This is a solid breakfast and lunch spot. It was packed on a weekday around lunchtime. I decided to get a late breakfast and wasn't disappointed. I got a Denver omelette.. I believe( sorry I'm not positive), with hash browns and toast and it was very good. It was a very large space with good vibes. Friendly service. Pretty good prices for Sedona. My husband ordered a carne asada burrito. It came with beans, rice and guacamole. I thought it looked good he said it was just alright and would not order it again he also said the rice wasn't very good...he ate it. He said he would go back but order something different. I ordered a turkey burger and it was delicious I had fruit with it. We both had an ice tea. It's a casual place the service was good and the people were friendly. Nice folks. lovely wait staff. Food is terrible. we are from out of town and wanted to support local business. We had a club sandwich, tacos, a taco salad and Chiliequilles. All were terrible. Taco Bell's food is better. I don't know who is rating this establishment so highly but we left very disappointed and feeling ripped off to spend nearly $100 on such poor food. read more

I love a good diner with a booth situation where you can see what's happening in the kitchen. As soon as I walked in I could immediately tell this is where the locals eat and I was not at all disappointed. I had the basic breakfast (2 eggs & home fries) with French toast to substitute the toast. The breakfast was so delicious and filling and everything was cooked perfectly. This is a really great place for a filling meal before getting out to see the sights of Sedona. There were only a few patrons when I arrived so service was excellent and very prompt. read more

Food was wonderful, I ordered the chicken quesadillas and there was enough for two people. The quesadillas were really big and the sides were really good as well. Service was wonderful, price was great and we were served very quickly. We ate close to 5/00 and it was a great time to eat there on a Wednesday. I highly recommend Cafe Jose. Almost every time I'm in Sedona I eat here and have been doing so for the last 20 years almost decided to drop down from Flagstaff for lunch today and I'm so glad I slipped breakfast because I had the chili Relleno, a Carne Asada taco and a ground beef enchilada and as you can see from the photo they are all gone. Also the rice and beans were delicious especially the beans I have had better rice and that's just based on personal preferences. It's still very good. My waitress Courtney was exceptionally friendly and provide a great service. I have never had anything here that was bad and for Sedona they've got fantastic prices and always have I started eating here about two years after they opened in 2006 I believe they opened in 2004 by far one of my favorite places in Sedona!!! read more

The good: Service for our big group of 12 was flawless. Orders came out quickly and efficiently. Also, the prices are excellent, for pricey Sedona or anywhere. You can get a margarita for seven dollars, nothing wrong with that. And our server was happy to take a picture of our group against the cactus mural on the wall. However, this is definitely not the best Mexican food in Sedona as a local promised (I've only tried Tortas del Fuego in addition but that was better) and it really isn't a Mexican restaurant at all. Yes, you can get a lot of Mexican food but there are also a lot of American standbys, eg meat loaf. I always order the chile relleno combo plat when it is ordered. In mine the chile had not been roasted before prep which gave it a crunch I didn't expect or enjoy. Rice and beans were quotidian. Also the lighting is quite bright; don't make the place where you pop the question on a romantic date. Overall I was happy with the experience and would return if I were a local. Popped in for a weekday breakfast with a buddy. Had the Huevos Garcia to try something different. Loved the grilled onions and bell pepper twist on this classic dish. Huge serving, overall great taste. The availability of a bunch of hot sauces always makes me happy. The crispy potatoes were spot on. Based on the wonderful reviews here from Yelp we were lead to Cafe Jose. This family-owned restaurant is located off the beaten path and away from the touristy scene. It was easy to find, and there is plenty of parking in the lot. We didn't have to wait long to be seated and the booths here were pretty comfy. For my order, I decided on the two-item combo and chose the chicken enchilada and ground beef taco. This came with rice and beans. The taco was over-flowing with so much lettuce, that it could have been a taco salad. Unfortunately, the ground beef was dry, flavorless and the taco shell seemed a bit stale. Sadly, I didn't finish it after two bites. My enchilada combo was decent, although the enchilada was too salty for my liking, but at least it was better than the flavorless taco. The beans and rice were just ok. My son ordered the veggie scramble and enjoyed his meal overall. At least he had a better experience with his food than I did. If you're reading this review and visiting from another state, then you may want to consider bringing cash. This was a surprise to me, so I didn't have cash on hand and I was charged a small percentage for using my debit card. It wasn't a huge fee, but still enough to tack on an unwanted charge. Overall, my experience here was good and the customer service was friendly. My expectations of Mexican food might be different than someone else, so give this place a try if you're looking for reasonably priced Mexican food and a nice casual dining experience. read more

Visited this place that was very close to our accommodations after seeing the signage stating they are the "Best breakfast in Sedona". I ordered the buttermilk pancakes which came with two but were large. They were delicious & I also got a side of bacon which was cooked to perfection - I like my bacon crispy. Service was quick & the interior was decorated with a desert motif which was gorgeous to look at. read more

I can only rate the breakfast at Cafe Jose and I give it a spot on recommendation. Very reasonable prices for Sedona, plentiful portions and just all around great tasting food with excellent service. I had the Rancher breakfast with eggs, ham, hash browns and biscuits and gravy. It's not often I can't finish what I've ordered, but wow was I stuffed. Clean and pleasant atmosphere and multiple servers checked on us throughout our visit. Cafe Jose is a great way to start your day before a hike or to stop at after an early morning hike. read more

We're locals that have been here before for breakfast which was good. Tried them today for lunch. I ordered the grilled cheese with a bacon add and upgraded to onion rings. Extremely disappointed! My meal arrived grilled cheese sans bacon and the onion rings were soggy (how can that be)? Oh and by the way the bread was barely toasted (I could've cooked better at home). The waiter realized his/their mistake about missing the bacon and I requested they redo the grilled cheese with bacon. All they did was stick the bacon they cooked into the now cooled, undercooked grilled cheese sandwich. My husband's soup was good but the chicken salad sandwich was so so (I create a great chicken salad at home). Our mistake was paying for this meal and giving a great tip (20%) despite the poor food and not much better service. Come here for breakfast (how can you go wrong with eggs) but these short order cooks leave a LOT to be desired for lunch and dinner. read more

NO WAY, Jose! This was terrible. We ordered off the Mexican food side from the menu. My husband ordered the Asada burrito plate ($20) and barely touched his food. The burrito had no flavor. The meat was most likely cooked ahead of time, and heated up. We both had refried beans that tasted like canned Rosarita beans. Don't get me wrong, there is a time and place for those, but not at a restaurant. Our rice was unflavored. I had some enchiladas, and I will just leave it with, I would not recommend those. The service was great, fast, and friendly. This is our first day eating in Sedona and, if this is how the food tastes here, we are in trouble. read more

So glad we found this place. Food and service was very good. So many things to choose from it was hard to decide. We got the southwest Benedict and the sauce was so good. We also got the French toast breakfast. Both were great. Big portions we are full. Plenty of chorizo and avocado on the Benedict. Coffee was good and came in a nice big mug. The Huevos Rancheros was a luke warm, gloppy mess. The "machaca" tasted much like what I would expect canned dog food to taste like. I asked for over-medium eggs and they came way, way, over hard. A party of two placed a to go order over the phone with Lilliana. She was very helpful and informative. We enjoyed listening to her ask for help. We appreciate the family oriented aspect of business and the coaching. The employees work well together which meant the food would be good. We enjoyed The Breakfast Burrito, French Toast, and link sausage. I wish the French toast was sweeter and the link sausage was bigger.
