    Baked Mac and Cheese

Mac and cheese was just ehhhh, but the havarti grilled cheese was a YES. The clam chowder was cold, so I'd skip. cocktails are super unique. Definitely order the sun damage! I got the mocktail version and it was so tasty. The live music they had this night started at 9 and was super funky. You can't really have conversations during it, it's very loud, so don't go there if you're trying to have deep conversations instead of vibing to some music lol. Overall I would go back for drinks and music again!

I had the fish and chips, it was nice, and I loved the garlic fries. The price was in the higher side but it was good. Service was really nice and they offered my friend additional fried fish because the one she had was smaller. The ambience was nice too

This place was such a pleasant surprise! It was located right near our Airbnb and is also a short walk away from The House of the Seven Gables. It a small restaurant/bar but everything was beyond delicious and the service was excellent! We came here twice during our weekend stay. I swear I had one of the best cups of New England Clam Chowder I have ever had here, it was perfect. My husband also isn't a hummus fan but devoured our hummus appetizer- and I agree as the one who is actually a fan of hummus it was absolutely delicious. We also had a chance to try their burgers and WOW, every bite we took left us just wanting more and their fries were also amazing as well. Great cocktail menu and beer list, this place should absolutely be on your must try list when visiting Salem!

Mercy Tavern has some of the best food and drinks in Salem, hands down! Service is always friendly and attentive. A cute little gem on Derby Street, with indoor and outdoor seating. If you have a smaller party and want to sit inside, you may be offered to sit at a larger table with another small party. My absolute favorites are the ribs and the pumpkin ravioli (seasonal). Live music over the weekend too.

Cool, hipster vibe kinda bar. Ample seating indoors and some cafe tables outside. The hostess was the sweetest interacting with a child like he was an adult. Very patient and attentive. Our server was nice. On it the whole time. My Fish and Chips were AMAZINGGGG! Perfect crunch and flavor but the Garlic Fries were SUPREME!!! Whole chunks of roasted garlic! I LOVED it!!!

This was my boyfriend and I first stop on our Salem trip! Loved the cozy atmosphere, the decor of course. Tis the season for amazing apple and pumpkin drinks ! The applejack was a delicious sweet take on a Moscow mule. The mercy burger was the perfect pick me up after traveling all day. Austin's service was fun and personable. We tried the "Gansett" beer and he let us weirdos keep the empty can. We got this sick pic on our walk back. I got exactly what I expected out of this place for a nice warm up to Salem and pick me up after a long day :)

Great little spot! A group of us came in without reservations on a Thursday afternoon. All the food was amazing (get. The. Fries.) service was great, and I liked the general atmosphere and vibe inside. This will be added to my favorite Salem spots for sure.

Excellent vibes, excellent drinks, excellent food! We needed a place for a quick nosh before hitting the 7 Gables museum and it was "near me" so we walked the few hundred feet over. We got a seat at the bar right away, almost the last seats in the very small venue, packed in the early afternoon of a chilly Saturday. Austin took care of us right away we ordered the clam chowder and baked Mac and cheese with bacon to split and it's a good thing because it was a massive portion of Mac and Cheese. Now I love a good New England clam chowder but I love it even more when it's chock FULL of clams and potatoes and bacon like this one was. Then came the Mac and Cheese and I don't know whose idea it was to put big slab sized chunks of onions in it but it was a masterful idea. I was dubious at first but OMG they were so good and elevated the flavor. I didn't want to eat as much as I did but I just kept going back for the onions and just one more noodle, I swear just one more! Excellent experience. I bet this is the kind of place that I would LOVE packed at night too!

The clam chowder was good but the main dish was so so. It's a really cute tavern that's off the beaten path so it might not be as crowded.

We just went in and dropped a worthy $80 on lunch - 2 tequila mules, a special of buffalo bites (if u are lucky and these are on special again - order them!). Chicken kabob sandwich - juicy, perfectly grilled chicken and my husband got the mouth-watering pastrami sandwich. We packed half of it up for dinner tonight. I only gave 4 stars due to the lousy, noisy, raunchy bar flies. They couldn't care less about other customers as they were shouting and cussing away. Having a conversation with my husband was impossible. The bartender, who was 5 stars in her service to us, attempted to remind these people to stop yelling. I understand being a local, as I am one, and it makes me want to keep my favorite places in business. However, disruptive and rude bar flies should be shut out ff earlier and asked to leave or at the very least pipe down. Ultimately, I highly recommend anyone local or out of town to try The Tin Whistle for the food and service. Maybe try one of the tall comfy wooden booths would make for a better atmosphere.

The chicken pieces were really small, and well done, so if you don't like that type of thing you would not like this. But everything else was awesome. The other brother got a spicy shrimp appetizer as his meal, and I'm not a fan of spicy, but he said it was very good. It's in a great location in downtown Beverly with a large parking lot behind it, so parking was easy. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. We ordered two appetizers: the calamari and the mushroom arancini. The calamari was the strangest version I've ever had, mixed with jalapeños, arugula, tomatoes, and marinara sauce placed underneath. The combination didn't really work, and I wasn't a fan of the sauce being on the bottom instead of on the side. The arancini was better, but still odd. It was served over some kind of Alfredo sauce, which again felt unnecessary. It seems like this place really likes putting sauce on the bottom of dishes, and it didn't enhance the food. The real highlight of the night was the drinks. We both ordered espresso martinis, and they were honestly the best espresso martinis I've ever had. There were several other cocktails that looked great as well, so we'll definitely be back to try more drinks. Overall, the food was underwhelming and didn't meet my expectations. I wouldn't come back for the food, as their takes on classic dishes just didn't work for me. That said, if you're looking for great cocktails, Soma is absolutely worth it, especially for the espresso martinis. Get dinner elsewhere in Beverly and stop by Soma for drinks!
