As a local who has been to Messenger numerous times since moving here in '04, I'll start by saying this - the food and salad bar at this restaurant are solid, and haven't changed. If you like fresh salad bar with amazing croutons - this is it. But strike 3 just happened, and now I'm out. The problem the last few times is the service. Unless you order a slice or one of the umbrella-sized pizzas - your order gets lost. And objectively saying, with a stream of both takeout and walkin customers... what should take 20 minutes to wait for a small pizza and some slices has turned into 40-45 minutes the last few times ONLY because of us stopping a staff member and inquiring about our order. The minute we answer the question "what did you order?" - sure enough, a small pizza comes out within ~10 minutes. The 'waiters' give out number cards to match up the supposed orders once you prepay (and pre-tip, too = NEVER again) ... but every 4-5 minutes or so, these same staffers walk around asking everyone in sight "did you order slices?" Uhhhh... don't you give the food from order "5" to the people who have the #5 on their table? And my wife's slice didn't come out with all of our others, thus making us wait even longer... It didn't used to be this way - I don't know if there's been a change in the management or something the past several months, as I kept returning hoping there'll be a change. And I'll even acknowledge that service over the past decade or so has gone south as restaurants work on slimmer margins... but a customer shouldn't be ignored (when we brought it to one worker's attention, she just walked away) when we inquire about where the order we paid for is - I'm still thinking that's bad form. I'm a patient person overall, but these last few times at Messenger have been frustrating at best. So if you want the salad bar and a slice - you're golden. But save yourself the frustration of ordering a small pizza - the kitchen just won't get the order. read more

I'm gluten free and this restaurant definitely meets my needs.They have an awesome salad bar and have really good hand-made gluten free crust. I just order to whole GF pizza for me and take the leftovers home. The GF breadsticks are actually probably one of the most affordable GF baked-goods I can call to mind... and tasty. read more

The hidden crown jewel of Nampa. I was not optimistic when i showed up, but was very pleasantly surprised by the genuine service, flavor-packed pizza, and wide variety of fine ales... Showed up 20 minutes before the 3pm special of a HUGE slice of pizza and a pint for $6. Got an excellent recommendation of hoppirilla, GREAT IPA. Asked if there were any pies coming out and luckily there was an artichoke heart, spinach, mushroom, pesto fresh out of the oven. Best $6 i have spent. Just trust me and sit at The Last Super booth. What a cool place to hang out, have a beer, and eat some great pizza! I was here for a couple weeks of work and ate here several times. The folks that work here (who all have some eccentric qualities) were very friendly and genuine. Fabulous. The pizza is amazing and unique. The people are very nice and it was interesting to try a local wine from the tap. Yum so good, love the pizza. This shop is straight out of portlandia but the pizza is great and has a stone fired crust or something. It would be helpful if there was a beer and food pricing list available or more easily visible menu. Their chalk menu is sooo baaaaaad.For price reference, paid about 14 dollars for three slices of pizza and two $1.50 beers. Gave four stars because the price per slice with is absurd. This is a great pizza place! They offer pizza by the slice or in full. The slices are HUGE! There is also a salad bar. Drinks include fountain drinks, specialty root beer, cream soda, and ginger soda. There is a significant selection of craft beers and wine. We tried the Toga Party pizza. We were not disappointed! Rotten experience.... 10/02/2016. Spent $31 dollars here today to have no salad bar, nor most of the condiments. No water, no water cups. Waited an hour for my sandwich to be made. (not even embellishing this.) Plus I had to go up and ask for my sandwich, for water and for more salad. Prices are far to high for this poor of service. Very disappointed in the service here. I love all of their pizza. Its an old style type of pizzaria in the heart of nampa. Its different from other shops in the valley which makes it a lot different from other places.
