Me and my family have ordered from Mezza Luna for years!! We've catered food for many parties throughout the years but recently the past 3 times we ordered within the last 2 months, the food is horrible! Nothing tastes the same, the pizza is gross, and the pasta and vodka sauce tastes nothing like it used to! Idk what is going on, if maybe they are skipping out on good ingredients, or new cooks? We went here with my family for a quick Friday lunch. It was very safe and quiet. The smell of garlic and bread was intoxicating! We sat right away and the food came out very quick! Came here for lunch and not the first time here. Came to dine in many times and ordered food for take out as well. Today sat at the table was filthy dirty and sticky. Had to ask the waiter to wipe it down. No apologies or anything. Then the plates, silverware and glass was dirty. The plate has left over crap from previous customer. Noticed lipsticks marks on the glass from previous customer. What the hell is going on with the workers there. The waiteress does seem like she wants to work there. Ordered our food. Usually they bring a pitcher and bread to us automatically never need to ask. This time she asked me if I wanted it. Other customers were given without asking why I had to ask. Also I was kinda uncomfortable to asked a couple of times the glass and plates are dirty. The food arrived and it was not the same as before. There was a piece of string on the pasta I ordered. No big deal I finished paid the bill and get out. This is the last time I am dining here or order take out. The food and the workers are detoriating. I would had given less tip but I am not that type of a person willing to do that. Forgot to mention the coffee was nasty and never given me sugar for the coffee. Do I have to ask for that too? I decided I drink it first time with no sugar. Nasty coffee. I came home with an upset stomach. Never again. This is not the first time the food sucks. Another pizza/restaurant on Rt 9. With all the high reviews we decided to give it a try. The positives are price and value. With dinner entrees you get a choice of soup or salad. Pasta dishes and chicken, veal and seafood dinners are well priced considering that soup is included. Service was fine with our server very pleasant and accommodating. The food is standard fare with a few good options as well. The problem is the food was bland. The dishes look better than they taste. Chicken Marsala had plenty of mushrooms but no taste. Fra Diavolo ordered spicy was plain marinara sauce. The server asked when I ordered how would I like it and was told "spicy". The pasta was cooked al dente but tasteless. When we got the check I checked and it did state *spicy so the server heard me correctly. Portion sizes are ample and I can't complain about the value. BYOB read more

After getting several great pizzas from Mezza Luna, my family decided to give it a try for a birthday luncheon and ordered several early bird special dinners for a party of five. The meals came with soup or salad and included dessert. Serving sizes were more than adequate and some took home part of each heirloom meals. we have gone to Mezza Luna for many years and went recently on a weekday night as two couples and were extremely disappointEd Three of the four dishes were either chicken or veal Marsala and, in all cases, it appeared the mushroom sauce ( gravy) was simply warmed up and put upon cold meat that must have been lying around as all three of those meals had cold meat that clearly was not fresh. Several weeks ago I attended a baptism party at Mezza Luna. The service was fine but the veal was very tough. My other problem was when I went to the men's room I saw a roach crawling up the wall. I didn't tell anyone at the party in order not to upset anyone. The next day I contacted and spoke to the owner. Told him how upset I was and told him to contact his exterminator and recommended a particular product to solve the problem. I previously ran many restaurants and knew the product was very effective. The owner offered to sent me a gift card. I told I would expect he should send it to the person who paid for the party. He agreed, I told him I would not write the review if he did both. I let weeks pass and never mentioned it to person. This week I asked if they received a gift certificate from the restaurant and they replied no. I proceeded to contact the owner again. This time I got no reply. My message was to repeat our original agreement and that I expected to hear from him by Friday. So today I am putting the review on line. My feeling is since he didn't send the certificate that he never addressed the roach issue. Shame on you! read more

We have been coming here for years and this place never disappoints. It's by far one of the best pizza places in the area. I would easily give this place five stars- however what really encouraged me to write this review was how serious they take dietary restrictions. We ordered a gluten-free pizza and it was very clear how much consideration goes towards customers with allergies. The pizza was cooked in an individual pan and we were given our own individually wrapped pizza slicer. Mezza Luna has great people. The other day tragedy struck my good friend in Manalapan. I moved away from NJ not too long ago, but I wanted to let him know that we were there for him. What can we do from 3000 miles away? We decided to send food to the house to reduce the burden on the family. The people at Mezza Luna stepped up to help. I ordered some pasta to be delivered, but I didn't know when anyone would be home. Mezza Luna tried to deliver, but when nobody answered the door they called me and offered to redeliver later in the afternoon. Went into this place after looking at some wedding dresses in a nearby store. Had a party of seven. The staff was very friendly. So many choices of Italian food including pizza. Okay I saw many things wrong with this place. For one the workers all looked miserable and none of them are personable people at all. All of them aren't trained very good as you can see the way they act. I've been coming here for 10 years and back when the old owner was in it was much better and now it's kinda all just gone to sh** in a way. Try the chicken sandwich. The fries portion is tiny, mcdonals had a larger portion in their happy meal, hair is the new dressing I assume since there was one long hair in my sandwich. The delivery took 1hr 37min. (They are 5 min away based on waze) and was missing one meal from an order to which they brought another after my call to them and that was over an hour later as well. Stick with the standard Italian fare. I wasn't impressed by their salads from the pizza shop side of the restaurant. The chicken was overcooked and the avocado was far from ripe in my Insalata Primavera. At least the spring mix was fresh and they didn't skimp on the walnuts or goat cheese. Aside from the rolls being not as fresh as I'd prefer, everyone seemed to really enjoy the traditional Italian fare. The server did a great job of handling our large group that sat down without notice on a Sunday afternoon. Pizza shop style Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen in this area, but Mezza Luna just isn't the one with my allegiance. read more

First visit after many neighbors recommended it. Very good menu, roomy and calm dining room, attentive service. Food was delicious. When I found my calamari was spicier than I expected the server replaced it with another appetizer free of charge and without question. Price was quite reasonable, especially considering the wave of steep pricing in most restaurants these days. There will definitely be a second visit and, hopefully, more . I'm super simple when it comes to pizza so I always go for the plain pies. We ordered a plain pie to go and it only took 15 minutes. The pizza was cooked well throughout, the crust is on the thinner side and is well done and crunchy. There was a balanced amount of cheese as well as tomato sauce, and there isn't an obscene amount of oil that drips all over your hands while you eat it which is definitely a plus and means you won't have a pile of napkins next to your plate at the end of a meal. What makes it even better is they have a deal Monday-Wednesday where a plain pie is only $7.99! My wife and I just ordered two sandwiches, a turkey and prosciutto sandwich. The moment we unwrapped them, we knew it was a mistake. The sandwiches were disgusting. They put an egregious amount of prosciutto and balsamic on the sandwich. It was basically a heart attack waiting to happen. I know that prosciutto isn't the healthiest meat, but this stuff was greasy and nasty and cut WAY to thick. The turkey sandwich was also terrible. Loaded with mayonnaise and way to much cheese. The bread was again, soggy. I understand that they want to give you more food for your money, but less is more with sandwiches sometimes. We took a couple of bites and tossed both sandwiches. As you approach Mezza luna keep in mind it's not an easy place to find in the back of the Town Point shopping center behind a chase bank smack dab in the corner. Keep your ears open because you will hear the Italian music flowing letting you know what direction to walk. The effervescent scent of tomato gravy and garlic fills the air upon entree. There are 2 sides the casual pizzeria with a TV and take out with a few tables. The formal dining room lies to the right with a clear division. Plenty of tables scattered about in this long rectangular dining room with pics of old Italy upon the burnt yellow walls with mahogany finish and accents. Pleasant Italian music fills the air. No TV's in the dining room. The menu is quite extensive with every & all Italian dishes known to man Lol. The Neapolitan cold antipasta $10 with prosciutto, sopressota, fresh mozzarella, parmigianino, olives, plum tomatoes,roasted red peppers, basil, garlic and olive oil was fresh & oh so divine. This was a lunch visit so being a carnivorous veal type of a guy I couldn't resist the $10.50 12in. sub. Veal pressed and breaded so delicately practically melting in your mouth splattered a top is a wonderful gravy with the perfect combo of acid & sweetness & a hint of garlic not too watery or thick, making mamma proud. I kept licking my lips over and over again. The service was good. Food exceptional. I reserve my right to raise my rating from 4 to 5 after my second visit and perhaps a dinner excursion. From the look to smell to taste, I feel quite confident that this place is gonna go straight to the top of my list of Pisano joints to swear by in the fine state of New Jersey. They have great pizzas and garlic knots. Recently, I went there for dinner with a friend. I ordered fried calamari and my friend ordered eggplant parmesan.
