This is our 3rd or 4th time here. Great food, pleasant atmosphere, Disney level of customer service!!! My wife ordered a meal that she didn't care for. She's very, very picky. I ordered the same meal and loved it. She chose not to eat it. I'm taking it home for tomorrow. Corey, our server, came over, I explained the situation and asked to order my wife another breakfast. We had full intention to pay for the meal we didn't like and the replacement meal. This was our fault, not the restaurant. Rich, the manager, walked by and asked if there was an issue. We explained the situation. He immediately said that he'd remove the first meal from the bill and replace it. He insisted at my protest. This was our fault and nothing of Metro Diner. The replacement meal was awesome. Thanks again for the amazing service, great food, and taking care of us even when the mistake was ours!!! read more

First visit for dinner arriving just before 5PM, we were warmly greeted and quickly seated. Only ordered beer and burgers. Beer selection was a limited (that said, they should drop unfamiliar, craft beers which confuse the offerings). The included sides of soup/salad were beyond expectation. Burgers were very good, but med/rare served medium for both orders. Food comes out quickly. Our server, Katie, and the rest of them don't mess around in this place. $33 for two was a fair deal, and we left satisfied. read more

We have enjoyed the Metro in the past few years but during the covid pandemic we went for takeout and it was horrible. No care at all was put into the preparation of our dinners. They were dry, days old with no sauce at all. Obviously the staff could have cared less with the food going out the door! It went from one of my go to places I bragged about to everyone to I'll think before I ever go back. I must not be the only one as they have a tent out for seating and I've never seen one person eating there during this pandemic. Let me start this review by saying I am not an inpatient person.. I understand things happen, specially in the food industry. But 20+ minutes later, and 4 (not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4) surrounding tables getting drinks and putting in their orders before we finally walked out. The curbside service is terrible. Placed an online order. It said it would be ready in 20. Drove there to pick up the order. Called upon arriving and waited and waited and waited. 20 minutes later, I called a second time. When I told them I had been waiting, they said they weren't aware of my first call. Food was brought out with no apology. I did call the manager and she was apologetic, but don't think I'll be back there. Food was average. Probably didn't help that it was cold. read more

My wife and I are visiting, on our annual trip to my inlaws house in Venice and happened upon this amazing place. The moment we walked in the experience got better and better and it started out excellent! The hostess greeted us with a smile, sat us right away and our server immediately followed. My wife ordered the house, Bloody Mary, that she said was great, which was evident by the record time she finished it... I was not as hungry and had the Avocado Toast with 2 eggs and it was more than enough food for me and so much I couldn't eat it all. My wife had the famous grits plate and she liked it so much she took the few bits of leftovers home so the other, less fortunate that did not get to join us, got a least a small taste. The Pièce De Résistance was the homemade cobbler... If you have nothing else to eat there, make sure you eat this! It was a perfect compliment to an already tasty and fulfilling meal. The GM Rich stopped by and he was one of the most gracious, professional and hilarious restauranteurs that I have ever come into contact with. It is no wonder, once we met him why the staff, food, ambiance and overall experience is one we will not soon forget, nor do we want to. Went to the Venice Metro Diner for the first time today, went for the Veterans Day special. We had our dog with us so we sat outside. We were seated and gave the waitress or drink order. They must have forgotten we were sitting outside in the sun. After 15 minutes of waiting we left. We won't be back. read more

We went back for a third time to order a favorite dish which was chicken pot pie. The waitress advised us that they have changed it a little bit. It was terrible, the chicken filling came from a mix And the crust came from the bakery it was nothing like it used to be. They replaced it with another dish of brisket and gravy which turned out to be very spicy. We will not return three strikes and you're out. The table was sticky and had to be washed the floors are dirty and very slippery. read more

Mezza-mezza as the Italians say - or just plain-ol' meh - we wanted a good and hearty breakfast / brunch for lunch and stopped in on errands . First feel is it feels like a chain , and the saying 'where the locals eat ' - a place has to be in business long enough to be a 'locals ' place before it can make that claim ...sounds good but don't know how true that is - I opted for the crab cake eggs Benedict and was pretty disappointed- the muffin I had a tough time sawing/slicing / dicing through , the cake was somewhat fishy and the sauce was lacking - home fries tasted frozen and really lacked flavor . Ketchup bottle was empty and when I finally got some and added it and hit sauce and salt and pepper they were ... okay. My wife had the San Fran Benedict and also thought it just okay ... I had a local craft beer which was good and well priced and she liked her iced tea . The place is hopping and guess it's more for the lunch/ dinner offerings - we did have order envy when we saw the portions of burgers and sandwiches going by . Also, mostly chicken and meaty things here - not much seafood or veggie offerings . So I'll think of this as a middle of the road kinda place . read more

Since it is the days of quarantine, we wanted to make Easter dinner special! Metro Diner was the only place nearby that advertised ham, and fixings to be picked up on Easter Sunday! I ordered ahead and the lady was delightful and accommodating! There were 7 of us eating at a 6 foot distance from each other, and to be extra safe and cautious, I ordered individually packaged dinners! No problem! She delivered! Each meal had a name on it, and everyone's choices were perfectly packaged! The employees helping distribute our meals on Sunday were polite, and efficient! What a great experience! I can't wait to try eating inside the restaurant when this safe at home order is lifted! read more

Metro Diner is a guaranty place to go and receive amazing breakfast, lunch or dinner. They have a very large menu and serve breakfast and lunch foods all day. They are known for their chicken and waffles that is topped with strawberry butter. If you are thinking about a sandwich then I'd recommend the chicken Parmesan sandwich that's big enough for two meals. The staff is always super nice and attentive. Highly recommended! read more

First time to the diner. Very large portions. I had the fried chicken plate - the mashed potato sizing could have served three people. Very delish. Well cooked veggies. My dad had breakfast. Been coming here since they opened. Always great food and service with reasonable prices. Until 3 weeks ago; they messed up my breakfast order - They apologized. Everyone makes mistakes - no big deal. Then last week; my lunch was wrong. I complained, they fixed it, took it off the bill, and said they were sorry. Today, they messed up my lunch again, remade it on the fly and messed it up again. They took it off the bill and said sorry. BUT, ALL I REALLY WANT IS MY FOOD, the way its ordered and hot and fresh so I can enjoy it with my friends and family that I'm eating with. Many customers have given this restaurant a four or five star review. Unfortunately, I can not. As soon as we walked in the door I knew we made a mistake. We were overwhelmed with noise from customers, loud music and an employee near the open kitchen yelling "RUNNER, RUNNER". I order the veggie omelet and my wife the crab benedict. The omelet and hash browns were bland and tasteless. The wait staff was pleasant and polite, but incompetent. Coffee was delivered without cream, water without straws, toast without butter. The omelet though did come with egg shells. My wife ordered ice coffee. The server told her they do not serve ice coffee but would bring a hot cup of coffee and some ice cubes. A good restaurant would not have made a customer make their own ice coffee at the table but would have put the ice cubes in a glass and poured the coffee from a carafe and brought it to the table. From the reviews this restaurant is obviously a good choice for some. However, over the top noise, inattention to detail and bland food does not make this restaurant the choice for everyone. read more
