And their small intimate space with the chefs counter makes for a lovely experience that is fun yet relaxed. We looked over the menu and basically wanted everything so we just told the chef to start sending us dishes until we tapped out. And that is what he did. Showed up for a 5:30 reservation at this little gem! There are only 10-12 seats so I highly recommend making a reservation. The service is incredible, the chef and other staff were quick and very attentive, making sure each dish is crafted to perfection. It's a very casual spot but the presentation of the food is up to par with some of the Michelin star restaurants you can find in the city. I do want to note that each group is served one at a time. We unfortunately showed up right after a group of 6 with another party of 2 already at the counter. The chef takes the order of the party that comes in first. The group of two ordered almost everything on the menu and the group of six put in multiple things meaning we were not able to put in an order until 6:30. Though this does make sense since there were only 3 people preparing the food, it was unfortunate since we were hungry and waited an hour to put in our first order. That being said, the food was incredible. We got the fish ceviche, spicy. tuna causa, and the cilantro lime rice. If you like spicy, get the ceviche spicy! It was one of the best ceviches I've ever had. The causa was very well balanced and the cilantro rice had a good amount of seafood in it. Everything was so beautifully prepared we almost didn't want to eat it! She broke down the concept of how things are ordered directly with Chef Anthony and from there, the rest is history. They warned their Michelin Gourmand bib last night and it was well deserved. First dish was the fish ceviche with medium spice (you can choose your level of spice). It was by far one of my favorite dishes. Following that, I had scallops that were like butter in my mouth with an orange zest as a finish. Following that was a tuna and avocado hamachi with a little crunch. This one is savory with a hint of sweet and it was a unique dish because of the ginger but it was good. Next up, the crispy rice with two tuna and two salmon and that was also part of my favorite bites. I ended the evening with tuna belly nigiri. It did not disappoint. 10/10 for all of the above. Definitely a cute spot surrounded by great company. Cute ambiance but you will also miss it because there is no sign outside so when Siri says you've arrived, she's not lying. In a city with hundreds of Peruvian restaurants, this is the BEST elevated option. On a Friday evening my party of 3 waited about 15 minutes, although it was consistently busy all night so I would try to keep in mind any group over 3 will have a hard time getting seated during peak times. Every single dish we ordered was delicious and very creative. I'd order the octopus carpaccio every day if I could. The only one my group as a whole did not love was the oysters. The flavor was a bit lacking, I typically love fresh oysters. I'm giving it a 5 because there's nothing that would slightly deter me from coming back. Top notch experience! There's just something so intimate about sitting bartop and the chef preparing every dish in front of you, just for you. We were celebrating a fellow yelp elites bday and we got together to dine here, as she chose it. So happy she did. We had to wait a bit to get seated as the place is small but so worth it. Every dish was a work of art. We literally wanted to try everything off the menu. Standouts were the Parmesan crusted oven backed scallops in their shells, the octopus in an amazing med olive creamy sauce, the seafood rice which had green grains, and the ceviche. Minuscule restaurant west of the railroad in nameless street mall. As the name states (barra is counter in Spanish) seating is limited to about 12 seats at the counter. There is limited space to wait indoors, and the restaurant did not take reservations. You seat and the waitress explains the system. She takes the drink order, and the chef, behind the counter, takes the food order in arrival order. Service was top notch, very convivial and efficient. We ordered the ceviche mixto, oysters and spicy tuna causa. The chef adjusts the spiciness to order. All dishes were top level with amazing presentation and complex flavor combinations. For the quality, prices were risible. We finished our meal with a baked Alaska, perhaps the only forgettable dish of the evening. An 18% service fee is automatically added to the bill. Located in an unassuming plaza, you'll be greeted by the vibrant neon signs hung in the windows making the place stick out from the other businesses in the plaza. Theres 4 people total working here. The main chef, sous chef, kitchen helper, and a waitress. All are very nice and you will receive great service, but you can definitely tell they are in the zone and focused on their craft. The seafood is amazing and fresh. It's so good that I've been 5 times in the past 4 weeks with different groups! You have to come and try.
