Sunday evening the restaurant was fairly empty but we had to wait to be seated and couldn't see any waiters or host anywhere. When the waitress came to the table, she didn't introduce herself and wasn't rude but didn't smile once. We put our orders in together and asked for , drinks , apps and entrees, 2 entrees came out first, no drinks about 3 minutes later the drinks came, then the apps and finally after about 5 minutes later the final entree, my food got cold while I started my drink since she forgot to bring us water before even though we had to ask for it. The guacamole had no flavor was under salted and needed lime, I love it chunky and it was but wasn't mixed enough, felt like no love in it, it was flavorless, we told her and she offered to bring us salt, we sent it back. My tacos were ok the carnitas were tender and flavorful, the steak taco ok flavor but the plate overall underwhelming. The other entrees one was good plating was awful (chicken and rice) the other (picaña) was horrid. Service was definitely lacking only one waitress , definitely understaffed. Looked like everyone called in sick that day. Ambiance was great the food has potential and staffing needs a lot of help serving. I won't go back. I do not recommend. read more

Went there for lunch a few weeks ago with coworkers and I thought it was good. Besides us there were 2 other tables occupied. This past Sunday I took my family. We entered, there were plenty of tables available, but no one came to the front. After a line started forming someone finally came and sat us. The waitress then came by, no hello, no my name is and I will be serving you. She asked if we wanted something to drink. Being that the service was not great, we decided to order everything. We ordered margaritas, she asked small or large. I asked the size, she showed me with her hands, what seemed like a tiny and a medium size glass. When the drinks came they were in gigantic glasses. So ok, who doesn't like a big drink. We asked for water. Then our food came followed by our appetizer. We order the Mezcal Guacamole, which was chopped avocado, onions and tomatoes with no taste whatsoever . This is not guacamole, this is a chopped avocado salad. When we told our waitress she suggested bringing salt & pepper. We declined as this not only needed salt & pepper, it also needed lime juice and to be smashed. We asked for water again, no apology for forgetting, just said yes I can bring water like we never asked. Not sure if management is not there on Sundays, but this is how restaurants fail they have young people serving with no training and no one overlooking. So this was our second visit here having come when they first opened. We did not have a good experience on the first visit but it was new so we waited to see if things maybe improved. The unfortunate answer is no. We sat at the bar and waited almost five minutes before seeing a bartender and getting menus and some chips/salsa. We ordered some beers and then waited again as we watched the bartender have to make the drink orders while also having to check on food orders and serve them to the other patrons at the bar. We did feel bad for her so we remained patient. Ordered a couple tacos and the sampler platter that did come out in a reasonable amount of time. Nothing too special but it did the job as we were hungry. Once done we ordered some shredded chicken nachos (just chicken, cheese, chips) to go for our kids. 45 minutes later we were still waiting. All while our plates were never cleared sitting in front of us. Again we stayed patient and when the to go item finally came we asked for the check. She acknowledge us but then asked us to wait as she made a margarita in front of us, cutting up an orange, and then going to serve it. Finally we got to check out. Extremely disappointed. Been wanting to try Mezcal since it opened. I go to Costco at least once a week and it's across the street. Nice restaurant new clean the service staff was very friendly and on the ball. I ordered something very different roasted marrow bones with ribeye and the sides was $23 which was very appropriate for what I got. I enjoyed it. Everybody else enjoyed their food. My wife had the chicken chimichanga. The negative about it. There's no prices on the drink menu, which I think caught up to us at the end. We've been here once before and had a decent experience, so we decided to give it another try. The food was solid and tasted good, but unfortunately the service really missed the mark this time. From the start, our waitress seemed confused about a beer order and brought something we didn't want. After that, we felt oddly rushed throughout the entire meal, which was especially strange given that the restaurant was basically empty on a Saturday at lunchtime. We were repeatedly prompted to order before we were ready. The most uncomfortable part came after our food arrived. While we were still actively eating, forks literally in our hands, the waitress brought the check, stood next to our table holding the payment machine, and would not step away even after we clearly said we were still eating. She also asked if we wanted boxes for the rest of our food. It was an incredibly awkward and pressured interaction that took away from the experience. We came here only for drinks to cap off my mother in laws birthday evening after having dinner at the Select. My wife had previously tried the food here but having already eaten we each had a drink. The Long Island was watered down disappointing my father in law, my bathtub ocean blue drink w a duck was yummy, wife's jalapeño margarita was good and you can't mess up a cape cod. First off let me say the food is decent. Nothing special but not terrible. They have a really nice atmosphere. That's about where it ends. There are no prices on the drink list and the bartender has to check the computer to see what it costs. It is probably the most expensive drinks in Mount Pleasant which is saying something. We've wanted to try this place since seeing it progress through construction and opening and finally made it out there tonight. It has some mixed reviews so I wanted to provide my take on some of that. The drinks are on the pricey side and there are no prices in the menu - admittedly annoying. We went ahead and ordered a Texas and a cucumber margarita - $16 and $13.75 respectively (4/12/25 for reference). They are not your average margs though. Fresh squeezed juice and proper ingredients, not a mix with tequila in a glass. I will say they were excellent and we saw a lot of other fantastic looking drinks come out. For dinner, I had the Birrea burrito and my wife had Camerones al mojo de ajo. Again, not your average Mexican plates. Everything is fresh and well seasoned. Both dishes were great and we enjoyed them. Mezcal is definitely well above typical Mexican places around MP, but also more expensive. You get what you pay for and I am OK with that. Friendly staff and nice ambiance, too. We will definitely be back. read more

Decided to try this new spot after a Costco visit. Atmosphere and decor was authentic, whimsical and fun. Very cool glassware options as well We sat at the bar and ordered the chip trio which I have to say was excellent. My girlfriend had a medium blackberry margarita ($13.25) which was also very good. They had a very limited draft list for me and I thought $10 for Dos Equis was a bit rich. Hit happy hour ( $1 off ) for the first one but still a bit high for a non craft. I'm not a fan of the no prices on the drink menu-that part always seems scammy to me and we did have a little language barrier a few times. We then tried the queso birria which came as 3 tacos and sauce for $18.95. They weren't stuffed but again the flavor was awesome and meat was super tender and not fatty. I've given this place a few tries, hoping each time that I just caught them on an off day. Unfortunately, I think "off" might just be their default setting. I really want to root for a new spot getting its footing, but there are some glaring issues that make it hard to do so. Let's start with the drinks. I have yet to see a bartender actually make a cocktail. Every margarita is poured straight from a machine--God only knows when it was last cleaned (but hey, alcohol kills germs, right?). Unfortunately, it doesn't kill the taste of a melted 7-Eleven slushy. There's zero hint of alcohol, unless you count the price, which somehow changes every time I go. Fun game, but I'd rather just know what I'm paying. Now, the food. I don't know how else to say this, but...it tastes weird. My first attempt was a fish taco that managed to be both bland and overwhelmingly fishy at the same time. No lime in sight to cut the smell, and honestly, I couldn't eat it. Next, I went for chicken tacos. The seasoning was so strange that I had to double-check if I was eating actual chicken or something that just identifies as poultry. It wasn't spoiled, just...mystifyingly bad. Finally, I gave them one last shot with a burrito bowl, and while the chicken was obviously real this time, the seasoning still ruined it. Whatever spice blend they're using needs to be sent back to the depths from which it came. The only thing saving this place from a one-star review is the atmosphere, which is actually pretty nice. But a good vibe can only take you so far when the food and drinks make you question your life choices. Two stars for effort, but I won't be rolling the dice again for a while. Hopefully this helps them make revisions. I'll wait for word of mouth to tell me to go back. read more

We love Mezcal Restaurant on Faison Road. We have eaten there and ordered take out several times and I could easily give a 5 star rating. Recently, we ordered four dinners for take out and every single dinner was wrong. I placed the order myself over the phone and I had the employee repeat the order back to me. I typed out the order on my phone and sent it to my daughter who was going to pick it up on her way home from work. She showed the employee the order that I typed out. When she came home, most of it was wrong. We ordered beef enchiladas and got chicken. We ordered a Mezcal Bowl, but got a bowl of plain rice with pieces of chicken on it. I had to go out of town so I didn't speak to anyone right away. I walked into Mezcal to speak to a manager today to see if he would make it right. He asked me for pictures of everything we received. I said I didn't take pictures. He said the person taking the order probably took the order wrong. I said that the employee repeated the order to me. He didn't offer an apology or a solution. I asked him directly "Is plain rice with pieces of chicken a Mezcal Bowl?" He said "No. That's not a Mezcal Bowl." I said "But that's what we got." He never said he was sorry. He never tried to make it right. He never offered a discount or gift card. Nothing. Personally, I owned three fast food restaurants before retiring. I always made it right with every customer even if I thought the customer may have been wrong. I always offered an apology and a gift card. I did what was right. I never posted my experience until after speaking to the manager personally. I was extremely kind and polite. I never said that I would never go there again. I said thank you to the manager when I left. My family loves the restaurant and the food. They made a huge mistake with our order and never offered to fix it. Be sure to take photos of everything I guess is the only lesson learned. Disappointed. read more

A basic margarita (not large) with the addition of dragon fruit syrup for $22 is insulting honestly. These are manhattan prices in a north mount p strip mall across from Costco. We're so used to extreme prices in Charleston but this is a locals area, and they're absolutely gouging us. Never again. The lack of transparency and then outrageous price and shitty happy hour, makes this place an absolutely not. And just out of curiosity, I grabbed downtown halls drinks menu, where the service and drinks are exceptional. Also, was empty on drinks for over 20 minutes and there were 2 other people at the bar.
