Always really enjoyed the food here. It's always been great. I will say that, but the host team really needs to work on giving proper estimations of time. We were told that there was a 30 minute wait, and sat waiting for an hour and a half. Not once did they come back and communicate that there is going to be a change in the wait time or apologize for the inconvenience. By the time we actually got sat, myself and 3 others at the table didn't even have enough time to eat before we had to leave for other obligations. When I spoke with the manager explaining how frustrating this was for a guest, he didn't introduce himself or offer much solution at all, but just stated he would speak with the host staff. Their customer's time was obviously not of any importance to them. I will definitely think twice before planning another meal there. read more

So I'm here on vacation with the bf, brother, and his gf for my birthday get away from Baton Rouge. I always try to eat at local places. So I found this place looking on yelp that was close to the Hilton where were staying at. My God. This place was amazing. I got the chicken and waffles, cheesiest grits, and the coffee. Absolute perfection. Everyone enjoyed their food. And our waitress, Sarah, was the best!! I would for sure recommend this place to everyone who visits and will be back next year when we come back! Everyone here was so friendly and the food was so good! Despite them being busy, we were in and out pretty quickly. Good options to choose from on the menu. Interestingly, out of the 3 of us that ate here, myself and another person felt so sick a couple hours after eating here. This place was quick and efficient. We came on a Sunday morning expecting to wait but saw tabletop service at the bar. I asked if it was first come, first served and was told "yes." Three of us sat at the bar and were greeted right away. The server was friendly and quick. We placed our order and watched the kitchen work. There was between 8-10 ppl in a small kitchen but they made it work. One lady was assigned bacon and biscuit making. One guy was making poached eggs, one guy was making hash browns while another lady was making omelets. There was a guy in a red shirt speaking loud enough for them to all hear what was needed next. He was clearly the kitchen manager/boss. When our food came out it was delicious. The spicy honey chicken biscuit was excellent ! I know only a 2, however, I have been to a Metro Diner in Indiana before and that was for breakfast - which was great. This time, in Daytona, we went for dinner. It was just meh - and may I add - a salty meh at that. We will go back, however, it will be for breakfast as I have a feeling that is where they will shine. Stopped by on a whim during lunch on a Friday. So glad we did. There was a ten minute wait but went by fast because you get to watch the servers. There were just as many employees as diners. I had a mimosas and a metro club with a mile high order of fries. I literally could only eat a quarter of the sandwich. Hubby got a burger that was huge. Food was terrific. Our server was Stephanie and she stayed very attentive. If they continue as good as the first opening week they will do good. The only drawback is they text you when your seat is ready. Went for dinner with a coworker on Tuesday. We wanted something satisfying and good tasting. We were not disappointed. The menu had everything from healthy to "comfort food" and they served breakfast all day. I had a blackened fish wrap and I forget what my coworker had. Both our meals were great and the server was pleasant, friendly and very attentive. We ate out side which was a plus (being northerners). And for both of us it was our first good service experience here in Daytona Beach. I have been here two weeks. This was my first time going to the metro diner, I sat at the bar where you could watch them put together meals behind the counter. I did like that aspect of the place. My server was Jenny, she was nice and attentive. I ordered the pot roast which was very tender but the flavor just wasn't there (kind of bland). A great new chain arriving in our area! There was plenty of seating so no wait time and service is quick so turnover is quick. Our waitress was smart and attentive. We ordered the meatloaf, to check what Guy Fieri was raving about and it did not disappoint. We also had the pot roast which was amazing. Huge portion sizes and everything tasty. My friend and I are from Jacksonville so we tend to frequent those metros. While in Daytona we decided to take a visit to this one. They're open later for dinner (huge plus!) and the entire restaurant is exactly what they say. When you're there you're local. Had a minor issue with my meal but waiter notified manager and immediately apologized and remade my meal. Then proceeded to bring me something to snack on while waiting & for the inconvenience.
