Meraki. Robin, the owner, is amazing and always super accommodating. If I ever had any issues in the past, she always addressed them quickly (ex: forgot to sign up for a class, etc.). From the moment you walk in, you feel welcome. I love their instructors. Contrary to what negative reviews claim, they do switch up the routines. I like that each instructor has their own unique style and incorporates that into the workout. I started visiting Meraki Barre after purchasing a groupon for a class package, and was pleasantly surprised by the entire experience! The location, upon first arrival, was different and in a more industrial park area of Newport/Costa Mesa. But once inside, the studio space is very cute and cozy. I tried Barre for a different workout, and even though I am not very coordinated or flexible I got a good workout, but my favorite classes were definitely the TRX and POUND classes. Completely different that anything I have done before, the TRX suspension band class definitely worked muscle groups I don't always get to, and the POUND class was a great workout, harder than it looks, and a TON of fun to pound out some frustration! All of the instructors that I worked with (Jessie, Jess and Morgan) were great, always very high energy and willing to take the time to work with individuals that might need more instruction. There were people at every fitness level in the classes, and the instructors always provided modifications for those with injuries that might need a variation. Overall, the only thing lacking was the personal connection. In the month and a half that I attended class, the instructors started learning my name towards the end, but it would have been nice if they knew me when I walked in at the front desk, and it was hard to get a response to emails from time to time when questions about my package and payments came up. I first found out about this studio through Living Social. I was excited to see a new work out studio coming to Costa Mesa. Someone was going to finally shake up all the other workout chains (i.e. 24 hour, PB, etc.) Well, I'm guilty, of purchasing deals and never using them. I bought the Living Social and forgot to use it. Oops. Then I bought the Groupon deal and still didn't use it, oops. Finally, I purchased the $40 unlimited two week pass and I am hooked. When my pass expires today, I will be purchasing the three month unlimited pass. With how often I go (once a day) the price comes out to about $5 a class, awesome! I was super intimidated the first day I showed up for Barre (6 a.m.) but was lucky enough to meet Jessica. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she is very welcoming. I really enjoyed her Barre classes (I've attended three so far). I am an admitted beginner so I enjoy the pace and skill set forth in the class. TRX and Boot(y) Boot camp with Ambia are also really great. She is very matter of fact, professional, and efficient. I have yet to try any of the yoga classes but look forward to it. Usually, I am incredibly apprehensive of group classes for a variety of reasons. One of my major beefs is that the instructors don't look the part but these ladies do! Banging bodies and great attitudes! I plan on religiously attending the next three months in prep for my upcoming wedding, can't wait to see where these ladies take my body! read more
