Had reservations for three on a Tuesday. Ample parking outside. The hostess was very friendly and showed us to our table upon entering. There is plenty of seating inside and a good amount of seating outside. The weather was nice so we sat outside. This place is BYOB. Before ordering they told us they were out of the oysters, chicken kebab and broccoli. I would have ordered the chicken kebab if they had it. Bummer. Rather than ordering entrees we ordered apps (Phoenician potatoes and meatballs) and the paella. Everything was good. The potatoes had good flavor but they were a bit over cooked for me. Some pieces were too crispy. Overall it was a nice experience and ambiance. I would return to try the chicken kebabs, dessert and maybe some coffee. read more

Wife had the Blackened Tuna which was good as was their Burger and Shirt Ribs. Menu is seasonal so changes often. The service was good but a bit remiss. The live music was just right, allowed us to talk while enjoying it in the background. The bathroom needs work, but the rest is well appointed. Prices are fair and they are BYO. What a gem!!! I'm so glad we found this place! The decor and ambiance were great, staff was very attentive and super nice. Great food and service, what else can one ask for? They have gluten free options which is huge, everything we had was gf, salad, flatbreads and even dessert. I visited this place for the first time during a Mom's Night Out with a few friends. Great attentive service where the staff was also able to accommodate one of us who had a food allergy. It was BYOB, so we were able to bring in our own adult drinks of choice to share with the group. The private room we sat at was spacious, well lit, and was simple yet classy. For appetizers, we shared the Roasted Garlic and Brie, Zucchini Chips which we enjoyed. As an entree I had the Blackened Ahi Tuna which was also delicious as well as the Nutella Creme Brulee for dessert. Phoenician Lounge has now taken over the old Bibi'z location under a new name. While much of the menu has remained the same, there are some fantastic new additions. I have dined at Phoenician several times now, they still offer wonderful food and service. There are countless gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options available, so this is a great place to visit with any group. They are currently BYOB, but will happily provide ice buckets for any drinks you may bring in. read more

Phoenician Lounge has replaced Bibiz, while the atmosphere is the same the rest is not. The Phoenician no longer has the liquor license Bibiz had, and now at the bar they serve wine by the bottle. We were seated quickly, and they did have a great live musician. The first thing I noticed was that there only teens as servers, and our poor waiter seemed to be the main waiter for the entire large dining room. There were two other teens there who helped by clearing and bringing plates, but our waiter barely had two seconds to talk to us as he was serving more than 10 tables. For starters we had the lobster bisque and for entrees we had the scallop with risotto and the linguine with clam sauce. The soup was good because it was gluten free and they did seem to have quite a few gluten free options. The food is definitely a 4, it's fresh and the portions are good. I would give owners a 1, these kids definitely needed help, and so I have nothing bad to say about them as they definitely their best. I could see two adults there that moved a fraction of the pace as these kids and really weren't as customer oriented as them. We used to love the atmosphere at Bibiz, but I don't think this is a place we would return to. read more

Seriously mediocre, at best. Surprised to see all these glowing reviews and references to a "hidden gem." There are much better Mediterranean restaurants within walking distance. The Hummus was about as good as supermarket bought and Pita's not so great either. My skirt steak was just ok and portion way too small for the prices asked! Service was slow and courses oddly timed. Not impressed. The place was pretty much empty on a Friday night - that should tell you something. read more

Our first time there but not our last! Our experience at the Phoenician was a delight. We went on a Thursday night for my wife's birthday, and at 6:30 the restaurant was only 1/4 full, due to a concert and a carnival both in Westwood that night. We'd driven by the place many times before and it was always crowded, so we were glad for a little quiet. The General Manager, Jackie, greeted us at the door and had in her notes that we'd requested a quiet corner table. She had it ready for us, along with a note on the table saying Happy Birthday. She brought over ice and glasses for our drinks, chatted for a few minutes, and then took our appetizer order - lamb meatballs in tzatziki sauce and a delightful brie, roasted garlic, and chutney dish. Our waiter, who also happened to be the assistant manager, told us to take our time and let him know when we were ready to order our entrees. Which meant we got to enjoy our food-which was delicious!- at a leisurely pace. Both our waiter and Jackie stopped by now and then to bring more ice. When we finally ordered, my wife got the mushroom ravioli and I got the short ribs over corn & zucchini pudding, with a side of string beans. Well, let me just say those were some of the best raviolis we've ever had. And the short rib and pudding was done to perfection. I didn't even need my knife to cut it. Sadly, we were too full for dessert after such a large meal - we really wanted to try the nutella creme brulee. Next time we'll know to just split an appetizer, or skip it entirely, if we want room for dessert and coffee. And yes, there will definitely be a next time. With friends along to try it as well. For those wondering, there are also several gluten-free and vegetarian options, and they will adjust a dish, when feasible, to meet dietary needs or preferences. read more

With a visibly empty restaurant we were seated by the kitchen doors which surprised us but we sat. Menus were brought over and our wine glasses were set down. We sat for awhile before deciding to order. There was a musician performing in the restaurant that was so loud it was hard to have conversations Our decision was to start with the Mediterranean spreads and zucchini chips. What came to the table were three thimbles with hummus, an olive tapenade and tzatziki with 6 stale slices of pita. The chips were hardly warm but were edible. We ordered one green salad and one Caesar salad to share among four of us. They were just so-so. Dinner was skirt steak, blackened ahi tuna and chicken kebabs. The food was prepared nicely but the portions were small for the price. We chose not to have dessert but did order cappuccinos. We were advised that the machine was not working properly but they would try. It took quite awhile so we asked to cancel the cappuccino when they walked out with four small cups of coffee that we were told were on the house due to the fact that they were not real cappuccinos. Thank you for that. There are plenty of other Mediterranean restating the area that offer a much better experience....if this place wants to survive they should take some lessons. read more
