I would give ZERO stars if I could.
Let me just fill you in how I came to visit Metro Honda...
I first went through the Costco Auto Program in order to see what kind of deals they give their members. I was looking to purchase a 2013 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L V6 w/ Navi in White Orchid Pearl. The dealership Costco had me go through was Rock Honda (amazing experience...but that's a different story). The sales rep at Rock Honda (Oly Garcia) literally sat me down, showed me the MSRP, Invoice, and Costco discount. Basically, Costco's price was $1500 below Invoice - $29,167.00 plus Tax, License, and Fees. This car had no accessories since Rock Honda sells vehicles stock so as not to add up prices to their vehicles with accessories customers don't even want (added bonus). This gave me a goal with other dealerships to see if they could beat this quote.
I spent the next several weeks talking to dealerships around Southern California, and eventually got more in depth via email with Metro Honda. I decided to check out Metro Honda mainly because they are the closest to me. The sales rep I was emailing was Scott Monteilh. He was very helpful and got back to me relatively quickly with my questions. In response to my quote I received from Rock Honda, he wrote in one of his emails "We actually just implemented a new policy here at Metro Honda. If you have the quote in writing we will match or even beat that quote depending on the situation." I had the quote in writing, and Scott knew about the price of $29,167.00. After a few more emails, it basically came down to that they didn't have the car in White, but they could get it for me in an hour, no charge. Okay I thought...so I went in.
This is where the mess began. I walked in and asked for Scott (as he asked me to do - he said he would be there till 6pm - I arrived at 2:30pm). That's when PJ Bremner (Internet Director) approached me (he was very nice). He said Scott was busy with another customer and he had been updated on everything Scott and I had spoken about (emails printed out and everything). He took my quote/credit union approval/etc. and went to show it to the Manager as I went and test drove a black version of the car I wanted. When I came back, I was approached by ANOTHER sales person who said he would be helping me...I don't remember his name. He told me there is NO WAY Rock Honda will sell the car to me at that price...it must have been a mistake. He then went on to tell me that Rock Honda is going to do a "bait-and-switch" and/or load the vehicle with a mess of accessories I don't want (which I definitely knew wasn't true). I told him that it's fine, I'll just go to Rock or any of the other dealers who said they would match the quote I had. He then started offering lower interest rates but at a price that was over $2,000 what I was quoted - with accessories I didn't want. To make things worse, he told me he would give me this GREAT (sarcasm) price but I had to take the car they had in stock...which was a BLACK CAR....WHAT?? Why would I buy a car in a color I have absolutely no interest in...it's literally on the other side of the color spectrum...
Anyways, after about an hour of talking with this guy, I realized this was all a joke. He SWORE I wouldn't find a better price. Then ANOTHER representative (Freddie Santiago) approached me and was trying to convince me that I was having a "good experience" with them and not to go out and tell others I had a bad one...whatever. And as he was talking to me about this...the one sales rep that I can't remember the name of kept telling him "LOOK, I am giving him THIS price at THIS rate and he's still not going for it...I thought he was going to work with me but I GUESS not..." Freddie Santiago assured me I wouldn't get a better price anywhere else. As I kept telling him no, the sales rep with no name walked away and started helping another couple - didn't even have the decency to shake my hand or say anything. So I walked out, drove to Rock Honda, sat down with Oly Garcia for 15 minutes filling out credit papers, and walked out an hour later with the EXACT car I wanted at the EXACT price he quoted me: $29,167.00 plus TTL.
Overall, Scott and Freddie Santiago were very nice (even though I never met Scott in person), but I felt very, very pressured by that nameless sales rep that kept coming at me with STUPID compromises (a different color at $2,000 over my quote...seriously?). Anyways, I felt scammed. I won't give Metro Honda ANY of my business - not even their service department. Thank God for Rock Honda and Oly Garcia for doing what they promised and standing by their price. Five stars for Rock Honda, ZERO stars for Metro Honda. read more
