Being jet-lagged & exhausted from coming in on a 2am flight the night before, last thing I needed was to loose my house keys on the street especially when my dog was stuck by himself inside. They earned all 5 stars on 3 key points: Timely Response, Pricing, of course Locksmith Service. TIMELY RESPONSE: Panicking and worried for my dog, I immediately looked on yelp and METRO LOCAL LOCKSMITH's top rating instantly caught my eye! You know how it is, the last thing you need at this moment is to pick the wrong locksmith. Well, they picked-up my call right away and when I told him my situation and that my battery was about to die, he guaranteed me that he would have one of his dispatch guys contact me before my battery died. In a minute, I got a call from their locksmith specialist JOHN. He not only made it to my doorstep quicker than I could in the cab, but was waiting at my doorstep ready to get to work. PRICING: From my past experiences as well as hearing of my friend's locksmith dramas, I knew of the average price and their quote was standard pricing. I've been quoted slightly lower, but ended up paying for it in the waiting game and larger billing at the end of job. So JOHN's prompt response and honest demeanor, made the quote acceptable. He even forgot to quote me on the top front plate and said "Since I forgot to include that during my initial quote, the plate is on me". That assured me that this guy is honest and has integrity. LOCKSMITH SERVICE: When I arrived late than than him, he was totally chill and understanding. I originally asked how long it would take to get in, knowing my dog would start parking in a panic from the noise. I was assured it would take about 30 minutes, which was already impressive to me. I've had locksmiths that kept going back and forth from the car and taking hour and half to get in. Amazingly, JOHN was able to remove my bolt shield and drill through my dead bolt lock in 15 minutes and replace the lock in 5 minutes. So clocking finish line at 20 minutes stunned me. Never before had I actually been happy to pay a locksmith, but also give him a $50 tip. How could I not? Locksmith JOHN calmed me down, got me into my house and to my dog in no time and made this crazy day turn out to be not so bad after all. Thanks METRO LOCAL LOCKSMITH. In a nutshell: Ben is the man! Seriously, if you have any type of lock problem (you're locked out of your house, your lock is broken etc.) stop reading this review right now and call Ben at 1-877-LOCKS-20. When I came home tonight I found that my lock had somehow broken itself. I called Ben (it was around 7:45 p.m.) and he was at my place in half an hour. He was really nice and explained exactly how my lock had broken and exactly how he was going to fix it. It took him about 15 minutes to install a new (and much better) lock. My oh my does the universe work in strange ways. Take tonight for example, shall we? I'm a week into my new job and moving to NYC from Boston and out for a scenic, springtime jog along the East End. Tug boats are chugging along, dogs frolicking, people watering their plants, the sun is setting.... and somewhere in the midst of all of this bliss and all of the streets which I had paid no attention to on my way to the East End, I lose my keys. That is right, personality type A little me who jogs with her keys in a ziplock bag LOST everything. It's 8:00 pm. I haven't a clue to call. It's like that moment when you're 6 years old and at the market with your mother and she disappears. And you're lost. You are completely 100% helpless. You barely remember your address. This was that moment for me, at 27 years old, and yes, you can judge me. But onto Metro Locksmith. I had my trusty YELP app (and yes that is a shameless plug because it's amazing and continues to save my life) and came across Metro Locksmith after seeing that they're still open, in fact, they're always open it appears. That master CIA Jason Bourne lock that I had just purchased a week ago (see my other review about 24/7 locksmith) which no one can break into? He says no sweat. He has this. He's been doing this for over 5 years and in fact, it turns out that he owns Metro Locksmith. And so I jog back to my apartment, now a dress size smaller after all of this damn jogging, and twiddle my thumbs wondering if this is just too good to be true. Mind you, patience is not my virtue. As promised, he's arrives with more tools and drills and gadgets than I've seen in my entire life span and gets to work on the locks. Both locks which I have no keys to and of which have iron plates bolted on top of them. IN LESS than an hour we're into my apartment and I have new locks installed. I did not have an experience with this locksmith that I would recommend. The guy showed up relatively on time and was pleasant enough, but he did not give me a price up front - he told me he needed to look at it. Standard NYC hustle- "I'm waiving the $75 fee for coming to your apt!" (but I'm charging you $200 to spend a half hour installing a cylinder that retails for $50 online). "I'm going to give you 2 extra keys for free!" (3 keys come with the lock set). I get really tired of this kind of thing. Long story short, the lock on my door was screwed into wallowed-out holes on the door and it wouldn't stay in place. He screwed it on again using the same holes but angling the screws so they would sort of bite. After he left I could move the lock on the door by hand, and it lasted about 2 weeks before the screws backed out and the lock slipped out of place again. Sloppy workmanship and the added joy of a hustle. I'd recommend trying someone else. read more

Well I was expecting it to be expensive, and it cost over $270 to open my front door, Which I just cannot justify in anyway in my mind. I had contractors doing some work in my apartment and they accidentally flipped a locked which locked the door from the inside and couldn't be opened from the outside. After calling several locksmith companies I received quotes of $250, $150, $100 or the answer of "we have to come and see it to tell you." Finally I called Metro Local. I'm not sure who answered the phone, but I explained the issue and the person on the phone replied something to the effect of, "we pride ourselves on being an honest company, so in that spirit I can help you out...there might be a way for you to get into the apartment without us even coming." He then proceeded to walk me through over the phone how to get in to the apartment. Super kind, no charge, really honest. You have to respect a business that isn't just trying to take advantage of people. I really did not anticipate actually reviewing a locksmith on Yelp. I assumed they'd give me some multi-hour window, show up, have some weird pricing shpiel and then put the lock on. I also assumed I'd have to be late to work. Could a locksmith in NYC really be that great? Apparently, yes. These guys are great! I called them at 8 am after checking out the website. They had a machine on, so I left a message. By 8:03 they'd called me back. By 8:30 there was already a friendly guy named John at my door. He told me what the options were for a new lock, gave me the price for the lock and labor (which was exactly what I saw on their website) and installed my lock in about 15 minutes.
