On my first visit to metamorphosis, Julie gave me a great haircut for my long curly hair. I'm very satisfied with her service. The rating is based on the rudeness of the staff when I called the next day to report that I had been overcharged. There was a discrepancy between their verbal quote when I made the appointment, based on the length and thickness of my hair, which is what the stylist herself actually charged for the cut, versus what they ended up charging me. Seems like they padded the stylist's price by $10. Pam was rude on the phone when I called to report the error and asked for a refund. She continually talked over me and refused to listen. I asked her politely to take a moment and listen, and she said she didn't have time. "We can't be on the phone discussing this back and forth" she said. Most places would own their mistake in favor of retaining a new client. Metamorphosis clearly doesn't care. This is a personal services organization with low emotional intelligence. I don't do business with disrespectful people, and I will not go back. read more

Zero Stars should be a choice. The owner is condescending, a poor listener and unapologetic for scheduling errors and botched services. After my stylist (who did my color and highlights for the past 15- 20 years) moved over to Metamorphosis, I regretted following him there. Neither the owner nor the hair stylist would take responsibility for the botched application of base and highlights. The salon owner's solution was to charge me for the service again, she would try to squeeze me in to correct "what I didn't like." What??? I called for express pedicure on the day of which I got ... little did I know that I would be upstairs in spa with old chair and no equipment. Kasia had to bring her stuff upstairs and run around looking for remover. Had to shutoff water because it was so loud. Water of course got cold. Definitely not the service I thought I would get. Equipment was old and not sure if it was even sterile...Not a fan of seclusion ... So the owner requested I update this review. Which I am happy to do. My initial review was really the only bad experience I had at Metamorphosis. Each time I have gone since has been very positive. They always do a good job. They have a lovely spa with very friendly professionals. Wish they did dipped nails ... I'd get my nails done there too. I really don't have the time for any other services as they are not opened past 5. I go during my lunch hour. read more

Thanks to my sister in law's gift certificate, I started going to MetaMorphosis for pedicures. Renata is so talented AND personable. I had some painful issues which Renata magically made disappear. She's the poster child for nail technicians. I used to grimace at the thought of a pedicure, now I look forward to my hour "schmoozing" with Renata. Obnoxious-- I have to admit I like to be treated kindly over the phone (especially when I am about to make an appointment and spend $$.) I should start by saying that I adore my mother, and Lord did she teach me how to rock a fleece vest and clogs -- BUT, one thing she did not school me in was anything related to being girlie -- somehow I developed into this silly thing that likes dresses and pedicures -- and so when 10 or so years ago I first suggested we go get get our nails done at Metamorphosis, she rolled her eyes and said something abt feeling awkward having people rub her feet. And then she met Natalie, the most delightful nail technician (? is that the title?) and now almost every time I'm home she tries to get us in there together for a little mother/daughter bonding -- and if SNN is a convert to this frivolity, I assume you, it's glorious. Eva is fantastic at nails as well -- wonderful to chat with, and actually remembers useless details about my life even though I see her 4 times a year. Hands down, the best pedicure I've gotten near my parents' house -- the calf massage and exfoliation is a dream (and lengthy) -- and the selection of colors they have is banginnnn (all Essie). Oh, and while I'm a relative newbie to manicures (lotion on hands = gross), the polish is always well applied and lasts for 7-10 days if I'm being delicate with myself. Oh, it's a clean and classy joint. Mani is $20, a ped is $35 or $40? Worth every penny. Such lovely women, a true "treat yo self moment". Oh, they take CC but tips are cash only. read more

Let me start by saying that I have "problem" hair because of over-processing. It's fine, wavy and too short... and I've never liked it. Ever. Enter Vesna. From my first consult with her, she somehow knew without me having to explain much, what I wanted to do with my hair. Other stylists listened, but they didn't end up doing what I had hoped for. Vesna mastered the color I wanted, and her cut is more than worth the money. I can actually say I am really liking (a HUGE STEP!) my hair after seeing her just a few times. Did she work miracles? No, but hair takes time to grow out and I am definitely on my way to loving my hair -- yes, my arch enemy is becoming a dear friend and so is Vesna. Thank you, Vesna!! Best and CLEANEST salon/spa on the NorthShore. I've tried going to other salons in the past, but none compare. I come here for a variety of services. I naturally have thick, dry, unruly hair. They used a combination of different Kerastase treatments and I finally feel confident wearing my hair down again. In the winter time, when I notice my face getting dull, I get the Hydrafacial. Super gentle, but super effective! It literally sucks everything out from my pores and leaves my skin glowing! Overall, great experience every time. Had my first facial (a lactic chemical peel + hydrating mask) today courtesy of Asta. After a month from hell, I feel refreshed and I think she shaved a few years off of me. They use Skin Ceuticals products and clearly know their stuff. (I was a spa junkie during my days living in the city....) Next time I'm going to try their hydro facial. It'd be great if they added dermaplaning and oxygen facials to the mix. read more

Catherine and Matina are excellent with color and cuts, and the Kerastase products are also excellent, especially the customized conditioning treatments, super for your hair's health and texture. 5 star treatment! it was unreal, the bus dropped me off at 2 and I left at closing time. Unfortunately I went on an empty stomach and I got sick half way through the treatment process. Zero stars for Metamorphosis. I stopped by the salon and booked a manicure/pedicure. I was given a card with my appointment written on it. When I arrived,I was told that my appointment was not on the books! After handing the receptionist my appointment card,she excused herself for a few minutes, I suppose to try to work it out or accommodate me in some way. When she returned, she said she was sorry but she would have the manager call me. They actually let me walk out the door with no resolution to their obvious error. By the way, I still have not heard from the manager. There are lots of choices out there-this is not one I will make again. read more

I love Metamorphoisis! The spa is amazing especially now that they offer Skinceuticals products and medical treatments. The staff as a whole are incredibly knowledgeable and will answer any and all questions you could possibly have. They do wonderful full spa days if you have time for a whole day of pampering but if you're a busy girl on the go you can pop in for some of their "express" services, such as their pedicures and mini facials. Oh!!! And they do handwritten and wrapped gift certificates that make wonderful last minute holiday/birthday/mother's day gifts! She really wants each person to have a relaxing, enjoyable experience and because of her great leadership, each staff member exudes the same professionalism and kindness.
