Missing flavor. Pasta is more than flour & eggs with cheese on top. We had the Lobster Ravioli and the Shrimps & Scallops. These are their specialties and top of their pricing chart. The LR portion was very small. Could not taste the lobster. Was smothered in cheese. Sad. The S&S.....shrimp was okay, scallops were not cooked. They never saw a pan. No color to them and no flavor. Second sad. We were with another couple. Luckily, only two of us ate the bread from the basket. If all four were eating it, we would have asked for more three times. Really?!?!? This is the third time eating here in five years. Need to back it down to twice at most. There is nothing to draw us back. Everytime we visit, the music from the bar is too loud to hold a conversation in the dining room. Why, why, why?? Friendly server, the kitchen was slow for all four of us. Bummer. read more

Everything went well for me even though they were very busy. I found a seat at the bar and the bartender gal gave me great service. My drink was strong & the food came out just out as ordered & just cooked! I had the Salmon L'orange which was fantastic. My seat was right by the singer who turned out to be very friendly. She even showed me how to see her live stream on my iPhone. Overall, it was a great time with great food and entertainment too! I'll be going back there again soon! read more

Mezza Luna, it's half of something and that half ain't good. Starting with a arctic chill that instantly makes your nipples hard. Gentle reader if you are going (and why would you), wear your snow gear. So cool and hip, menus on I pads. For experienced diner you're thinking, "Wow great they have really embraced technology." But as the waitperson hand writes your order and you remember the restaurant website was donw all day, you realize it all just for show. I sat where I could watch the hostess, cleaning and re cleaning finger prints off the I pads. I guess simple menus that offer a changing menu is too much to ask for. Dinning room is dark, staff wears all black. The floor and ceilings are black. In fact the only color in the room comes for the half dozen TV's in the bar that no one is watching, why? Because we are here for dinning. Not a sports bar. There wasn't a game on, why must we be subjected to distracting televisions? If I wanted to eat in front of a TV, I would have stayed home. Finally and it was a wait, our food showed up. My garden salad with wet lettuce had about 3/4 of a purple onion, a handful of canned sliced olives, and 3 nasty straight out of the refrigerator cherry tomatoes. (If I've said it once, I've said it thousand times. Tomatoes don't go in the refrigerator, unless you enjoy mealy, tasteless soggy tomatoes. ) The House Pasta Soup, canned tomato soup with some pasta tossed in. Completely flavorless. He had the salmon piccata. Large greasy plate of dead salmon swimming in brine. Hey it's cool to run out of say broccoli and sub it with sauteed spinach. But does anyone in the kitchen know how to make sauteed spinach? Here's a hint: It doesn't need 3 tablespoons of raw uncooked garlic or 1/4 cup of oil to sit in. Mashed potatoes, zero flavor. I guess these potatoes come in already cooked. Our server clearly wasn't into serving us, and she made herself scarce to the point of having to ask someone at the front desk to provide a bill for our table. Manager was pretty useless. Rubbing her hands together like a witch asking customers how everything was? She gave me no response to inquirers as to the crazy cold environment. I know there has got to be good quality food, consistently made in the Villages. Sadly, Mezza Luna ain't it so the search continues. 5:50PM, mens room trashed. Very long wait for our food and it wasn't hot when we got it. Chicken Marsala didn't have enough sauce and the lasagna tasted like it had been sitting in a warm oven to long. This restaurant has come a long way in our 11 years of Villages life. Our service was excellent due to Adolfo's efforts as well as his supporting team. I ordered the Veal and Shrimp Rosa and Joyce the Salmon piccata. Tender and tasty veal with Shrimp over angel hair with artichokes and roasted red peppers. It was excellent. The entire experience was wonderful. The menu is an iPad in the typical tall leatherbound menu holder which made selection easier. Three werclear images of majority of menu items. I had Pasta Fagioli and meat lasagne. We shared an order of garlic knots. My husband ordered veal marmalade. It's served over Angel hair pasta. Our server was Shayna. She and the waitstaff were very good. Drinks didn't sit low or empty for long. Husband ordered bottled beef. Which arrived in good time. It's a busy restaurant I only ordered iced tea so we didn't wait long. My husband loved his dish too. I took leftovers home. We didn't order dessert. I can't really think of anything good that happened while dining here. It's got solid reviews but the food was bad (think lots of salt), the service was eh, the ambiance was eh (loud, tight, not super comfortable), and they offered little in the way of food options that any of us were interested in. It's unfortunate because it could have potential. We also waited a long time for the food to arrive and we didn't have anything fancy or super special requests. We won't be back. read more

Chicken parm was a 4, salmon also a 4, chicken Florentine a 1. The Florentine came with mashed potatoes and broccoli , I asked to substitute pasta for the potatoes. I got angel hair with what tasted like Hunts tomato sauce. Awful! The 'roll' of chicken had ham and a very tiny bit of spinach in it. It was surrounded by enough barely warm broccoli to serve 4. No sauce, just dry chicken. I love chicken Florentine, this was NOT chicken Florentine. Better go back to the test kitchen with that one. read more

We went to Mona with three couples. It's in the villages where all the old people live me being an old people can't remember exactly what I got to eat. We all enjoyed the restaurant and our food. I know the restaurants in the town squares in The Villages are questionable, but I thought I'd give Mezza Luna a try, as it's not in the squares. Big mistake. Awful Lasagna. I knew as soon as I saw it delivered to me, in all it's orange glory. I HATE orange tomato sauce. 99% of the time, if you're served Italian Tomato Sauce that's orange, it's been beaten to death. The color comes from too much aeration or emulsification, with too much olive oil. In either event, it's tastes lousy in my opinion. If the orange sauce wasn't enough, the Lasagna was old and dried out. It tasted like it had been sitting around for days ... maybe longer. It baffles me, why any Italian restaurant would put out lousy food. Italian is a very profitable type of food to serve (pasta is cheap) and it's easy to make. It's not like they're trying to put together a fancy French dish. Make the pasta fresh and have a good sauce. It's not brain surgery. Apparently, it's way too complicated for Mezza Luna. Don't waste your time or money. BTW, the bartender was a dolt, too. 4 people at the bar and he couldn't keep up. read more

We had reservations for 6 pm and waited about 20 minutes before they cleared a table. The restaurant seems to have added quite a few tables to accommodate more clients but it leaves little space to walk around tables. I noticed The Village People found it difficult to manoeuvre in and out of the restaurant. This could be a problem if an emergency were to occur. The service was slow as the restaurant was jammed-packed. We ordered appetizers and mine arrived after our table had completed theirs. I told one of the hosts to cancel my order--mussels but the waiter had just appeared with it. The mussels were half-shelled overcooked and dry. They were presented in a large bowl with maybe 12 very small shells. It appeared to me that they might have ran out of mussels and they had been sitting under the warming lights for a long time. When I complanned, the host said they would comp. the mussels. I began trying the mussels and then our main courses arrived. I had ordered grouper, and while it was delicious, the presentation was left to be desired. My wife's grouper was perfectly prepared and presented. Every waiter was rushing around and trying to serve far too many guests at the same time. So the ambience wasn't so great. Lots of noise because of the closeness of the tables, and loud music to add to it. It was difficult to hold a conversation among the four of us. We've been to Mezza Luna often in the past, and never had such an experience. If we return, we'll book a table for 8pm-- by then it might be quieter and not so hurried. read more

We had lunch and dinner at Mezza Luna and both were excellent. The level of care and attention to the dishes was outstanding. We had pasta fagioli, linguine & mussels and linguine & clams, among other dishes. These were flavorful and properly prepared--the pasta was al dente, the mussels fra diavolo was spot-on and the dish was sauced just-right--coated and not swimming in gravy. After some hit-or-miss experiences at other area restaurants, we were very pleasantly surprised. Can't wait to return. read more
