I came here for a wedding dinner rehearsal and I tried a lot of pizza. I don't know the difference between NJ pizza vs NY pizza but the crust wasn't NY style. Well actually, the crust was similar to the NY dollar slices. The part with cheese and toppings was good though! You can't go wrong with melted cheese and a few pieces of veggies on a thin crust! You don't wanta miss out on this place!!!! Amazing! I ordered 3 pastas al cart to carry out . Lasagna, stuffed shells, and cheese ravioli, it's enough for my husband and I and our 2 teens. It was ready when I got there. The guys working were super cool! It was $23.00 and change, wowzers right?!!! Food was loaded with cheese & good flavored cheese at that!! Sauce is handmade or seems like that!!! It was all delicious!!! Metros never fails to impress me and I've gone for 10/12 years!!!!!!! Jay the owner is a cool cat too (shout out bubby)!!! I wanted to try a local pizza place and I came across this pizza place, so my family and I decided to order take out . We ordered two 16" pizzas. One was all pepperoni with half pineapple and the other pizza was sausage, onion, and mushrooms. We called and ordered for take out. They said it would be about 20 minutes. My husband went and picked it up. It was ready when he got there! The pizzas looked really tasty. There wasn't a lot of sauce on the pizzas. I thought the pizza was okay. It wasn't a bad pizza but it wasn't a pizza that was really good. I enjoyed the pineapple on the pizza. It was sweet and good! We thought it was okay pizza. We do want to come back and try their sandwiches, because they sound very good! read more

If you're in the mood for great thin-crust pizza, look no further. You could go to some other places in town and pay 30 dollars for a bland flavorless pizza, or you could come pay 5.50 for two slices the size of your face. It's good, just greasy enough pizza. The dough has great consistency and flavor, and they put just the right amount of sauce on so you know it's there, but it doesn't overwhelm you. You definitely can't say anything bad about the cheese or toppings either. They've been around for a long time, and I hope they stick around for a lot longer. read more

So, yesterday my wife and I were watching the local news show "Live at five at four" and on their cooking segment, they featured the owner and chef of Metro Pizza. He was preparing stuffed manicotti. He's been on the show a few times, and every time we watch his segments we say "we should try that place." So today (and because we were in the area) we stopped in. All the reviews were true! The pizza is authentic N.Y. style. Huge slices, perfect crust, and top notch flavor. I knew the minute we walked in that it was going to be good. The odor of yeasty dough said it all. And my wife's lasagna was also excellent. It's not a fancy place. But who cares if the food rocks? It was packed, and because we were sitting close to the area where they take your order, I could tell by the conversations that most of the clientele were regulars. And on top of that, the owners wife was really friendly and helpful to say the least. So, if you like italian food, great NY style pizza, and friendly service, then you need to check this place out. My go to pizza place has always been Dazzo's on Gay street as well as Gavino's in West Knoxville (and that won't change, they're both very good) but now my wife and I have a 3rd go to! If you're in the area, be sure to check Metro out. And they also have alcohol. I'd read in a review that they didn't sell beer. Not true! Go there now.. read more

Every time I come to town I have to stop. Pizza is great - baked ziti even better but my favorite is the garlic bread- chef's kiss good!

Awesome NY style thin crust pizza! They offer a lunch special comprised of two slices from their largest cheese pie, with a soda, for (currently) $6.15; toppings are an additional 35 cents each. I love the cheese pizza because the texture of the rich, melty cheese contrasts so well with the perfectly crunchy-chewy crust, but some fine day I'm going to try their famous meatballs and calzone. I never knew about this restaurant, but after reading some awesome reviews about it, I decided to go check it out. Their pizza is amazing! The only other pizza place I like in Maryville is Barley's and honestly I think Metro's is better! The atmosphere of the place is definitely "hole-in-the-wall" but many great food places are. The man who I think is the owner is incredibly nice; the staff are friendly as well. After talking to them, I learned that all the food items here are made fresh. Nothing is frozen! I ordered the white pizza, which was delicious. The only thing I would change next time is to ask for extra garlic topping, because well... garlic is delicious. I think another good addition to the flavor might be fresh basil. Anyway, this is real pizza at this place. You don't find that a lot in these parts. I tried this place out this afternoon, and I was pleasantly surprised! :) I moved here from New Jersey several months ago, and (so far) this is the closest pizza I have found to what I'm used to. The crust is relatively thin and crispy, there's plenty of cheese, and the slices are big enough to fold in half - that's the way we eat it up there. The pepperoni had a slightly *different* taste, but I really enjoyed the pizza overall! My boyfriend also enjoyed the pizza (he's from Philadelphia), except the pepperoni. He also ordered a meatball sub, which he enjoyed. The bread is certainly the best we've found down here. He said the meatballs, cheese, and sauce were great, too. His only complaint (for lack of a nicer-sounding word) was that the sauce was so hot (temperature - we got it fresh from the oven) that he had to wait a while to take a bite, which made the sauce soak through the bread (not at all soggy, though!), rendering the sandwich a bit messy. I can't really hold this against the restaurant... I went ahead and gave it 5 stars because the service was great, the price was comparable to what we're used to, and (overall) the food was great! We will definitely be returning to try other items on the menu. Tip: If you want something that's not listed on the menu, just ask. The staff seems certainly willing to accommodate and will come up with a fair price! read more

The best place I've found the Maryville area for pizza, they don't scrimp on the toppings, and the prices are very competitive. This is a great little place that every little town would be proud to have. The pizza is origanal and made with pride. The only complant is that they slightly under cook it. It maybe a regional variant because I've found that hillbillies don't like to chew due their lack of teeth. Just try to get toast in knoxville, i'ts just warm bread. But Metro is a shining star here in east tennessee,it's our "go to place". I recommend the steak delux sub, just perfect! Hands down the best pizza place in all of Maryville! They have real New York style pizza. Coming from Nee York I'd say it's the closest you can get here in the south. While the price may be a bit expensive in my opinion it is surely worth it. I also highly recommend their cannolis. Absolutely delicious. read more

Went for lunch on my lunch break, ordered within 3 mins of walking in the door. I ordered a venison pamigiana sandwich because it sounded good and I thought I could get it faster than other menu items. I was right about the sandwich being good but wrong about the timing. I spent my half hour lunch break drinking tea and waiting for my sandwich before leaving empty handed late for work. I watched from my table as my ticket was ignored and larger orders and orders of people that were made after mine where pushed ahead. Some of the people after me seemed to greet and know the owner/manager of the place, it could have had a bearing, I'm not sure. I finished my shift on an empty stomach and went back to get my sandwich after work since I had already paid for it. It was a good sandwich, just not 3 and a half hours later good. read more

The only things I miss from the New York City area are the dinners and the pizza. Metro takes care of the pizza part of that. This is as close to NY pizza as I have found anywhere in the area (Knoxville included). Stopped in one night got a large cheese pie and baked ziti. Pizza is the best in Maryville/Alcoa area. Didn't care too much for ziti, it had too much water, probably didn't drain the noodles well enough, good flavor otherwise. Garlic bread was too plain, don't know if there was even garlic. This is definitely the best pizza I've ever had. Also, they have this salad, there, that has this dressing (apparently they make the dressing from scratch)...anyway, the salad is phenomenal. Coming from New York to here was a bit of a culture shock. But, this pizza tastes straight from home. Actually, it's up there with what I used to get at the higher ranked places.
