And she just recommended I get a shampoo in addition to the haircut . It would be 35 dollars. Ok that seems reasonable . So I went for it . I wish the hairstylist would have told me that I don't have enough fullness to have the haircut I requested . I m just a little disappointed that it didn't turn out the way I wanted. This review is for Angela. I found her through Yelp and I'm glad I did. I got a short bob cut from her and love it - my bangs were too short, but she felt it gave more shape to the bangs I was looking for. It doesn't bother me to much since I know it'll grow back super fast. Angela gave me a haircut based on a picture I showed her from Pinterest. She made sure she didn't give me extreme short layers on my bob and gave me really easy to manage bangs. This review is wayyy long overdue. I'll start off by saying that my experience with Angela Delong was probably the best experience I've had with a hair stylist ever in my 24 years. I chopped my hair into an A-line, long bob and had ombré balayage after having it long my whole life, and I felt totally comfortable in her hands. Here's why: 1. She's super flexible: She was able to fit me in the next week after I called! I told her I wanted to get my hair done before I traveled home for Xmas if that was possible, and she even offered to come in on her day off to fit me in. 2. She spends the time it takes: First of all, she asked if I had any pictures of what I wanted so that she could plan/think about what she was gunna do with my hair a week in advance. She ended up staying a full 4 hours after the salon closed to do my hair since I don't get off work until 6pm. 3. She listens: We spent the first 20 minutes just talking about what I wanted and the pictures I brought before she started anything on my hair. When we first bleached I thought I wanted it lighter, but after blow drying and seeing it w my skin tone, I thought toning it down a little might be better. So she went back, washed my hair all over again and showed me samples of color so I could choose what I wanted, before toning. She spent the time to re blow dry. Turned out perfect, and she didn't charge me any extra at all for that!! 4. Lastly, she's really fun to talk to and really takes the time to get to know her clients. Angela rocks!! read more

I've been going to Mona for many years and three salon changes. She's currently at MG Image, which is a great place: it's easy to get to, and has a great low key, relaxed atmosphere. Back to Mona: wherever she goes, I follow. I moved to Dublin, and still drive to San Jose for my cut and color. She's worth it. She's the one who finally got to chop off my crazy long hair into a fun, short bob. I never thought my hair would have any shape, being as fine as it is, but Mona is amazing and she makes my hair look amazing. Oh, and that's another thing: If you have really long hair, and like your really long hair, and don't want to change your really long hair, Mona is the lady to go to. She won't pester you to chop it all off. I had a few hair stylists before Mona, and that's all they could talk about...so annoying. I mean, I did eventually get tired of the long hair and decide it was time to chop it all off, but it was my decision and when the time was right, Mona was more than happy to do it! Liz was my colorist. The location of the salon is a littl busy, but very nice outside and had a nice vibe. I came in with 6inch roots and the rest was blue hair. She stripped all the color out and blondified my hair! She asked if i would like water or coffee, i declined, but she was so sweet and super down to earth!! She turned my doo into a fabulous red and pink pravana cocktail. My hair is still very healthy and the trim she gave me made me hair feel that much better and looks like it's in so much better condition than it was previous to my appointment. When she washed my hair in the sink, felt like massage heaven, not too gentle not too rough, she's very good at what she does, and i HIGHLY recommend you go to her for your fabulous dos!! Let me start off by saying that Angela is one of the sweetest people I've met. She took me in for a balayage ombre and I wanted my hair ashy brunette. Two and a half hours later, boom my hair was balayaged but with very warm tones. After leaving the salon, I texted her that I was unhappy and she took me back the same day. When I went back, I asked her to go lighter and ashy and that I didn't want warm tones in my hair. She then foiled about a quarter of my head and asked me how blonde I wanted to go. I naively assumed my hair couldn't possibly turn super blonde (level 8 or 9) and I went along with her recommendation for whatever toner she wanted to use. I was very, very wrong. My hair lifted very well (virgin hair) and I was super super blonde. I was appalled by my hair. 75% was dark brown with 25% blonde streaks. I was so upset but Angela was so excited about her work, I couldn't bear to tell her how much I hated it. Long story short, the communication between us wasn't clear enough and I ended up with streaky blonde highlights. After Angela chopped my hair off it hasn't been the same since- growth wise. I don't dare let anyone color my hair for the simple reason that my hair is already thin. When she took the time to do my hair it was chopped and super thinned out and it didn't and still doesn't look good on my hair. I pin my hair up for the fact that short hair does not suit me and as a professional stylist I think you would know that and show a client a hair style that will suit their face shape. On top of it all, I wanted a permanent blow out and said she doesn't do them for the fact that the chemicals are bad for her and me and that I shouldn't do it at all. I've been debating whether i wanted to give this review or not because Angela was literally the sweetest. She is so kind, accommodating, and the store is really clean and pretty. What she did to my hair wasn't horrible, but it was not what I wanted at all. I came in with a previous soft black to brown ombré and showed her a picture of how I wanted my hair. It was hair that was all brown and with light ombré/balayage going on. Angela then proceeded to tell me there were two routes I could go. "There are two routes I can go with this, each will give you the result you are looking for!" And of course I opted for the cheaper route, and was too nervous to ask what the difference was. I noticed her putting bleach on just certain parts of my hair on my roots and began to get nervous. When she washed my hair and took out the foils I was left was bright yellow highlights against black hair. I was terrified, she felt my discomfort while I told her I was not going for the "black against blonde" look and told me she could tone my hair so it would blend in better. She then continued to tell me she told me I took this route. And in my mind I thought I messed up but later on remembered she didn't explain ANY of this. She told me it would look like the picture either way. Knowing this I would have paid more, much more for it to have been done right. After toning it was still blonde against black. Being nervous and after her ensuring me it looked great I convinced myself that it looked good walking out and that I should love it considering I paid 200 and something for it. When I got home I felt like crying. When I actually looked in the mirror the blonde highlights didn't even blend in with my previous ombré. She didn't take the color out of my ombré so the blend of the highlights (ashy blonde highlights) into my orange brownish ombré. Even my friends noticed it right when they saw me and tried to hold in what they thought was wrong. I just think I wasted $200 and I was too shy to even speak up about it. read more

I found Angela DeLong on Yelp because I was looking for a someone who would do a really good ombre/balayage for a decent price on Asian virgin hair. I e-mailed Angela about a week before a weekend appointment with the hair I wanted. I had a collar bone length long bob and black virgin hair. I wanted a black to blonde ombre. When I got there Saturday afternoon, she told me she was excited all week about doing my hair. I have never had a stylist that has been really excited to do my hair. The dyeing took approximately 2-3 hours, which I expected. By hour 2, I noticed she was getting tired, she had already skipped lunch and worked continuously through her shift. But she definitely held it together and I am so impressed. We chatted throughout the hair painting and she's so fun to talk to. She really enjoys doing hair and she's been doing it for a long time. She definitely knows what she's doing when she's doing balayages and ombres. Rather than going directly from black to a blonde, she suggested doing a gradual fade, which I was perfectly fine with. She also added some blonde face framing pieces that look really good. After washing out the bleach/dye and my hair dried, I was so shocked that it was so blonde. I was a little bit iffy about it, but I knew that it was because I just was't used to having my hair so blonde, when I've really only had black hair my whole life. Angela was definitely happy with the outcome, she went through and explained why the color faded the way it did and how to style it. The more I look at it, the more I like it. And now I love the what she has done. I've gotten numerous complements on my hair. I went to Florida recently and a girl I met asked me where I got it done. She was definitely disapointed when I told her the salon was all the way in California. It's honestly really hard to find a good hair dresser that knows how to dye Asian virgin hair. My hair doesn't feel damaged or anything. It's definitely a bit thinner because of the bleach and a little tangled, but it's not significantly damaged compared to straight up bleaching hair. Angela even curled my hair and the color was beautiful with the waves and curls. I paid $180 for the balayage and she even went out of the way to buy me lunch.
