We went here to celebrate my birthday. We're new to Ocala so I was depending on Yelp reviews to help me choose a nice place for a special occasion. This place did not disappoint. We were seated quickly and offered a menu. While we investigated the menu they helped us choose a nice bottle of wine. My companion had the Capellini de Notte and he very much enjoyed it. It has chicken breast ,onion, pancetta,sun dried tomatoes,wild mushrooms and fresh spinach in a light garlic brown butter sauce. I opted for the Angelo Osso Buco which is a braised lamb shank in a rich merlot sauce served with a Parmesan risotto. It was fork tender and absolutely delicious The wait staff was always available but not intrusive. We were too full to try the dessert but were encouraged to relax and enjoy finishing our wine. I would consider this a mid--scale IT restaurant: it is located in a strip mall on busy Silver Springs Blvd. it's decor is decent, but functional. Italian crooners and opera stars are playing overhead during the whole meal (which I find tiresome). The wait staff is excellent, pleasant, informative and attentive. (And we were seated quickly, even without a reservation.) Price are fair, average for good quality IT food. The pasta dishes which the two of us had were very well prepared, tasty, and plentiful. The bread was warm and plentiful, with quality pesto. The wine list was fairly typical, with moderate prices ((although some upscale wines were available at the usual ridiculous prices). We're going tonight and I'm hoping for their Mushroom Risotto, which is amazing. If not, oh gosh, I'll have to settle for the pork shank, which blew my mind last time. Met a friend for a drink and stayed for the whole enchilada. Started at the bar with a perfectly mixed cocktail and some calamari to munch on. While I typically order the carpaccio this was a nice variation. I do have to tell on myself. I love fettuccine Alfredo I rarely order it because I just can't afford all of the calories. I had a friend that was willing to split it with me so I had to dig in. Glad I did. It was the best fettuccine Alfredo ive had in years. We go here at least twice a week!! The Calamari mesa chicken with extra artichokes and any dessert is what we get always. FAVORITE restaurant of my husband and I. We tend to sit at the bar and eat because we really enjoy the ladies that bartend. Small family run business. Closed on Sunday's and mondays. You can make reservations. Gracious service and excellent food. As someone who values quality over quantity, I commend this restaurant for delivering on both. The menu has many options and the portions are generous. My daughter received enough Osso Bucco (tender and nicely seasoned) to serve 3 and it was accompanied by risotto and a large, crisp Caesar Salad. I ordered an eggplant dish that included a side of fettuccine Alfredo. The eggplant was light and delicate and the fettuccine was rich and flavorful. A spring mix accompanied my entree and it was fresh w a house made blueberry vinaigrette that I enjoyed very much. Bottom line, I never eat eggplant or sweet vinaigrettes but I thoroughly enjoyed both. We also had snails as an app - snails don't make for a lovely presentation - but they were ample, nicely flavored and tender. Great wine list and the martinis looked tempting. The manager (I assume he was the Mgr or Owner) worked the room ensuring that no one wanted for anything. I compliment him for truly helping his employees on a very busy Friday night. read more

We might have come in on an"off" night as we brought friends & I bragged all day about dinner here. So 2 had chicken & veal parm., the breading & sauce had no flavor,nothing special & not tender at all (very unusual); the other 2 had Marsala & Mahi Mahi we each left 1/2 of our dinners. (kinda wish I didn't brag) 2 stars entrees. It was very busy & hectic, Not a relaxing atmosphere at All. Our first visit and everything was wrong from the first drink till the checks! 2 out of 4 Cocktails were wrong, appetizers cheese was hard and tasteless, fennel salad was overwhelmed with oregano, risotto was like paste not creamy. I made reservations for our Anniversary and asked for a quiet table we were seated in the middle of the main room. Nothing even being said about our special occasion....Even the checks were wrong after our friends gave instructions to our waitress and had called personally with same instructions.... Exceptional recipes, great service, amazing value here, every time! Service is never rushed, even when we're there during busiest hours. The food is very, very good . . . We've had almost everything on the menu, and it's all been exceptional. Try the short ribs!! The usual Italian classics like marsalas, piccatta, and all sauces are deliciously sublime and correctly amazing. I've eaten a lot of mediocre Italian restaurant cooking that lacks the flavor, depth and silky nuances of true homemade sauces. Come try some of the best around....I've eaten many places in Italy, and this is very close to perfect without leaving Florida. Everything I ordered here is phenomenal, but what really surprised me was the mushroom soup. The soup was perfectly balanced, with the right amount of seasoning. While creamy, it wasn't too overloaded with richness. Same could be said about the other items I ordered. The 16 inch ribeye was spot on medium rare.
