If you're looking for fresh, excellent and authentic Peruvian food Barra Callao is the spot for you. The restaurant is tiny, with a chef table style dining experience. No reservations just walk-in. I highly recommend not going here too hungry because you'll most likely have to wait... but don't let that scare you because the food is definitely worth the wait. We ordered seafood ceviche, Parmesan scallops, arroz, and 2 crudos. I can't tell you how perfect and fresh every bite was. I savored every dish -- wow. It was so good we ordered the ceviche dish twice.

Make a reservation to this spot ASAP! They deliver on everything! I was welcomed by Cynthia, who got me set up for a spot at the bar. She broke down the concept of how things are ordered directly with Chef Anthony and from there, the rest is history. They warned their Michelin Gourmand bib last night and it was well deserved. First dish was the fish ceviche with medium spice (you can choose your level of spice). It was by far one of my favorite dishes. Following that, I had scallops that were like butter in my mouth with an orange zest as a finish. Following that was a tuna and avocado hamachi with a little crunch. This one is savory with a hint of sweet and it was a unique dish because of the ginger but it was good. Next up, the crispy rice with two tuna and two salmon and that was also part of my favorite bites. I ended the evening with tuna belly nigiri. It did not disappoint. 10/10 for all of the above. Definitely a cute spot surrounded by great company. Cute ambiance but you will also miss it because there is no sign outside so when Siri says you've arrived, she's not lying. Check them out and enjoy!

In a city with hundreds of Peruvian restaurants, this is the BEST elevated option. On a Friday evening my party of 3 waited about 15 minutes, although it was consistently busy all night so I would try to keep in mind any group over 3 will have a hard time getting seated during peak times. Every single dish we ordered was delicious and very creative. I'd order the octopus carpaccio every day if I could. The only one my group as a whole did not love was the oysters. The flavor was a bit lacking, I typically love fresh oysters. I'm giving it a 5 because there's nothing that would slightly deter me from coming back. But I'd say if there was any room for improvement - please get more comfortable seats.

Top notch experience! There's just something so intimate about sitting bartop and the chef preparing every dish in front of you, just for you. We were celebrating a fellow yelp elites bday and we got together to dine here, as she chose it. So happy she did. We had to wait a bit to get seated as the place is small but so worth it. Every dish was a work of art. We literally wanted to try everything off the menu. Standouts were the Parmesan crusted oven backed scallops in their shells, the octopus in an amazing med olive creamy sauce, the seafood rice which had green grains, and the ceviche. Great place to share dishes to sample many. For dessert the dish included the Peruvian fruit Luca, with cream, and coffee brown sugar plus pistachios. Another work of art and delicious. I highly recommend you check them out. Only downside was the barstools. Our booties were hurting by the end of the night haha.

Minuscule restaurant west of the railroad in nameless street mall. As the name states (barra is counter in Spanish) seating is limited to about 12 seats at the counter. There is limited space to wait indoors, and the restaurant did not take reservations. You seat and the waitress explains the system. She takes the drink order, and the chef, behind the counter, takes the food order in arrival order. Service was top notch, very convivial and efficient. We ordered the ceviche mixto, oysters and spicy tuna causa. The chef adjusts the spiciness to order. All dishes were top level with amazing presentation and complex flavor combinations. For the quality, prices were risible. We finished our meal with a baked Alaska, perhaps the only forgettable dish of the evening. An 18% service fee is automatically added to the bill. Highly recommended, a real gem for a date or to hang out with a good friend.

Espectacular experiencia.100% recomendable. Ah, y el ambiente súper chévere!!!

Holy moly. Talk about a hole-in-the-wall. Located in an unassuming plaza, you'll be greeted by the vibrant neon signs hung in the windows making the place stick out from the other businesses in the plaza. Theres 4 people total working here. The main chef, sous chef, kitchen helper, and a waitress. All are very nice and you will receive great service, but you can definitely tell they are in the zone and focused on their craft. The seafood is amazing and fresh. It's so good that I've been 5 times in the past 4 weeks with different groups! You have to come and try. Just a few tips: Parking is definitely limited and there are only 12 bar style seating so not a good place to go if you have a large group. They only allow each party to order once all at one time in the beginning to help expedite the turnover of each group.

I have never had raw fish outside of sushi. I wasn't sure what I'd think of ceviche but the pictures were so pretty I had to try it. We were visiting Miami for a week and wanted to try something new. I wish we had tried more! My personal favorite was the olive octopus with the truffle scallops a close second. But honestly it was all good! Food came faster than expected. They were polite and friendly. It is an intimate experience with a maximum of 12 diners. We would definitely come back the next time we are in Miami!

PHENOMENAL!!! The best Peruvian! Tiny 12 seats at the bar so be prepared to wait outside. Ceviche so fresh and the best. Loved the cilantro rice, olive octopus, and scallops! The vibe is great with incredible upbeat music. Chef is sooo nice and super super talented. Love this place!!!

Chef Anthony did an amazing job. The food was superb. He was personable and interactive with the patrons.

Great experience all around service, ambience, and quality food! Reservations are a must but you can get lucky Monday- Friday for lunch walk ins!

This restaurant is a little gem. It's very small with limited seating that aren't that comfortable. But we are here for the food and it's amazing. The staff is very attentive and you get to see all the preparation of each dish, talk to the chef, and ask him questions. Nothing in this menu will disappoint. I went with two other friends and we almost of everything in the menu. All the dishes unique in taste but each crated an explosion of flavors.

Being Peruvian is really hard to find a good Peruvian Restaurant and be totally pleased. This is not the case when you eat at Barra Callao. Everything is delicious! the food is prepare at the moment in front of you by the chef, there is a wait because as soon as the chef gets your order he starts prepping your food until he gets to next costumer, there is a wait, but well worth it. The ambience is different, you get to sit and eat at the bar. That's why it's called Barra (Spanish for BAR). Highly recommended.

They were also able to provide us with separate checks with no fuss! This was a great plus for us. Overall I was glad with the quality and the variety they had. All the foods were freshly prepared, and arrived relatively fast to our table, so we all We're able to start eating and enjoying our food together. They also have a lunch menu! It is a reduced portion of their menu as it includes only 5 choices, but the choices are good enough that they are a great sampler of the food and the portion size is abundant! We all took some home for dinner! This time we did not taste their desserts, but I have such a craving for the chocolate cake that looked delicious, that I'm sure I'll be back soon! I ordered the tenderloin over the huancaina risotto and it was a huge portion (not a lunch menu item). The sauce was a bit salty so I did not take it "to go", just the delicious risotto and the tenderloin chunks. Three friends ordered the "trio" sampler with ceviche, fried calamari and some risotto; a couple friends ordered the sautéed chicken with white rice and French fries that looked spectacular, and a couple other friends ordered the fettuccini in huancaina sauce with the breaded chicken filet that was a humongous dish and very yummy! Finally one friend ordered a Maki Sushi roll that was beautifully plated, and another ordered the seafood risotto that was also very yummy. Everything smelled and looked like something I would've loved to have... so juat Enjoy and come back for more! Don't forget to check the last page for those lunch specials!
