Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Metro diner. The food was delicious and the customer service was even better. I went with my young son, teenaged niece and nephew on a packed Friday evening. It was about a 15 to 20 minutes wait for a table so we decided to stay in matthews vs riding to the Charlotte location which expressed no wait when I called. I got the chicken dinner which was absolutely delicious. More than possibly expected to eat in one meal. My nephew opted for a bacon croissant with home fried potatoes. With my little one getting chicken tenders with fries. The only person to experience an issue with their meal was my niece. Her burger was incorrect and upon realization the server (Jennifer) apologized and tried correcting the problem. Moments later a man appearing to be in management came over to apologize and explained how they do not work that way. He promptly removed the burger from the bill to our amazement. We didn't ask nor expect for that to happen. Aside from the good being delicious the service will take them far. Treat yourself while in the area. This place is delicious! I usually go for breakfast and love everything I get! I'm sure the other food is good too, but the breakfast is so good you're gonna want to get it all day! My favorite thing to get is the Bissell Breakfast because it has a little bit of everything. I also switch out the pancakes from regular to cinnamon swirl. Today I tried a new flavor they had, Red Velvet. The cinnamon pancakes are hard to beat, but I would definitely order the red velvet again! Check out the photo, it makes my mouth water. We've been here for lunch and it wasn't bad. Yesterday we came for breakfast, it was really bad. I had chicken benedict. The poached eggs were cooked solid. It was like having hard boiled eggs on top of the chicken. The chicken was way overcooked as well. It was completely dried out, inedible. The biscuit underneath was ok, I ate that. My wife has eggs and pancakes. You actually needed a knife to cut the pancakes, they had the consistency of rubber. I'm not sure how you achieve that, but they did. This place is a favorite of families - it is efficient and friendly and good. We came with 4 kids and 7 adults and they took great care of us . Saturday morning brunch and this place was hopping. We sat near the short order and kitchen area which gave me a front row seat to the efficiency of Metro. The eggs were cooked just right, and the waiter gave me a choice of chewy or crispy bacon, nice. The tables were turned pretty quickly, and I didn't ever seeing a group waiting. Back to the short order show, they were constantly taking in order to go, dine in and delivery with very efficient speed. The waitress was young female by name of Alexis, she was so pleasant and accommodating. She had a couple that came in before us and later that told her they were leaving because it was taking too long for their food. She took time to talk with them and approached the cooks to get the couple their food. We were already eating and again we came in after them. As Alexis tried to get what she needed from the cook, the kitchen manager, Andre Perkins was behind the counter there and he spoke so rudely to her. She was pleasant with him to point where she finally said "you are being rude to me" and he told her she could just clock out. Our food was good and she still served us with a smile, even when he insulted her in front of us/customers. We spoke to him directly and told him that he was out of order and a good, well trained manager never insults an employees in front of customers. I have to say how blown away I was by this place's interior! It's very unsuspecting in the exterior but inside it is a pretty cool place! Servers are a lively bunch and super friendly. We were sat right away and were taken care of very well. I had gotten Fried Chicken & Waffle and it was pretty darn good. I also had some of their famous butter too, very delicious and honestly, it surprised me how much I enjoyed it! I had some of that syrup they mix up in front of you too- it was hilarious ! Just got into Charlotte for a convention and we needed food. Our party of four found this spot near our hotel. We were seated right away on a Thursday morning. The waitress was pleasant and gave us our menus and they also had weekly specials posted on a huge blackboard at the back of the restaurant. All of us ordered Chicken and Waffles and I got a side of cheese grits. The meal came with there signature sweet and spicy sauce which we weren't to sure about. We asked for that on the side and she said she would make it at our table. The Fried Chicken and waffles came to the table and it looked and smelled amazing. The waitress proceeded to mix hot sauce with syrup at our table. Honestly, we were giving her the side eye like "what are we going to do with that?". she said it was used as a dipping sauce. Well, I love hot sauce and I love pretty much everything on the carb spectrum(yep, we not gonna even talk about it), so I said I would try it. When I tell you the flavors wrapped themselves around my tongue and it was a most joyous occasion, y'all better believe me. Such a simple thing but who knew. The waffles were fluffy and the strawberry butter was an amazing touch as well. My cheese grits topped as they were the right consistency with butter and salt and pepper. I didn't quite understand the tradition of mixing maple syrup and Louisiana Hot Sauce, as the condiment of choice for their 'famous' fried chicken. -The restaurant ventilation could use some improvement, as your skin and clothes will feel a little greasy post-lunch. -No loyalty rewards program/app. -I would love to see more daily lunch specials. So far, I've visited this Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives' fave twice. Both visits were okay, and we use it as a fail-safe when the wait for Mr. Tokyo is too long. read more

The biscuits were incredibly dry and weird tasting, in addition to the fact that I specified that I wanted my eggs scrambled hard but they came out a little runny. Just Go! So so good - it takes me back to days in NYC. Local diner vibes are the best. Great for breakfast lunch or dinner for home cooked goodness. But I some how always order the Belgian Waffle. The absolute BEST Waffles Ever. I said it - Add the fruit and call it a day. My husband has tried many things on the menu and has enjoyed everything he has had but particularly likes the biscuits and gravy with home fries. Not to even mention the Mimosas and you can choose yo juice. Go Pineapple to kick it up a notch from the regular O.J. I heard great things about the brunch here so I decided to try it. You would probably miss it bc its located in the Walmart shopping center along with many other shops and restaurants. It is located beside the Dollar Tree. We went on a Saturday morning. The wait was twenty mins which wasnt bad for a busy Saturday. The wait was easy. They offer coffee while you wait (it is not free). Parking was easily available in the lot. I would give the service a 3/5. Our waiter was a smart mouth. We had to ask for things like ketchup, napkins and a to go water at least 2xs for each item. We tried waving our hand to him as a reminder but sure enough he forgot what we requested smh. It became annoying and draining. I order the fried chicken benedict breakfast. It included two fried chicken tenders, two porched eggs ontop of a half of belgium waffle and hashbrowns. Outside of the long wait you may be faced with Metro Dinner NEVER fails! Our waitress was amazing. I hate i didn't catch her name all i know is she had beautiful natural hair and she was from Rochester, NY. Her energy was a 10, she was so attentive. As soon as a new person in our party arrived she was immediately back at our table taking their drink order. She made suggestions on some of the new items on the menu and provided a great description of each dish she suggested. 10 out of 10! It seems like whenever i visit Metro i am on a pescatarian diet but this day i ate meat! So I got the Chicken and Waffles which did not disappoint. I mean you get a 1/2 a chicken and each piece was fried perfectly. Whatever they seasoned that chicken with is so tasty. I love when chicken is still flavorful and juicy even when the skin/breading is removed. The waffles were good and sized great and came with strawberry butter on top. They also do a hot sauce syrup mix as a dipping sauce for the chicken. Im not too much of a fan of that and felt like the plain syrup on the waffles and Louisiana hot sauce did the job just fine. Oh and I appreciate that they give you apple juice in a medium glass, not the typical short glass with no refills. All in all, Metro Dinner is yummy. So the server was so sweet and polite and the food was good. Not quite a diner if you can't even get corned beef hash and eggs. Or a glass or tomato juice.
