It took me a week to decide if I should review or not. I made a last minute decision to go to a nail salon near my office as I had an hour off from work before having to pick up my daughter from daycare. As a working mom who is an essential worker and a primary parent, I don't have the luxury to go frequently. When I do go, I expect to get a good service and end result. I called an made an appointment, and arrived on time. Lisa was waiting for me and immediately escorted me to a pedi station. She persuaded me to go with gel like many nail tech do anywhere else. I went with the suggestion. There wasn't a pricing board or list anywhere. When asked the gel mani+pedi was $55 (+$1 for venmo cost). I went with it and picked white as I had a photo session in the coming days. She asked if I wanted that or french. I said a solid white. As she begins the pedi she consulted on length of nails. Soon after I realized I was going to be in for a different experience. She began cutting my cuticles really short, and also cut my big toes deeply on the corners to create a slimmer shape. One my left foot she cut and pressed down under the nail causing the pointed end to sharply poke the sensitive skin. One cuticle on my right foot was cut too short or something and was stinging the whole time. While the pedi was happening, small talk was happening. Alot of it was pushing services on including that I should get highlights, "don't you like highlights? I can do it while you sit there". It didn't help that one of the first comments was "oh, you have so many grays for a young person". The comments and "offering" of services such as blackhead treatments, highlights and more continued. Comments about my having one child and I should have more also was unwarranted and opinion based, and not needed. While I was getting the mani, now at a mani station, a woman was getting finished up with her hair appointment and was loudly saying someone had messed it up, and she shouldn't have had to come back to have a new person fix it. Lisa had gotten up from my nails and walked over the the complaining client and the tech. I couldn't help but feel like this is how many clients are experiencing services. While she stepped away I noticed a previous client who had doe in her hair was also waiting for the fixer to finish up with the complaining client. Now that my mani is being painted, I notice the layers of gel are uneven, and gloppy on some ends. Even a dust particle or something was stuck, and she didn't even try to get it out. In my pictures you can see edges not being finished off with a top coat, or it's bumpy. Needless to say, I won't go back. I'd rather wait until I can get away and spend the needed time to relax and trust the process. read more

This place is so shady that they can charge you anything that they want and run a super corrupt business right in front of you. First of all, they don't take credit cards and accept venmo and cash. If you pay by venmo, they will charge you more. Wow! What kind of a business are you running? They don't have any listed prices and increase the prices on the fly. I went for a kids haircut which i was told over phone is 13$ by Helen and was ultimately charged 15$ because that's what they wanted. Decided I wanted to try a new salon for my haircut. Filtered "most reviewed" and this place popped up rather quickly with 4 stars. It was the perfect affordable haircut. I called ahead and was told to come in 30 minutes later. I arrived and Queenie was very kind and friendly. She helped me right away and started by washing my hair. I wasn't really sure the cut I wanted so we talked about the options and I decided on layers. She did a wonderful job! It looks so fresh and clean now! $25 for the cut. I'll definitely go back! It's $25 for a shampoo and cut without the oil treatment, but as quoted by Dana, my hair is "so so dry, too dry, wow oh my so dry, need the oil." At first I was like ok, that's not very nice to say, but then I realized she's very right. My hair is dry as sh*t because I often iron curl it and will 9/10 times avoid brushing my hair. So alright Dana, oil up my hair girl! I like yelp for a few reasons-- it can prepare me for what I'm about to get myself into based on insights from others. Yelp helped me prepare for the following at this salon: 1. I knew to be ready to turn down the up selling tactics. 2. Apparently Helen is amazing stated by multiple reviews. I tried requesting her but she was booked up for the day. The up selling is common here. If you're really trying not to cash out on products, be prepared to say no thank you a lot during your visit at this salon. You can be a liar pants on fire like me and say "oh thanks but I already own that at home" ;) So there's been a lot said, but 4 stars? Here's why: It's cheap, your hair really will be saved if it desperately needs saving, and the haircut ain't that bad. Helen's been cutting my hair for years and the woman knows what I like. I've paid double the price of what she charges and the outcome isn't nearly as good as when I come to Helen's, but maybe that's what happens when you establish history with your stylist. Don't come here expecting an ultra luxurious salon. It's a perfectly equipped salon with many hair chairs and a side dedicated to manis and pedis. It's spacious and the women working there are nice, albeit sometimes they can talk your ear off when you're trying to be zen but this isn't exactly the type of establishment to get your zen on. It's usually full of patrons and activity. I'm a very simple hair person. I don't get my hair "did", I just get it trimmed. Get those nasty split ends outta here! I have side bangs so that's the only thing I'm super particular about but Helen does a great job catering to my needs and if you need her to fix something or show your hair some more love, she will do it. My haircut along with a hair mask is super affordable and less than $50 which is a steal in my book. The only thing I super dislike about this place is the location. Sometimes you get homeless wandering outside in the parking lot or in front of the store and it can be a little off-putting. read more

She really takes the time to make sure she's doing a good job on your hair. I don't have any complaints! Her salon offers many services... hair extensions, chemical straightening, eye lash extensions, eye lash perm, waxing, eyebrow tatoo'ing, facial and massage, manicures, pedicures and bridal hair and make up. Whatever you're feeling, she's got it for you. The salon's been open for less than a year so all the equipment is new and Helen makes sure her shop stays clean all the time. She is located right at the corner of 11th Street and Santa Clara Street. And the best thing about this place is that it has its own parking lot! Yesterday, I was frantically finding an opened salon. Who knew that most are closed on Monday's AND for Easter?! I was having an Elle Woods moment and totally needed and update on my three-week old a-line. After much disappointment, I finally came across this gem on Yelp and was thrilled it was by my work. I called and Helen told me my trim would be $18 for shampoo and styling. WHAT. I've never had a haircut this cheap. I quickly drove by and walked in. I barely sat down for a millisecond when Helen guided me over to the shampoo area. I got my hair shampooed and conditioned and then sat me on a chair. She spent a LOT of time on my short hair! I told her exactly how I want it (don't trim bangs, only trim the front to rid of split ends and cut the back) and she said okay. I was nervous as most of the photos on Yelp are only nails so I wasn't sure how the stylists would be. To my surprise when she turned me over, I LOVED IT! I've never said this about any cut I've ever had before. I've been going to this salon for about a year now. I love it! I've had 3 haircuts with Helen, and 1 with another woman there, and although I adore Helen and prefer her, they were both wonderful. What I would say is the best about this place is that they actually listen to how you want your hair done. If you have a picture, they will match it to the best of their abilities, no questions asked. If you have a hairstyle you are curious about and want to try, they will give you their HONEST opinion about whether or not they think it will look nice, but regardless will do whatever you want without pushing you another direction. I recently came here for a Balayage Brown Hair coloring session and deep oil treatment. In total, the session lasted about 3 hours with dye, treatment, and styling. I am new to this the coloring world and never pamper myself by having my hair professionally done, so I was a bit taken aback by the price which was $140 for color and deep oil treatment, but I was very happy with the results and opted for it! Originally, I loved my gel manicure. It was this beautiful pink and seemed like they were done well. I had my nails done Sunday and by Tuesday some of my nails had turned a weird beige/yellow color. It seemed like the top coat was what was turning color so I'm not sure if it was defected. Overall I'm pretty disappointed and sad that the manicure did not last. A gel manicure is pretty cheap if it's only $15 but not worth it if it doesn't even last a couple days. Slow, damaging work and rude service - I wish I could give a lower rating! I only came here because it happened to be close by at the time but I shouldn't have been so lazy. I walked in and asked for a gel mani and regular pedicure. After several attempts to communicate with a worker, I was quoted $20 for the gel mani and $16 for the pedi + $1 for card charges. Sounded great! I picked my colors and was told to wait in the pedi chair and soak my feet. While I was in the chair, the first woman started doing my nails. She sat to my side so that I had to stay in an uncomfortable twisted position while she slowly cleaned my nails. I've never seen slower, messier work. After several minutes I had to tell her to stop because I was bleeding a decent amount and all of my nails were a complete mess- ruined! The skin around EACH AND EVERY ONE of my nails was torn and my nails were cut into uneven square-like shapes even though I asked for round. She apologized, but the damage was done. The pedicure was good, though! If you come here- come for that. A second lady did my pedicure and she was careful and really gave great service. The cleanliness wasn't looking too good- I had to specifically ask them to change out old water and some of the tools. Good thing I didn't stay here. Now- when it was time for me to pay, I was told to pay the $16 for the pedicure, of course, AND $10 for my "manicure". I insisted that I shouldn't have to pay that for my bleeding, torn-skin, beyond-repair nails. A younger lady working on someone's eyebrows started yelling at me repeatedly from across the room that I got a manicure so I have to pay the $10. Finally, the manager came over and insisted that the pedicure lady could finish it for me. I somewhat trusted her work, but I just needed to get out of that hot place (no/little AC?) ASAP. I ended up paying $5 for my hands and the $16 for pedicure + $1 card charge before Lyfting away to Valley Nails (see that review). Cheap prices, but I'd pay to never go there again. My fingers looked AWFUL and they HURT - and I got yelled at for that! This place is NOT worth the risk. read more

The massage chairs were awesome. The pedicure was the most thorough I've ever had! I don't think my feet/toenails have ever been so clean and tidy. Cleanness: =============================== (intend to report this place to the state bar) 1) The barber dropped the comb he was using on my wife to the ground and he picked it up and continued using it! (no washing, no replacing) where .... 2) There were piles of hair on the ground already. I guess they simply haven't broom since they opened the salon in the morning (we were there in the afternoon). Customer understanding/communication =============================== 1) My wife showed the picture that she wants and specifically asked for (a) TRIMMING and (b) told the barber to leave the bangs below eyes (she had her hair long for more than a year and it was very long). We have attached some images, so please take a look at the end pages of the photo section... At the end, The barber cut more than 10 inches of her hair and left the bang a couple of inches above eyebrow. My wife was literally crying at this moment. We are foreigners ourselves. We have lived in US for more than 10 years so we have some fair but understandable accent as we have no problem elsewhere (hinting not our fault). As a final reminder, we had repeated multiple times what we wanted and the barber verified his understanding as we explained the same things to his colleagues in the salon and he acknowledged. And while my wife was crying as she lost her long hairs she kept for year in less than a few minutes, I was trying to pacify her that it would grow again, it's not that bad and so on (her hair made her looked like a crazy person honestly at that moment)... so we get home and I notice that my barber had not leveled my side-burns and not only that ... she had messed in back of my hair and then she tried to fixing it by shaving by razor my hair end one inch up. Greediness =============================== After the masterpiece we received on our hair (while they were constantly trying to sell us stuff)... no apologies from their side and they asked for the full price as nothing has happened. We did not insult or use any foul words as we paid the full price though in my opinion, I should have brought that into their eyes.
