Had the worst and most unethical and unprofessional experience at this car dealership. Walked in and were approved on the spot but since it was late in the evening Junior Zaragoza and Mgr.Mike said that they would call us the following morning waiting on approval from a credit union for a better interest rate. We agreed since we were in no rush. The following morning didn't hear anything until I contacted them. The whole day Junior Zaragoza was playing games texting me back and forth. The minute I said I was on my way to see what was going on a immediately got a call back saying they had just sold the vehicle to someone who walked in with a 750 credit score! Stay Away!!!! I drove all the way from Sacramento to Merced to buy a 2016 Impala 2016 LtZ. Top Of The Line. They were aware I was driving down yet when i got there the car was filthy. They didn't even wash it!!!!!! I had to stop on the way home because the windshield was so dirty I couldn't see out of it. Also they promised me another key, couldn't find it so we will drop it in the mail to you. That was last Thursday. I have called Steve the seller twice!! No word. My husband and I were very impressed with the service department staff at the Merced Chevrolet dealership. We were driving our 2015 Chevy Silverado truck up to a wedding in Tahoe. Unfortunately a exhaust fluid warning light came on telling us to get it serviced and it stated how our maximum speed would gradually decrease to 4 mph. It was a Friday morning and we were desperate to get to Truckee by 4pm for the rehearsal dinner. We had already disconnected our travel trailer and left it at a Los Banos RV dealer. After several phone calls to other Chevy dealers, they all told us they would "try" to get our truck in on Monday. Then we called Tom(the service manager) at Merced Chevrolet and he said they would look at it today, but couldn't guarantee it would be fixed today if they needed to get parts. So off we went to Merced, thinking we would have to rent a car, rent a house or hotel room...if we could find one! We arrived at the Merced Chevy service Dept where we were greeted by a very kind service advisor. He actually was sympathetic about our situation. Got our truck up on a lift immediately and suggested we wait 1-2 hours "in case" they could fix it by then. We never dreamed they would make US a priority!! So off we went to eat some breakfast while we waited. We were back in an hour and it felt like a miracle, as we walked up to the service bay our truck was there facing the street and it was ready to go! They had found the problem with a faulty heat sensor that tripped the EF service warning which was slowly shutting down the truck's speed. Merced Chevrolet Service Department truly saved our trip. Headed back to pickup our airstream trailer and we arrived in time for the rehearsal dinner after all. Thank you to all of the service department for caring about us and our truck. Best price on a 2017 silveradao! However, the salesman who helped us was not very customer oriented. He made us feel bad about asking for a $500 discount on the truck. I understand that the price is already very good, however, a $500 discount is not much either. All he had to say when we ask him to make the proposal to the financial manager was to say something like, "this is already a really good deal but I can definately ask. The worse that can happened is that they will say "no". " That would have made us feel as if he was there for us and not just to make the dealership the most money. read more

Brought my truck for recalls service and got it back after few days and noticed my steering wheel back light not working called them back for problem and kept telling me it's not part of the recall and it's not there fault coz they did not touch anything by the steering wheel. Right away same thing with the service manager no help at all. Or a better explanation on what happen. It's a simple logic car whent in with a check off of what's damaged or needs attention list and the same when they get done doing inspections. The only thing they put on comment is need to add oil but everthing else is okey wth! Now I'm stuck with this situation coz there denying something happen while there working on my vehicle. Literally the rudest people I've ever spoken with. Wanting to purchase from out of state. Offered to wire them the FULL AMOUNT of the vehicle, or send in a friend who lives in the area with THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE VEHICLE, to secure the car until I could fly down (in the next few days). Wouldn't accept it. Filled out a credit app so they could maybe take a loan instead... wouldn't do it. Basically I'd have to book a ticket and HOPE it would still be there when I arrived. I made my appointment to see a jeep renegade , I drove from los Angeles to Merced to see the car. I loved the car but we couldn't do anything because the bank was closed on Saturday. On Monday my husband who lives in Fresno did not go to work to go to the bank to make sure that the loan process was ready, to which the bank told him that everything was done and they instructed me to add the car to the insurance. The insurance told me it would take 24 hours to send the proof to the bank so they can give us the check and pay the car. My surprise was that even though I had all my paperwork completed and the loan ready they closed the deal because they had another buyer. The bank spoke to them and confirmed to them that the check was ready and they still sold it. They do not value their customer. They made my husband and I waste our time and we will definitely never be making business with them. read more

Then finally responds to set up appointment to sign docs, only to have him say that the car was sold, 2 days later. Now, he won't respond to ANY emails. They were very fast and professional. This is my second oil change there and I will go again but I will call for an appointment instead of scheduling one on the internet. This review is for the service department. This morning I took my truck in for an oil change. The service advisor that checked me in was Gio. Chevrolet gives you 2 free complementary oil changes when you buy a brand new truck. My third oil change was done at American Chevrolet in Modesto for $59 plus tax. I brought my truck in for an oil change at Merced Chevrolet and Gio charged me $107.99 for an oil change. I asked Gio why so much for an oil change and he gave me a lame excuse. I told him the last oil change I paid $60 dollars he looked at me and said "show me something that you paid $60 dollars for an oil change." I looked at him and kept my cool. I called to speak with Will the owner and he had Tom the "service director" call me which Was a complete waste of time. WILL for YOUR dealership to succeed it has a lot to do with your service department. I tried to keep my business local but Merced Chevrolets service department is full with a bunch of clowns. My experience with Merced Chevrolet has been far from enjoyable. I purchased a used Corvette a few years ago and was left with numerous repair bills that the manager Ray Tarelli refused to own up to. I will add, that my salesman James made every attempt to ensure that he was being as helpful as possible. However, I made it very clear to the sales manager at the time of purchase that I was purchasing the vehicle at a very busy time at work and wanted to ensure that I was getting a vehicle without any issues. The dealer sold me the vehicle with a bad harmonic balancer, steering column lock, alternator, and worst of all a bad gas tank floater. I tried reaching out to Ray and did not receive the same service when I wanted him to own up to the issue. I understand that at the end of the day these expenses will have an effect on his bottom line, but you need to take care of your customers. When he finally agreed to have his service center look at the vehicle, the service manager informed me that there was dirt in the belt and that this was the issue causing a squeak. It was obvious that they were just trying to get me to leave. After getting the vehicle properly diagnosed at Smiths Chevrolet, it was obvious that Merced Chrevrolet not only missed diagnosed the issue but did not want to resolve it. I tried reaching out to Ray but he refused to resolve my concerns. I went ahead and had Smith's move forward with the repair. About $3,000 later, I was able to get everything repaired but the Gas tank floater (Which is an expensive repair). They say that the Service Department defines the quality of the dealership and I would completely agree. Unfortunately, I was never given the opportunity to speak to the owner Wil Dean. Since then, my sister has purchased a new Denali and my brother purchased a new Duramax. They took my advise and didn't purchase them from Merced Chevrolet. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Merced Chevrolet to anyone. For those who may disagree, just wait until an issue arises and note if you are given the same service you received when you purchased the vehicle. Not only did they fail to retain me as a customer but I have made sure to vocalize my experience with everyone I know. Follow up: Wil, I have paperwork from my diagnostic at Smiths Chevrolet that confirms that it was more than a dirty belt that was causing the issue. As your service department was aware, I had to commute over 30 minutes to your service center and it was obvious that your team did not want to spend the time to properly diagnose the issue on my vehicle. I have the paperwork from Smiths that indicates that it was more than a dirty belt that was causing this issue. As stated above, the repairs from the vehicle I had just purchased from your Dealership were over $3,000. In addition, the faulty "fuel gauge" that your dealership failed to diagnose was a result of a bad floater. I will add that your dealership sold me the vehicle in this condition. You are correct, I have not returned to your dealership since February 2014. Wil, please tell me why Smiths Chevrolet was able to diagnose an issue that your service center could not find? Due to the terrible service I received there I decided to take the vehicle to a different dealership for repair. I purchased this vehicle from your dealership hoping that a proper inspection had been completed and I was not going to run into these issues. Thank you for your response. Great service! Gio Cowie went in there for a service call and possible recall Gio the service advisor researched for any recalls, found one that I was unaware about air bag deployment. I had a broke seal on my oil pan and oil filter loose which I lost some oil on my vehicle, the service team fix the issues at no cost and provided great service thank you Merced Chevrolet. read more

The salesmen themselves are not the issue of this particular dealership. The main problems that my husband and I encountered when trying to purchase a vehicle through this dealership can be directly related to the incompantancy of their financial department. We were forced to return to their dealership three times in the past week to fix mistakes made on our contract by thier financial manager because of thier false assurances that our credit union would accept the previous contract they had written only to have the credit union denie the contract for an issue that the dealership should have noticed before the contract was submitted. This entire issue could have been easily avoided if the dealership had informed us of thier inexperience in working with credit unions allowing us to research the contract terms on our own instead of making assurances that the contract would be accepted only to have it denied and my husband and I to have to resign. read more

Horrible service, twice I went to that dealership. Once to get an oil change, my wife dropped it off and when I went to pick it up, a 99 dollar bill was waiting for me for doing other stuff that was not cleared with me, they sure got my wife good, and all I wanted was an oil change. Second time I when to straighten out a bumper I noticed was not straight on my new truck. They had it all day and when I got it, it looked exactly the same, even though the paperwork said it was fixed. seems that they rather sit with they thumb up their ass than actually fix vehicles. The backslash from the tire shine that hit the bumper was untouched, which tells me that they didn't even touch it. Next time I will take it to Ron Smith, they do an actual oil change the same day for 44 dollars with tires rotated, inspected, (which is the same thing courtesy does for 99 dollars) and sometimes washed. read more

Do not take your car here. If I could score this a 0 I totally would!!! We had a problem with our car, the problem we had was it would turn on and as soon as we drove it over 15 miles and turned the car off it wouldn't turn back on. No electrical issues. We explained this to Mark, the mechanic we got stuck with. He didn't do any diagnostics on the car, he pretty much guessed on what he thought the problem was. He said he couldn't fix the car unless there was a engine light showing that there was something wrong. BUT he did apparently change a part that was needed, which didn't solve the initial problem. So who knows if it was necessary. These guys aren't trust worthy. if you're looking to get your car fixed and actually find GOOD EXPERIENCED Mechanics that know what they're doing go to Turlock Smith Chevrolet Cadillac. They went above and beyond to fix our car and figured it out. They didn't send us home with an unresolved problem. Sold us a truck with lift kit put in and even bought the warranty. 2 months after buying it, truck is broken down due to a bolt that wasn't screw in tightly and caused an amount of damage to the U joint along with oil holder pain, some other things also. Called them up and they told us warranty isn't covered due to the lift kit that was put it. We bought the truck with the lift kit already placed in! Horrible service and gave us the run around when we tried calling them. They never even told us that lift kits put into the truck voids all warranty. Staff friendly to make a sale for sure although, I was sold a 2011 Tahoe vehicle which I just found out had previously been stolen/recovered a couple months prior to my purchase and was never disclosed to me. Front bumper continues to keep peeling paint due to bad paint job being repainted prior to purchase. Due bill not honored initially as promised. Missing car parts, brand new DVD player installed but still not working, gas tank fill valve issues and airbag service warning intermittent constant alert since purchase. Multiple calls to speak with the Owner only to have the Sales Manager return my calls days/weeks later only to offer to repair DVD player again and touch up peeling paint on bumper. Manager stated they were not aware of the vehicle being stolen/recovered at sale and if they did they would have never sold it and that it would have gone straight to auction, in his words..."We don't sell stolen/recovered cars!" Super disappointed with dealership and must declare this was the worst car buying experience I've ever had!! REPLY TO DEALERS COMMENTS: Dealer reply is not true! Car Fax report was not available on line to us at sale only shown on their computer during transaction with the front page only showing no accidents. If the dealer was aware of this theft issue because they state the Car Fax report was listed on line why did they sell it instead of sending to auction as stated? I complained multiple times via phone calls and went back to dealer on 3 different occasions to talk to them to address the DVD player issue and other items promised on the due bill in the beginning and middle of ownership. It is only after I found out the true history of the Tahoe that I called and returned again back in May when I had paint peeling on the bumper. All other items were complained about in the beginning but no one would return calls. This dealership should make things right by taking the vehicle back and replacing with another in true disclosed satisfactory running condition. Still disappointed...don't buy here! They took a trade in on a stolen vehicle and obviously we're at a loss when they found out. I have tried to let this go but I believe that customer service is key in a service oriented business. I have been a long time customer of Merced Chevrolet dealer, have purchased in a consistent manner several work trucks for my business. I now believe and know that this dealer does not value long term customers after they forced upon us to take possession a vehicle that was ordered wrong by the salesman arguing that it was what we had asked for and the dealer blatantly expressing that it was our mistake even thought we know the salesman made the mistake but would not own up to it. They treated us with total disrespect and no regard. I am so disappointed with the purchase, I have always tried to support the community I live in to buy and keep our local business open. It is sad and obvious that the dealers owner, the general manager, and the salesman don't care and perhaps don't need people from their community to support them and definitely being a long time repeat customer has no value.... The last statement that came out of the general manager's mouth was " come and get your pick up out of my dealer or I will have it towed". I am sure he feels very empowered because he runs a dealership, as far as I am concern I will continue to purchase vehicles for my business but will definitely go somewhere else. read more
