We had made a reservation for last night and they tried to give us the table closest to the hostess stand when other tables in much better locations were available. We requested an open four top which they refused only to give it to a couple who arrived about ten minutes later. They had a guitar player who apparently only knew one song. It was way too loud and detracted from the dinner. I wanted one of the five beers they had on tap. There was no list available and the wait staff had very little understanding about beer. For example, if an IPA is hazy, that's a different style from a West Coast IPA. They had two IPAs on tap - both hazy. Why? My wife got the blackened salmon which was very well prepared. The fish was high quality and the portion size was good. The only oddity for her was trying to determine why you had to request gluten free for this dish as noted on the menu. The waiter asked the kitchen. There was no gluten ingredient in the dish. Why do you have to request gluten free? I had the chicken piccata. It was a bland couple of chicken cutlets swimming in a thin milky tasteless sauce. There were a few capers but almost no presence of any lemon on the chicken and none in the pasta which was described as lemony on the menu. The only good ingredient was the pickled small red peppers. Most times I've ordered chicken piccata it comes with a lemon wedge or two. Disappointing experience. read more

Really good pickles and fries! The truffle fries were SO yummy, although I honestly couldn't taste much truffle. The Wagyu burger was good too, but it tasted more like a regular burger to me. The mocktails were decent! I got the prickly pear, which tasted a little artificial and wasn't my favorite, but the Sunrise was good! I loved that they had live music, the ambiance was so fun! They also had football playing, so this would be a great spot to hang out at the bar and watch a game. The outdoor seating was also really nice, especially for enjoying the views! We visited Rascals Modern American Diner !! We had McKenzie as our server. She asked us to leave a review, which I was more than willing to do, but unfortunately the service didn't really match the confidence she seemed to have in it. Throughout the meal, not a single drink at our table was refilled or asked to be refilled once. We spent most of the time with empty drinks, and basic table check-ins were lacking overall. I did jokingly ask the server "What do we get for leaving a review" and I can tell she was taken aback by the question but still came back with my order saying all she could was extra whip cream because she didn't have that kind of reputation. I feel as though this shows her lack of confidence and experience. I don't expect free things, but I do expect attentive service -- especially when asking customers to publicly praise the experience. Hopefully this is taken as constructive criticism because there's definitely room for improvement in attentiveness and customer care. On another note, the pasta was definitely really good. The burger they have two options, pink or no pink we asked for medium rare. It came out pink and what I mean pink I mean pan seared on each side for a couple seconds thrown out a bun and put on the plate and Cook says order done the caramel Brulé I mean if you want some burn Bublé and you like that extra crisp then this is your place I did order the blueberry crumble to go was hoping to get some fresh blueberries but got canned instead, but at the end of the day, I felt like this whole experience was me getting canned so if you're looking to have a shitty experience, some OK food then this is your spot read more

I don't realize it was attached to a hotel and it for sure had hotel prices. $9 for a cup of soup! It had good flavor but didn't have any chicken chunks in it, potato would have been a nice addition. My husband was going to add chicken to his Caesar but they charge $14 for it, yikes! My son's meal Was the best value by far with a double cheeseburger, fries and some fruit. Service was fine. We had heard so much about this popular spot in Sedona, so we were really looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, it ended up being a big disappointment. I will say the service was great--friendly and attentive--but the food just didn't live up to the hype. My family ordered the Penne Pasta Carbonara, and it was incredibly bland. It tasted like the sauce had been watered down, almost as if too much pasta water was left in. The chicken was also burnt, leaving a bitter, charred aftertaste that made it hard to enjoy, so we ended up sending it back. We switched to the Spaghetti Bolognese, but that wasn't much better--again, very bland with little depth of flavor. We also tried the fish tacos, and unfortunately, they followed the same pattern and the tortillas were too burnt for my liking. I ordered the chicken tenders with fries, which were just okay but overcooked--the tenders were too hard and overly crisp. The only highlight of the meal was the Pomegranate Martini cocktail, which was actually fantastic. This was a cute place, we sat in the lounge area, it wasn't too busy we were seated as soon as we walked in. We started off with the ahi tuna nachos, SO GOOD!!! Loved the combination of flavors. Rascal is a popular brunch and diner spot that my friends and I dined at because it is very spacious and catered to large groups. My party of seven were accommodated and we had the most amazing and kind waitress! She was professional, courteous, and saved the experience after one of the girls in the group received an item that was strictly unwanted but still received. As for my entree, I thought the chilaquiles were mediocre. The Verde salsa was the lightest shade of green that I didn't even know it was on the chips! At least they used queso fresco, but the sauce ratio and the bare amount of proteins felt like I was eating plain tortilla chips with two fried eggs. They also laid a bed of uneven cut lettuce, which just threw the presentation of the dish pretty off. It is a classic diner for your breakfast classics and just to get something in the system. They are the best for those $1 mimosas and that's their appeal, but the food is just alright in my opinion! It gets the job done, and that is all we needed to get our day started, my experience at Rascal gets a 3/5 stars. read more

After steaming ourselves to death at the Wilde Resort Spa on property, we gathered the energy to visit the resorts restaurant. Lucky for us, parched and dry, this spot holds a great reputation. We now understand why. I honestly think the waitstaff mistook us for VIPS given the weekends art festival and we weren't complaining. Our service was spectacular, all of our questions were answered, and the food well prepared. Although due for dinner in the following hours, we ordered liberally and tipped generously. Although my only need was water I enjoyed the shishito peppers, a small salad, a mini buttered croissant and two (unexpectedly giant) fish tacos among friends. The standouts- the shishito peppers with accompanying sauces and the fish tacos (best described in visual form)! We visit the Sedona area 1-2x a year, so we'll certainly keep this spot in mind for upcoming trips. With frozen espresso martinis on tap, and a robust menu boasting everything from soup, to seafood, to dessert, it's certainly a spot made to tickle everyone's taste buds. read more

I need to be clear that I'm writing this review having only been there once, and only had the burger. So I don't feel like I can rightly rate the whole experience -- although if I'm judging based on the burger, I'm really five stars. How do you rave so much about a burger, you ask? Cuz it was THAT GOOD. I felt like someone out back was having a barbeque, and the chef popped out, grabbed a burger and set it down in front of me. My friend and I came here for dinner our first night in Sedona. It was close to our hotel. I had made Monday, OpenTable 6:30 reservations for 2. Upon arrival, we were greeted and decided to sit a the bar. For a Monday night the place was moderately filled. The atmosphere was like a funky decorated diner. Our bartender was very nice, friendly and attentive. We started off with cocktails while looking over the menu. To note: our bartender made fantastic Cosmos. My friend and I were not super hungry so we shared appetizers: the Signature Ahi Tuna Nachos, Baja Fish Tacos and Blistered and Charred Shishto Peppers. The portion sizes were great for sharing. All the dishes came out looking great along with tasting good. I would dine here again if I was in the area and next time try the "Diner Dinner Favorites". Atmosphere: casual funky diner. Food: good. This was the worst dining experience I have had this year and that I have had for a while, from service to the food! I had spent the morning with a friend, hiking, and going to the farmers market before she had to head home to Tucson. I thought, what the heck, I'll have dinner here before heading back to Flagstaff. The host was nice and he seated me promptly on the patio, as I requested, so I could see the sunset. They had great heaters, so it wasn't chilly at all. The host provided the menu and then I proceeded to wait for 20 minutes and still have not met my server or received water service! People at the table next-door, grab the hosts attention and alerted him that I have not been taken care of. He said he would have somebody right out. That took 10 more minutes! 30 minutes total to get water service, and some BS excuse from my server James as to why he could not tend to my table quicker. I ordered the Mercer's Meatloaf & Mushroom Gravy. It should've been crumbloaf instead of meatloaf, as I could taste absolutely no meat in it, except for the bacon wrapped around it! It was set on top of a sliced portobello mushroom. It was flavorless, just like the mashed potatoes and the mushroom gravy! The only good thing about the meal were the green beans and carrots! When my server asked me how my meal was I told him I was disappointed with everything except the carrots and green beans and he told me he was happy I liked it. What? That's not what I said! Was he even listening? When my server, James, brought the check, I was ready with my credit card. My phone notified me of the charge, and it took him 8 minutes to come back out with my credit card and receipt. Completely unacceptable! One thing that I was impressed by was the doggie menu and welcomed dogs on the patio. The people who were seated beside me, told me they got better service from their server, but we're unimpressed with their meals as well. I do not understand the reviews for this place. This has been on my to try list for a while, it has since been removed, and I will never return! read more

We stayed at the Wilde resort and spa, which in located within the restaurant of Rascals. Our first morning at the resort, we tried the breakfast which was phenomenal and then later had it for dinner, I had the meatloaf which is displayed on a Portabella mushroom with bacon wrap wrapped around it, it was phenomenal. My husband had the Easter special surf and turf best he's ever had for only $60. We ate at the resturant the last night we were at the hotel he order the burger, two pattys with the perfect bun, he still hasn't stop talking about the burger. Our server was very sweet and when we were there it was totally empty but our server had just mentioned that the big rush had just left. Came here for breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised by the food here. I tried the only healthy option, the yogurt parfait. There were a lot of ripe berries and just the right amount of granola and honey. It came in a frosty glass that kept the whole thing cold. My son had the eggs and toast, on good sourdough. I am so excited to review Rascal, and wish I could give it 6 stars (which means I've been handing out 5 stars too readily). Rascal is a lunch (also breakfast and dinner) cafe located in the Wilde Resort. There was plenty of parking in the resort parking lot when we visited, and West Sedona was much less busy and hectic than Sedona proper. I enjoyed the grilled chicken sandwich, which had avocado, bacon, mozzarella, and pickled banana peppers with a tasteful little red pepper skewered by each toothpick. The included side salad was very fresh and green, and included arugula and dates! The server was prompt and we were lucky to be in a shoulder season, as it was not busy. If we ever visit Sedona again, we will be sure to stop by Rascal again! read more

This one was a bit impromptu as we came for dinner after a "hike" to the Airport Mesa Vortex. Honestly glad we came here because the dinner menu had a bit of everything. I got the bolognese which was good. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes was the highlight here. The fried chicken was super crispy and flavorful and the gravy paired so well with the mashed potatoes. This spot is known more for their breakfast, definitely bookmarking this spot! My husband took our entire family to Sedona for helicopter ride. Before we jumped on the helicopter, we stopped to have breakfast. I originally ordered eggs Benedict. However, when the eggs Benedict came, they were severely overcooked. They were like hard boiled eggs instead of having that luscious runny yolk. I sent them back and got it omelette instead. I had high hopes for the place, but it really was "just okay." One of my daughters enjoyed their pasta, but the rest of us just wasn't impressed. Also, for a resort of this caliber, the restaurant should offer some NON-PORK options for breakfast. They didn't even have sliced turkey as an option. I strongly suggest that they add turkey bacon or turkey/chicken sausage. There wasn't fresh squeezed OJ, either. For the prices, I would just expect a better quality or a healthier variety for "pork" options. We were also sad to see that they didn't offer French Toast for breakfast (only pancakes). Never checked on us once. And we would have ordered more! And a little more water would have been nice. Found this place through help and really loved it. The decor and ambiance is quirky, modern, and retro all at the same time. We sat at the bar and Mack(enzie) was awesome. She recommended we try the hot flaky rolls/croissant things and they were great. I ordered the fried chicken was super juicy and delish. I didn't love the biscuit that came with it. It wasn't bad but tasted like a scone to me. The coleslaw was unique and fresh and the mashed ottos tasted homemade and fresh. My bf ordered the meatloaf and said it's the best he's ever had.
