If I could give this place 0 stars, I would 100% do it. This experience was terrible. First, the food took forever to come out. I was waiting for about an hour on waffles and hash browns. Next, they didn't even give us silverware, and when they finally gave it to us it was super dirty and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned. And their solution to this? They handed us a cup of hot water and told us we could use it to clean the silverware. And on top of all of that, the food wasn't even good. Would like to use stronger language to describe the server/hostess (Brittney) but she was not pleasant. The food was awesome (it was Waffle House) but they fumbled with the order for a while and got it wrong. My girlfriend didn't get her coffee and I didn't get my water until we were done with our meal. The server/hostess then insulted me and joked about not giving me my water. The worst Waffle House ever. Stopped on the way back from NJ . All the employees were complaining of not getting there bonus, I know why the aren't. First and last time I go to a Waffle House. I stopped by b/c it's walking distance to the hotel I'm staying at, but I would've been better off driving somewhere else. We first went at 7 when they turned us away bc they said they were too overwhelmed & understaffed & to come back at third shift. We come back at 9, & the new crew still wasn't there. Finally, they come & it took over half an hour just to get a sandwich combo & 2 waffles. The food itself Was meh but I wasn't expecting too much to begin with. This was my first time eating at Waffle House! The waffles were delicious, I had half chocolate chip and half peanut butter chip! The portions were so large that my friend and I each had leftovers! I had stayed at a hotel nearby but didn't have morning breakfast anymore. As I got up late after late dinner party for business night before I wanted hot cooked breakfast as all fast food places were serving lunch food, Yelp comes handy to look for something to eat and hence found Waffle House as advertised and read that they have all day breakfast available along with lunch food. So here I am and ordered two eggs scrambled with buttered biscuits, hash browns for really for $4.75 cooked right in front of you. Ordered vitamins c orange juice one size see photo.. $2.59 so it was great value as place stated getting busy ..I sat right across on counter as tables were all occupied. People came in an stared ordering takeout etc so it took sometime before I got served food but it was really worth it.. waitpersons acted as also cashier order taking for takeout etc.. they have enough parking snd it's huge sign outdoor attracts you to location but it was difficult to navigate to the parking lot which was right there.. closed gas station in front gives feeling that this place might not be open .. I was driving by on 95 and there was a huge slow down. So We took a diversion to kill some time while the traffic did used. It was in the afternoon and the place was quiet. Place was easy to locate. The area around the store wasn't very clean. Neither was the inside. The staff was nice though. I got a blueberry waffle and Ice tea. The place could use some clean up and improvements. read more

While visiting my aunt in Fredericksburg, we decided to stop by The Waffle House. I've heard people talk about Waffle House restaurants and was curious to see what it was like. We have some chicken and waffle restaurants in California so I wanted to have some kind of comparison between the two. There are multiple Waffle House locations throughout Virginia. This particular restaurant is located in the city of Fredericksburg. It's conveniently situated next to a hotel so it's a quick walk for patrons to enjoy a quick breakfast while staying in town. The parking situation can be a bit tricky since a majority of the parking in the back has been taken up by hotel guests. You might find a spot in the front of the lot as patrons leave the restaurant. This location is small and cozy. There's a counter for people who may be dining alone or you can opt to dine at a booth. The menu is straight forward consisting of waffles, eggs, bacon, and so on. The menu is typical of most southern diners, consisting of food that is cooked in butter and oil. That's the best way to add more flavor to your meal! I kept my meal simple! I wanted a waffle and hash browns! The hash browns were buttery in flavor and left a little residue on the plate. That's how you know that these potatoes were freshly cooked, not microwaved. The waffles were crisp, topped with a scoop of butter. I lathered my waffle up with butter and doused it in maple syrup. It was delicious! What I like about Waffle House is that it's a no frills breakfast location that serves good food. Our waitresses name was "Peanut" but I'm convinced that this was her nickname to go with the southern theme. Anyway, Peanut took good care of us while we ate our breakfast. This is a fine establishment to patronize for a sensibly priced meal, breakfast in particular. The only really expensive item on the menu is the deluxe cheeseburger with the hashbrowns. It costs over eleven dollars. Breakfast items are more modestly priced. read more

Waffle House: Jefferson Davis Hwy. Fredericksburg. Saturday was my birthday! And my husband and I tried a couple of new places over the weekend. The Waffle House is unfortunately, where we had my birthday breakfast. I signed up for their rewards and received a free waffle. I ordered my waffle and a coffee and my husband ordered an egg breakfast that typically came with 2 eggs (he requested 3, because we'd be sharing everything, and also asked for cheese). It also came with hash browns, toast and bacon. And he also ordered a side of sausage patties and a coffee. When we got there, the place was super busy and there was only one available table. We went ahead and took a seat after standing there for a moment. Wasn't sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves or if someone was supposed to greet and seat us, but since the latter didn't happen, we took the initiative to take the only availability. Someone came over after a couple of minutes and took our order. We ordered everything all at once. About 10 minutes later, we finally got our coffees, and about 5 or 6 minutes from then, we got our food (at least part of it). First off, there is NO WAY this is 3 eggs. Since we eat eggs nearly every day (and often scrambled, I know what 3 eggs looks like). This may have been 2 small eggs. On top of that, the eggs were cold; not lukewarm, but straight up cold. I didn't have any toast, but my husband noted it was cold as well. The hash browns were fine to me (cold, yes), but cooked fine. My husband said that part of the hash browns seemed overly cooked, and some were undercooked...as if they only cooked one side and called it a day. The waffle... which it is my own fault that I guess I'm not familiar with Waffle House waffles, I was expecting a fluffy Belgian style waffle, came out looking like an Eggo waffle; also cold and not at all fluffy. I forgot to get a pic of the bacon, but it was actually rubbery and undercooked. The sausage didn't make it out until we were done eating...and only because that was the first time we'd seen the waitress again, and I'd mentioned it to her. Unlike the bacon, the sausage patties were burnt. But staying with the theme of the meal...they were also cold. Since she'd grabbed them as soon as I'd mentioned it, it was obvious they'd been sitting there the entire time. The coffee was hot! But tasted like old motor oil...whatever that tastes like. I unfortunately experienced the ladies restroom prior to leaving. I chose to not wash my hands and instead, just use my hand sanitizer, because the sink was more likely dirtier than my hands. It was so incredibly gross; it had so much 'fur' (dust bunnies) collected along the pipes, the mirror was so dirty you couldn't see your own reflection...the entire restroom was plain out nasty. All I kept thinking to myself is, surely not all of these people are here for the first time like me. I mean, some people obviously don't mind eating in filth. And that is my long winded first, and most definitely only impression of our local Waffle House. If there are any health inspectors out there, it definitely warrants a visit. Never again. read more

This, like every other Waffle House I've EVER visited, is slinging up delicious diner style food, in record setting time! We were on our way back up the road from a funeral and needed a bite to fight off some of the heavy traffic on I95 and of course we're very familiar with this particular WH location. Stopped in, grabbed a booth and ordered. We're "All American" type of people so we ordered and in a matter of moments, we were getting our Waffle House fix! I don't know, but something about a semi-greasy, divey, hole in the wall - restaurant makes your food taste extra good! That and the fact I was starving. This place was so bad! It is not the Waffle House I remember from down south. The cleanliness would be 0 stars. The table still had cup rings and some maple syrup on it. We overlooked that & it took the server about 20 minutes to come over. We placed our order & she was very confused despite us ordering directly from the menu with no adjustments. We needed to point everything out to her on the menu. We then waited another 20 minutes for only 2 of our 5 meals to come out. We were given no silverware, so we watched our meals get cold as the rest of our party still weren't given any food. After another maybe 8 minutes we were given dirty silverware. The waitress realized the silverware was dirty, so her solution... not to take the silverware & bring new ones, but to offer us a cup of hot water & napkins to wash it at the table ourselves! The rest of our party's meals arrived, without the ordered sides. The meals were not good. After another 15 minutes, the sides arrived. Have been to this one several times. My favorite is not too far off in Dumfries, but I 95 traffic is a major headache. Hence when in Fredericksburg, I'll go over here. The service is hit or miss. When Anthony Bourdain was alive, it pleased me how much praise, that he had for the Waffle House. This one is average, but it works for my purposes. Coffee is strong. That helps, as do their hash browns scrambled and covered with cheese and onions. The waffles are absolutely delicious. It's a lot of fun watching your food cooked in front of you. True it's nothing fancy, but I admire the concept, and their crispy bacon. If In the area, this is a stop for breakfast, or after a late night out at bars. People watching is fun. read more

The server has a nasty attitude and kept snapping at us stating we should get our food to go cause it will be a while before she cleans the area. honestly five star experience here for a late breakfast. came with the wife and her homies we all demolished our meal (besides her cousin lol). uh i got a philly cheesesteak sandwich combo meal thing with double hash browns and enjoyed every bite. it was busy when we showed up around 2 ish on 2uesday but the staff was still quick to serve us with a smile. would come back in a heartbeat for a waffle. cheers read more

We were heading home from Williamsburg and needed a break. Hubby wanted to stop here partly because of memories from road-trip of long ago. If I had been to a Waffle House it was long again and not something I remembered. We stopped in and took a table near the grill. I had planned to have waffles but the hash browns were recommended by the waitress (& hubby nodded in agreement) so I picked hash browns. I got them with all the toppings except the gravy. First warning, I think the cheese was American (at least based on how the cook separated them). It was not a big deal because it was so buried under the jalapenos and chili I never noticed it. I barely noticed anything but the jalapenos and chili, and that includes the hash browns. Not an adventure I would partake again. Hubby got steak, eggs & hash browns (with ham & cheese). It was a solid OK. Our waitress was nice. Two warnings -- First, the place was freezing! We were both relieved when we exited the building and were hit with the hot and humid air, at least for a little while. Second, hubby used the restroom and when he sat down he gave me a concerned look, moved my drink away from me hand, leaned in and said 'don't use the bathroom'. Usually when I express concerns about something he sights Afghanistan suggested it cannot compare, this time he was the one casting the warning (& taking away my diet coke!). He said there were flies among other things... 2-2.5 I am rounding up to a 3 partly because I am guessing they got a lot of traveling guests and that can create an interesting environment that might be difficult to keep-up, plus our waitress was nice. read more

I'm not a huge fan of breakfast, but my family wanted to give this place a shot. I actually don't mind the atmosphere here, you seat yourself and the waitress will take your order from the kitchen (which is side by side of the dining area). I went basic with the toast and eggs with a side of hashbrowns. The hashbrowns were my favorite because they were just the right amount of crispy. Also, the pricing wasn't that bad either. Good morning, fellow Yelpers! On today - Friday, April 8, 2022, my wife and I stopped in here for a bite to eat on our way home from Arlington, VA. We noticed a large number of cars in the parking lot, customers in chairs and customers standing upon 1st glance. We did not care; we were hungry - sn: semi-dehydrated from the night before, but that's another story. I'm glad we decided to stay because upon entering the facility, an employee was cleaning a booth, and we were immediately seated. I ordered a sweet tea as usual. My wife decided to go with orange juice and water. We both ordered the All-Star Breakfast; Our meals differ slightly: hers had grits instead of hash browns with a regular waffle, my waffle is blueberry and I went with the hashbrowns instead of grits.... Oh! I chose raisin toast. The meal came rather quickly and was just perfect! Kudos to this Waffle House, they got my vote!! If you're ever in the area, stop in I promise you it will be worth it!! This is tasty fast food breakfast served quickly. I switched from my norm and got the pecan waffle, which I enjoyed and will probably be my go-to from now on. I got the steak and eggs as well, and I wasn't surprised to see them take the steak right out of the freezer and slide it on to the griddle. You get exactly what you pay for here, but it was good for a fast food steak. No complaints. When you come here with the right expectations you can properly enjoy your meal. Cigarette bans in restaurants may be great for the health of the nation, but in the case of the Waffle House in Massaponox, Virginia, it's a real bummer. I don't personally smoke, but returning to that diner in its current salubrious state is akin to going to your Aunt Ruth's house for sugarless cookies after her Diabetes diagnosis. Let's therefore reminisce about the Waffle House as if nothing's changed in the last fifteen years right down to the complimentary ash trays abutting the matching black boxes of sugar and sweet and low packets to help round out the flavor of whatever fossilized mess oozes out of the overused jug of maple syrup that sits on the end of the table like a taciturn junky at the end of a seventeen hour bender, the place of course still abuzz with the usual rag-tag crowd of grizzled truckers, exhausted construction workers, and bored security guards looking for salvation under the blaring halogen lights set to a wattage likely be visible from the planet Neptune. Dear Lord, please let the place remain intact. My hands almost trembling now for fear of typing in the name on Yelp only to learn the Waffle House is shut down and unceremoniously replaced by a fuckin' Chick Fil-A or a Motel 6. Dear Lord, let it remain a quarter mile off of exit 76 shimmering in all its nicotine-stained glory and continue to inexplicably stay forever open and providing peaceful refuge to all the tired, midnight derelicts and drunks, or, in the case of our clown car of road trippers, all the depressed college arts majors in dire need of a break from their long and seemingly futile attempt to skip class, pile in a beat-up Buick Lesabre, and find the answer to the mystery of DEATH, the big D, the insurgent party pooper of youth, the killer of grandmas, the snuffer of cocaine head sniffers, the seductress of the downtrodden- all ghostly visions of the recently deceased now affixed in our minds after a few terribly foreboding months of death, suicide, illness and failure until finally my buddy Sam loses his shit completely, pounds on our dorm room door like an eager cop, and tells us he's failing all of his classes, and his grandmother's dying in a Massaponox Nursing Home, and that he's pretty sure he's going to just kill himself rather than go home and tell his parents the news, (this last piece of intel striking a bit too close to home for me, as I had just returned from the wake of a high school classmate laid to rest in a grotesque open-casket Catholic freak show featuring the body of a teenage boy dressed in a turtleneck to hide the ligature burns on the front of his neck) so we decide to just drive- we'd see Sam's dying Granny, but first, we needed to find a cheap hotel and a cheaper breakfast, and without further ado, we pull over to the Waffle House and wait out the moon's seventh inning stretch towards dawn and regroup. To say the Waffle House saved our young and fragile lives at that great hour of hunger and longing is not without the usual literary drips of aggrandizement, but to the nourishment of that wonderful meal, and to the trucker who leaned over from his gentle muttering Theravada over a single mug of coffee, and asks if us "boys were looking for a place to stay for the night," I cannot help but simply don my cap in reverence to all the midnight men and Deep South sufferers that built this place, and fill out the dark edges of the landscape of America, taking mercy on us fool outsiders so out of our elements and lead us by the hand to journey back home. read more

A Southern Institution and a must on our frequent visits. Still the best breakfast dollar for dollar. Same friendly "Where y'all been?" service. Same sticky tables and stickier menus. Same old dude chatting up the waitresses. Same large matronly floor boss calling everyone" Hon." Same orange yolked farm fresh eggs staring back at you from the plate.
