I really liked this place. Went there with my son and his family. Our service was prompt, and friendly. Prices were good for the amount of food we got. Everyone really enjoyed the taste of everything we ordered. I had the Charleston shrimp and grits. I ate all I could, took the left overs, and there was enough for another meal. Been here a couple of times. BLT Great! Had three egg breakfast this time with hash browns covered with peppers and cheese eggs over easy. Everything was cooked perfectly specially the eggs! Casual atmosphere located in a small strip mall. I will keep coming back a lot of menu items to try. Oh is expensive at $3.99 8oz. Extras on hash browns are .75/each but they aren't stingy with them. We stopped at Metro Diner in South Indianapolis yesterday after my husbands doctor appointment. We received a warm welcome as we entered the restaurant and were promptly seated. The waitress came soon with menus and a pleasant smile! She gave the appearance of being happy with her job and pleased to be our waitress! As we waited for our food we noticed laughter among the staff which was lovely to witness and Not something you see every day! All in all it was a delightful experience as the food was delicious, we were told it is never prepared ahead of time and plenty of it! We will definitely go back! read more

We have visited Metro Diner multiple times so this review is a culmination of those visits. One thing to know is that they always have different specials for food and speciality coffee. We tried one of the breakfast specials at each visit and WOW! The cinnamon roll French toast and Peach Yo Halla were delicious. We always order a savory item and sweet item so we've tried the omelettes and crab cake Benedict. Not surprising -- these items were also delicious. We haven't tried the speciality coffee as neither of us like artificial coffee (the speciality coffee was pumpkin spice) and I prefer black coffee so we've only had the house coffee. The house coffee was great -- nothing to complain about. While we haven't had issues with waiting because we arrive early and are seated immediately, I imagine it can be busy at peak times so they offer coffee and water at the entry way for guests waiting for a table. After our most recent visit, we made a big decision. We will be making Metro Diner our Sunday brunch restaurant -- sorry Lincoln Square! read more

Wife and I finally stopped after passing and mentioning we should stop. I'm glad we did. Even though they were busy, waiting for a table was short. I had the Vortex Burger with the Homemade Potato Chips. The wife Biscuits and Gravy with extra sausage patties. Food was delicious and brought us both back to memories of our past. Thanks also to John for stopping by our table and seeing how we liked our meals. This was our first visit, but will not be our last. Meh, pretty well sums it up. This place reminds me of the old sunshine cafe's. They have a few special items that seem kinda cool until you taste them. Basic everything is basic. Nothing to write home about. I came here about eight times before writing this review. I got the bs n gs about four of those times, so they are pretty good. I got the pot pie but was real similar to b's n g's because it has a biscuit crust. All in all decent mediocre spot for good ol american carbs. read more

We love coming here as a family for breakfast. Really good, laid-back family atmosphere, just what you'd expect for a diner. We've never had anything we didn't like. We've tried many of the specials, and several of the menu staples. The kids love the pancakes, French toast, and crispy hash browns. Had a chance to visit this location for the time yesterday. We were greeted by a hostess who was wearing a mask and there was also a hand sanitizer station by the door. People were spaced out inside the restaurant when we arrived and we were also given the option to eat indoors or on the patio. We chose to eat inside and only waited like 10 mins for a booth. We were adequately spaced out and our server did so wear a mask and gloves the entire time. After we ordered Bob the manager did come to our table to greet us and talk with our children. This is the first time our children have been in a restaurant since March so he did help to make them feel comfortable about the dining experience. Our food came out really quick, our orders were correct ( we're occasionally picky) and the food was really good! My husband and son had waffles with fruit and the fruit was very fresh which was a plus! Thank you Bob and staff! We'll definitely be back! read more

Had the fish and chips. Chips were good, slaw OK, soft drink as expected. But the signature item - "wild caught cod fillets" - was totally devoid of flavor. There was texture, so you know you were eating something. But there was literally zero flavor. I kid you not. No flavor in the fish and no flavor in the breading. I've never experienced this before.
