We ordered takeout for our family tonight. They did not include an entire order of chicken fajitas and also omitted the chicken tenders kids meal. We tried to call the establishment, but the number on the website takes us to a recording that says " the mailbox is not currently accepting messages." Because they are about to close, we don't have enough time to drive to the other side of Clayton to request the items that we paid for and were shorted. How annoying! Food- Usually the food is quite good. This is an elevated taste experience from regular Mexican restaurants. We recommend everything. They started out strong when they opened and then there was a bit of an issue and they have seemed to make a comeback again. The previous issue was with so many flies in the restaurant. Drinks- next level drinks! Absolutely delicious and yummy! Expect to pay though. These drinks are made to taste delicious but look amazing as well! So many options of margaritas, some with top shelf liquor. You can taste the difference. Service- Usually okay. Depends on who you get. You may have to wait a little bit. Service is not overly fast here so be patient or ask the server for updates. Ambiance is definitely part if what makes this place cool and someplace different to go to. The music is loud so depending on what you like, this can be fun or it could be annoying. We enjoy it. They have an awesome outdoor area as well with plants and fans for warmer months. They just added permanent coverage for the outdoor dining. I would recommend this place for date night, girls night or a fun family lunch/dinner! We usually do more take out here than in person dining and the take out is well packed and presented well with fresh food. Four stars because of the slower service at times and the we wish the take out window was covered or inside vs outside since you have to park and walk to the window to stand and wait for your order. Not usually too much of a problem unless it's raining. If you go in, they tell you to go to the window outside. read more

The food is actually very good. This poor review is because of the special. I allowed the waiter to talk me out of ordering a burrito or tacos and in to ordering the Porterhouse almost exclusively because I wanted the tostones. What came out was a rail thin piece of overcooked mediocre breakfast steak that you might see at Denny's. It is ok though because I got my tostones completely buried in guacamole. It stayed ok until the bill arrived and that Denny's steak carried a $70.00 price tag. So I paid Ruth's Chris prices for one of the worst, lowest quality steaks I have ever had. If you go here, stick to the tacos and forget the special. They are quite literally the worst rip off I have ever had at a restaurant. read more

My family and I ate here for lunch. We were excited because it looked fresh and new and always had cars parked out front so we thought it must be good! The food tasted like plastic, it wasn't very good. It felt like they wanted us out of there as quickly as possible and the server seemed annoyed when my two year old dropped a French fry on the ground. So good! Parking is a challenge since the plaza is mostly under construction, so be prepared to search for a bit. Once you're in, though, the vibe is awesome, and even when we sat outside when it was 95 degrees, the tent and multiple industrial fans made it tolerable! We both got lunch options (I didn't even know a lunch portion of my dos puercos existed, so I was grateful the server offered it) and it was SO much food still! And the chips and salsa? Incredible! We were sat and waited outside at our table for over 10 mins with no server in sight, drinks or chips and salsa. Once one plate came out the order was wrong and had to wait again. Food was great and the vast options and size of the margaritas were a change from our run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurants in the area. Service is still improving, as expected of a new restaurant. Biggest knock was the lack of restrooms. They have one male and one female restroom that is single occupancy. It was odd considering how large the bar is. Although a regular sized top shelf margarita was on the menu, the waiter and manager refused to serve that size, saying only the jumbo size is available on weekends. Went there for the first time today. It had a loud environment, which was expected, service was mediocre. Server seemed to have a attitude. I ordered the steak and crab legs. The steak was good and the crab legs were the worst I ever had, over cooked and no flavor. I told the server after tasting them, her response was, yah sorry about that. That's as far as it went. We have been driving by Mezcalito since we have moved to area and wanted to try out. 2 other Mexican restaurants in areas were duds as far as service and food quality. We had to wait about 25 minutes even though there were open tables in the courtyard. Restaurant is well kept only bathrooms could have been serviced better. Food quality and taste was great for the money. Waiter, Joshua, did a great job. I would have given them 5 stars if not for the blaring music and sound system. Had a hard time talking over it and would have like something a little more romantic for spouse. I go along with what Charles B. says. Service, food and atmosphere are really good. The drinks however are fantastic. So many great margarita options big and small. I like the pineapple jalapeño margarita with premium tequila.
