So glad I took my daughter up on the invite for lunch here. Place was packed but the wait was not bad at all. Our server was great, very attentive and told us all about the specials. My daughter got one of the specials the Banana Pudding Pancakes. She said they were delicious. Her roommate got eggs biscuit and hashbrowns and said they were also great. I had the Shrimp and Grits. They were some of the best shrimp and grits I have ever had. I really wanted to try to chicken and waffles but it looked like such a large serving that I will have to save that for another time. Metro diner is an experience. There are several locations and this one is just tucked away in a strip mall in Huntersville. So not quite as exciting as the one downtown, but you're still gonna get good service and good diner food. It's nothing over-the-top, but it does hit the spot. She chose the eggs Benedict with ham and hash browns and I got the turkey dinner plate - came with very good green beans, stuffing l, mashed potato's with gravy and cranberry sauce. We stopped here on our way home from Charlotte. We had seen the positive reviews. We were looking for something conveniently located to the highway and decided to stop in. Located in a shopping complex anchored by a Publix, it is easy to find and parking is sufficient. When we walked in there were quite a few tables seated and even a few people picking up to go orders but no one else was standing waiting to be seated. We were acknowledged by a couple of employees and told they would be with us as soon as possible. As we waited a few minutes it appeared they were not short staffed and everyone appeared to be running around, however it felt like they should have been able to help us and the other people who walked in after us quicker. It felt somewhat disorganized. We were taken to a table and provided menus but it took another several minutes until our server stopped in and took our drink orders. Our server was friendly and we placed our orders. My wife used the restroom and reported it was clean and well stocked. Our food arrived in a timely manner and looked good. My wife ordered the meat lovers omelet with no cheese, homefries and a biscuit. I ordered the breakfast burger with homefries. Our only real complaint was the homefries appeared to be frozen and not freshly grilled like we were hoping for. My wife commented her omelet was stuffed full of meat and tasted fresh. I've been wanting a taste of home lately, so I took my grandson to Metro Diner in Huntersville as a treat. (I'm from Jax FL where the original one is.) They did not disappoint! To quote my precocious grandson, "This is pretty fancy for a diner!" But it was familiar inside and very clean. We were greeted almost instantly and sat immediately. The whole time we were there, it stayed busy but not chaotic. Grandson loved that the waiter treated him like an adult. He ordered the Meats Lovers Omelette with biscuit and cheesy grits. That omelette was filled with meat and very delicious. He loved every bite. He thought the grits were average and I ended up bringing the biscuit home. With so many breakfast choices, it was hard for me to pick one. I ended up choosing the Fried Chicken Benedict. It was cooked just like I remembered their other Benedicts, absolutely perfect. The egg was poached expertly, with solid white and runny yolk. The fried chicken was tender and savory, and the hollandaise sauce was smooth and creamy. The hash brown potatoes were average.
