Golfing is always fun and this spot is both good and bad. The tee box for most of the course is horrible but the fairways are great and well maintained. The greens are decent and it's overall a fun course. Another oddity is trying to find each hole. I say that because there aren't many signs and in some holes it's not obvious which hole is next. The price is very affordable and as they say you get what you pay for. The course clearly had its faults but the difficulty is at a nice level and again the fairways play nicely and are very well maintained. Conditions- 4/10. I'll start with the tee boxes. They were not the best most were patchy and not level at all. The fairways were the same, but were in a little better shape. Your usual patchy areas here and there. The greens were one of the worst greens i've seen in awhile. Crabgrass was everywhere and felt like my golf ball was skiing on moguls. The bunkers is what gave it mostly a 4/10 very soft sand and well kept. Views- 5/10. The views were nothing crazy either. Right in the middle of Metrowest so you will see your typical houses and roads with cars on them. Difficulty- 7/10. I played from the blue tees. Im a 18 handicap and boy they had some long holes. I did have a good front 9 but an okay back 9. I did enjoy the difficulty and respect the yardage of this course. Hospitality- 7/10. They had bag guys at the front taking care of loading and unloading your clubs and cleaning them at the end. The front desk guy was alright. The started was helpful for being my first time there. They did have a cart girl going around so that's always a plus as well, especially when it's hot outside. Value- 4/10. This course definitely has potential. The value can be there if they just took care of everything. Practice facilities- 3/10. They did have you hitting off the grass but it was not really grass it was more dirt and sand. I was scared because if the practice range is a preview of what the course would be.... not good. The practice greens were the best out of all the holes on the course. Location- 6/10. It was my first time in the area. It seemed to have stuff around the course for after your round to eat and stuff. But I just wanted to head out after. Design- 5/10. It was your standard florida design course. It has your water holes and some elevated tee boxes and going through neighborhoods. I don't know if they had a "signature hole" but if I had to pick one it be hole 9 were it wraps around the water. Atmosphere- 6/10. I played with one other guy and he was nice and chill. The pace of play was average. I never really had to wait on people in front of me, so not bad. Food- N/A. I got a water and I like the logo design but I was not hungry for food. read more

Played Friday and unfortunately left my range finder on the golf cart. Tried to reach the golf shop for 3 days after and never got through. I finally get through and they say the range finder is there. Great, I'd assume my range finder would make its way to the lost and found a that it wasn't stolen. Once I receive the range finder I notice it's no longer working. Come to find out the batter had been removed from the range finder. Why are we stealing batteries from guests range finders. The golf director said once I brought it up to him "I don't know what you want me to do, you got your range finder back". Where is the integrity, why are we okay with employees stealing from guests? Unacceptable and will not be returning to this course. read more

I got a hot deal that they put online and when I got here there was no one at check-in so I got my cart and I played here 25 times they're redoing the course switch nine holes around but the guy that's in charge now has really been a jerk and makes you walk all the way down with your golf clubs and everything and pair you up with someone else when the whole golf course is empty. I just want to share my experience at Metro West so others can be aware of what can potentially happen to you out there. My friend and I were putting from the fringe on hole 6 when all of sudden we got blasted by a high pressure sprinkler from 3 feet behind me aimed directly at the green. In a span of a second, my pants, socks, and shoes were completely soaked while my friend got his pants wet from the ricochet. My glove was ruined from getting wet as well. While I was frustrated at what just happened, I've played courses that have the sprinklers come on (just never while you're on the green of a hole) so I figured I'd call the clubhouse so I could find out what was going on and get them to turn them off. However no one answered the phone so we were forced to abandon finishing the hole. Since it was a cold day for Florida's standards and everything was soaked, we knew it would be miserable to try and keep playing on the day. We returned to the clubhouse to ask for a refund of the round but Alex from the pro shop could not have been more unprofessional. Not only was he unsympathetic to what just happened on the course, he would not give us a refund saying he could only give a rain check for 9 holes that we could come back and use another time. I asked him why I would come back at a later time if there was a possibility of getting drenched by the sprinklers and he said "it is what it is, we have a faulty irrigation system." I asked him if he felt that was something he should disclose to players paying to play the course and he said no because the odds of it happening were so low. When I pointed out that it did happen to me, he still refused to take any accountability of it happening. Even after all the back and forth, the best he would do for us was a 9 hole rain check at a later date so we told him we don't want it because we'll never be back again. Their customer service of the situation was beyond atrocious. I will never come back to this place thanks to the unprofessionalism of Alex. I just want to warn other players of my experience and tell you to go spend your money at another place that will do right by you when they are in the wrong. I would give them a 0 star rating if I could. read more

Golf course has been open throughout our pandemic. The staff has been great, you can take out individual carts for your group or choose to ride together (you're choice); I'm sure subject to availability. Hasn't been busy at all but definitely people on the course. Beverage cart has even been out there. Worried? Bring your own disinfecting items, that's what I did. Been out twice since our local limits have been in affect. Course wise, this is a perfect mid-level course. Price is perfect for the course and availability. Birthday Black Tie Gala: I booked this venue last minute due to unforeseen circumstances with the original venue. Honestly speaking I wish I could give them more than 5 stars! From start to finish, MetroWest Golf Club made my day extremely special. This venue is a diamond in the rough!! Most people have left reviews for just golfing or weddings. But let me be the first to tell you, it's SO MUCH MORE than that. The staff there are absolutely amazing, especially Andrea!!! Based on other reviews and seeing the set up of venue in person I was uncertain if the space could be transformed to match my "Gala Themed" event. But I met with Andrea and she insured me to trust the process and we can most definitely bring the vision to life. Extremely glad I chose this venue!! Andrea was very prompt, knowledgeable and beyond helpful. She always communicated any changes and gave ideas that would best fit my event. Andrea also worked hand in hand with our decor coordinator and treated the decor team as a client vs a vendor. Which was very kind and thoughtful. I chose the open bar option for our event and the hired bartenders (supplied by the venue) were phenomenal! They made sure all guest were served in a timely manor and no glasses were left empty. They smiled all night long and made sure the guest were pleased. The day of the event Florida's weather acted out per usual and it rained like cats & dogs. But Andrea again, went above & beyond to block off a special area in the venue for last minute hair, make up & gown dressing. Which we loved, my mom and myself was able to get ready and remain dry. To be honest the night started and ended perfectly, I am beyond happy with my experience. If you are looking for a venue in the Orlando FL area, this is it. I was a bit reluctant to play here because of some of the negative reviews, but I'm glad I did! The course was in terrific shape for the price. Sure, there were a few rough patches on the tee boxes and fairways, but overall I was extremely satisfied. The course is very open and flat. Perfect for a high handicap golfer like myself! Greens are small with little undulation. Club rentals were Callaway Rogue irons and Epic Flash woods for $25, which includes two sleeves of Callaway balls. They are upgrading to Mavrik sets so rental price might be more in the future. There was a random top flite PW and a womens flex 5 iron so make sure to check your set if you're particular. The gal at the clubhouse bar (with a NY accent) was so nice and helpful! The only other caveat I'd mention is there's no signs on the holes, but they said they are getting them soon. The course is ok, not great condition, lots of weeds, dirt and sand patches everywhere, most of the greens had weeds growing on them. Will never going back after today. One of the par three holes had a guy asking for donations for veterans and if you hit the ball on the green from the tee box then you win $100 gift card to the pro shop. So we each have $30 donation and my buddy hit the green while I hit mine just off. Then the guy refused to give him the gift card saying we both didn't hit the green ... which was never stated or made any sense. But instead of making a scene and arguing with the guy we later talked to the course manager and told him what happened. Apparently they have been having trouble with these people paying up when the lose on the donation bets. And the manager got back one star for this rating because he seemed genuinely concerned and gave us a free beer and said he was going to talk with the guy. But there has been no follow up. You should not let people like this on your golf course if you are not going to support what they are doing. Hopefully the money goes to a good cause but sadly I will never donate to this kind of thing again or go back to this course because of this kind of stuff. Turned a nice golf day into a poorly handled bitter experience towards this course. There are much better places to play for the money. read more

Terrible customer service. They closed the restaurant early. The golf people look at you like they are better than you. There is minimal service. It's better to park in the apartments nearby and walk on. Carts broke down the two days I went. Customer service was so bad that I would have given them a 4 but if you've been lots of places... try somewhere else. They need more work. The greens are patchy but run at 8 or 9. If you need a rain check they will charge you 10 bucks to come back. read more

This is a links style golf course with fairly open fairways. The fairways are patchy with a fair amount of hard pan, however, the backside fairways are in somewhat better condition. It appears to greens have all been completely relaid recently with new sod and they are extremely fast but inconsistent which should improve as these mature. There is an abundant amount of bunkers which are in good condition. The tee boxes are definitely in need of improvement. The clubhouse, pro shop and bar are very nice. The course is a good value and I would recommend it. read more

Came here on a Sunday for the Metrowest Jazz Fest with my aunt. We arrived about 6-6:30. Parking was a challenge; it could've been coordinated better. It was a beautiful day out and perfect for jazz, wine and chilling out. There were many informational booths set up. The seating was actually on the golf course! Can you believe that?! I'm a jazz lover; what can I say ; I thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment. Hopefully, there will be more future jazz events. Especially with WLOQ off the air. I miss that smooth jazz on the radio. Had a ranger tell me i could go ahead and play in front of the painfully slow two groups ahead of me since noone was ahead of them. 3 holes later the group almost nails me in the back of the head with a ball. They said the ranger told them he has no idea why i played ahead so they continued to try and hit into me. Not only do the people suck here... I played yesterday and I must say the course was in horrendous shape overall. Maybe 2-3 holes had decent tee boxes and greens but that's it. Weeds 7-8 inches all round the tops of the bunkers. I will not play here again. $35/round is a joke. It should be $10/round. I only took one picture but basically it sums up the entire course. read more

Recently played this track on a Saturday morning, and while I did not pay near the $80.00 spend by Drew S., I believe his thorough review of the course is spot on. MetroWest Gold Club is some 15-20 minutes west of downtown orlando, easily accessed by traveling west on the 408 to South Hiawassee Road. The clubhouse itself is large, but a very odd layout requiring you to travel through the small restaurant/bar area, down a maze of hallways and up several stairs to find the proshop. Staff was friendly throughout my interactions. There is a small driving range and nice putting green area adjacent to the first tee. The course itself was in great shape when I played in late April 2015. There are many elevation changes throughout the course. Most of the holes were straightforward and boring. The greens were somewhat hard, but rolled nicely. Pace of play for a saturday morning was fair. My biggest complaint would be the lack of any memorable holes throughout the track, with #9 being the only really interesting hole. Overall, MetroWest Golf Club is a nice track just outside downtown Orlando. While this course is maintained in great condition, it lacks any character or uniqueness to its layout and not deserving of a $50+ green fee in my opinion. read more

Played a couple days ago, my first time there. As others have mentioned, a $1.5 million renovation on greens and bunkers was recently completed. The bunkers were in phenomenal shape, some of the fluffiest sand that I've ever seen. Greens were in good condition, quite hard/firm, ballmarks were rare. Strangely, there was no fringe on the greens, and that made for some annoyances when your ball was on the green, nestled against the fringe. Paid $79 as a resident on a packed Sunday morning, cart included, no range balls or lunch or anything else included. Decent elevation change for a Florida course. Employees were friendly, there was a marshall driving around, always nice to have on a busy day. The pro shop was pretty barren, especially when it came to clubs. Very few demo clubs available (a nice perk at many other courses). There are little things that they could do to go out of their way to make the round more 'luxurious': tees in the cart, free yardage book, nicer "hole plaques" on each hole, etc. The locker room was pretty sparse, towels were old, no nice products to use post-round (no shaving cream, deodorant, razors, shampoo in my shower, etc.). Many of the pins were on small portions of the green. This course has very generous landing areas off the tee, but is reasonably difficult around the greens. My biggest disappointment with this course was simply the near-total lack of memorable holes. The only one that really sticks out is #9, a 90-degree-dogleg left par4, where you have to decide if you want to try to fly the water off the tee to give yourself an easy 2nd shot, although the hole can be played easily but hitting a mid-iron off the tee and for your approach. But nearly every hole wound through a neighborhood. Boring. I simply found the course and the experience to be boring and unmemorable. When I'm paying $79 in Central Florida, I expect something more, especially since that was my only round of golf. I could have played at Orange County National for four dollars less, and that course is infinitely more memorable and better; no houses in sight, just picturesque golf. MetroWest is perfectly adequate as a neighborhood course, or if you care more about your game itself, and don't really care about the environment. I would certainly be open to return if someone else was paying, or if they had a steeply discounted rate. But in my opinion, it is simply not a place to go for a memorable experience. read more

I've been playing Metrowest for the better part of 12 years. Today was the worst shape I've ever seen it in. It used to host US Open Qualifiers and major Jr Championships and it has gone severely down hill. All the Tee boxes are in rough shape, they don't trim at all around the bunkers (lots of weed growth), the fairways are sandy, and the greens maybe rolled at a 7 today. Cart service was spotty at best, food was cold. It looks to be really struggling with the rains the past month but there just seems to be no effort to combat the rains. I used to love this course, it used to be an absolute joy to play. With my experience today, I'm not sure I'll ever go back. read more

Poor condition. Fairways slow and ruff. Don't miss the fairway, you'll never find the ball. Tee boxes are so bad, you have to walk around to find a flat place to tee off. No sand in any traps.... wow Bring your own GPS or you will have to drive around to find markers. Mostly a nothing course.... took down a lot of trees from a storm and never replaced them. Greens were good but problems with the old cups... you will have to move the ball so as to have a putt a the hole. Sad to see how bad they let this course get to be.
