Awesome food. However, make reservations and plan your evening well. My party of five had to wait an additional 45mins pass our reservations time. Anyway, the food is worth the wait. Don't order a Gyro, order off the fish or entree menu. Sides are well thought out and desserts are excellent too. Our parties' bill was about $165.00 for 5 adults. There dipping platters are also spot on flavor wise, wish the pita bread was made on premise but there food is so good it can be overlooked. Do not go here! My son got food poisoning from this restaurant. The entire place reeks and the food was absolutely terrible and overpriced. Shrimp was bland, Filet Mignon was absolutely gummy and drowned in sickly sweet sauce and dirty mushrooms. Service was bad enough and they didn't even look like they actually cared about the horrible experience we had here. Very pleasant and friendly service, gave us some fresh warm pita bread and crostini with delicious olive oil to start. The appetizers including the grilled octopus were out of this world fork tender. Seafood salad was bland, but very fresh. All entrees were perfectly cooked and excellent. The Chilean sea bass stood out as the table favorite. The owner surprised us not once but twice, first bringing us a bowl of mussels on the house and then treating us to some wonderful sugar cookies baked by his mother. Great wine too (Dimitra I think, Greek origin). Didn't have room for dessert, next time for sure. Overall a delicious and pleasant experience. Excellent restaurant with actual Greek food. The tarama is simply the best I had in the US, the tzaziki was the right amount of garlicky, the gigantes beans were warm with a divine tomato sauce. It was so good that after a copious lunch, we ordered one side more of each meze to bring home! Then for entrees, we had the giro platter and sandwich, super generous portions and prepared just right, and a branzzino and a Greek salad. All wonderful. Not only will we go again but this place will be added to our rotation of deliveries since they also deliver! Only point that needs fixing: the place needs a changing table in the restroom. Char-grilled whole fish, cuts of lamb and Steak are always amazing. The appetizers are hit & miss. I didn't enjoy the eggplant salad (a bad take on baba ghanouj) nor the scordalia. Grilled Octopus, Shefteles (Cypriot Sausage) fried squid with garlic sauce & horiatiki salata are standards. "Greek salad" sucks & is just greasy lettuce & cheese. Greek fries too are just feta and bleh fries that have been sitting out for 30 minutes & go for $7. If you get grilled fish or octopus try the Kouros Patras...I never enjoyed white wine as much in my life, especially a twenty-dollar bottle. I typically get a grilled whole snapper, sometimes a Porgi or Branzini, with rice & zucchini sauteed with caramelized onions. A little Olive Oil and a dash of lemon juice & I'm in heaven. My sister swears by the avloyemeno (egg lemon soup). Mousakka was very heavy on my stomach even if it was tasty. Deserts are fantastic if pricey, but a dish of yalaktoboureko & a fresh frappe would make weak men cry. Seriously. Unfortunately I have expensive taste, as pretty much everything on the menu except for the souvlaki platters has become ruthlessly overpriced, almost on the same level as Tanorreen. My boyfriend and I live in this 'hood and order delivery from Meze all the time. The lentil soup is a good standard, and the gyro plate with lamb is excellent. We also enjoy the Greek sausage very much. The hummus is very good too. Sometimes we get Baklava for dessert. Happy eating! read more

The consistency of food, service, and ambience make Meze worthy of being among the best restaurants in Brooklyn. We come here regularly but tonight we ordered the saganaki delivered flaming hot to the table. This gooey goat cheese is salty, briny and slighlty tart with a spritz of lemon. All meze (small plates) are worth recommending, from the loukaniko sausage to the caviar dip. If it's cold outside, try the paidakia (braised lamb). The humus felt as if it was canned and the pricing on certain items was very expensive . Grilled octopus $16? For 2 legs cut in to pieces. I love the food from this restaurant! It has to be the best food that we've ordered in a long time. Everything was fresh and so very well made. I go on like this over something simple yet so hard to find food being made properly and so fresh and wonderful. We both love Greek and Mediterranean food and this has to be the best restaurant for us in Brooklyn and believe me we've tried so many and they all really are lacking when compared to the Meze. Great authentic Greek Food. The good: Authentic food - the fish, the sausage (homemade), excellent greek salad, the superb bifteki the meze dip. The food is really good and I have been to many Greek places throughout the city (this is akin to some of the great Astoria places like Elias Corner and Stamatia). The owner is charismatic and warm - service is fine (don't listen to the whining reviews). The not so good: The neighborhood is more residential so the location is a bit off the beaten path. it is pricey for the area, but with good fish you have to expect higher prices. Place could be a bit bigger. Overall, I highly recommend. it's a nice place to go on a date if you want some out of the way place or if you are focused on sitting down for a great Greek dinner without the frills. The decor I'd call simple elegant? Despite being a rainy Wednesday night, the majority of tables were full, which goes to show that they're fairly popular. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and "whacked them up" as we like to say. Fried Cheese - comes flaming to your table. GREAT. Chicken Strips - they're grilled and come with a chopped salad. VERY GOOD.
