When asked why they weren't here at the scheduled time, the lead installer said, "I didn't know we were supposed to be here that early." Second day, they showed up on time. When the install was complete, I also paid for function testing. They left before the Doorbell Camera was determined to be working correctly. During the mounting of the device, the lead installer had the faceplate and horizontal canting plate in his hand and asked me if this was the complete mounting hardware. I said yes, and that every doorbell camera mount I have ever seen has some sort of horizontal canting built in. He said, This doesn't have that. Instead of forcing him to show me(He is the supposed expert), I thought it might have been missed during packaging. Come to find out, the second piece in his hand was the canting plate. There were two ways to mount that plate, and he got it wrong, so the camera is focused on the door rather than the path to it. Before the camera was determined to be working properly, he had me sign a job release, and they left. When I went back in my house, there was sheetrock all over the floor where they cut a hole in the wall. It's important to note that he said, That thing is never coming off that wall. It is mounted to custom brickwork. If vandalized, you want the camera to come off rather than damage far more expensive brickwork. The owner graciously offered to have them return. I allowed stupidity in my life once, not going to do it again. The much younger installer did all the attic work; I supplied him with a mask and LED lantern light because he was struggling with the insulation and trying to use a small handheld flashlight and drill at the same time. I gifted the young man the lantern and contacted the company so they would know it was his and not theirs to keep. Beware: the owner can sell ice cubes to Eskimos. As for the hole in the wall, the installer said it was necessary to preserve the doorbell wiring; I am going to have an independent low-voltage tech look to see if that hole was necessary. Why not pull it up and out of the way? We will certainly find out. I may contact VISA. Lastly, they had to borrow tools from me. Really? Experts, they are not. There are more negative facts; I think you have enough to make an informed decision.
