We found this place by accident. You will probably drive by a few times before you realize its there. MGM has one of the best good and cheap breakfasts in DC. They have pancakes, waffles, eggs, breakfast sandwiches, etc. all under $6! And you receive generous portions. Come early and you wont be disappointed. There is barely any parking so be aware of that. read more

Got a French onion dip, it was good! I expected so much more... Coming from New York where we have the best roast beef sandwiches ever!(biased maybe) It was good, glad to have found a spot out here! I remove one star only because they don't serve their amazing sandwiches before 10:30, so we settled for a really awesome, relatively inexpensive breakfast! Nice that they have some more seating now. Counter service is good, though we waited forever for our check! The next time I go, I will make sure not to get there before 10:30...oh so good! read more

Best roast beef sandwich I have ever had in my life. The amount of options they have as far as condiments is great, I think I had my beef on an onion roll with cranberry, horeseradish, and some other stuff i think, it's been a while. But it was AMAZING. The meat is juicy, flavorful, and complimented by whatever you put on it. Amazing. If you're in DC and want a roast beef sandwich, don't go anywhere else. read more

We recently were driving from our house in Silver Spring to the Arboretum and I remembered seeing on a public access show that MGM does breakfast. YUM. We made it in just in time, had a great meal, plunked the car seat for our infant on the counter with no issue and even ran into a friend quite randomly that we hadn't see in ages. Only complaint is that they do home fries not hash browns. Why is it so hard to find hash browns in DC? read more

The staff here is fantastic! I always get service with a smile when I come in for lunch! The food is super fresh and the assortment of condiments really lets you customize everything the way you like. My favorite is the top round which is always cooked to perfection! Everyone know's this place for their sandwiches but don't sleep on the breakfast! For $7.99 you get a huge plate of french toast/waffles, eggs, meat, and tates/grits. I legit could not finish my food and that never happens! I am tired of all the bougie breakfast places in the city that charge $20 for some garnished eggs and toast. If you want a no frills diner style breakfast this is the place to go! read more

The brisket is one of the best around.So juicy and tender and full of flavor. And the onion rolls are so fresh and delicious. Also a big fan of the tuna melt you get a nice scoop of meaty albacore tuna on a nice toasted bun with a slice of tomato and a side of fries and they have beer on tap.Lunch time can get pretty crowded and they do close early but its one of the best breakfast/lunch spots around read more

I just moved to DC, and this is close to where I live. I just tried the tuna melt, and it is one of the absolute BEST sandwiches I've ever had. Holy lord. I love this place. I've never had a bad experience. The food is always freshly made with lots of warm flavors. You can build your own sandwich or choose one of their signature menu items. I would build your own. They have enough options for you to experiment for a few visits. read more

Have been going to MGM for the last ten years. They always had a great quality consistent product.......until today. I had not been there since they expanded their dining room and menu. I wish they could go back to the way they used to be. When I placed my order, the guy who took my order seemed busy dealing with other things. He did not give me my drink cup or ask if it was carryout or dine-in. Some people got a pager for their order, but I did not. It took a long time for the food to be ready. I ordered the same sandwich I always have, and was very disappointed. Every bite of the top round had gristle in it. The sandwich itself cost $12.50, total for the combo with fries and a drink was over $18.00. I expect more from a twelve dollar sandwich. I will go back one more time to give them another shot, but not anytime soon. read more

Been meaning to try this place for awhile. I am TOTALLY disappointed that I didn't try sooner! I ordered the Thanksgiving Dinner and the French Dip. Price points for being in DC is pretty on par. I dine out a lot and in terms of the price and the amount of food you get ... It's boarder line bargain. Dinner for 2 with drinks =$29. My turkey dinner was OUTSTANDING and huge. Meh. I wanted love it but the roast beef (the signature meat) was tasty but tough. Tying to tear it with my teeth trashed the entire sandwich. Please check your order before leaving. Paid for a pickle and a side of slaw & when I got home both were missing. Roast beef was delicious but fatty & the ham on the Hawaiian was very fatty. A little disappointing to have paid $53 for three sandwiches to say the least. read more

I love every sandwich that I've tried here, but it's very difficult to stray from what you know delights -- and that's the top round or the brisket. The meat has great flavor and is never dry, even the turkey. Every time I am anywhere near this neighborhood, a detour to this place is mandatory - even if I just ate. It's that good. The portion sizes are more than filling. This place has grown in size and maintains their charm. Their staff is helpful, patient, friendly, and willing to offer up a suggestion. read more

They are very slow and customer service is quite terrible. However, their food is great. So make sure you have time to wait a while. Roastbeef and turkey are amazing with poppyseed onion roll. Their chicken and tuna salad have way too much mayo. read more

Well let me start off by saying i'm from Kansas City.... Having said that, I know my barbecue. MGM Roast Beef is decent. The meat is fresh and and the entire process is transparent (They cut the meat in front of you). Check Plus. But.... the quality of meats are just simply sub par when it comes to smoke-able meats, making them more dry than my taste buds will allow. Check minus. The atmosphere is kitschy southern hospitality, but still quaint and the employees are very friendly. Overall, if you are looking for roast beef in the district and your palate hasn't been tainted with the sweet delectable tastes of Southern and Midwest BBQ, you'll enjoy a fine meal here. read more

We're talking about buns, meat, vegetables, and condiments. Your sandwich is built to spec. The best part about MGM is watching the guy carve scrumptious, tender slivers right off the slab meat. And as he's slicing through the meat, you can see the juices oozing from within. Is MGM worth the trip? Absolutely. It's the type of restaurant where you'd go for no other reason than the food itself. Best roast beef sandwich in DC bar none. I don't even bother ordering it anywhere else. Hand carved right in front of you, they also do roast turkey and baked ham, and their breakfasts are big old fashioned diner-style affairs, but I just can't pass up the roast beef. Reminds me of the old Hodges Sandwich Shop downtown, but much much cleaner. A short walk from Rhode Island Metro and right off NY Avenue, it's isolated but still accessible in an industrial part of town where the low rent ensures a reasonably priced meal and crowds at lunch. And any place that serves gravy fries deserves your patronage. Go before they turn it into a $5 cupcakery. read more

The ribeye and New York strip were very good. The butchers steak I got for my son and he didn't really like it, it was lacking flavor. If you do anything when you go, please make sure to get the biscuits. Hands down THE BEST BISCUITS I've ever had lol. They are the most flaky and buttery biscuits, you can count each layer that these have. Pro tip is to ask for butter and the house made jam. The pimento cheese is good with them but it becomes a little too decadent. Overall I'm happy we made the decision to come here, we will be back soon.
