This was my go-to barre studio before I moved to LA this year. I've tried all the other studios in OC and now some in LA, and there's just definitely something special about Meraki. Robin, the owner, is amazing and always super accommodating. If I ever had any issues in the past, she always addressed them quickly (ex: forgot to sign up for a class, etc.). From the moment you walk in, you feel welcome. I love their instructors. Contrary to what negative reviews claim, they do switch up the routines. I like that each instructor has their own unique style and incorporates that into the workout. If you love barre and want to get a kick-ass workout in a chill and relaxed studio, you've found the place. You'll always be greeted with a smile and Robin always has amazing specials for class packages. Do yourself a favor and come here. read more

I really didn't want to cheat on my true love Pure Barre but I thought I'd mix it up (and support small business!) while in Huntington Beach studying for the boards for 5 weeks. I can't say I was happy with Meraki, though their slogan "to do something with soul, creativity and love" is darling. Other plusses: Manduka mats & brand spankin new equipment. Cute interior decorations in the lobby, and a clean restroom. And lockers! Which is fab, since I usually have my iPad and iPhone in my bag. But buyer beware: 1. Robin the owner is whack! She wouldn't let me into a class when I walked in exactly 5 minutes late (after having called the studio 15 minutes *prior* to the class start time to ask if that was ok -- and they didn't pick up the phone). Then, she charged me an extra $20 for the next class I could not attend (after having called 1 hour prior, my excuse being an actual medical one). Yes. 20 in addition to me forfeiting the class just to "re-gain access" (Robin's words verbatim) for rest of my classes ... that I had already paid for. Deep Breathing. OK. I paid the $20 thinking "ok I could have spent that on an awesome class at PB but I really want to try Pound and life's all about trying new things right??" Then, get this: for the next 3 classes, I saw at LEAST one person per class being let in more than taaa-WELVE minutes past the start time. I cordially asked Robin about it, and she mumbled some BS back. Must... practice... Deep... Breathing. 2. While the teachers are all nice people, they make no useful adjustments or suggestions. I know barre well only because the teachers at Pure Barre (HB), Power Pilates (NYC) and KatMoJAM (also NYC) are constantly correcting, to get everyone looking and feeling their best IN A SAFE WAY. Every class I attended at Meraki had dozens of students flailing their legs, humping the air, sticking their bums out, or arching their backs. Also, no one asks if there are any injuries to keep in mind. With everything I saw during my 6 classes here, if you didn't walk in here with an injury... you'll likely walk out with one. 3. The studio is... well, not a studio. It is a garage, with the acoustics of a garage to boot. Everything echoes, including the teachers, especially when they're yelling at the top of their lungs (.....please stop...) 4. Scheduling a class here is next to impossible. You have to basically check back every few hours to see if something opens up (eeek, Groupon overload I guess?). I don't think anyone with a legit daytime job can do that. 5. There are a lot, a LOT of beginners in all of their classes. That's great - I'm glad people are getting off their couches and getting in shape; there are a lot of beginners at Pure Barre, too. But at PB, beginners must work at the level of more advanced folks (with options for lighter loads or easier stances), with plenty of encouragement that they'll safely do the full thing someday - and they will ;) Here, unfortunately, the whole class operates at the level of the arm-flailing, neck-straining majority, without the explicit option of taking it deeper -- unless you're familiar with the technique from a different-COUGH-BETTER studio. 6. This one's not really a good reason to not go here; it's just a thought: There is something accessible & inspiring about the owner of a yoga/pilates/barre studio having started their career as a teacher. Even better when they still teach classes (holler @ Hilaria - YogaVidaNYC). On the contrary, when the owner isn't certified to teach classes, doesn't attend any classes and just plain doesn't look fit him- or herself, it feels more like... a business. And I know, i KNOW, all studios are businesses... I just don't like to go to studios that feel like businesses. Also: more than half the classes I attended, Robin came in and took photos. I'm sorry, did you think it'd be ok for you to take a picture of any of us in Parivrtta parsvokonasana (or take photos of us at ALL in ANY pose EVER without our permission)? Think again! Bottom line: If you have any concerns about a current or healing msk injury, do not come here and risk exacerbating it. If you're a very young, never-been-injured Grouponer, go ahead and use up your classes I guess -- I believe it was quite a deal no? Either way, afterward, head to Pure Barre (or even Cardio Barre down the street, though I haven't tried it) to safely reach your workout goals and/or get that dancer's body you've always dreamed of. PB is cheaper than Meraki too, if you catch one of their not-infrequent specials. read more

So here it goes............... Got a Groupon for 20 classes at this place, excited that it was relatively close to my house, that they offer different types of classes & I was curious to check it out. Needless to say, I've tried to " like" this place, but can't. I feel that i've given it a fair chance, still have a few classes left, but can't be bothered to use them. First impression,( once you find the place , there's no signs whatsoever) I took a barre class with Jessica. It was very average, beginner level like. Only a few students taking the class & she did no corrections whatsoever. Like i said, the routine was very basic, but she kept huffing and puffing like it was challenging. Left feeling discouraged, but decided to give it a chance. Second class was a TRX class, which was in one word disorganized. The class have since then gotten better, but in my mind it's not really a TRX class, more like a circuit training class, since half of the class takes place on the floor and not the TRX itself. I've taken TRX classes at other studios where the whole class is done with the TRX and gotten a great workout. Did a few Barre classes with Ashley, and in my mind, she's one of the better instructors there. She's motivating and try to push people to work.and challenge themselves. Beware though, AM classes are FREEZING!!!!! this studio is basically a garage with a wood floor. I felt like I was working out in a meat locker, my toes even went numb. And it echoes horribly. I'm a fan of group exercise for various reasons, one of them being that you push each other to work harder, feed from each others energy etc. Yes, I know that you should make it your own individual work out, and so on.... The energy in here annoyed me, so many people half cheating themselves through class, not trying. Then why are you there???? I'll be the first to admit that i'm a type A person when it comes to exercise. I don't claim to be better. but I do have a hard time to "respect" people that don't even try. And to be called an overachiever by the instructor when you by choice make certain exercises more challenging, is not appreciated nor funny. The level of the classes here are very basic, beginner, which might have something to do with the majority of people attending classes here? Many times I felt like it's a place for people that just started working out, and good for them. It's never too late to start.To me, daily exercise is part of a healthy life style. So if you're a pretty active person like myself, I feel that there's so many better places to go to, that will for sure kick your butt in a good way. CARDIO BARRE, YAS, BARRY'S BOOTCAMP, YOGAWORKS , BIKRAM @ THE CAMP etc..... ( see my other reviews ) Pretty much every time I came here i ended up doing a second workout somewhere else, in order to feel like I really did something. Maybe it would be good for this studio to offer different levels on their classes? AMBIA & ASHLEY, i believe that you're so much BETTER than this place!!!!!! And that you don't get to instruct at your full potential. Guess you have to cater to your clientele???? Overall, i say DON'T WASTE your money. Their prices are decent, but there's places with similar pricing that will give you thorough, challenging work out. Also felt bothered by the very impersonal environment, This is a place where nobody bothers to know your name, nor is there any sense of community at all. Sadly my experience with Meraki Barre has not been as great as my fellow reviewers and it's mostly due to my interaction with the owner Robin. They had partnered up with Lululemon and were offering free barre classes on all the Sat. of that month. I assumed you could only go to one of the classes but apparently you could have gone to them all that month since that's what my Yoga instructor told me since she had pretty much attended all the classes without any problem and she said it was pretty good workout. If she enjoyed it, then I wanted to compare and contrast. I showed up early and picked up a Manduka mat (nice). But as the class was filling up, I was asked to move my mat to the far side of the room so the teachers in training could take my spot. I was a bit annoyed by that since what's the point of showing up early if I'm going to lose my spot and be placed in area, where it's hard to see the instructor and I'm always having to turn my head and get out of rhythm to find out what folks are doing. And shouldn't teachers in trainings be able to do the workout wherever they are since they are going to become teachers? My next interaction was at Athleta and I had heard about them teaching their new class Pound in the store and invited my friend to come attend with me and we're hoping for the Pound workout but after a bit of delays they actually weren't going to teach it in the store but yoga instead. She had actually bought a Groupon with them but wasn't able to use all her 10 classes since she's a pediatrician for CHOC and works crazy long hours. Later I find out Lululemon has the great Sweat-a-thon deal with all these local studios. I asked the Lululemon staff how the deal works and they said show the calendar to the respective studio and they'll recognize it. I'm like cool and they told and wrote on my paper which studios you need to call in advance to reserve and which ones you have to new member. They did not mention anything about Meraki Barre. So I go to check out their ABT class seen a class like that so was curious to check it out. It's noon time and the owner says your face looks familiar and I honestly told her I've taken the barre class and she proceeds to tell me that since I took that complimentary class back then I can't really qualify for this class but says she'll let me in this time but of course makes this seem like it's a big deal. The class had only 3 other ppl would really adding 1 more person really make you lose money? The whole time I'm feeling bad, when I really shouldn't since I wasn't aware of this policy since there should have been better communication with Lululemon and them, how was I suppose to know? Completely killed my workout buzz and high since all my interaction with other studios has been great and even when I was repeat customer they were no issues they just let me in no problem. Luckily, the instructor was very welcoming and nice and didn't make me feel like I didn't belong there. Fast forward to June so as a gift my friend had bought me a Groupon with Meraki Barre for 10 classes. It was hard to see what the schedule was for the following week since they only seem to have the schedule for the week of. I follow the Groupon directions and called to reserve. Don't hear back from anyone so instead I drive there early to sign up. So I run into the owner again, who says the same thing to me again your face looks familiar and again I'm upfront tell her I had taken the Lululemon comp class. I'm already sensing she's not too happy with that but she lets me in the Pound class since my friend did PAY for the gift to me so technically I wasn't taking the class for free. NOPE. I come home and there's a message on the answering machine. That she's not going to be able to honor the 10 classes since I took the Lululemon classes and will only let me use the face value (classes cost more than that). So I suggest if she could just deduct the 3 classes I've taken from that so I could have 7 at least. NOPE. She acted like it was beyond her control (ummm you're the owner). She suggests to me to give it to a friend. Do you really think I'm going to recommend you to my friends after my interactions with you? And if a friend can take 10, why is it IMPOSSIBLE to give me my remaining or just 7? Makes no sense. She says Groupon offers refunds easily (that should be red flag why are folks asking for refunds from you guys?) In case you're thinking about buying the Groupon and alike deal be warned if you taken a comp class since apparently the owner will penalize for using that and the owner will make sure to let you know. What a strange business policy. Wouldn't you want to encourage people to come to your studio not discourage and not make them feel unwelcome? That's what other studios do and guess what I ENJOY going to them. Sorry they lost me as a potential customer. So when my friends ask what some great studios are, you'll know which one I won't be recommending. read more

I've tried a lot of local barre studios but Meraki has always been my favorite over the years. The instructors are wonderful and they are always switching up the routines so you never get bored. I thoroughly enjoyed the instructors and classes. I have had moral issues with the owner. While she appears to be nice, she lacks human decency. I had missed a class because as I was pulling into the parking lot I found out my grandmother had died. As you can imagine I sat in the parking lot crying and trying to get myself together to go home. The next day I received notification that I was charged for missing the class. I told my instructor what had happened and she sympathized with me and told me how sorry she was for my loss. She explained that I should call back and speak to the owner and that she was sure that she would understand. The exact opposite happened and she said she couldn't make an exception. She also continued to push me to make sure I was telling the truth. You can imagine in an overwhelming situation that I would not want to prove that my grandmother had passed. I would imagine that this would be the opposite of anything she would want someone to do to her. For someone who "appears" to practice peace and all the ideas behind yoga, she did not have any for me. I stil continued to go to Meraki after this because I had my groupon, however I will never go back. She made the worst time of my life even worse. read more

I bought the deal through Groupon and went to my first class and loved it! It's what happened after my first class that has me really disappointed. I had an issue with the online scheduling and tried to reach their office multiple times. 4 phone calls, voicemails and an email. NO REPLY. Over 3 months I've been trying to contact them and haven't heard a peep. I've given them an ample amount of time to get back to me and multiple ways to reach me. I wouldn't normally have put up with a company with horrible customer service, but I genuinely loved the options for classes and the workout. That's the worst part, now I'm not able to enjoy the workout and have to find somewhere else to go. I've never been this disappointed in a company. I called Groupon and got a refund. They told me I wasn't the first to call regarding this issue! Hope this helps future Groupon buyers! read more

Love my workouts at Meraki Barre!! Went for the first time in August and have been going a few times every week! the instructors are all great and help with modifications for my knee! Seriously - love this gym & the owner is so amazing, friendly & you can tell she loves her studio so much! It shows through her studio, the instructors & the smile on her face! Every instructor is really ready at what they do! My new fav class is POUND - Cindy is so great & i smile through the whole class! It's so much fun! Def a great studio! So clean! BACKGROUND- first heard of Meraki Barre via a Groupon deal that was offered. I've been very active my entire life, with organized sports as well as extreme sports and group classes at the gym, and I enjoy trying new exercises and classes. I've been wanting to try barre for a while and thought it would be the perfect opportunity especially since this studio offers a wide array of classes. LIKES- Super Clean studio, plenty of parking, good signage makes the location easy to find, the instructors are friendly and extremely knowledgeable / well-trained and offer aid during class as they monitor each participant. The studio offers 6 very different types of classes which all accommodate beginners. They utilize an online management system (same as all Barre studios) which makes it very easy to sign up online (also via the phone) pending availability. They do not crowd the classes so u do not have to worry about claustrophobia. There is sufficient air conditioning and on nice days they will roll the big slider door open (similar to a garage door). I definitely like the challenge of the classes and that my body feels tighter after every class. DISLIKES - The biggest drawback is their inability to set the class schedules in advance. Ever since I started researching the class availability in April, only the current week's schedule would be online. This is a disadvantage because classes fill up pretty fast and it is highly unlikely you will get into a class if you're a Drop In. The classes themselves are not consistent, so a class you like Tuesday at 4:30 may not be the same class the following week. In my opinion, there are not enough Barre method classes available throughout the week. Also, the Cancellation policy here is somewhat absurd and unforgiving. Just know that unless you cancel your class within 24 hrs, you will not only be deducted for this class but you will also be charged $20 each additional time going forward (this is on their website). Luckily for me I manage my schedule pretty meticulously and I haven't encountered this, but a $20 fee for missing one class when you've paid less than that for 10 classes total is illogical. I'm not sure whether this varies if you pay for a series of classes vs. attending via the groupon deal, but this cancellation policy will not entice me to sign up for more classes after my groupon expires as I doubt I'll even get a chance to sign up for many more classes that fit my busy schedule. BOTTOM LINE - If you have a LOT of free time on your hands to keep checking the schedule online, you like classes other than barre, or your schedule permits you to take 6am or 8am weekday classes, then this is totally worth checking out especially if you're certain you will never cancel in less than 24 hours. However, if you prefer to have flexibility to cancel up to only 4 hours in advance and your schedule allows for only Drop-In classes, you should research other Barre studios. read more

This place is great! I purchased a groupon, and went there for a full month trying as many classes as possible! First of all, they are teaching different levels of Barre - an option you don't find in most studios! If you take Jen's class on Wednesdays and Thursdays (my favourite) be ready to sweat your butt off!!! Her class is advanced and She is amazing, I liked that she gives everyone personal attention walking around the class and adjusting your posture! Jamie is teaching Barre on Saturdays! I'd say her class is a little easier than Jen's, but in no way worse! She is working out along side of you, but rarely walking around though, so I was a little lost sometimes not sure if I was doing the exercise correctly. And then there's Sofia's class on Tuesday nights, which I'd rate as intermediate Barre. Very nice lady, with good energy, and I was still sore after her class! Secondly, I tried two absolutely new to me classes - TRX and Pound! TRX is a cardio and a full body workout with the slight use of weights, but mostly straps hanging off the bars over head, and you will be using the weight of your own body doing squats and constantly leaning on those straps! Pretty cool! The instructor Jessie is tons of fun and a talker! Trust me, you will need her encouragement while huffing and puffing on those straps! Pound is a cardio as well, you are constantly drumming on the floor with real drum sticks while working on your legs and abs! Jamie is great at that! Overall experience is very positive, nobody was ever rude to me. Did I mention I got super toned? Uh huh! I went there for only a month and I've never been in a better shape, and I work out constantly! I wish they had more deals though, like a package of 15 barre classes or 15 TRXs! Is it me or is this place a pain in the a** to get into classes. It's not like I'm trying to sign up for the classes the day before either. I'm doing it 2-3 days in advance, which is saying a lot for me because I never know what my schedule is going to be like. Also, the schedule isn't even up for a week in advance. WTF. Every time I have gone to sign up for a class I am somehow always waitlisted. I write this review with encouragement that you guys can help fix this by maybe getting a little more organized? I signed up for Meraki Barre through an Amazon deal of one month of unlimited classes...and I'm so glad I did. What originally drew me to Meraki was there "Surf TRX" classes. Being a new surfer, I wanted to learn some skills that would help my performance. TRX is an awesome class, very challenging, and uses all your body weight through use of suspension straps to strengthen your core. It always has me sweating like crazy! Originally class space was limited for TRX, but they've added more straps so there's plenty of space. After taking TRX, I decided to try Barre for the first time. This class is AWESOME!!! I didn't really know if I would like Barre, considering it has elements of ballet, (I'm not much of a dance person, I'm more of an athlete), but I LOVE it! It is super challenging and pinpoints select muscles in your glutes, inner & outer thighs and calves that will totally sculpt your body over time! It is the type of class which you can progress with over time, and in the short time that I have been taking it, I could already tell that my butt looked more lifted and I was looking altogether more lean. The weight and floor work part of this class are unique and more challenging than classes I've taken at other gyms, and believe me, I've taken a lot!! Meraki also offers yoga and Zumba classes. As for the gym layout, the single workout room is very nicely kept. Mirrors line one entire wall. It has great mood lighting, and they provide clean and fresh-smelling mats for you to use. Upstairs is an infrared sauna that members can use at a discounted price. The gym has a set of small lockers with lock and key provided, and a single bathroom for member use. Best of all, the owner Robin and the teachers are an exceptional group of ladies. Friendly, non-intimidating, and super sweet! This is a small, more personal-feeling gym where you start to feel like family...pretty much right off the bat. Meraki Barre is definitely a gem. It's non-pretentious feel and fun classes are breath of fresh air compared to other gyms in this area. You'll love it! read more

If you're looking for a first class fitness experience, without that "corporate" feel, and a studio filled with friendly people, look no further. Meraki has everything you want, and more! I recently came back to Meraki after a year long hiatus from having a baby. When my daughter was 11 weeks old I finally felt like I was ready to get back into my old fitness routine, so I decided to give Meraki another try. I was a little nervous to come back after taking so much time off from barre and felt a little self conscious, but after taking Heather's class I'm SO glad I came back. The minute you walk into the studio you're greeted with a warm 'hello' and a smile. The studio is absolutely beautiful, and even when classes are full you don't feel packed in (like you might at other barre studios). The instructors are knowledgeable and personalize every class. They have a passion for what they do and it shows. The owner, Robin, is probably the sweetest person you'll ever meet. She is so helpful when it comes to answering questions and getting you all set up to take classes. Plus, her dogs grace the studio with their presence from time to time, which is awesome! I highly recommend that anyone (regardless of their fitness level) take a class at this studio. I tried Barre and I love it. I got my ass kicked. My whole body was so sore but I loved it. After the Barre class I stayed back for Hip Hop. The reason I gave this place 3 stars was because of this class. I was hoping that it'd be a safe environment since I'm not really good with choreography. I can move my body, I can dance and I love dancing (freestyle) but I'm a little bit slower than everyone else at following the instructor dance moves. But I felt judged. The instructor seems to be very frustrated when I couldn't get the steps. He kept saying "It can't be any simpler". I get it. It's simple to you, just like Math or Science is simple to someone but not for others. I love dancing and I'm sorry that I'm not really good at it but I was really trying hard to follow. And there's this girl in class she kept trying to teach me how to move and giving me instructions when nobody asked and it distracted me so much to the point that I actually gave up. It's such a bummer cause I was really looking forward to taking this class. I'll continue to come back for Barre and I want to try TRX and Pound but probably not Hip Hop. I'll find some other class around here or maybe just dance at home where nobody's looking. read more

Tonight was my second Barre class with this studio and ever in my life. Janine was my first instructor and Kelly was this evenings instructor. They are both amazing and I think I may be sold on this place. I love the owner, she is so cute and sweet. Studio is nice and clean, easy to park, (parking at my last studio sucked). I actually liked the 2 classes I took at Meraki Barre but I'll never go back there because of their unprofessionalism, poor customer service, and lack of communication. My first time there was CHAOS, the waiting room is small but someone had a HUGE DOG running around inside. When I signed up for my first "free class" I was just told to fill out the paperwork and they showed the lockers, ect. NO ONE explained the Groupon fine print to me. A few weeks later I went back to "redeem" my Groupon and start classes (again no one mentioned any of the terms to me). This is when the 8 weeks started. Long story short I went to sign up for another class and my Groupon was marked as expired. I emailed and called the studio MULTIPLE times and it took them almost 4 to5 days to respond to me with replies like "Groupon expired on mo/day." For this reason I won't be going back and definitely recommend won't recommend the studio to anyone. Be cautious with the Groupon and best of luck to anyone trying to get a hold of the studio staff. read more

I have tried many a workouts. But nothing has helped me like Meraki Barre. I had bad knees and was scared to try any new workout with the fear of further injury. After 6 months of going to class regularly, I not only lost weight but had toned up. I would recommend Meraki Barre any day and to anyone who is losing hope on failing workouts. I LOVE MERAKI! I kept hearing about how amazing barre classes were and needed to switch up my workout routine so I decided to buy the groupon deal...and boy am I happy I did :) I love the fact that they offer variety in their classes although A.B.T. is by far my favorite! Bethany is honestly a miracle worker...she has such strong energy and encourages you to want to push yourself to the limit...and only a few weeks into her classes and I noticed results! The place is a little small, but okay. Meraki lacks customer service, I called several times within a 5 day period and never got a live person. I emailed 4 times with 5 days asking about issues with my account. It took for the 4th email and 5th day to receive a response from the owner. The response didn't make sense and seemed very unprofessional. When I responded to the owner an let her know that I thought there was a lack of customer service and professionalism she replied back with just an invoice- no details in the body of the email. I had purchased a Groupon, but was unaware that she started it from the first day I attended the free class, not a month later when I went to class to use the Groupon. The Owners response to my email- 5 days later and unprofessionalism is very disturbing for new clients. I will never attend Meraki again. read more

Normally exercise is not my thing, but.........Amazing personalities, cute style, inspirational staff and decor, educated and motivated instructors keep me coming back for more. Barre; is like speed ballet and I always leave with a great sense of accomplishment, ABT; painful and worth it, and Pound is much needed in my life,. Meraki Barre as a whole is amazing. My only complaint is one class got switched at the last minute, and you need to schedule the classes ahead of time on line. This does keep me acceptable for attending so that works great for me, but might be difficult for others. Marley is still my all time fave instructor but had to start taking barre in the early 6am class with Jaime due to my own schedule change. Jaime is a tough & very challenging teacher. I really like the TRX class at this studio and I bought several packages after my initial Groupon. But the more often I went, I had to wonder, why are the teachers always changing? Why are there so many Groupon customers but no regulars? The owner can be very sweet when she wants to be, but she talks trash about her teachers to students, which is completely inappropriate. At one point she let on that she was struggling to keep the business open, also inappropriate, but I felt bad and wanted to keep doing TRX, so I bought another package of classes. Then I got injured and my doctor told me I could not go anymore. I asked the owner if she could work with me on my remaining classes, such as let me sell them to another student, but after attempting to get a hold of her 3 times with no response, it seems like a lost cause. Since I stopped going in February, there is not a single teacher remaining that was there the beginning of this year. Also, students are required to reserve a class online ahead of time, but then if you can't make it, she charges you for a class. I argued this once and was told she couldn't bend the rules or she could never afford to stay in business. So she's staying in business because I canceled a class, she kept my money, and then still filled my spot with another paying customer? Seems pretty shady to me. It's also very challenging to even reserve a spot because there have been so many Groupon deals because no one was buying packages after their Groupon deal was done. The schedule was also inconsistent because of the high teacher turnover. Save your money and find another studio - there are plenty of other barre, yoga and TRX studios in the area where the owners won't be rude to you or take your money unethically. Additionally, the owner stalks all of her customers on Facebook but then deletes them as soon as she doesn't like them. I reached out to her several times via email (since she doesn't answer her phone) and she did not respond, then she just deleted me. I absolutely love going to Meraki Barre. I started going in April after I bought a Groupon. I bought the 20 class package and never thought I'd actually use up all classes within 8 weeks, but I loved it so much I used them all and have bought packages since to keep going. My favorite class by far is Pound - it's just like a hip hop class but made for working out and Jamie is a killer teacher. She's high energy, tough and pushes you. I, like many other reviews here, bought the Groupon deal. I have only done one class but am signed up for 6 more in the next 2 weeks. My first class was great! I took A.B.T. at lunch with Bethany. I was initially intimidated by all the girls in there who knew what they were doing (not to mention their bodies were incredibly toned and mine...isnt). The class was super intense but I was able to keep up, and I like that Bethany didnt make feel feel stupid for not being able to totally do every move correctly like all the regulars. I am still sore days later and am looking forward to my next classes! The studio is clean, filtered water was provided for the dummies (yep, me) who forgot theirs, the staff is friendly and all of the equipment looks new and well maintained. It's close to home for me and even though its a tad pricey, I feel that its worth getting the 1 month unlimited membership once I run out of my Groupon classes. Update: I have now added barre and Pound classes to my Meraki repertoire and i have to say I really love this studio! Everyone is SO friendly and the classes are so much fun. I really feel a difference in my body after going a few days a week and I'm excited to keep it up! I couldnt recommend Meraki any more!! read more

This studio rocks! My very first class I was running totally late due to traffic and poor time management on my part, so I called to inform them I wouldn't make it, but Bethany gave me the rest of the directions and I was actually close enough to not be terribly late. She even had my mat and all the equipment set up for me once I finally got there. Had this been any other fitness studio I've been to, I would've been turned away for sure. The instructors here are awesome, Bethany is by far my fave--where she gets all her energy I have no idea, but she will have you sweating in her Barre and ABT (Abs Butt Thighs) classes. Kim's Yoga Sculpt is equally heart pumping, but I haven't seen it on the schedule for a couple weeks, so I hope they bring it back (hint, hint). Lastly, I really appreciate the organization at Meraki. Robin has mastered the mind body online scheduling system, and has made it effortlessly easy to pick out your classes for the week, reserve your spot, and also check your attendance record...so cool! I wish I could give this place an actual review.. But considering the 6 attempts I have made to contact this studio to use the groupon I purchased, I can't give them a very good one. I've emailed 3 times and called 3 times to schedule and get information on what I need to bring and NO ONE has contacted me back. That's very poor customer service. I'll be contacting groupon to get my money back, and it's a bummer because I was really excited to try this studio. Looks like I'll have to keep looking for a studio that actually responds to people that want to join. I can see from all the other low star reviews that this has been a problem for your business for months. Here's some advice: RESPOND BACK TO THE PEOPLE THAT WANT TO GIVE YOU THEIR MONEY. read more

My experience with Meraki Barre has been amazing. I've taken a variety of their classes (Pound, TRX, and BarreLux) and every class was an incredible workout. I especially love TRX because it is such a full body strengthening workout! I've been meaning to write this review for awhile! I discovered Meraki Barre like most others through Groupon! That was in September of 2013 and I'm still with it! I was a regular of Pop Physique studio and when their Costa Mesa studio closed I went in search of a new barre place and I'm so happy I found Meraki! The studio itself is clean, has a cute lobby area with lockers to safely store your belongings and has 2 bathrooms. The owner Robin is super friendly and extremely helpful. She will email me directly to let me know that my package is almost finished and offer me a new deal and I sign back up every time! I do the 30 class package for $300 but it always comes with like 10 freebies which is an awesome deal! I have taken almost every class they offer with almost every instructor that has worked there since I started going. I'm addicted to Pound with Jamie. She is by far the best Pound instructor around and this class kicks your butt! I even ordered the Pound DVD and ripstix so I could do it at home! I also am a Barre junkie - which you can't go wrong with any of the girls who teach it, Jen, Jamie, Radhika, & Jess are all great teachers. They each teach a little differently so the classes aren't monotonous but each one leaves you feeling the burn! The online scheduling with mindbody is super easy and convenient, enabling you to sign up for classes weeks in advance and easily cancel or change when needed. It also tracks everything from your payment info, to your visit history, to your current class schedule. Meraki is perfect for girls who like work out classes but don't want to go to a sweaty gym with a zillion people staring at you. It's like a little Zen sanctuary of fitness! Don't let some of the bad reviews fool you! I bought the Groupon for 10 classes for $19, and I haven't had a problem with reserving my classes. The Saturday morning classes fill up the quickest, but I've been able to go to 2 Saturday morning classes already, and am scheduled to go to a couple next week on the weekdays. It is super easy to reserve your classes online. The schedule goes up about two weeks before each class. HOWEVER, you don't need to book it that early to get in. For my Saturday classes, I booked them early the week of, and if I was waitlisted, there was still a chance I would get in to the class. So I personally have found no problem with the reservation system, as long as you don't expect to be able to get into a class because you randomly want to go on the day of. As for the classes themselves, I've taken only barre classes with Destiny, Katie and Emily. All three instructors are great, but my favorites are Destiny and Katie because they actually do the workout with you so you can see how the exercises should be done and personally, I just feel more motivated to do it when the instructor is doing it with me. They still come around and adjust your positions too, so it's not completely hands-off. The exercises are very similar to pilates type stretching exercises and repetition, with some barre work and light cardio. The exercises are challenging, but you don't feel pressured to do more than you're able to. They also provide all the equipment and mats, so you don't have to worry about bringing anything. I've definitely left feeling like I get a good workout and am stretching a lot of the muscles I never use. I would highly recommend Meraki Barre, especially if they have the Groupon special available. read more

Meraki Barre is my favorite work out place by far. The classes are intense and so much fun. Kims classes really are like boot camp! Every instructor I have taken has been fun, energetic, sweet, and has a great workout. I love love love barrelux. POUND is definitely worth trying at least once. It sounds crazy, but it was a lot of fun and made me want to dance! The class schedule is very accommodating and I can still make a class even if I get out of work late. I had a groupon here a while ago and LOVED it!! This place offers a wide variety of classes and I loved all the instructors. I took yoga and barre classes from Dani (who works at Equinox now) and loved her. I highly recommend this place. The classes are unique and fun- pound and trx especially. This is the best place to get a great work out. I'm not one to work out because I'm not good at it nor do I enjoy it but a friend of mine turned me on to Meraki Barre and now I'm obsessed. I've been taking barre classes and I really enjoy it, it's only an hour long and the music is blasting the whole time which makes the class fun, it's an intense work out that kicks my butt every time. I have enjoyed the studio so much I decided to take it a step further and signed up for a full body TRX class with Jessie, I haven't yet taken it but i hear great thing about Jessie and her class. Tonight was my first time at Meraki Barre and I already love it. Unlike other studios the staff is not pretentious, they were sweet as could be. The studio is small and quaint and very private. I was first brought to Merakki Barre through a Groupon deal and what an amazing offer it was. The instructors are great and ultra motivating. The classes are intense and challenging, pushing you to your limits but the burn you feel the next couple days is so worth it! I love the small class sizes and the fact that there have so far been only women in the classes I have participated in making them very comfortable. LOVE the pound workout! Great place. I love this place. From the ambience, to the instructors, to the dogs there to greet you--this place is pretty awesome. I love the classes here and am always challenged. The staff makes you feel welcomed and comfortable no matter what your skill level. I always take the yoga class on Tuesdays (I love that class!) and like taking the barre classes when I can.
