We are notoriously large orderers, and they nailed every item. Long winded food review to come: I got the Al Pastor burrito, it took me back to LA, with sweet and caramelized meat and little bits of pineapple mixed in. I made sure to add onions and cilantro, and every bite was perfect. Best burrito I've had in Chicago. I also got the chicken enchiladas because I was craving them. Basic, I know, but it definitely satisfied the craving with three large enchiladas.. My girlfriend demolished the three tacos plate consisting of the al pastor, carne asada, and chile relleno. She said they were delicious! I tried the carne aside and it had a great smokey/grilled flavor. The chile relleno taco, was huge! We also got the caldo de res, and it was another whole meal. It is the beef soup, stuffed with meat and veggies, and comes with a side of rice and tortillas. To accompany our meal, the grilled cebollitas and jalapeños were cooked to perfection! I ordered for delivery. Spent over $50 and the delivery person left my food on the floor of my hallway. He did not call or ring my bell. I called the restaurant and the delivery person lied and said he called me numerous times. I told the person on the phone that I would come up there to show her that he never called. I also asked her to ask him, if he can get into the hallway why didn't he ring the bell?! I asked to speak to the manager Gio and called a few times so that they can make this right because I love the food. It was the delivery person being negligent. I am obsessed with Chiles Rellenos. I had no idea how few taco restaurants actually offer it. Chiles Rellenos are made with love. There is a lot of time put in to roasting, stuffing, and gently cooking them so that the batter remains light and fluffy. This is the place to get your Chile fix and it won't break the bank. This place has been extremely disappointing as of late. It's a shame too because they used to be decent. Ordered from here a few weeks ago and the food quality was mediocre at best. The food was kind of cold and just didn't taste fresh. Today I ordered at 5:30 p.m. through Grubhub. Here we are now at 8:00 pm and nada! I tried calling the restaurant multiple times and they never answered. Their GrubHub page now says they're closed. So now I am taco-less and I have to fight to get my money back. Incidentally Grubhub's customer service is terrible as well or really nonexistent since you cannot communicate with anyone there either. The is the best damn Mexican food around! I'm not Mexican, but I've been to Mexico several times and married into an authentic Mexican family. This food is not only authentic, it's AUTHENTIC & AMAZING! CINCO DE MAYO....we ordered too. Took a long time (2.5 hrs) but when we used to go to the restaurant (@ least 1x a week), it was packed! I ordered barbecued pork tostada and it had pineapple inside and it tasted like they had barbecue sauce in there. They said they do not put barbecue sauce in there and they do put pineapple in. It was gross to me and I couldn't eat it and so I had to throw it out. I've had Al Pastor before but never with pineapple in it. If they would just say that they had pineapple chunks I would've ordered something else. It was too late to get my money back. Everything else was decent. This place is solid. Authentic tasting mexican food. I got the steak burrito dinner and a steak taco. The steak is so flavorful and tender! Ingredients were fresh and they gave me plenty of green and red sauce, napkins, and utensils. The rice could have used a little more of something, not sure what. The beans were also good. This might be the best mexican place close to me. The prices are also good. I ordered the steak burrito dinner with extra steak and the steak taco all for about $14. Ordered Lunch with my Girlfriend from this place. The food came quick. We've been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in the area and I think we have found it! I had the Al Pastor taco dinner. Meson Del Taco really proves to be an establishment that doesn't take it's Mexican food too serious. Nor, their service. The traditions of salsas made fresh is headed downhill when it is mixed with tomato sauce from a can. It either profit driven or a Mexican culinary disaster. You think traditional Mexican salsa you should think, "fresh, chopped, blended, molcajete, roasted, non-roasted, peppers, garlic, onions, tomatillos, tomatoes, and/or all the proper ingredients or herbs, etc." that it should have so to add tomato sauce from a can is a fail. Mexican salsa is more worthy than that. Furthermore, the steak fajita plate is "not" broiled/carne asada, as stated on the menu. This is not the same char flavored carne asada that the tacos and burritos consists of. Before an order of steak fajitas were made the server was asked if it was the same broiled steak (carne asada) as the tacos and burritos and she responded, "Yes". Yet, it was not. It was saucy and had an odd taste to them. When told that it tasted odd, the lady seemed slightly bothered but tried to accommodate. She was told to taste it so that benefit of the doubt was given... She instead replaced it with a taco dinner. That's the right thing to do but she ruined it when thanks and appreciation were given and was met with avoidance and silence. Conversation was made to explain that it wasn't what the menu said and tasted odd but that the food overall was good and the change of plate was greatly appreciated... The lady in return seemed disturbed. Hey, people ask questions and read menu descriptions for a reason and that's so the order comes out right. Plus, the meat shouldn't taste like liver. Be mad at yourself but appreciate the customers kindness it's not their fault! This place did have good tacos but it misses the mark on many other areas. They need improvement. Awesome/authentic Mexican food!! Went there for the first time a few weeks ago and was back a few days later. I really liked their tortilla-less burrito with the steak and al pastor meats.... yes! I am not a huge fan of flour tortillas and that would prevent me from ordering a burrito so this option is perfect! (note: its not on the menu but if you ask they will do it) I knew about it from reading other reviews here :D The agua de horchata is a little too sweet for my taste so I prefer the jarrito de mandarina here but give it a shot. The tacos and gorditas are also really good as well as their cheese chile rellenos! I honestly want to stop there every time I drive by and just order tacos! lol Highly recommend it if you are in the area and NEED good Mexican food! This restaurant is definitely a gem. I went here for the first time, and the experience I had, even if it was just for a short while, was great. The restaurant is clean and it is not wide and spacious, but there are enough seats and the interior looks really nice, as does the atmosphere. They have a variety of authentic Mexican foods on their menu. They basically have everything, and the choices are good. The employees are really kind and friendly, and they are also very accommodating. The service is also fast. The food is really very affordable and very reasonable. I just got myself a carne asada burrito with extra cheese for only $10, which is really great and the portion is huge too. Their carne asada may not be the best I ever had, but it is definitely one of the best ones I ever had. It was seriously delicious. The extra cheese also makes it better, but even without the extra cheese, I bet it would still taste as good as it is. I definitely love it.
