Me and my fiancé have been here 3 times and have had a great experience every time. Our first time we had dinner. She got the chicken pot pie which was incredible and I got a quesadilla. They were both great. The next two times we got breakfast and it was so good! VERY BIG portions of food. The biscuits and gravy were amazing and their biscuits by themselves are good too! This morning we both got the Bissel Breakfast and it was very good. The hashbrowns were epic, grits served very hot, pancakes were amazing. The grits were a little plain but just add some butter to it and it HITS THE SPOT. The manager is extremely nice and made sure we had everything we needed. We had lunch and were lucky enough to sit right down. They usually have a wait. My wife ordered a Ruben sandwich and it was excellent! Lots of dressing, just the way she likes it! I had Chicken and Waffles. Everything about this meal was awesome. The chicken came out perfectly fried and HOT! The waffles had a yummy strawberry butter atop. Wayyy too much to eat, but my son quickly cleaned up the leftovers when we got home. Our waiter was Tommy and he mad a dip of syrup and hot sauce at tableside. Went here last Sunday around 12:30 and had only about a ten minute wait. Atmosphere was clean and of course diner-like which was great, and they had free coffee outside while you wait which was a good perk. Once we were seated, our waitress was prompt to get us menus and drinks. Husband ordered corned beef with potatoes and poached eggs and I ordered the Breakfast Pie. His food was cooked perfectly, only complaint was that there was barely any potatoes in the meat. My dish was not good at all. It had no flavor and was watery throughout the layers of it. Waitress was very concerned and kind, and the manger took it off our bill. I will try again, but this time to get the pumpkin cheesecake stuffed waffle, which sounded amazing. read more

Anywho wife and I went to this place and their shrimp and grits are amazing. Instead of soggy grits they block grits and deep fry them. So when you cut them open the grits slowly come out. So we went on Sunday and everything was Awesome. Went back today Monday why why why. I guess you should never go to the same place back to back. My daughter yells MOM ROACH!!! I'm freaking terrified of all bugs but especially roaches. So the waitress gets the manager and he tries to kill it twice but it ran under the top of the booth. So at this point I'm ready to go!!! The time it took to get the check the roach decided to play peep a boo. Every time he came out my husband would tell the manager (we're all literally standing in the aisle waiting on the check at this point) the manger tried to kill the roach 4 more times EPIC FAIL!!!! Needless to say roach 4 manager 0. So I ask for the military discount and when the waitress ask the manager for his code he said for what and she advised military. So not that I even wanted a discount but the principal of this situation is that he didn't even offer it, he didn't care nothing about the Roach crawling around like we were in his booth. If he would had at least killed the roach I would have felt better but he couldn't even do that. So we'll NEVER GO BACK and I'm going to tell all my friends to tell their friend!!! I gave it 2 stars because the food was decent. However the service left a lot to be desired. I waiter was very inattentive. He only came to our table 3 times. To take our order, bring our drinks, and to give us our bill. We had to wave him down to ask for napkins for the table. He offered us no refill or checked to see if our food was correct. We asked another waitress for napkins she never brought them even through she just restocked them. I been to Metro Diner in Orlando,FL and Columbus,GA and NEVER had service like this. The other 3 people with me this was their first and last visit to Metro Diner. It's disheartening to sit and watch Other people get excellent service but not you because you look different. I will NEVER recommend this location to anyone, due to this type of mentality. I will also let my family, friends, and business associates not to frequent this location. read more

I've been to Metro Diner a few times and I order something different each time so that I can try a new dish. Each dish I've had was very good; shrimp and grits, steak salad, fish and fries, chicken and waffles. Today I ordered the Buffalo Chicken tender salad. It's a big NO for this one. WAAAYYYY too much buffalo sauce on the salad that permeated the entire dish. I would suggest to them to sprinkle the buffalo sauce on it and not drown it. Went for breakfast! The location was not busy and we sat right down. The service was great, the place was clean and didn't smell sketchy. I ordered the breakfast pie and my husband got the western omelet. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best (no real flavor) and not worth the price we paid. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the hostess. I requested a table for one, to which I was notified would be a ~10min wait. I agreed. She took down my name and number and I proceeded to wait outside. Shortly after I received a text letting me know my table was ready. Upon arriving to the table, the hostess noticed it had yet to be cleaned so she left to grab a rag and proceeded to wipe it down, but unfortunately some hashbrown remained. A server approached immediately, asking if I'd like something to drink. I ordered a cup of coffee. Moments later the coffee arrived and the server took my food order: a simple egg breakfast with turkey sausage. He was polite, made some suggestions that he thought I'd appreciate (and I did) and brought the food out to me in less than ten minutes. He came back to check on me a couple of times and was polite each time. Here is the turning point... I was already drinking my coffee when he approached and asked if I'd wanted anything else to drink like a glass of water (which he may have already been holding in his hand, but I don't recall) and I politely turned it down stating I was "all set with the coffee." Shortly after he walked by, dropped off the check, and never came back. He didn't care to refill my cup of coffee at all, avoided making contact with me, and proceeded to assist both tables on each side of me while completely ignoring me. I thought maybe I was suppose to pay up front so I walked up to the front and asked the hostess, but she explained that I should pay the server. I went back to the table and sat down for another ten minutes to no avail. My server saw me several times as he walked by me, I was clear that I was ready to pay as I held my credit card and check in my hand with my hand placed on the table, yet nothing. Finally I walked back up to the hostess and explained that I had no luck in paying my check (which she was surprised by, asking "he still hasn't helped you?). The hostess was nice enough to go talk to the server and he immediately came over to me. He made no apology and simply asked "so you're wanting to pay your check?" I handed him my credit card along with the check. He comes back and as I reach out my hand to take my card back from him (along with the paid check to sign) he immediately places both on the booth ledge next to us and walks away. I still left a 15% tip because the majority of my visit was pleasant. I'm not sure where I went wrong, if I did, but hopefully he changes his demeanor before karma catches up to him. Update: The service was great. I was met by two of their management members. Kevin was exceptionally attentive. The wait staff was great and knowledgeable, even before she knew the specifics of my visit. The employee Mariah was not on the schedule. I was on a lunch break so I could not eat there. However the food was fresh and delicious. I hope that management doesn't allow that staff member to ruin the brand that Metro Diner has worked so hard to build. -------------------------------------------- Initial Review: I am visiting from the Metro Atlanta area and I am in town working. I yelped places to eat and decided to take a chance on Metro Diner based on the reviews. They were mixed but leaned towards positive reviews. Unfortunately, I never was afforded the chance to eat. The to go order process was tedious and ended in negative commenting. The "greeter" Mariah was less than enthusiastic to accommodate 3 separate orders for a simple Chicken and Waffle plate with added eggs. She was rude and eventually became irate as we decided that her attitude would not be patronized. We cancelled our order immediately in which she replied "Ugh, whatever". Do not patronize. Today I dined in the Inverness location off highway 280. From the very beginning all of the staff were very warm and friendly. I tried several different menu items and EVERYTHING was fresh & delicious! You can't go wrong here with any of their menu items! I feel like I'm being gracious by giving them 3 stars. I really feel like giving them a 2 but I really REALLY like their spinach salad. It's the only thing I order/can Bc I adhere to a specific diet. I always order the salad with no feta and no bacon.. first time no problem... second time they put blue cheese. I called to tell them the issue and they fixed it free of charge! the girl who handed me the new salad said that it comes with both feta AND blue cheese. Well... I always order online to pick up. The online menu says nothing about blue cheese. the third time they forgot the candied pecans... I really don't know how hard it is to make a salad. I try giving them the slack Bc they are ALWAYS busy but it is getting a little annoying. read more

Very disappointed, I had tomato bisque for an appetizer. It was tasty, then had the Pittsburgh pastrami. It wasn't Pastrami, more like shaved deli ham. It was dry and tasteless. To his credit the manager did take it off the check and offered to prepare something else. But after waiting 35 min for a table I was not in a mood to wait anymore. After the waitress delivered the food, we never saw her again. Not one person checked to see if we were ok and we ended up asking a random server for tea and water refills. The job from Hell! I had lunch there today and I have to say the only redeeming quality was one of the cooks and our waitress! The manager who is also a co-owner( bald guy yelling at employees) was an HR nightmare. Any of you that are attorneys out there that are looking for a good lawsuit go sit at the counter when this guy is working .Just listen to the way that he treats his employees and then pass out cards. I could not enjoy my sub par food for his yelling calling them names and verbally putting them down. To be honest I was embarrassed for him and I felt sorry for them. He yelled and berated them the entire time. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak that was fried to a crisp meat on a frozen and then over heated bun. I didn't dare say anything that was bad about the food because the employees that had been so poorly treated in my presence and overly nice yet had nothing good to say about him. It was stated to me that he was allowed to treat the employees that way because he was a co-owner of the restaurant. I don't really care who you are it's not OK to treat people that way! On top of that you need to go so that your customers can come in and eat without listening to your foul nasty mouth while I'm trying to digest my food that you have caused your employees to ruin by asking them to get it now get it now get it now! Happy employees equals good food, bald manager you need to step aside and let someone with real managerial experience take over. I have to say after what I saw today I'm surprised that you have not been sued or attacked by an employee. Your behavior was the worst that I've ever seen in my life. If I do come back in it will be to offer your two employees that were overtly nice through the hell that you put them through a job and walk out with them. Solid lunch. I know we have one of these in Jax but we were with the in laws and they love Metro Diner and so we decided to brave the crowds with them. We were seated fairly quickly for a Saturday and our waitress was amazing from start to finish. I wish I remembered her name! My FIL was devastated to learn the Monte Cristo was off the menu but we were all able to order something delicious. I went with the spinach salad and added chicken which Ioved. It was far better than any diner salad I've ever had. The hubs got the club no cheese and was disappointed that it arrived with cheese. We let a waitress know and three people came to apologize. That went above and beyond. His new club came out perfect and with another order of fries. Overall a great experience and we were given Metro Diner shirts from his parents so we will be sure to plan a return visit to that location or one back home to wear them. read more

We have tried this place two times now and it was just okay. The first time we went I was super excited about the chicken and waffles. When I started eating, I noticed the chicken was a little burnt and tasted as if it was cooked in old oil. When I say that, maybe not old but oil that has been used several several times when it starts having dark flakes in it. I was expecting light brown fried chicken and it was not that at all. It was tough and dry. The second time we went we were seated immediately but we did not have a waiter for about 15-20 minutes. I eventually got up and ask for the manager and I just let him know that we had been sitting there for awhile and no one has greeted us. He brought someone right over and the waiter apologized several times and explained he did not know we were his table. I understand things happen. We still plan on going one last time because this diner has potential. I just think we missed out on those opportunities or the diner was just having some thought days. Went to Metro this morning, our 4th visit, and it is usually ok. This morning was my last visit. The omelette, my meal, was nothing more than a rubber disc with a little cheese in it for color folded over like a taco shell with meat placed in between. The bacon in it was good but the sausage was little links sliced into little round disc, over cooked as well and not very tasty. The toast was very cold and omelette lukewarm. The French dip, my daughters meal, was a little fatty and had a twang taste. The au jus was cool and sooo salty it wasn't edible. The bun should be one that resist moisture better since this is a dipping sandwich because the bun immediately after dipping was so soggy it fell apart. She didn't eat more than two bites. They were very busy today so I sent nothing back. read more
