This was a nice surprise and alternative to Cava Mezze. It is quite similar, but what makes this place more cool is the decor and the amount of seating. I love the design in this place and the couch that goes pretty much around the restaurant. It is something that definitely separates themselves from other places. It adds another dimension to the space that they are offering and it does help that their food is tasty. The upsides to this place is the use of sugar cane in their drinks and they advertise it rightly so. The food is tasty and not lacking in flavor. I do wish that they had a more spicier choice, but that is not really a big deal. They amount was filling and a good balance in price and the amount of food making it a good choice for lunch. The downsides to this place is the weird unsweetened teas, which are unique, but they took me for a spin before I got used to it. After two flavors, I needed to switch to the sweet drinks. Just a taste preference though. The meat choices were a bit dry when we came in, which was like 2:30 ish. I think that the lunch rush ended and we got the end of the prep. Either or, the fresh vegetables and the sauce made up for the dryness. A Pita pocket you say? Don't think that this is going to be the same pitas that you get in the grocery store that's completely dry and then crammed with some mediocre vegetables. No, the pita pockets here are delicious and bulky. I initially looked at it and thought there was no way could this fill me up, but as I ate more and more I found that every bite had all the layers that I wanted. These layers could of course be customized to everybodys individual taste but I had brown rice, chicken shawarma, greek feta, lebanese tabbouleh, israeli couscous, roasted vegetables, chickpea salad, and pickled onions. It looks like a lot but it's a perfect blend of flavors for me and was completely customizable. Each of the sauces that we wanted came on the side so as to prevent it from becoming soggy which is great and unexpected. I loved being able to take a bite, spread a different sauce over my pita pocket and then do it all over again. Don't expect to get more than 1 serving out of your pita pocket. Updated review: The quality has significantly gone down since my last visit. I really didn't want a bad experience here since it's close to work and it's a good healthy lunch option. First problem: The employee behind the line can't speak English, he barely can understand what I am saying and I feel like I'm yelling. So frustrating Second Problem: The chicken was undercooked (kebab). I had to switch to the kebab because the shawarma was all dark meat and I would like a protein. The couscous has changed for the worse, the pearl couscous was way better. I like the variety of toppings available. Some items are a bit too salty for my taste. They could organize the toppings better to minimize cross contamination between toppings. For example, gluten containing items, like couscous, should not pass over gluten-free items. It only takes 10s of ppm of gluten before something is no longer gluten free. Similarly non-vegan items should not pass over vegan items. If they fixed this and if their staff actually knew which items were gluten-free, then I'd be super happy. That said, using their handout isn't too bad, especially if they alphabetized it. read more

Underrated goodness. I tend to hear of other Mediterranean restaurants before Mezeh, but I think they offer some of the best flavors for this cuisine. The unlimited choices is also the best bang for your buck. Both quality and quantity is satisfied here. I've been here for dinner about three times now, and each time it's been delicious. I just don't live close enough to justify driving 20 minutes for Mezeh all the time, otherwise for about $10 a bowl, this beats out many other fast food casual restaurants. I will order a mixed greens and brown basmati rice bowl with the chicken shawarma. There are extra charges for the steak and lamb. Then I choose from there extensive, over 20, different toppings! So it's chipotle-style food where you can pick what you want and add as many toppings as you want. You really do get that "bang for your buck" deal! Everything was pretty fresh and the guy who made it for me stacked it up! Parking was easy cuz there's a garage next door, and it's in an up and coming spot with townhomes being built. I stopped by this place with my mother and aunt because we were craving Mediterranean food. When we entered, we were met with a scornful look. The lady who served us was really rude and also told us the place closes at 8 PM (both the website and the door stated 8 PM and the door was also opened way past 8 PM). Anyways, throughout the time she was just incredibly silent when we had requests for toppings and really short on answers to questions (also, the place was absolutely dead). BP and I bought at $10 for $20 Groupon for Mezeh Mediterranean Grill and were excited to try the place out. Initially, the restaurant was very secluded on a Friday night at dinner, but more people came in as the evening went on. Mezeh is yet another assembly line better-than-normal- fast food restaurant like Chipotle, but with Mediterranean flair. We chose a three meals to fully max out our Groupon and paid the small difference on credit card. I guess we were pretty hungry because I did not take a single picture of our order... I remember we ordered one wrap, one rice bowl and one pita pocket. For my wrap, I ordered steak shawarma with a combination of both brown and white rice. I definitely remember getting the Israeli couscous, eggplant caponata (used the website to figure that out), and the spicy harissa sauce on my wrap. I was disappointed when the staff member assembling the wrap would just put a tiny amount of product on the wrap, but his reasoning was that if it was over stuffed, he would not be able to wrap it. That should not be my problem if their wrap is poorly constructed... Many of the toppings (like pickled beets and carrots) were free and I feel like I should have been able to try as much as I wanted, but I wasn't able to because of the wrap. He was right, the wrap could not be well... wrapped, and I ended up eating it with a fork as an open-face plate. Maybe that's why I did not take pictures to share? BP was smart and ordered the rice bowl. I should have ordered the rice bowl instead of the wrap... Anyway, he chose chicken shawarma for this bowl and played around with the other options. He ordered the falafel in the pita pocket, but the worker was not able to put as many ingredients as we wanted to try items into the small pocket. Again, thanks to the poor construction of the pita pocket, BP only got about a pinch/teaspoon of the ingredients he was interested in. Overall, the food was of excellent quality. Extremely tasty, unique, and authentic Mediterranean flavors. The meat was clean and not at all gross, which is always important to me. We had to sign up for a Mezeh app in order to use the Groupon. That was pretty annoying, but I learned that by using the app on my first visit I got an extra $3 off the meal, even after the Groupon was redeemed! BP and I are looking forward to return again, but will stick to the rice bowls exclusively since I feel that allows a consumer to get the most food for their money. read more

This place is wonderful! We had our catering order from another restaurant cancel our order MORNING OF. And luckily we found that Mezeh could accommodate our catering order within a couple of hours! The whole experience was wonderful. Their online catering menu was very easy to read and straight forward. We called a catering line and a gentleman assisted us in such a timely manner. Upon arrival, I believe the manager was the one to assist me. When I mentioned my order, everything was all packed up and ready tk go! Perfectly on the time we requested. We went through thr order, even gave us some utensils for serving. The gentleman even went above and beyond to walk the food to my car which was so nice of him! Did not expect it. Service was wonderful! We ordered the small spread plus an extra side of catering size white rice (5lbs of rice - WORTH IT) and it was sooooo great. The food was perfectly packaged. No spills, no leaks, nothing. Upon ordering, the manager did call to let us know there unfortunately there was no pita due to the machine being down but we would get chips instead. And I am so happy about that because the chips were the BEST. We are going to go back to get just the chips soon lol. I love Mezeh (even over Cava...) Tip: Download their app, start collecting rewards. For every $100 you spend, you get $10 in credit to use towards your next meal. There are so many different choices to choose from over Cava for instance. I like the flavor profile better here too, it packs more of a unique punch. Cava has a very clean, straightforward taste, while Mezeh has much more range. I also appreciate that Mezeh gives you a side of pita even if you only order rice as your base. The Cava's I have been to only give you a side pita if you get a full salad or half salad base... I like my carbs. I tend to get a lot of toppings as well. My favorite is the caramelized eggplant, it's just so good. I wish they opened more locations in the area, but I'm glad there's one nearby my every day commute! I was introduced to Mezeh by some friends, and it's easily become one of my go-to stops!! Think a build your own spot, like chipotle or cava, but with a ton more options!! They have everything ranging from crunchy chickpeas to a variety of hummus's and roasted vegetables! You can also choose from a variety of meats- I got the chicken shawarma which was delicious- and can choose from rice, salad, or both! They even throw in a complimentary pita if you order a bowl. All the ingredients were so fresh!! Some of the workers may skimp out on ingredients a little, so just ask for a little extra and they're happy to give it to you! They also have a ton of drizzles- I loved the harissa and taziki the best. They also have such a nice outdoor dining area, my family came around 7:30 pm on a Saturday night and it was mostly empty. Although this is my first review of Mezeh, I'm a regular here. If you've been to Cava, then you'll know the type of flavor we're dealing with at Mezeh. The thing that makes Mezeh better than Cava are the fresher and higher quality ingredients. Mezeh is also more cost-efficient. The service is similar to any Cava or Chipotle style line, where you order your meal starting with a foundation of greens rice, pick a protein or vegan replacement, then pile it with different toppings. The staff moves efficiently and with a smile on their face. Meals come with a free half pita. Don't sleep on the house-original fountain drinks. The cucumber-mint-lime is my favorite, but the others are good too, and they're only very lightly sweet, so you needn't regret the (minimal) sugar intake. Okay, Mezeh, you have made a new super fan out of me and my boyfriend. Downtown Crown shopping center is a go-to for us when we're not in the mood to cook, but also don't want fast food or delivery pizza. We frequent an establishment a few doors down from Mezeh, but decided to finally try this place out one Sunday evening. We were back for dinner two nights later. You can guess what our thoughts were.. Very similar to Cava, they do a Mediterranean version of Chipotle. (the OG of these types of places, I do believe). The main difference is that there are just so many more options at Mezeh and for $8.65, so very affordable. And because you can add whatever you want to - there's a good chance you end up with a huge meal. So you start with your typical base: rice bowl (brown or white basmati), salad, flatbread wrap, or pita pocket. I like to do a bit of brown basmati with some arugula and kale. (And don't forget there's tomatoes and chickpeas near the rice that you can get added on too) Then you choose your protein: chicken shawarma (this is what I've gotten both times because it is so flavorful and moist and so delicious), falafel, shredded lamb (+$2), steak shawarma (+$2), chicken kebab and beef kefta. And then there are the toppings. So so many of them to choose from. A few different types of hummus, quinoa salad, turkish salad, lebanese tabbouleh, pearl couscous, eggplant caponata, CARAMELIZED EGGPLANT (capitalized because these are my favorite. I don't know how they do it exactly, but please do not forget to add this), picked veggies like radish and onions, olives, marinated veggies... I mean there's a bunch more. Please download the menu. Then they have the sauces: tzatziki, harissa, tahini, balsamic vinaigrette, greek feta dressing, s'hug sauce - not sure what this is, but says it's HOT. I have gotten the tzatziki both times and it's been the perfect addition to bring all the flavors together. Also, you MUST add the pita croutons. It's like thick, crunchy, toasted pita slivers. Gives the best crunch to the entire meal. Delicious and convenient, this place is everything you want in a fast casual, grab and go restaurant. And if you happen to want to eat in, the restaurant is aesthetically pleasing with the dark wood tables, bright orange benches and fun, muted Italian style tiling on the walls and the floor. They have outside seating too, if you really wanna be European about it. Give them a try. This time I added both the eggplant caponata (had a good spiceness) and the caramelized eggplant as part of my toppings. Wow, that had to been one of the best eggplants I've eaten. So excited about this Mezeh!! I tried out Mezeh a few months ago in Crystal City and I loved it! So when I saw this Mezeh I was super excited to try it out!! This Mezeh exceeded my expectations!! The food and service are so great over here!! I love how fresh all the items are!! All the sauces are great too!! The food taste amazing and is healthy too! I can't wait to go work out next to the gyms nearby and then stop by and get a healthy and delicious meal!! This is one of my fav places to eat!! I can't get over how fresh the food is! I reached out to Mezeh for a catering need for 40 people and everything went fantastically smooth. I originally called and spoke to Patrick and he direct me to email my specific request. He was prompt to send me back an estimate that was detailed down to the amount of forks needed. Payment was made over the phone and super simple. When it came time for delivery, they accommodated my request of a 10:45 time even though the restaurant doesn't open until 11 am! The driver was prompt, prepared, friendly and accommodating. My group RAVED about how good the food was. My personal favorite being the caramelized eggplant, but I'm an equal fan of the cilantro hummus and spicy feta. It's a very healthy, quite addicting option. If you want fresh and friendly, add Mezeh on your list of must try spots. They are located in Crown behind Teds Bulletin, close to Chop't, Asia nine, and many others, but a formidable opponent in comparison. I'm happy.
