Amazing food and service! Creative dishes, as well as traditional! The drinks are also awesome!

Came for Cinco De Mayo and it was packed! We were immediately seated in a booth and given menus. We were told that we only had an hour in a half to eat and asked if that was okay and we said that was fine. We started off with the Table Nachos with chicken and the Queso Fundido. The nachos were very good but had only tiny bits of chicken. The queso was excellent with the hot melted cheese and peppers but looked a lot smaller than when we had previously gotten it. For our dinners, we ordered the Tacos De Asada, the Enchilada Del Mar and the Turkey Tacos special. The tacos were very good and I love the cheese for dipping. The enchilada was tasty and a nice portion. The turkey taco special was pretty good and we had leftovers for lunch. Considering how busy they were our service was excellent and the food did not take that long. Thought they would have music playing but there was nothing. We had a great dinner and a fun night out. read more

We are always on the lookout for some good Mexican food. It was zero degrees outside the night we visited and we heard a server saying a table got up and moved. We were seated in front of the door and realized why. It was pretty miserable and we wore our coats for the entire meal. We ordered mango and pomegranate margaritas. I asked for salt and got salt the first time, but was given tajin instead on the 2nd round. The restaurant stresses you only get one complimentary order of chips, but the order you pay for with the guac is very small. We both ordered enchiladas Del Mar and thought they were tasty but the sauce was pretty bland. The guacamole also could have used more seasoning, but overall it was decent. We finished with churros which were excellent, probably some of the best I've had except for the chocolate syrup. They would be better with thick chocolate dipping sauce. read more

Who would've thought amazing food would be in a strip mall? Only in Hockessin! My friend suggested I go here and it was the best meal I've had in a while! I will definitely be returning. The waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely attentive. She anticipated our needs before we even knew them. They have great Mexican beers on draft. An extensive menu. And desserts that I should have made room for, Tres Leches and Flan!Again, on my next trip. If you're anywhere in southeastern, Pennsylvania or Delaware, you should check this place out! What a lovely find! Recommended by someone we met at ACME Grocery. Very nice ambiance, clean and welcoming. Ricardo was our server and he was wonderful, attentive and explained the various unique dishes. This restaurant offers very unique cuisine from various areas of Mexico. My husband ordered the Chiles En Nogada which was absolutely incredible! A stuffed chili with ground beef and pork, fruit, walnuts and warm spuces, topped with a walnut cream sauce and pomegranates! Wow!! Bursts of flavors with every bite! Refried beans and rice were delicious and the crispy beef taco was great. We will return!! read more

Ambiance basic. Looks like and old pizza place. Had a good crowd later on. Service good but ordered two basic beef tacos. One came out with just lettuce and cheese. So... I read the negative reviews first before going. While some seem to have caught their servers on a bad night, most seem to be impatient, pretentious, and just plain jerks. The chips were just fine, the guacamole was delicious, and the steak tamp(?) was excellent. The drinks were nice and stiff, lol. Our waiter was attentive, and I'm sorry but if you complain about getting your drink within 5-10 minutes of sitting down, go to the redneck bar down the street and get your bud light. Good drinks take time to make. The food was hot and delicious. Actually sat and had a nice chat with the staff after hours (took a few minutes to get that 4th drink down).... some of y'all really need to be ashamed of yourselves. Finally got the wife to join me at the best Mexican place near our new place that also has a full service bar. I guess my birthday had something to do with it. lol It wasn't too long after we were seated and ordered drinks and queso that we noticed a party of 16 show up next to us. Four couples and 8 kids. Gee, this never happens when I eat solo at the bar. Queso was a little runny, but the chips still warm so I didn't care. Both margaritas I had produced quite a wallop, and when paired with my delicious chicken chimichanga, it was lights out in the passenger seat on the way home. People usually rave about their tacos, enchiladas, and fajitas. I, on the other hand, enjoy their American cuisine with a Mexican twist. Chicken & chorizo penne pasta, burgers, and mango habanero wings. House margarita, mojitos, and Long Island iced tea (made by Maurizio) are a nice addition to their delicious food as well. My chimichanga was just averaged at best. Atmosphere is "ok." Could be much better. Why do you still have valentines stuff (balloons/decorations) up a week after Valentine's Day? Furniture is mismatched. Lighting is odd. Also--your restrooms are FREEZING! Turn up the heat. They now charge for extra chips/salsa...seriously? Since when...And why? #Absurd I can go to Border Cafe and get all the chips/salsa I want. Also... We ordered 1 queso. They brought out two on accident. Their mistake. We told them. No worries on our end. Then they took it back...? Very odd. Why not just leave it. Hospitality 101. Plus, are you planning to serve that to someone else after we just breathed all over it? Or, are you going to just throw it away anyway? Why not leave it and "wow" us? I realize times are tight, but come on. You're getting cheap! Place seems stingy now. Under new management? Dunno. But something seems off. Also, our waiter was out of it. Guy with nose right and man bun. Too casual. Guy walked passed us multiple times without checking on us. WE had to ask for refills multiple times. Guy need to be trained better and step up his game or just find another profession. He's weak. Best Mexican food in all of Delaware. I'm not kidding. The chef is extremely talented, he sat with us one night and we discussed some of his recipes. Pick anything off the menu and you can't go wrong. The Poblano soup (seasonal) is breathtaking. Chile en Nogada is one of my favorites. The drinks are also great. We ate here a couple of weeks ago and it was great. They were quite busy but service was good- we didn't have to wait too long for anything. Started out with chips and salsa and we got a small order of guacamole . Very good. I got a mango mojito that I loved and my husband got a house margarita that he enjoyed. For my entree I got the enchilada's Del Mar . I was quite disappointed- I'd had it before and it was delicious, but this time the filling was just mush - like a fishy paste that you really couldn't tell what it was . The sauce on it was delicious. My husband got chicken breasts in sauce topped with cheese. It was served with rice and vegetables. He loved it . Even with my disappointing enchiladas I heartily recommend Mexican Table. Most things on the menu are very good. read more

We don't live nearby, but have found ourselves planning on being in the area at mealtime. The food, friendly service and ambiance is wonderful. The Chef's palate is very nuanced and every dish we try, often specials, never fails to be a delight. You should go there, don't be put off by its location in a small shopping center. So the server was low energy and didn't want to be here. I wish he stayed home Had to ask for utensils. Had to ask for napkins. Table nachos 15 were a rip off. My wife ordered chicken quesadillas and the server never mentioned she was going to get a smaller portion than what the kids meals contained. Went here recently with friends not realizing it was Day of the Dead and they were crazy busy! So glad we had reservations. We were promptly seated and our waitress greeted us with a caveat that we could only keep our table for 90 minutes, so we didn't waste time choosing our meals. I had shrimp enchiladas with salsa verde and my husband had chicken enchiladas with mole. Both were quite different from each other but both delicious. This had become one of our favorite restaurants until they started charging that damn credit card fee. I'll go right into the food ....My husband enjoys the tacos and I love the avocado salad with all the yummies in it. We enjoyed the Cali guacamole which was very unique. They serve it with nachos and fried plantain chips. Each time we've gone there, the chef has a soup of the day and it is outstanding. I'm talking like four-star restaurant quality. The staff is so nice and I really enjoy going there. I'm just really disappointed that they charge a credit card fee now. Yes, their prices are not high so it's not as much of a sting as some of these restaurants where you're paying $45 plus for an entree and they still charge a credit card fee. People in this little town don't seem to have a problem with that. So my husband and I seem to be outnumbered. And usually I give restaurants that charge credit card fees two or three stars. But I really like this restaurant and again the staff is so sweet. I'm very particular about my Mexican food and have not found a whole lot of restaurants where I thoroughly enjoy what I eat but this restaurant is top notch like probably better than the majority around here. Mexican Table is a hidden gem in Hockessin! Had this stuffed poblano in Seattle and loved it! It's a burst of flavors unlike no other. You can imagine how excited I was when I found it right in my own backyard, and it did not disappoint. This item can be shared as an appetizer to leave room for another amazing entree. This was after the manager asked us if someone is taking care of us. Never been treated this way and we have had the same server for many years now.
