Oh high the mighty have fallen.... Back in 2019 I wrote a stellar five star review for this restaurant, but after dining there earlier today, I want to offer an apology for anyone who was led astray by my initial review, because my experience earlier today at Another Broken Egg Cafe was without a doubt one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered, and that is saying a lot given the breadth of reviews I have written over the years. Before I continue, I do want to give kudos to the woman at the hostess stand as she was the only ray of light in the midst of complete and utter darkness, disappointment and disrespect that was our experience this afternoon at this establishment. For starters, we waited 8 minutes from the time we were seated until we were even acknowledged by a server. It got to the point where my wife and I had a 10 minute countdown clock going where the alarm would signal it was time for us to get up and walk out. In hindsight, we probably should have set the timer for 9 minutes instead of 10, as then the embarassing display of customer service we experienced would have never happened, but hey hindsight is 20/20 right... Once the server came over, she appeared to us to be absolutely miserable as there was no greeting, no personality, no expression, so again, we should have taken that as a red flag to get up and leave, but we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt, as maybe she was just having a bad day, so no harm no foul. My wife ordered the lobster champagne omelette and I ordered the rum butter pancakes and when the food arrived, I actually had to send my pancakes back, because the server missed the 3 times I mentioned no whipped cream. Instead of apologizing, she felt the need to say "I thought you said "add whipped cream", which made absolutely no sense, because the menu states that whipped cream is included, hence why I said "no whipped cream". Spoiler alert, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, as you will see later in this review... As my wife was eating her omelette, she bite into what she thought at first was a bone, which would have been weird but whatever, but lo and behold, it turned out to be a piece of plastic, like the kind you find on a shirt tag (actual pic attached). She took it out of her mouth and showed it to me, and talk about a gross out moment, as no one should expect to find plastic in their food, as this is not only gross but also a health hazard in so many ways, but wait it gets even better... After bringing the item to the front and eventually getting the manager Jose to engage with me, he proceeded to what could only be described in my humble opinion as subtle victim blaming, as he made it very clear to me that "we have no ingredients that use that type of plastic so there is no way it came out of our kitchen". So Jose, where exactly are you saying it came from then if not from your kitchen, as the lobster omelette came from your kitchen and the plastic was inside of the lobster omelette??? Jose the manager then proceeded to offer the same weak "defense" to my wife instead of offering an apology, as he kept reiterating that there is no way it could have come from their kitchen. It is so unfortunate it today's day and age that personal accountability seems to no longer be a thing, as rather than simply owning something, people such as Jose feel the need to get defensive and explain vs accepting responsibility, as you know that is kinda what leaders such as managers are supposed to do... Needless to say, we weren't paying for the meal with the unordered plastic health hazard included and we won't be going back. This was without a doubt one of it not the worst experience I have had in my many years reviewing restaurants and I am still in utter shock at the complete lack of leadership exhibited by the manager Jose as his tone deaf response to the issue clearly demonstrates a total disregard for the customer that honestly disqualifies him as a manager in my opinion. Unfortunately, negative stars aren't a thing, as Another Broken Egg Cafe would definitely be my first recipient of a negative star rating, which says a lot given all of the horrible restaurants I have reviewed over the years. Another Broken Egg Cafe....more like Another Broken Leadership Cafe...good riddance and welcome to the inaugural -1 star club, you deserve it! read more

It's been awhile since we've had brunch here. Still crowded around noon but that's to be expected on Sunday. Great service beginning to end from Nicole at the bar made all the difference. My nieces ,from out of town, went for breakfast August 3... service was mediocre,. when are food arrived, it was cold, muffin was tough, and as I bit into egg I found a black hair imbedded in the egg!!!! Had breakfast here with my mom. We got the chorizo breakfast burrito and the classic French toast. The salty and sweet combo was perfect. I also recommend an iced coffee if you're in the mood! Downside was sitting outside after the rain with wet tables and it was super crowded. Hard to find also but just keep walking around the other side of the building from the parking lot :) read more

I stopped by to get lunch and use my gift of birthday pancakes. I was seated right away. I wanted the mardi gras omelet, but the server apologized and said they didn't have shrimp. I ordered the traditional day starter with scrambled eggs, country potatoes, the house made sausage patty, the strawberry lemonade spritzer, and my birthday pancakes. I showed the server my email and she said she'd get it later. The portion size was good. I enjoyed the flavor of the sausage. By the time I was halfway finished eating and hadn't received the pancakes yet, I figured I'd just get them to go. When the server came back to the table, I asked if I could get the pancakes to go. She apologized; she hadn't put the order in. When the check came, I was charged for the pancakes. I reminded the server of my email. She asked for the barcode. I scrolled from top to bottom, and there was no barcode. The email specifically stated to "please show this email to your server prior to ordering." The server seemed flustered when I showed her that the email didn't have a barcode. She walked away and eventually came back with the corrected check. This issue with the pancakes took away from what would've been a positive experience. read more

I went there on a whim on my day off. I pre-ordered my food, and it was ready on time! The restaurant seemed to be popular, as there were several individuals waiting outside and inside. I like that they served mocktails, so I ordered one. By the time I made it home, it was watery and tasted like flavored water. The ice to drink was too excessive. I would recommend less ice. My order was missing a component. I thought the side of potatoes was small, over priced, and just ordinary. The rest of the food was good though. I was visiting Charlotte, NC, and decided to have breakfast here. I've eaten at another location in the state where I live, so I'm familiar with ABEC. When I came in, I noticed the atmosphere was typical. I was greeted warmly and immediately seated. My server, "Eloisa F," greeted me and took my food and drink order, which consisted of buttermilk pancakes, eggs, grits, chicken sausage, and orange juice. I enjoyed my food, except for the chicken sausage. I'm not saying it was nasty, but it wasn't for me. The one thing I would say I had an issue with was that Eloisa was always MIA. I had to ask another server for what I needed, and she was nowhere to be found when I was ready to receive the check and leave. Otherwise, she was nice. read more

It seems almost days there's a wait. There is plenty of parking in the shared parking area. They offer beignets as a starter which is a tasty treat especially silly when your hungry. If you are attempting to practice social distancing this is not the place for you. It can get crowded. The service that I experienced from the waitress was pretty good, however this could vary based on your server and a time that you come. The hostess team was basic. The shrimp and grits were OK and didn't sit right on my tummy. The waitress recommended the shrimp and grits. The mimosa was super sweet. The portion size was good and my food arrived warm. Terrible. We ordered to-go brunch and it was awful. I ordered Lemon Blueberry Goat Cheese Pancakes, which comes with eggs and bacon. The bacon was undercooked, the eggs tasted like dirt and the pancakes.... Absolutely awful. See picture for reference. I completely understand to-go food isn't going to be as good as if you were dining in, however, making sure all the ingredients are there and there is actually a lemon flavor, that would've been great. Oh and the goat cheese, not fresh whatsoever, it's the precrumbled cheap stuff you get from the cheapest part of the grocery store. Definitely won't be back here. One thing that makes Another Broken Egg stand out of their ever changing menu. They have new items on rotation and the chefs love exploring flavors. They have a vast drink menu as well I'm case you're nursing a hang over or chasing one. I was here for the first time a few weeks ago. We stopped in on Saturday mid-morning. We were told the wait would be around 45 min but it ended up being more like 25-30 min, which was a pleasant surprise. Our waiter was kind and attentive. I ordered an omelet with shrimp and crawfish (also andouille sausage but I didn't get it in mine) with a tomato hollandaise. I forgot what my friend ordered, but I tasted it and it was good! My best friend wanted to come here for brunch. There was about a 15min wait which wasn't bad. The menu has so many wonderful options, it was hard to choose! I got the madi Gras omelette with grits. Truly OK. Very standard breakfast and lunch menu. Reasonable prices, good service. Pretty sterile, plain, hard interior. I am always chilled, so bring a sweater or jacket. They offer hashbrowns that are not. They are those chunks of fried potato. I do not care for them, at all. Portions are routinely conservative. Omelets are, to me, rather small, same with sides. I have 20yrs in front of house.. the front of house at hostess area..very friendly and accommodating .Service by Haley W.. was excellent! We waited 30 minutes for food.. Food was disappointing.. my husband ordered biscuits and gravy with short stack.. the biscuits were hard as a rock with a tablespoon of gravy. He asked for a side of gravy .. it was Luke warm and tasted like it had been watered down.. pancakes were not done and very bland.. potato's were good.. I had the traditional starter.. with the chicken sausage.. and a side of the blueberry lemon goat cheese pancakes.. again pancakes were not done snd just a few blueberries.. very doughy.. the chicken sausage had been sitting around as they were wrinkled and way over cooked.. we did not complain as it was a Sunday and we had already waited 30. The food took a very long time to arrive and most of our meals were not correct, I could tell our server was overrun trying to compensate for the kitchen's mistakes.
