The parking lot made access convenient, and the service and ambiance were great. We started with an appetizer of chorizo served with a wedge of fresh lemon. Simple yet unexpectedly delicious! The warm, fresh, complimentary bread they provided was the perfect pairing with the chorizo. For our main course, we all went with the arroz con pollo, which included chicken on the bone and chorizo. First time coming to this location, complimentary bread was served. Ordered Merlot wine, workers were kind and polite. Ordered the chefs special, came with chicken, steak, and shrimp served over gravy alongside yellow rice. I requested the steak to be well-done, the cooks delivered. Waiters came by multiple times to make sure we were well kept. Bathroom is also well cleaned. Good place for birthday celebrations, is able to accommodate a big party. This local establishment has been here for years. The food is always delicious and the prices are always right. I'd definitely recommend stopping in. On my most recent trip I ordered the stuffed lobster, and it was simply delicious. The waiter and bar staff were very attentive, I was never left without a drink. The paella was big portion too. It was a big soupy but the rice was cooked properly and it was well seasoned. Sangria and wine were good and not too expensive. Our waitress was very attentive. This place had a nice Spanish feel with the decor. My husband is from Spain and he loved it. The food was good too. I wish the pulpo was a bit more cooked and seasoned because it tasted chewy and a bit plain. The veal and paella were delicious and the dessert was good too. I really liked the almond cake. I stopped by this place on a hot summer day... I was hungry and thirsty. I sat at the bar and a gentleman served me the coolest Estrella beer I ever had in my life... After satisfying my thirstiness, I ordered a pulpo gallego...and that my friend, is where they got me! I always try a place by the way the octopus is cooked. This place got a star for it. Another for the coolest cervezas Estrella... Let me tell you, the Estrella industry should pay them back for making a very good representaron of their brand name. Anyway, going back to the subject, after visiting the Meson Español in the middle of the "dessert" (summer) that day, and having great service from Ender, I started visiting this place more often. I have never been disappointed with their food, wine, service, and cleanness. Oh! And of course, the parking lot available in front of the restaurant. So one star for the above qualities mentioned. Family favorite spots since I was a little girl. All of the Cubans in my family go here on a regular basis. The filet mignon is delicious and price point is great. Shrimp in garlic sauce and croquetas are always my go to for apps. They have valet parking. Service is always good. Recently was here for my cousins baby shower and they did a great job hosting the event. Sangria kept flowing (and it was strong!), and so much food! So my experience here didn't start very well bc of an "Attire" issue. I wore a tank top and khaki short, and didn't realize their dress code didn't allow for tank tops (so at least wear a tshirt). HOWEVER, they actually have this issue often and have spare shirts to offer guests while they dine-in; so that's how I dined. I ordered the Paella Valenciana and my girlfriend had the Chicken in lemon sauce. Both dishes were very good and I even had another plate and a half worth of leftovers (lunch tomorrow)! I was not a fan of the "Chips" (which are just thin sliced and fried potatoes), but the vegetables in garlic sauce was delicious. I must say, the service was spectacular. Our main server was very personable and informative. The "managers" and bust-boy also helped w the service and kept an eye out for us needing anything. The food is probably more of a 3 of 5, but bc of the service I had to give it a 4. I recommend this restaurant. read more

Went here for the first time after passing this place for many years. Had the Paella with chicken and lobster. They chicken was half a chicken wing with the bone so there was not much chicken in the dish for $30.00. Overall, the place was average and found much better food and portions size at Don Pepe's in Pine Brook, NJ. The worst part I found about this place and would be hesitant to go back until it was corrected was the constant banging of the double kitchen doors when they close. These doors need a soft closing device so you do not hear the banging when the servers pass in and out of the kitchen. Sounds like gun shots when these doors close. I told the staff but they told me it has been that way for years. Could not tune out the constant banging of these doors during my meal. read more

This is a serious staple in the community. I grew up with my dad being a waiter here for a few years and then us turning into permanent patrons. It serves solid Spanish food like paella, seafood, chorizo, and of course some delicious sangria. My favorite are the shrimp in garlic sauce and the seafood paella. Most weekends you will find this place crowded with regulars from the community, or even a baby shower/wedding. The prices are what a regular Spanish restaurant is, so if you are used to cheap meals from other places like the Cuban or Colombian places nearby expect to pay a little more, but the quailty is excellent. Some of the servers here have been working at this place since 1980s and really know their stuff. It has a classy ambiance (but old school) and is great for a date place or just a nice Sunday Lunch. They do offer parking, but it is very limited so be prepared. read more

Moreover, while I have traveled extensively and have had the pleasure and the great fortune of dining in some amazing places, this is still, by far my favorite place. Yes decor should be improved but you do not come here for the architecture. They have, without a doubt the best Spanish food in the US and can easily blend in Madrid or any Spanish city. After asking several questions and confirming the order he even told me the total would $123 and that it would be ready at 5:30! When I showed up the guy behind the counter looked for my order and after a while said I don't think you called the right one. So I showed him on my phone that we did call, after that he said " Oo well when we spoke I didn't think we agreed." Which means he knew exactly who I was and what my order was but never put it in ! My fiancé and I were going to look into having our rehearsal dinner here for our wedding wedding next year, well guess what we will never give this place any business ! They offer vallet parking which is great being that the area is super crowded and parking can be a pain. We were seated right away and were welcomed with bread and butter. We tried the sopa de mariscos as a starter and although the portion was very small the soup was delicious. I ordered the paella that came with chicken sausage seafood and lobster. The sausage was super tasty as well as the lobster which can be hard to pull off for many restaurants! So, Meson is another one of those places that has been around FOREVER, but people tend to forget. It's been the place for many a baby shower, family meal and general celebration. Meson is always consistent, reasonably priced, and delightfully old school. Not only is it a great place to be (service is solid, and the dark wood walls are nostalgic), but the food's as great for takeout as it is in-house. Every time my family wants to have a gathering but wants to avoid the crazy amounts of cooking, I order up a couple of trays of their excellent, traditional and (here's that word again) CONSISTENTLY great paella Valenciana (with lobster, of course). Not only does the paella rock every single time, but they include salad (a simple green salad, but welcomed nonetheless) with a tasty house dressing, bread, and thinly sliced fried potatoes (thicker than a standard chip, but definitely not fry thickness). Deliciousness PLUS value? I'm sold. Just last night, in fact the Mister and I were craving some of their paella. I called in an order (plus an appetizer sized order of mejillones en salsa verde - mussels in green sauce), and was told that we'd be ready to roll in minutes. Sure enough, everything was hot and fresh upon my arrival. There was nothing appetizer-sized about the mussels -- this was literally a huge tray of these bad boys! In fact, the tray was the same size as the tray of paella! The best part? The fact that the mussels, paella, salad, bread and potatoes all cost only $33 bucks and left us with leftovers even after both of us (who, admittedly, were starving pre-meal) were done. SCORE. I'm going to reserve the possible 5th star for a dine-in experience... but for now, a VERY hearty 4 stars to the fine folks at Meson. read more
