Our crew ordered: the Western Omelet with a fluffy biscuit and potatoes (with ranch of course), a "side pancake" the size of a small child, average French toast (if I'm being honest), and a southern fried chicken twist on Benedict. I've been to another location in FL and happy to report this place never disappoints. Would recommend the Fried Chicken and Waffle, as that's probably my fav! Honestly, I thought that this chicken pot pie was some of the best I've ever tried. I loved it so much. It came a bit later than my family's food, but that doesn't nock down a star, only because of how good it was. Our server was nice, and the food came out very quickly. Strawberry butter was very good Meatloaf plate- that entire plate was cold. The home fries was old & stale. I had to have them put the entire plate in the microwave. Hello Blake and D, the cook. It has taken me a while to write this review because life happened. I apologize. I wrote a 3 star review and the owner invited my husband and I to try them again. We went in on a random day and had the best meal ever. We both had the pot roast dinner with bloody Mary's. My husband had a side of chicken and I had half of a waffle with the strawberry butter. We were overwhelmed with how delicious everything was. Blake was the host with the most. We were just eating and going umm, ummm, umm! I was more than impressed and will be back for the pot roast again soon. I want to know if I can purchase strawberry butter to use at home. I want to thank the owner for asking us to try them again. Our first visit there and we had Tabatha as are waitress. She was very bubbly and informative about The Metro Diner's Menu. She made us feel like we were her only customers. She was wearing a Georgia Bull Dog Tshirt and we were BAMA and Auburn fans-- so we joked about the upcoming football season with class. I was craving some biscuits and gravy and thought Metro would be just the place. I was happy to see that it came with eggs and potatoes. I ordered it to-go with scrambled eggs and home fries. My partner got the meat lover's omelet with cheese grits. The good: The biscuits were great. They were fluffy, dense, but not gummy. The gravy was a good consistency. The flavor was just right so that the sausage did not overwhelm or make it too spicy. The grits were thick enough that a fork could handle them and were seasoned well. The bad: My home fries were burnt. They also somehow lacked flavor. I gave some to my dogs and even they didn't care for them. My scrambled eggs were one solid mass of overcooked, under-seasoned rubber. I tried mixing a little of the gravy on top but really they were beyond saving. The dogs did enjoy them however. My husband's omelet was stuffed, but it was as though they'd forgotten the cheese. There was a little bit of cheddar in the middle, but the whole thing looked dry. He said it was "ok", but he is far less picky than I. Overall, I'd rate this a 3.5 if I could. I decided to give it a 4 because the experience with the eggs and potatoes might have been better if we had dined in. The lack of seasoning and overcooking could be improved upon. Great spot for breakfast. I was returning home from a business trip in Alabama and decided to check this spot out. I've eaten at a Metro Diner in Augusta, GA... so I was curious if this one (Columbus, GA) was part of the same franchise. I'm pleased to report it is! The service was tip-notch and the food was delicious. I chose the Two Egg Breakfast with sausage patties, grits, and an English muffin. I added Metro Pancakes with blueberries for good measure. The portion sizes were just as I remembered them to be (plentiful). Everything came out hot and fast. I definitely recommend eating here. One of these days I'm going to try the chicken and waffles. Place was recommended to myself and my co worker. Great service even when busy seems to be minimal wait time. I had the biscuits and gravy and was absolutely amazing. Coworker had the steak bowl and he said it was amazing. It does get packed inside but still plenty of room with outside seating available. Eating at this one, the food was good, but we were disappointed in the offerings on the menu. We remember there being a lot more interesting food and options. The food was ok. Tea was good, service was good. Pot Roast: too much gravy compared to potatoes and meat and gravy was too rich. Hamburger: no mustard or mayo provided after requesting all the way. Didn't want cheese but it was on it anyway. Shrimp and grits: had gravy with sausage that comprised most of the bowl. Ratio between gravy and grits was too much gravy and not enough grits. read more

I've been several times in the past, and pre-covid, Metro Diner was reliably decent. Well, evidently, those days are over. I went a few years ago (2021) and a few people in my party wanted biscuits (part of what they were ordering). The response? "We're out of biscuits." (What?!?) Fast forward to last week. Went with a group of 10 or so. Our server brought the orders out one or two at a time, several minutes in between, which was awkward. I kept waiting, waiting, waiting for my food. The last time the server told me mine was "almost ready" I said, "you know what, everyone else is almost done, I don't have time to eat." She nodded with relief and walked away. Instead of offering it on the house, or even just to go, I just sat and waited as everyone else finished and she didn't say another word to me. We were there about another 30 minutes!! Nice job, Metro Diner. Bad experience for all of us, but especially me. I won't be back. read more

Food is bland....! The southwest bowl was watered down. The hash brown was under cooked. Vegetables in the dish were prepared with no seasoning. I was in town for the weekend for a date with an old friend and she booked a reservation on July 17th for her birthday brunch. Things were a little busy and the hostess asked us if we were okay with sitting outside and unfortunately we accepted, it was really hot but that's not the restaurant fault. There were only two servers working outside, and there were two other tables. It took the servers over maybe ten minutes to decide which one of them was gonna serve us. What happened was one of them completely ignored that we had been seated - like he looked in our general direction, shook his head a little and went back to what we were doing, the other server reluctantly took our table, which was very kind of him. I ordered sausage patties, eggs and hashbrowns. The hashbrowns had no flavor to them at all, but the eggs and sausage weren't that bad. I know there's a worker shortage across the board and it may have been a little busy but based off of the neglect one of the servers showed us I wouldn't recommend this place at all - there needs to be some sort of communication from the hostess and servers on who's gonna serve who. read more

We have been here a few times now, the food is generally well made and proportions are large so I always have enough leftovers to take home for later or the next day. However, this seems to not be the cleanest of places to eat, more than once now we have had issues with crusty or dirty silverware or cups, the first time I had coffee here it tasted like it was brewed with soured dirty dish rag water it was horrible. This last time, after a taste of my husband's coffee, I thought ok it must have been a fluke because it tasted like coffee should but low and behold about halfway into my cup I see the filth that has been left, it's as if they just rinse the cups and reuse instead of actually washing If you go I would advise getting any drinks in to-go cups and check your other utensils and such *** the clean spots in these cups (circled on both mine and my husband's) was after I gently rubbed my thumb on the cup to see if it was dirty grime or just a permanent stain... it was grime read more
