Carne asada burrito with added rice and beans
    Gen Y.

Never again. First and last time. This is their carne asada burrito, but looked more like a taco. Have never had a smaller burrito in my life where it was more tortilla than anything. The salsa was also not very authentic. Horrible!

Mexicali has the best Cadillac margaritas in town! But beware, they definitely sneak up on you! My favorite spot is the bar tucked in the corner, since this used to be our go-to stop before concerts or a little pre-gaming fun. I love the dim lights that set the perfect mood. Our host took amazing care of us! The drinks were refilled before they even hit the bottom! And while the food isn't usually my cup of tea, after a couple margaritas those fried taquitos really hit the spot!

16.95 2 item combo cheese, enchilada, and a beef taco Lunch Special 5/2026
    Franchesca A.

We came to lunch at 11am, the special of the day for lunch was 2 item combo of cheese enchilada & beef taco for 16.95. Server was kind and friendly greeted with chips n salsa and waters to start . The place picked up by noon all tables were moving quickly. And our food came out on hot plates! My favorite is a server warning me to watch out my plate is extremely hot!

Food was decent, i got the taquitos and they tasted pretty good when mixed with the guacamole or beans, the filling could use a little more seasoning and alone the taquitos would probably be very bland. Drinks here are always good as well. I did come here with a large party both times I've been here. the first time they were quick and very attentive to our group, the second time however... we were trying to celebrate birthdays and an engagement but they sat my party of 10 at two separate areas where we couldn't even talk to the entire group. the service was also noticeably slower this time around. The vibe in the restaurant is nice and for birthdays they let the birthday celebrant wear a sombrero if they would like and the staff joins in on singing happy birthday.

Review for the bar. Small and every one knows each other. Drinks are strong. Service is great. I meet a friend every couple of months here. Parking can be hard but we end up spending time and we never feel rushed.

When we think of Mexican food, we ALWAYS think of Mexicali first! Not just because of the GREAT food, excellent Best in Bakersfield Margaritas, but because it's been family owned since about 1942 I think, and the current owner Irene, is proudly carrying the torch and doing a great job of it. And the bar stuff of Tino, Jorge and Chulio, who was our server tonite, are so attentive and gracious and are like family! This place is a historic destination point and so important to so many people in this city. We love it, if you've never been there you need to try it and you won't be disappointed. It would recommend it on a Saturday or Sunday. We typically eat in the bar, at the bar and those three are a wonderful representation of the family and the brand! I cannot give a higher recommendation for this place, and the family that Irene has built with this crew! God bless and continued success for this wonderful restaurant!

    Decorated nicely for the holidays!

Loved visiting this historic restaurant. Lots of art, photos and space in the restaurant. Enjoyed tamales, beans, rice . Great lunch stop!

Food and Service on point. Sat in the bar area and got to people watch. The margaritas are famous. Always perfect. Of course like everything prices have gone up. But the food and drinks are.. Delicious .

This place has gone downhill really bad. We haven't been here one time in the past 6 months and had no mistakes on anything we ordered and today set me over the edge. A specific server gave absolutely zero time for anyone to order. I usually ask for the #12 with chicken and all pot beans. She barely gave me time to get past #12 before moving on to the next person. Lo and behold, I got a beef taco instead of chicken, as expected. I have pretty bad anger issues so I could barely speak knowing it wasn't my fault and completely hers. Down below is a photo of the beef taco crushed. Only reason this is getting 3 stars is because I did get an apology only because she knew I was pissed. Nice job Mexicali!

Always a favorite place to go, for all of my family. Food is always great! Miss Mexicali west though.

The Dish: I went with the pumpkin pancakes topped with pecan butter, plus a side of bacon. Fun fact: this exact dish was actually featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives! The Flavor Profile: To say these pumpkin pancakes were good is an understatement, they were absolutely to die for. As the pecan butter melted over the top, it created the perfect rich sauce, and the crunchy pecan bits scattered throughout the pancakes gave every single bite an amazing texture. Eating this felt exactly like a cozy October morning. The Verdict: Between the perfect diner nostalgia and those incredible pancakes, this breakfast was a total home run. If you're looking for ultimate comfort food that lives up to the TV hype, this place is a must-visit!

The last 3 or 4 times I have eaten at Milt's my order has not been prepared as I asked and it has…read morebecome increasingly frustrating as I have had to each time send my food back to be redone before it is right... There is one server in particular that is too loud for me and I always hope that I am not seated in her section... This morning however, I was seated in her section... I read the room very quickly today and told my husband that this time was most likely going to be one of these bad experiences... I could not have been more right... There were approximately 5 employees working and approximately 6-7 tables with customers... It took about 10 minutes or so before anyone took our drink order due the loud server having too many tables to properly attend to with one being a fair sized party... A couple arrived after we did and the loud server took their order, delivered their food while mine was sitting on the kitchen counter, then she proceeded to have a chat with this couple as if they were the only customers in the diner... I know this because the couple were seated in the booth in front of and as I have stated before in this review, the server is loud... When she did bring my food, the potatoes were not only runny, they were cold... It took some time for her to get back to our table and when she finally did, I told her the potatoes were cold...Her response? ''Oh'' I get that it is a diner with a short order cook, but there is ZERO reason for cold mashed potatoes... The loud server did ask if I wanted my order remade, but I was aggravated and not willing to wait another 30 minutes or so for a remade order while the server resumed with personal chit chat with other customers instead of attending to the few tables she had, so I declined... There were two other servers (one with the really cool foreign accent and a tall one with a pony tail...) that had no tables and who were doing nothing...There was no reason either one of them could not have helped out by at least delivering the food to the customers... The prices are too high for crap service and cold food... As I was leaving, I told the server with the accent who was at that moment at the cashier station that I was tired of getting bad service and food and that I would not be coming back until they got their act together... On a positive note: The only time I have gotten excellent customer service is when Mercy has been working... Unfortunately, Mercy has different hours now and is not there when we come in at our regular time... I do not care what alternate name you give this restaurant, whether it be Milt's or something else, the underlying owner is still ORG... I am beyond sick and tired of seeing ORG all over B-town and not without reason... I used to go to ORG on Calloway and not one single time in the upwards of 10+ times I ordered a Patty Melt could they get it right... I had many conversations with the manager/franchise owner regarding this as over half the time, the meat was undercooked and all of the time, they were either unable or unwilling to put together a simple meat, cheese and bread order... I stopped going to ORG because of this and every time I see an ORG, I am disgusted... None of this ongoing crap with ORG is worth it anymore... Please understand...If you read this review, know that it is my personal experience and nothing more...

Bakersfield has resturants that offer country potatoes but unfortunately most places fall short, this place is on point with their seasoning. As you can tell by the pictures my kids left happy and full. This place is so welcoming and the interior is cute, plus their restrooms are super clean.
