Great breakfast diner. Delicious and reasonably priced with good service. It's right up there on my list of great diners.

Great spot before heading into Disney parks! Staff was so friendly and checked on us often. I got the avocado toast which was a surprisingly bigger portion than expected and my boyfriend got an omelette which he said was good. My wife & I were given a $13 gift certificate during a previous visit because our food wasn't cooked properly. We decided to go back this morning before it expired. We were told it was a 15-20 minute wait. 45 minutes later we were seated at a table. A server approached our table asked me what I wanted to drink & completely ignored my wife. Another server asked if we had been helped. We told her what he'd happened and she called the first server back to our table. She apologized, placed her hand on my shoulder & then placed her hand on my wife's shoulder. She then quoted that she didn't feel well & should have not come to work. IF YOU DON'T FEEL WELL - DON'T TOUCH PEOPLE NOR HANDLE FOOD. Needless to say, we won't be back. read more

Well now we found a favorite today! Gluten free is always hard for us to find, but this place gets ten stars from me if that were possible. I had Big Mikes BLT on gluten free bread and it was flipping awesome. Then the sautéed veg was squash and zucchini!! Yum. Then fruit for dessert and they replaced the pineapple with a banana and blueberries due to allergies. Everything was fresh, crisp, awesome. Service was fantastic. DEFINITELY going to be our go-to spot from here on out when we visit Augusta! read more

We were in Augusta for a concert and needed a quick place to grab breakfast before our trip home. I saw that Diners, Drive In's, and Dives did a special on the Metro Diner so of course we had to check it out. We pulled up and it was packed! We were lucky to grab a seat at the counter and hit to watch the guys cook which was fun. The servers were very nice and friendly. We order a waffle, biscuits and gravy, and the special of hamburger Benedict which was a chorizo patty on a poached egg with hollandaise. I also got their flavored coffee which was amazing! Got food for takeout. It was mediocre at best. When I went in to pick up my food, the diner was packed and not much social distancing was being enforced. They seemed a bit understaffed with being how busy they were. I hope they take better care of their employees with better staffing. read more

We enjoy stopping in here when we are in Augusta Great breakfast options fast and friendly service! Bountiful shredded hashbrowns definitely enough on one plate for 2 to 3 people! Variety of eggs Benedict my only question about the "bennies" offered I did not want meat - And our server & chef were able to not include the meat however it was still the same price?! (Not a big deal to us but might be to others) Maybe have a vegetarian or seafood option for one of your Benedict's ?! Cody is a great server and very sweet ! Love this location almost as much as the one I go to in Florida. The food is always delicious, fall off the fork, stick to your ribs type of food. They have daily specials on both food and drink. I highly recommend the yo halla, in any flavor variety you can get. read more

They say the best meals are in the south not. My pancakes were so thin one side was over hard the other over easy.You also have a server doing take out orders touching cash and cards but also taking food to tables. We ordered mimosas (which were delicious) and I decided on the shrimp and grits-- highly recommended, and my other got the protein breakfast with 4 eggs and 2 meats with sourdough toast and loaded hash browns! I ordered the shrimp and grits. It is a lot to eat. Don't eat it all there. Take the leftovers home and heat them the next day in the microwave. Unreal!!!! I couldn't believe how good it was heated. Mike and his staff have got to have the best jobs in Augusta! Not only are they at one of the better casual eateries, but they've got the most outstanding menu ever. Started out good. Then everything just fell apart. The chicken and waffles with the hot sauce syrup was everything for me. I started craving it. Last time I went the place smelt like burnt grease and I should have left. When my chicken and waffles came out the chicken was so bad, til I had a hard time eating fried chicken from anywhere for a while. That grease messed up my food and everyone else's. This place was really busy on a Saturday morning. There was a 20 minute wait but thankfully they offer ice water and coffee in a waiting area. I'd give them 3 stars at best. Highly overrated. The name has so much clout here that the food can't keep up. I can't imagine how it's hard to make a good waffle when it's your speciality but.. it was. Grits were tasty. Eggs were cold. Biscuit was burnt and when I asked for a new one the new one was guess what? Burnt. Server seemed lost in the sauce. This was my first time at a Metro Diner. The only reason I give it 2 stars is because our waitress Barbara was extremely pleasant and provided great service (as best as she could). The kitchen staff was really behind and we waited at least an hour after we ordered for our food. They initially brought out on dish and everyone else was left waiting. The waitress apologized for this. However this plate had to be sent back because the chicken was way over cooked. (This was the chicken and waffles entree.) Once everyone else received their food everything that was fried was somewhat over cooked because of the "old grease" as the waitress explained. She said they needed to change the grease out and if they did this then it would take a really long time to get it remade. Also the English muffin for the eggs Benedict was extremely hard and tough on the bottom and I could barely cut through it with a regular knife. *if you look at the picture you can see how dark the chicken was and this was with a flash so it lightened it a bit. So just a follow up...the manager of this establishment did reach out and apologized for my experience. He was very accommodating and sent gift certificates to cover our next meal. This will probably be my favorite place to get fried chicken. I tried the chicken and waffles with the syrup and hot sauce mixture. The chicken is so flavorful down to the bone. The waffle was average, I guess I thought that Belgium waffles should taste different than the waffles I get from Waffle House but needless to say it was doable. It was very packed and busy around 12:30 so we had to wait for at least 30 mins before we were seated. Didn't like the wait time but the complementary coffee, lemon water and heated waiting space made the wait time a lil bearable "hence the 4 stars". However the fried chicken worth waiting for. This is one of my and my wife's favorite places to dine in Augusta, with wonderful food, attentive waitstaff, and a lively atmosphere. The only negative you can draw from the Metro diner is how popular it is. I would strongly advise against trying to eat here during peak hours if hungry, as you may have to wait a significant time in order to be seated (Saturday lunch? Oof). Still think about it at least once a day Friends were very pleased with their selections, too! Only complaint is the long wait to get in, which is expected for any Great place in Augusta, and then the long wait to be served. We gathered the waiters work in teams and we got a team leader as our waitress. While extremely sweet, she seemed spread far too thin to provide good customer service. They wait was so long and she barely checked in to refill our drinks. I just had the best Huevos Rancheros I have ever had! And I have had Huevos Rancheros in Mexico and New Mexico. Ive been there three times and always her the same thing lol. After our last visit there, my husband said he wouldn't care to ever go back. He did not enjoy his omelet.
