There's so much to look at from the wall of products to the screen on the side playing super helpful tips and product recommendations. Gissell is not only incredibly talented in the craft of curly cuts but she is such a sweet person in general. I felt comfortable sharing past experiences as well as what I wanted this time. She listened to each and every concern I had and every step of the way made sure I was happy with the outcome. The curly cut I chose had wash and style in it and wow that conditioner massage was too good! She let me know all the products she was using on my hair as well as giving me tips on how to style my hair and what products to use at home!! The salon's website encouraged clients to share their full hair history, and I did that because I know color can be difficult to get right. Based on our conversation, I left with the understanding that achieving my desired result would not be an issue. I want to say that I really like the salon itself. The space is lovely, the atmosphere is positive, the staff are welcoming, and the client experience feels thoughtful. Unfortunately, the color service was very disappointing. I came in with grown-out, uneven color and asked for an overall lighter golden brown with a dimensional dusty rose balayage. I also brought reference photos to the appointment. The final result was not close to what we discussed. Instead of a soft, blended look, my hair had stripe-like sections, and the rose tone faded almost immediately. Five days later, after only one wash, all of the pink is gone, and the color still looks uneven and brassy in places. See attached photos (the pink reference is what I asked for and the other 2 photos are what I got). What was most frustrating was the lack of discussion at the end of the appointment. It seemed clear that the result was not what I had asked for, but I was not shown the back of my hair, and there was no real conversation about the outcome or possible next steps. I did not raise it in the moment because I had already been there for several hours and wanted time to look at it fully before judging the final result. For a service that cost over $700, I expected something more polished and aligned with the consultation. I understand that hair coloring is not an exact science, but I do think it is important to be realistic about what can be achieved and to address it openly when the outcome does not match the client's expectations. I may still return to Fox & Rose for a haircut because I genuinely liked the salon environment! For color services, though, I would just caution clients to be very clear about expectations, share their full hair history, and be prepared that the result may not match what was discussed.

I don't want my hair to look like a natural gray, I still want it to have a pop and feel current. Deborah was honest about what would work in our video consultation, as well as with pricing upfront. Meanwhile, I had a super important meeting 3 days later that I had to be ready to present at. I looked like a frizzled mess!!! She burnt my hair to a crisp. I begged her for an appt before my meeting, even though she was supposed to finished everything day 1, and she kept me for an additional 7 hours. When I say my hair was burnt, I'm not exaggerating. It's taken over a year to grow my hair out. I never even got what I wanted. She gave my uneven blonde highlights...not the dark roots and balayage that I'd requested. And yes, I took a whole bunch of pictures in. All in, I paid $2K CASH...bc she refuses to take anything else so I assume she doesn't pay taxes. Plus I paid over $500 in treatment products to help heal my hair since. I was embarrassed to leave the house. All I heard from her own mouth was how great she was. I think she's great at extensions but definitely not bleaching dark hair. I had healthy hair going in, she has messed it up so much that my hair is STILL breaking and it's been over a year. Please avoid at all costs. Go to a proper studio. Funny thing is not only does she only take cash, but she INCLUDES her own MANDATORY 20% tip...isn't a tip based on services rendered?? She didn't do the job correctly in the first attempt so I asked for an another appointment. I was very clear that I only color the part which shows gray hair but in the second appointment, instead of fixing the old problem , she thought it's easier to apply the color on the whole scalp. I kept telling her not to touch roots but she had her own explanations and continued to do what seemed correct to her. Now the results are : I have itchy scalp with lots of dandruff and roughness , specially the bottom part of my hair is badly damaged. Tremendous amount of hair fall which I never had in my life (clearly the color she applied had something in it ). Even though she said it's ammonia free, but while she was applying this color, I told her this is the first time I am feeling the itchiness and headache but her answer was , "oh I don't know why you feeling this way, it's probably your skin". She couldn't even get rid of black spots from my forehead after the wash. Although it wasn't the first time that I requested ammonia free hair color from this salon but it would definitely make me never going back there .
